Beck had an extraordinarily long career. What made Beck stand out was how he morphed his guitar prowess into so many different styles and genres, allowing him to always be contemporary. You can find outstanding instrumentals from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's, 10's, 20's......Jeff left hits in 7 decades of an immaculate career. For his early work, sample Freeway Jam, Pork Hat Pie, El Becko, and compare those to his more recent works where he played in the techno-house genre like What Mama Said, Space For The Papa, Roy's Toy. And, Jeff Beck is the world's greatest guitarist. Sorry Jimi, you were great, but Jeff brought out almost impossible sounds out of a Strat.
They were just called The Impressions - Curtis never took lead billing. Yes, it's a classic and Rod and Beck do a good version but nowhere near as good as the original. Spoiled by Beck's OTT guitar. Anybody who bought and heard the original will know what I mean. Missed the soul of the original.
You started with the wrong song. "I Ain't Superstitious" is the one you gotta hear. You'll never hear another song like it. Beck discovered Rod Stewart singing in a nightclub. Beck also gave Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones his start. He played bass in the band.
Rod Stewart was the lead singer of the very first Jeff Beck Group in 1968 after the Yardbirds split apart… They made two albums together Truth and BeckOla.. Both are great albums… Here’s a live version of this song where Rod surprised Jeff on stage ruclips.net/video/T43m6dcMk6U/видео.html
Especially Love the version done at the 2007 Crossroads festival with Vinnie and Tal. Because Tal was just 20/21 and he gave her that Solo on the first song of the set, to show the crowd who she was something most stars of hi stature wouldn't do.
That tone! Woooooo!! Jeff Beck could play the vocals to any song on his guitar note for note. And Rod Stewart's voice you know it's him singing when you hear it.
This is the most Beautiful song, the Guitar is singing the most Amazing Soul Heart Of your being, perfect for Rod is saying all the words I already know I want to get on that Train, this is one of the Songs I will have Played when I am laid to rest, Jeff Beck is such and Incredible Artist, his Music is just flowing from his Soul, My Favorite Guitarist 💜💜💜💜💜💜 Lisa Einsohn
Super Musicians. When Jeff and Rod play together it's magic. Check out Truth Album by "The Jeff Beck Band" Rod's career was launched was launched by being the singer of the Jeff Beck Band. "Beckola" was the other album they did together.
Losing Jeff Beck was hard. I took guitar lessons in grammar school because of Beck and Clapton. Turns out my fingers aren’t long enough, or weren’t in 7th grade. Watching my heroes slip away has been really hard. Rod and Jeff performed a lot together. Rod Stewart better live forever. I just couldn’t take that.
Jay, you will love Jeff Beck's bassist Tal Wilkenfeld. She is one of the best bass players currently on the planter. Looks like a young teenager, but she's a grown woman - superb musician and also a good singer in her own right.
This song was an unofficial anthem of the Civil Rights Movement, sung during marches in the 1960s. I think it's great that you played this song during Black History Month. I hope you also pay tribute to Burt Bacharach by reacting to songs he wrote for major singers.
These two shared a long history together. Rod was Jeffs lead singer in the Jeff Beck Group after leaving the Yardbirds. Ronnie Wood also in the Jeff Beck Group & after with Rod before joining the Rolling Stones.
I failed to appreciate this song when it first came out. Being older, I am blown away when I hear it. The great thing about music is that as you age, you find more treasures.
After a stint with Long John Baldry, the original Jeff Beck Group was Rod's second band. He and Beck bass player Ron Wood (now with the Stones) replaced Steve Marriott when he left the Small Faces to form Humble Pie. Rod took over the vocals and Wood switched to lead guitar since Ron Lane played bass in the Faces. That's when the Small Faces became the Faces. From there Rod went solo, although most of the Small Faces played on his Every Picture Tells a Story debut album.
So glad you are playing this video. Rod and Jeff were old buddies as you can tell from this video. I so love this version. Jeff played in our little town not too many years ago. What a trip. But this is outstanding! Thank you. Thank you. So much power here! Yes. The perfect send off song. Good point. Guitar soul connection. Right on, Jay. Yeah! Here we go! Thank you. Thank you. Needed this!
A song that's telling people to get ready for death and what comes after. "You just thank the lord." Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck were remarkable on this song.
Couple backstories on Jeff and Rod I heard rod Stewart tell us a story shortly after Jeff's passing and it was how they were invited to play at Woodstock Jeff turned it down because he didn't feel they were ready and it drove a wedge between but Rod admitted later that Jeff was right so I thought that was interesting , and one more thing when you watch Jeff Beck play his guitar he does not play with a pick , he plays with his thumb which I don't know of anyone that plays like that in The Rock world check it out when you see him play but anyway good reaction R.I P Jeff Beck
Jeff and Rod were never afraid to share the stage and collaborate with other great musicians. And also to introduce new and upcoming talent to the world. Look what Jeff Beck did for Tal Wilkenfeld. Also watch how Rod Stewart introduced a girl he found busking on the streets of Glasgow named Amy Belle.
I think the world is a sadder place with him gone, we keep losing the greats and I hope there's some new guitar heroes who'll grow up great and follow their fretboards to glory.
This is one of my favorite songs. Period. Been a huge Rod Stewart fan from his beginning and the magic he and Jeff Beck have together with the call and response between Rod's voice and Jeff's guitar is unforgettable. They used to play together when Rod was with the Jeff Beck group. I think even the vid for this song is filmed so beautifully. I've been asking for this one forever! Thanks!
I should mention that his style on this song has a similar sound to some David Gilmour of Pink Floyd. Jeff Beck is lead guitarist on the solo Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters album Amused to Death. I’d highly recommend the song ‘Three Wishes’ from that album. It’s the perfect combination of Jeff Beck guitar and Pink Floyd sound, lyrics, and Vocals. Amber would be in heaven.
Rod Stewart played with Jeff Beck in 1969 on a tour of America and did vocals on The Jeff Beck Group album "Truth " released in 1968 after Becks' success in the legendary group The Yardbirds
The whole Blow by Blow album is such an experience. My son is a guitarist and I turned him on to JB when he was twelve. JB has been his favorite guitarist ever since.
