Jeff is the guitar inovater of all time. His early bands wanted to wait for a sitar player Jeff said why wait i can make my gitar do those sounds. He didn't stop with that,he kept being inventive. He can play other peoples styles other people can't match his styles.
The sad part is that this music is the soundtrack of people around my age. We live with these artists daily and then they are gone. We are so fortunate to have their music!
We lost a really talented musician. Everybody loved Jeff. He was one of kind. We need to keep all this great music alive especially now. I was lucky to have grown up with this music. Rest in peace, Jeff, you will be sorely missed.😢
Rod Stewart is one of my favorite singers ever. I even like his disco stuff. I just remember growing up as a kid and hearing him on the radio all the time. Then as I got older, I went back and listen to his stuff with Jeff Beck, The Faces and his early solo stuff. Became a life long fan after that.
If you want to see an amazing live performance concert (with this song sung by Joss Stone which was incredible) check out Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scott's. It's f*#@in amazing. It will blow your mind.
Jeff Beck in the 60s was in what you could truly say was one of the first Supergroups.. Touting 3 guitar legends as members Clapton Beck and Page. The last 2 were actually in the band at the same time
Beck called upon Stewart in 1967 to join his post-Yardbirds project as a singer and occasional songwriter. Stewart participated in the albums Truth (1968) and Beck-Ola (1969),The decades passed, but the magic was still there. In 1985, the pair reunited on “People Get Ready" Great choice!!! 👍 like you!❤️
Until last month jeff beck was the best living guitar period. One of the all time greats. He is and always will be missed. EVERY note he plays has purpose and personality. Oh…and rod is pretty damn good too😁.
RIP Jeff Beck. Thank you for all the magic. Jeff and Rod go all the way back to the band “Faces”.. y’all would dig their cover of The Temptations - I’m Losin’ You
Rod and Jeff were in a band together in the '60s, so this '90s collaboration was a beautiful reunion for them. So glad you reacted to the music video, it's gorgeously filmed. As much as Jeff and Rod sound like rock stars, damn, do they LOOK like rock stars!!
Wonderful reunion of one of rock's best guitarists and one of rock's best vocalists. As noted below, they were part of The Jeff Back Group and their album Truth, sometimes called the birth of heavy metal, is required listening for any student of guitar. Check out the cuts Shapes of Things, Let Me Love You, I Ain't Superstitious, and the jaw dropping cover of Ol' Man River. Great great stuff.
Jeff was on another level of guitar playing. Rod's early music was his best, imo. His stuff with Jeff Beck Group on the album "Truth" and with the Faces on the album "First Step", two of the best. Agree that you should do Jeff's "Cause We've Ended As Lovers", a Stevie Wonder song, and "Bolero" with members of The Who and Led Zeppelin.
Love this!! Jeff's guitar and Rod's voice are the perfect marriage of musical GREATS! "TRUTH" album was one I played over and over. When these 2 came together MAGIC happened🔮🪄🌈 -and Ronnie Wood!! (Faces) Check out Rock My Primsoul👍🏻✌🏼 And Rod singing The First Cut is the Deepest from ONE NIGHT ONLY. Love to see you react to that for sure❣️will give you a chuckle 😆 Your mom has GREAT musical taste 👑 Dad too!! They sound around my age.
The one regret Jeff always had was not making more music with Rod. If you can find, the Rockumentary - Jeff Beck; Still on the Run is amazing. It really highlights how good he was with opinions from Erc Clapton, Slash, David Gilmore, and Jennifer Batton.
Ahh, too 80s! I really like The Chambers Brothers version of this song and didn't realize Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions did this first. The Jeff Beck / Rod Stewart collaboration to check out is maybe "I Ain't Superstitious" from the Truth album. Also a cover -- in that case covering Howlin Wolf. But the best Rod Stewart stuff is his work with The Faces -- one of the best bands of the early 70s. Check out "Stay With Me" or "Miss Judy's Farm" for some awesome, swampy rock.
Gotta be honest. Thought y'all would have pegged this one before note one. Classic song and incredible cover. Beck needs but a few notes but makes damn good use of every single one. RIP JB. 3 for 3!!! Great job, y'all.
