Rod Stewart was the lead singer in Jeff Beck's band after he left The Yardbirds. The Jeff Beck Group's Truth album is an essential bible for any guitarist. It's considered a seminal work of heavy metal music. Check out Ain't Superstitious, Let Me Love You, and their fantastic cover of Old Man River. Amazing stuff!

The Jeff Beck Group formed in early 1967 with Rod Stewart as their lead vocalist. They've been close as friends and musicians since.
You might want to give a listen to Rod's EVERY PICTURE TELLS A STORY (with Faces [Rod Stewart and Ron Woods, who later joined the Stones, both came out of Jeff Beck Group to form Faces]),
and ATLANTIC CROSSING albums for a better idea of his progress/arc as a vocalist.
Jeff's solo albums and his 3(4?) nights in concert at Ronnie Scott's give a fine picture of Jeff's journey.
These two came out of the same cauldron.

I love Rod Stewart's earlier music like Mandolin Wind, Maggie May, pretty much anything from when he and Ronnie Wood were with The Faces. Jeff Beck is also phenomenal. Check out a piece he did with Donovan called Barabajaggle! Don't know if I spelled that correctly!

Though Rod Stewart is, of course, a soulful rocker, at heart he's really a song interpreter. This song is a fine example of that.
And Jeff Beck's guitar work here is equally stunning.

Beck was an amazing guitarist--always embraced an exuberance for that instrument. His albums are mainly instrumental and transcend a lot of different genres of music. He has a long celebrated history going back to the Yardbirds. He and Rod were in the Faces together, back in the day. Have been friends forever. This was a lovely pairing for this piece--not rock actually--as you can tell listening to the lyric.

I think you would like the original by the Impressions a little lighter on guitar and more emphasis on the vocal harmonies, their music was not only inspirational but a few of their songs were civil rights anthems like "We're a Winner" & "Keep on Pushing" also good are "I'm so Proud" "It's Alright" "I'm the One Who Loves You" & "Gypsy Woman"

Rod sanf for the Jeff Beck Group (Ronnie Wood of the Stones on bass). Worth checking out.
IMO - Jeff is the best guitarist of his generation. Never settled, always tried new genres.