Jeff was so insanely good. Rod did vocals on Jeff’s first 2 albums Check out “Couse we ended as Lovers “. (Live at Ronnie Scott’s). The bassist will blow you away
This song was first released in 1965 by The Impressions. Jeff does a stellar guitar performance while Rod's vocal solo just beautiful. The instruments, especially the organ, make a wonderful backing. It's been covered by Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, Chamber Btothers, Vanilla Fudge, to name a few. People Get Ready, was in reference to passing on, catching the train that took you to the promise land. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️ ❤️🇨🇦🇨🇦
These two have a long history together going back the 60s and The Jeff Beck group. They had an 80s hit with "Infatuation", a real rocker. Jeff also does a great instrumental cover of The Beatles' "A Day in the Life".
Both Jeff Beck and the Yardbirds were pioneers, and way underappreciated. The Yardbirds produced 3 of the top 10 best guitarist ever: Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page (All of whom were Knighted at the same time, by the Queen). Jeff is attributed with the earliest Psychedelic sound (which drove Clapton from the group), and I also believe the first artist to destroy his guitar on stage. Alice Cooper said he was the greatest player of all time. He was a very private person and didn't want to be on tour but preferred to be home and raise his family. So, he traded fame for family, however he became the most sought-after studio musician in the world and played with the best.
Clapton left the Yardbirds when they started to drift away from the Blues towards a more popular style. The Yardbirds then asked Jimmy Page to step in, but Page was still happy as a Studio musician/producer. Page recommended Beck. Page stepped into the Yardbirds when their bassist quit. Page was just to fill in until a permanent bassist was ready. Then Page and Beck both played guitar until Beck couldn't stand touring and went back England and his family.
The guitarist, famous guitarists went to see. And a humble person to boot. Little is talked of the number of female musicians he has employed, mentored, encouraged and given a nudge to their careers. He never mentions it, but check any live performance and there they are. I'm so pleased he played at Ronnie Scott's before he passed. He was so stoked to have knocked it off his bucket list.
This is a Curtis Mayfiekd and the Impressions cover. When Jeff Beck left The Yardbirds, he formed The Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart on vocals and Ron Wood on bass. Jeff changed directions and Rod and Ronnie joined Faces (previously Small Faces) with Ronnie now on guitar. Simultaneously, Rod started his solo career with Ronnie on most of that. When Brian Jones ofvthe Rolling Stones died in1969, Rod begged Mick and Keith not yo steal Ronnie from him They hired Mick Taylor instead. When Mick Taylor left in 1974/75, then Mick and Keith stole Ron Wood, and he's been a Rolling Stone since. Though he has also occasionally collaborated with Rod over the years as well. This is 1985. In 1984, Jeff Beck played on three songs on Rod Stewart's solo album, most notably on "Infatuation."
When I got the call that my Grandmother died I went to my room, put this song on repeat and laid on my bed and listened to it for an hour. It was great therapy for me. So glad you got to hear this powerful song.
Jeff and Rod were in the Jeff Beck Band. They had two great albums together, ahead of their time at the time. The albums are "Truth" and "Beckola" Eversong on "Truth" is awesome.
This song was originally written by Curtis Mayfield after the famous March on Washington in 1963! Originally sung by the Impressions but I love this Rod Stewart/ Jeff Beck remake! Jeff Beck was a legendary rock guitarist whom we recently lost! RIP❤❤🙏🏿
Oops got the spelling wrong. It's Tal Winkenfeld. She deserves for me to get it right. Give Freeway Jam, Scatterbrain or Come Dancing a shot. Declan, from the 'Who Else's album, is, to me, the perfect send-off tune. My son is mentally handicapped and mostly wants to listen to Disney storybook cd's in the car. But he frequently wants the 'Who Else's cd. It is the only serious music he ever wants.
There's a live version of this from around 2010 where Rod comes on stage unexpected and started singing this song, Jeff did look truly surprised, GREAT PERFORMANCES!!!
If you love an artist who touches your soul with his guitar and songs I recommend Angel Eyes by the legendary Jeff Healey. This Canadian artist was born blind yet still managed to become one of the worlds greatest guitarists & songwriter. He plays sitting with his guitar on his lap & every performance is deeply emotional. Sadly he passed away much too young in 2008. The Jeff Healey Band were Patrick Swazye’s personal choice to play the house band in the cult classic film Roadhouse.
What a beautiful voice that mr Rod Stewart has he's one of my favorite singer and artists I love so many of he's songs he's a rock 🎸 legend and a rock and roll stars and Jeff BECK he's a rock 🎸 star and he is a great guitar 🎸 legend
The singing guitar - that was the magic of Jeff Beck. I am so thankful that I got to see him in concert multiple times, the most recent was in Austin in 2019, just before the shut downs. I was inconsolably gutted when he died, your first break comments, where you were instantly a fan of his talent, broke me again. Thank you for doing this one. 💔 Seriously, explore more. He never sang, so if you want vocals you have to look for his duets (I Put A Spell on You feat/Joss Stone is AH-MAZ-ING), but his instrumentals transport me.
In 1969, Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart, as well as Ron Wood (of The Stones) were all members of The Jeff Beck Group, Beck's first band after he left The Yardbirds. Their first album, Truth, is incredible. If you'd like to hear more, I'd suggest checking out Let Me Love You Baby, Ain't Superstitious, and the awesome cover of Ole Man River. The album is as legandary as the members in the band!
They really take you to church on this one. The guitar being the choir behind the soloist. Please do Ol' Man River from Jeff Beck Truth. Another great Rod Stewart cover is Tom Waits' Downtown Train. And if you have not done any Tom Waits, Jersey Girl is a good start. More great Rod Stewart on Every Picture Tells A Story.
Two you Should really listen to is Stevie Wonders Cause We Ended as Lovers and Angel Footsteps both the Live at Ronnie Scotts are phenomenal ..Jeff is just a master at what he does
"The guitar was singing the song" AMEN!
Jeff Beck was an amazing guitarist. The world lost a master. This is a beautiful song.
Part of the soul! Great Amber! Thanks for this! yes emotional guitar and Rod.
-rest in paradise- 😔 🕯
-#beautiful-
It's a great cover. Curtis Mayfield would be proud.
Well said. R.I.P. Jeff Beck
Been waiting for you to do this for so long. Love this song
Sailing is absolutely beautiful!