The Jeff Beck band, was the first concert i saw in my German hometown. That is Ronnie Wood on bass btw, pre Faces & Rolling Stones. If you get the chance, have a listen to 'Beck's Bolero,' a masterpiece. Btw, Jeff's former bandmate Kim Gardner (they grew up across the street from each other) and wife Paula opened the famed expat musicians home away from home, the "Cat & Fiddle Pub' in the original Laurel Canyon Village Store, later on Sunset, and more recent on Highland in Hollywood. R.I.P. Jeff Beck, unlike some of his guitar contemporaries who seem to be cruising for decades, Jeff never stopped experimenting and advancing. Good guy, who left us far too soon. He was a tremendous gearhead too. Many years later, through my buddy Terry Reid, I got to meet many of my childhood heroes, and in the late 90's Terry was invited to sing 'People get Ready,' by Jeff. Terry Reid is one the the greatest Brit vocalist, many people never heard of, musicians are his fans.
Gentlemen ... Your discoveries are our rediscoveries. Thank you both very much. Regarding Rod Stewart - Check out his first and second albums "Every Picture Tells A Story" and "Never A Dull Moment" respectively that features wonderful songs like the title track to the first album, plus "Maggie May", then "You Wear It Well" from the second album for starters.
Both top notch and part of the English blues in the days and were friends back in the 60's. Jeff at Scoots is a refined Jeff, and if your looking for Rod Stewart, about any cut off his Unplugged album will give you an nice mix of his music it even includes Mandolin Wind.
Is`nt it a great cover and of course a big bow to Curtis Mayfield ? I think so ! What a great song and what a very cool cover song also. R.I.P Jeff Beck one of the best guitarist worldwide ! Thanks for sharing and best wishes @all from hamburg (germany)
And to think that he was good enough to become a professional soccer player and said no to that! We would have never known his musical prowess! Great song! We really enjoy you two gentlemen, keep it up! If you haven't try Grand Funk Railroads' live version of "Inside Looking Out," I'm sure you'll love it!
This absolutely one of my favorites. I even have it on the Playlist for my memorial service when I pass. Thank you for reacting to it - and for John asking!
EXCELLENT choice Guys! Beck's guitar's sang sweeter than any human voice. NEXT you need to do Cause We've Ended As Lovers, the most beautifully haunting instrumental ballad you will EVER HEAR! Thank you DEEPLY for featuring this masterpiece song!
I couldn't agree more about Jeff's amazing cover of Stevie Wonder's Cause We've Ended as Lovers. It showcases his guitar prowess much better than this tune, IMO.
@@paxonearth not too many people know that Stevie Wonder wrote that song. He originally wrote Superstition for Jeff Beck also, but released it as his own song. He wrote Cause We Ended As Lovers for Jeff as an apology. There's a clip of Jeff playing Superstition with Stevie that's definitely worth checking out.
Explore more Beck. The legend, the uncopyable master of the Strat. Live at Ronnie Scotts from 2007 Insanely talented band with bass phenom Tal Wilkenfeld (18 years old or so} and Jeff, the hot-rod builder who plays guitar like nobody on his spare time lol! Listen to that whole show before you pass to the great beyond! That dramatic enough sell or what .
Check out Big Block from the Crossroads Festival in 2007 he had Vinnie Colaiuta on drums and Tal Wikenfeld on Bass, both great also able to keep up with Jeff. Live performance and you can see how much fun the band had PLAYING.
I see many requests for Beck's Cause We Ended As Lovers. I agree 100%. Many different versions available. Live at Ronnie Scott's or from his Blo by Blow album are the best in my opinion. You guys' are great. Keep up the great reactions.