This song is a classic by Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions. It was and still is a major hit.
I HIGHLY recommend listening to the Impressions' version.

Beck and Stewart’s album Truth is a masterpiece.
The Jeff Beck Group.
Yes indeed. I still have that album
Please listen to Blues Deluxe from the Truth album!!!
My favorite from Truth is "Ol' Man River"
Truth is a Beck solo album, anytime rod was paired with Beck it was in the Jeff Beck group with Ronnie Wood on bass. Beck basically discovered rod
You started with the wrong song. "I Ain't Superstitious" is the one you gotta hear. You'll never hear another song like it. Beck discovered Rod Stewart singing in a nightclub. Beck also gave Ronnie Wood from the Rolling Stones his start. He played bass in the band.
Guitar part of a human soul? Wow! You nailed it Amber. I've been listening to Jeff my whole life and this the perfect description.
Jeff made his guitar cry. RIP Jeff
You gotta check out Jeff Beck’s instrumental song, ‘Cause We Ended As Lovers. Transformative, epic, spiritual, somber, and beautiful.
Most definitely
Yes!!
Yes! It's stunning.
Jeff Beck created what we know as the Modern day guitarist.
Especially Love the version done at the 2007 Crossroads festival with Vinnie and Tal. Because Tal was just 20/21 and he gave her that Solo on the first song of the set, to show the crowd who she was something most stars of hi stature wouldn't do.