Just discovered you guys tonight and have already listened to 4 of your reactions. You are doing a great job and playing the music I grew up with and love. Thank you. This video was just beautiful. Watching this and another reaction to "Black Coffee" by Humble Pie reminds me to recommend you take a listen to the band Small Faces. They were a very hot but short lived (3 yrs) British band, which were Critically acclaimed, very popular in Europe (Never in the US except 1 song - Itchicoo Park) and were very influential to later bands. In 1969, singer/guitarist Steve Marriott quit the SF's to form his own band - Humble Pie. The remaining 3 members of SF added Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood who had just quit the Jeff Beck Group to replace Steve. I think this period when Rod sang more bluesy with Jeff and the Faces was his best era. Small Faces family tree expanded into other well known bands. Rod, of course went solo after the Faces split up as did Steve Marriott when Humble Pie split. Guitarist Ronnie Wood and Keyboard player Ian McLagan joined the Rolling Stones, and drummer Kenney Jones replaced Keith Moon in the Who after Keith died. Bassist/songwriter Ronnie Lane continued on solo or with his band Slim Chance, but within 10 years was diagnosed with MS and sadly died after a long drawn out decline in1997. Steve Marriott died in a house fire at aged 44 in 1991. Small Faces best known song was "Tin Soldier", but I really love their early R&B hits like "Whatcha Gonna Do About It", "You need Lovin" (which Zeppelin covered in "Whole Lotta Love", or "All or Nothing". Marriott was highly regarded by his peers and was considered by many to be the greatest soul/rock singer in Great Britain. VERY soulful.
Rod Stewart, along with Ronnie Wood (Faces & Rolling Stones) was in the original Jeff Beck band that did the first two albums (both are classics). Jeff's first 5 albums would have cemented his guitar greatest alone, thank God he gave us even more to enjoy. I have always liked "People Get Ready" and The Chambers Brothers also do a stellar cover of Curtis Mayfield tune (originally done with the Impressions), as do "The Staple Singers" (Marvis on any tune is special) and "Paul Carrack". It's hard to keep a good song down.
Saw both of them many multiple times but never together, so wish I did... This track is one of their highest achievements either together or solo and will be heard forever. Brilliant to say the least and glad you got around to it. Still give you chills. Try Beck's Bolreo at his RR HoF induction, he gets help from Jimmy Page in a special performance. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
Curtis Mayfield...he was something... Now you've gotta hear Beck's Bolero on the album Truth..Beck on lead, Jimmy Page on acoustic, Keith Moon drumming (and screaming), and I think John Paul Jones on bass..and the oldest one in the band is 22 years old. Rod Stewart is the vocalist on that album, too...
Your mom has great taste! Rod's is probably one of the most recognizable voices in music today. "Tonight's the Night," "Sailing," and "The First Cut is the Deepest" are all great Rod songs. I appreciate you guys keeping great music alive. I especially loved the Wes Montgomery song y'all reacted to yesterday.
Jeff is another one of the greats you need to delve deeper into! There is no one to compare him to. He is completely unique. I wouldn’t even know where to tell you to start. Maybe, ‘cause we’ve ended as lovers’ live @ Ronnie Scott’s! ruclips.net/video/VC02wGj5gPw/видео.html Or… ‘Walking in the Sand’ w/ Imelda May ruclips.net/video/FF5mtyPo-Wk/видео.html
Thanks for this! For another Beck/Stewart collaboration, how about a reaction to their video "Infatuation"? I know your Mum would love that one, too! 💙
Two music giants. Great cover. I noticed Beck playing a Telecaster and as fare as I know, that Fender model did not come with "wammy bars" which is his calling card. Maybe I'm wrong.
If you guys wanna hear another song with Jeff Beck on guitar and Rod Stewart on vocals, check out their version of the Elvis Pressley hit All Shook Up from the cd Beck Ola. You won't be disappointed. Kurt from Maine
So, if you want live Jeff Beck, your two best options are "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" from the Crossroads Festival in 2009 or "A Day In The Life" from Live at Ronnie Scott's in 2007. That period he had an AMAZING backing band with Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, Tal Wilkenfeld on bass, and Jason Robello on keyboard. Both are well worth your time.
Great song guys. Regarding superstar guitar player Jeff Beck, I think his best album is Blow By Blow (1975). It's right up your alley :ie. jazz/fusion, hard Rhodes keys, (super) funk and some wonderful blues. Also great piano on the Thelonious tribute and a excellent version of the Stevie Wonder song 'Cause We Ended As Lovers' which I would describe as perfect. The album is all instrumental with top notch players. Of course the guitarist is a legend. It's a great album. I don't usually gush..but. Enjoying your reactions. Later...
Once again, thoughtful and wonderful reaction guys. Thank you. Jeff Beck's "Blow by Blow" record changed things. Funk, Rock, Jazz fusion took a left turn with that one. Anything off that record or do the entire album, as all tracks are worthy, and classic. As you now know, back in the day, the order of songs helped build the integrity of the record and was continuous, not contiguous.
You guys NEED TO LISTEN to the Jeff Beck album BECKOLA! It's the second album with Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck. I saw them play it live in LA when I was 19. It made my hair on the back of my neck stand up! The bass player is Ron Wood who is now with the Rolling Stones. This was the most powerful performance I have ever witnessed. The whole album is in your face Rock except for "Girl from Mill Valley!" which is by the piano player Nicky Hopkins also played with everybody and the Rolling Stones. Plynth (Water down the drain) Rice Pudding, Hangman are all what it was about. I have seen all the classic performers and this still stands out as one of the best. The first album called "Truth" also Jeff Beck and Rod Stewart and is another "Gotta Listen to" ! Rock my Plimsoul, Ain"t Superstitious are classics. Do yourself a favor and check the Beckola and Truth albums out. You will hear Jeff Beck's style like no one else. I will be looking for your reaction videos!
Jeff Beck might be my #1 favorite, and I've been in a sad funk ever since his passing. This is a great song, but I think there are many better. For his early rockers, I'd recommend I Ain't Superstitious from the first album Truth, and Goin' Down from the Jeff Beck Group (orange) album. Probably the closest he has to signature tunes are Cause We've Ended as Lovers (great live version from Ronnie Scott's featuring the great Tal Wilkenfeld, but original studio version is beautiful too) and Where Were You (also great live version on Ronnie Scott's). The song Goodbye Pork Pie Hat from Blow by Blow is all time peak classic Beck. He also did a lot of heavy instrumentals in last half of his career, maybe Big Block, Dirty Mind, Earthquake, Trouble Man are good samples of that? I don't know what the go to heavy late period Beck song is.
Jeff Beck formed Jeff Beck Group after leaving the Yardbirds. Beck tapped unknown singer Rod Stewart for lead vocals. Jimmy Page(at that time the other guitarist in the Yardbirds) found Robert Plant. Truth and Led Zeppelin 1 expand on the Yardbirds. Most people thing f Jeff as this incredible fusion player, and the early rock blues plus records are overlooked. Personally I find Truth to be one of the best sixties album. The band also included Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Nicky Hopkins piano legend, and Mickey Waller and I think Page and Bonham on Beck’s Bolero.
Gentlemen, if you want to hear a sample of Jeff Beck at his best and most unique, I suggest you react to "'Cause We've Ended as Lovers." I think he released that in 1975 (not sure). It's actually written by Stevie Wonder, and Beck got it to record for playing on Stevie's album at the time. Beck was actually supposed to get "Superstition"; but there was NO WAY Motown was going to give that one away because they knew what a hit it was going to be. This caused some bad blood between Beck and Stevie, but they fixed things and Beck did an incredibly beautiful instrumental version of the song I mentioned above.
Riding with the brothers Jeff Beck and rod Stewart...A Curtis Mayfield cover. Curtis was one of the best rhythm guitarists around!! I'm buckled in and ready to roll! You guys are on a big roll yourselves ,talking some great stuff you playing!!! You need to check out ,Worried Down With the Blues ,the live concert video by the Allman Brothers, I'm giving a money back guarantee on that song!!! Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes are hotter than napalm on this one!!! Trust me!!
Great pick fellas. I seen you checked the Chambers Brothers Time Has Come Today. They also do a beautiful cover of this song on that album. Harmonies from heaven. It be worth your time to check it out. Really enjoying your channel. Steely Dan, Yes, Pink Floyd, the (Al)mighty Led Zeppelin, and just recently Iron Maiden. Great work guys from a loyal viewer and subscriber.
Try anything from Truth by The Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart from 1969. A classic Blues Rock album overshadowed by Led Zeppelin's first which came out right after. Or Cause We've Ended As Lovers by Beck.
I saw Jeff Beck documentary he's not music he is music there is a clip where he did a song and Eric Clapton had to follow that and Eric Clapton said how can I follow that it's a showstopper
R.I.P. Jeff Beck
RIP Jeff Beck (2023) No doubt one of the greatest guitarist of all time.
Jeff is the guitar inovater of all time. His early bands wanted to wait for a sitar player Jeff said why wait i can make my gitar do those sounds. He didn't stop with that,he kept being inventive. He can play other peoples styles other people can't match his styles.