Jeff Beck could make a guitar sound like voice singing.....he was a genius....taken for granted for sure, now hes gone.....
Some of us took a while to come around to Rod Stewart too, Amber!
Super Musicians. When Jeff and Rod play together it's magic. Check out Truth Album by "The Jeff Beck Band" Rod's career was launched was launched by being the singer of the Jeff Beck Band. "Beckola" was the other album they did together.
Jeff Beck ""Wired" album is Just Beck playing the guitar, and it is unbelievable.
'Reason to Believe' by Rod Amber - such a beautiful song..........
Thank You for Jeff Beck
I love this cover of Curtis Mayfield's song! I thought this was a perfect tribute song for the legendary Jeff Beck too! 🖤🤘
Thank you. I knew I had heard this before.
@@ryanawilson8549 you're welcome!
Curtis Mayfield's version of the song is an absolute classic.
Ya'll need to check out Handbags and Gladrags by Rod Stewart! One of his best!
Jeff Beck w/ Cyndi Lauper "Above the Clouds" ❤❤❤
Losing Jeff Beck was hard. I took guitar lessons in grammar school because of Beck and Clapton. Turns out my fingers aren’t long enough, or weren’t in 7th grade. Good song good reaction
Not a huge Rod Stewart fan, but I love Jeff Beck. However, I love Rod in this video. Rod + Jeff = Magic.