Excellent version guys once again rest in peace Jeff Beck
The sad part is that this music is the soundtrack of people around my age. We live with these artists daily and then they are gone. We are so fortunate to have their music!
Have you seen Rod when he was with the small faces? Ronnie Wood on guitar. They were really good.
Jeff Beck played his guitar like a singer uses their voice. A pure organic voice all its own. RIP Jeff.

Still a big hole in a lot of hearts for Jeff Beck. Truly a legend and this is a beautiful tribute. Rod Stewart does it perfectly!
Magnific Song !!!! Magnific Job ROD STEWART & JEFF BECK💥💥💥💥💥
To see and hear Jeff Beck at his best, watch ANYsong off his live performance at Ronnie Scott's on DVD.
Unbelievable!!!

"Gets us all in the end" is one of my favorites from Jeff Beck. By the way, super enjoying your reactions.
Until last month jeff beck was the best living guitar period. One of the all time greats. He is and always will be missed. EVERY note he plays has purpose and personality. Oh…and rod is pretty damn good too😁.
I still can't believe Jeff is gone......seen him live 6 times since 1989.
RIP Jeff Beck. Thank you for all the magic.

Great choice guys! Written by the great Curtis Mayfield who did it with The Impressions. Jeff really made me feel this song.
Rip curtis and jeff 😢🤘❤️. Jeff and rod so friggin young here.i grew up with all 3 and they will always be young to me
Wonderful reunion of one of rock's best guitarists and one of rock's best vocalists. Beautiful version by Jeff and Rod!! Jeff got on board, R.I.P.
As far as old school R&B singers go... its HARD to fuck with Rod Stewart!!! 💯

Beautiful cover. Jeff was so young, RIP. A wonderful instrumental cover of Stevie Wonder's, "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" is one to listen to.

Jeff is another one of the greats you need to delve deeper into! There is no one to compare him to. He is completely unique. I wouldn’t even know where to tell you to start. Maybe, ‘cause we’ve ended as lovers’ live @ Ronnie Scott’s!

Unity.
Epic hear:
Rod Stewart, Sting & Brian Adams - All For One.
All three smokey voices…butter.
Thanks for this! For another Beck/Stewart collaboration, how about a reaction to their video "Infatuation"? I know your Mum would love that one, too! 💙
Try Jeff Beck's "The Final Peace", "Cause we've ended as lovers", and his version of the Beatles "A Day in the life". All great. RIP.
Two music giants. Great cover. I noticed Beck playing a Telecaster and as fare as I know, that Fender model did not
come with "wammy bars" which is his calling card. Maybe I'm wrong.
If you guys wanna hear another song with Jeff Beck on guitar and Rod Stewart on vocals, check out their version of the Elvis Pressley hit All Shook Up from the cd Beck Ola. You won't be disappointed. Kurt from Maine
It's a cover of Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions. Ros Stewart and Jeff Beck definitely did justice to the original.
RIP Jeff Beck.
Eva Cassidy - People Get Ready, good cover of this tune
So, if you want live Jeff Beck, your two best options are "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" from the Crossroads Festival in 2009 or "A Day In The Life" from Live at Ronnie Scott's in 2007. That period he had an AMAZING backing band with Vinnie Colaiuta on drums, Tal Wilkenfeld on bass, and Jason Robello on keyboard. Both are well worth your time.
Nope his early stuff is best
Nope early Beck much better
Brush With the Blues, Live at Ronnie Scott’s, Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers, Freeway Jam, The Pump. That’s just for starters.
Yeah
Curtis Mayfield wrote this song and it's a classic...was a classic when Jeff Beck recorded it.
Curtis Mayfield original version...a classic song for the ages...
Trust me!!
Jeff Beck.... You guys gotta do Freeway Jam
Please play Python Lee Jackson - broken dream. Rod Stewart’s singing on that is amazing. Thank you

A Jeff Beck great..
Rice Pudding 💣
Jeff Beck was actually in a band with Jimmy Page
Rod Stewart "YOUNG TURKS", "LOST IN YOU", "DO YOU THINK I'M SEXY", "INFATUATION". (original videos) 🔥🔥🔥🔥