So many of my family members have boarded that train in the last couple of years. RIP
Jeff and Rod go way back. That's another reason why this video is so great. It had been a long time since they worked together.
These two shared a long history together. Rod was Jeffs lead singer in the Jeff Beck Group after leaving the Yardbirds. Ronnie Wood also in the Jeff Beck Group & after with Rod before joining the Rolling Stones.
One of the best ever gospel songs, and a fantastic version. Rod's vocals, with Jeff Beck's immeasurable guitar solo, probably the greatest ever!
One of my favorite songs of all time. Jeff beck was anazing
Jeff Beck track
"Where Were You"
Has Awesome guitar playing, be good to see reaction to that
I failed to appreciate this song when it first came out. Being older, I am blown away when I hear it. The great thing about music is that as you age, you find more treasures.
Same here. I thought it was an okay song, but hearing many years later finally realized how amazing it is.
People get ready. Amen
People dont often realize it but Rod is a soul singer. It doesn't matter what he sings.
Totally agree
He also sang DISCO!
@David Dill He did one disco song and it was a parody. The Rolling Stones did a disco song and it was serious.
Check out Rod & Jeff in "I Ain't Superstitious", a bluesy banger with great guitar work by Jeff.
I was fortunate enough to see him tour with Stevie Ray Vaughan in 89
Always loved this Curtis Mayfield song and especially this great version of Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart !!
You should really check out Rod when he was with the Faces. Theres incredible live stage performances.. 1971,72. Real rock n roll.
'Stay with Me' is a must
I love Rod Stewart when he was in the group, "Faces." Very rock and roll.
After a stint with Long John Baldry, the original Jeff Beck Group was Rod's second band. R.I P Jeff Beck
Jeff Beck gave Rod Stewart his big break in Feb. '67, when he recruited him for the Jeff Beck Group
There's never been anyone close to Jeff.
Songs "BLUES DELUXE", " BECK'S BOLERO", "PLYNTH", " GREENSLEEVES", "AIN'T SUPERSTITIOUS" , "FREEWAY FLYER", AND SO MANY MORE!!!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Recommend Rod singing Tom Wait's "Downtown Train" and Robbie Robertson's "Broken Arrow". Rods interpretations of both are amazing. RIP Jeff Beck.
Recommend Tom Waits singing Downtown Trains
This is one of my favorite songs. Period. Been a huge Rod Stewart fan from his beginning and the magic he and Jeff Beck have together with the call and response between Rod's voice and Jeff's guitar is unforgettable. They used to play together when Rod was with the Jeff Beck group. I think even the vid for this song is filmed so beautifully. I've been asking for this one forever! Thanks!
Rod Stewart is a hoax!
Jeff Beck could make a guitar sound like no one else could. R.I.P. ☮❤🎶
He created the modern day guitarist.
Rod got his start singing lead in the Jeff Beck group back in the late 60's.
Check out Jeff Beck’s guitar solo of Somewhere Over The Rainbow. It’s awesome
There is a great live version where Rod just shows up and starts singing unbeknownst to Jeff who looks genuinely surprised. Check it out
I just checked out the video. Thanks. Beck genuinely surprised. Great performance.
I remember this MTV video back in the day... very emotional and spiritual.
Rod Stewart played with Jeff Beck in 1969 on a tour of America and did vocals on The Jeff Beck Group album "Truth " released in 1968 after Becks' success in the legendary group The Yardbirds
Good Song, GREAT GUITAR!!!!!

YES! Amber I feel the same way, especially with the music we grew up with in the 60's 70's and 80's.
This song was first released in 1965 by The Impressions. Jeff does a stellar guitar performance while Rod's vocal

Yes Curtis Mayfield was the lead singer in that version. They are both Awesome.
Who wrote it?
@@nadzee7101 Curtis Mayfield.
To me, Rod's finest hour and Jeff is transcendent. R.I.P.
I took was kind of like warm to Rod Stewart's voice , but he quickly became one of my all-time favorites
Rod was the original singer for the Jeff Beck Group back in 1968. Check out the albums Truth and Beck-ola.👍
These two have a long history together going back the 60s and The Jeff Beck group. They had an 80s hit with "Infatuation", a real rocker.
Jeff also does a great instrumental cover of The Beatles' "A Day in the Life".
Ufff INFATUATION is Incredible💥
YES, I hope they do "Infatuation". It is one of my favorite Rod Stewart songs, and also one of my favorite Jeff Beck songs.

Too bad their eyes were closed when Rod was giving Jeff a long hug in the video. Brought more emotion now.
Curtis Mayfield and Jeff Beck are playing this Heaven. Peace Brothers.
This song is a perfect example of Jeck Beck's greatness, an absolute masterpiece!❤
I was waiting for someone to react to this song/video...one of my favorites from the 80s. Graduated high school in '82. Best decade in many ways!

Big Jeff Beck fan, love Rod. Every time I see Rod hug Jeff like that, it's emotional!

Beautiful
In 1969, Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart, as well as Ron Wood (of The Stones) were all members of The Jeff Beck Group, Beck's first band after he left The Yardbirds. Their first album, Truth, is incredible. If you'd like to hear more, I'd suggest checking out Let Me Love You Baby, Ain't Superstitious, and the awesome cover of Ole Man River. The album is as legandary as the members in the band!
Don’t forget The Faces! Ooh La La..! 😂
@@TahoeNevada Oh yeah, Rod and the Faces were incredible!
Faith is the key.... Love you guys.... BIG SMILE!
Infatuation is the 80s song you are looking for and didn't even know it. Rod on vocals and Jeff on guitar. It rocks.
Jeff only did the solo on Infatuation, the other parts were played by Michael Landau.
Two you Should really listen to is Stevie Wonders Cause We Ended as Lovers and Angel Footsteps both the Live at Ronnie Scotts are phenomenal ..Jeff is just a master at what he does
