    @SimHangerFS Thank you for the coverage! We appreciate it. We soft launched about a year ago. We are currently building our prototype and some great assets to get off the ground. We will release Combat Pilot's Midway themed title in several phases over time. We also continue to build our team and work on our physics, flight models, damage model, geospatial technology, sound and more. We have a long road ahead, but we are dedicated to the cause. You mentioned Jason Williams is heading up the project. Jason was the former CEO of 777 Studios that made Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War and then was the long time Executive Producer of IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles series at 1C Game Studios. He's now teamed up Carlos Flors and his team at Barbedwire Studios (BWS) and their new subsidiary called Entropy.Aero which will be responsible for Combat Pilot development. BWS is the developer of the awesome Gates of Hell real-time tactical series of games. We hope to see some of you at the FS Expo in June in Las Vegas! Please visit www.combatpilot.com for more info and visit our forum and Discord.

      High Tech Creations has a WWII Aviation/Tank/Naval war game out called "Aces High III" which at one time had a large and steady participation. Up until 2016, Friday and Saturday night participation maxed out it's player's capacity of 400, but corporate decisions that were not being asked by the majority of its fanbase, and instead was seeking to introduce a whole new platform which allowed for improved graphics and VR, while not addressing it's 2 biggest issues, cheating and spying by players, took what was once a great game (with its fair share of justifiable complaints) has not turned into just a shadow of its former self. There was talk that maybe Covid Lockdowns who help bring many of it's former players back, but the lockdowns did very little to help increase its already slumped numbers.

    This looks very good - it recalls Sierra's Aces of the Pacific and Microprose's Pacific Air War. Early days, but I hope it eventually expands to include USAAF and IJA aircraft. The Ki-84 'Frank' was one of the best fighters of the war, hobbled in the Philippines by poor quality fuel and lack of spares.

    Ah, the nostalgia of Combat Flight Simulator 2 just hit me watching this - still remember some of the missions in the F4F (strafing Japanese cargo ships, intercepting Vals, trying to protect TBD Devastators). Actually still have the original game files from the CD's on my backup external drive which I've carried over from hard drive to hard drive since 2003. CD's have gotten lost to time, though.
    Will most certainly be keeping an eye on this and get back into flight sim if the chance arises.

    Yeah, this didn't seem to be a direction (i.e the Pacific Theater) that Il-2 Great Battles IP was all that interested in pursuing when Jason Williams was at the helm, and may have been a contributing factor to him leaving the Il-2 team - in what appears, on the surface at least, to be less than amicable terms. In any event, Jason's passion for this Combat Pilot venture seems to be quite significant - and I expect good, if not great things to come of this - for the combat flight sim ecosystem.

      Not sure about that, since IL-2 has expressed interest in it now. An issue was that they didn't have the required technology in the IL-2 game engine, but they are now working on a new engine.

    As much as I'd love a new sim covering this era and subject, I'd love to buy copies of some of those CAD files as STL's even more so I can feed my 3D printer. Those AA guns are tight.

    I loved MS CFS1 and CFS2. I've always been fascinated by the WWII Pacific theater, and this is definitely a first day buy for me! And who knows, maybe this will light a fire under Eagle Dynamics to get their WWII Pacific theater assets done for us. 😀

    I've been playing computer games online since 1972 and have always had a particular fondness for simulator type games. Driving, flying, tanks, or battlemechs, the more realistic and difficult, the better. I've just recently upgraded my PC to get up to speed for VR and also more recently bought a Quest 3. I've had a little luck getting War Thunder working through Steam, but haven't gotten into DCS yet.
    This game looks incredibly interesting and I'll be following it's development. Hopefully it will have full VR support!

    4:30 is that a wildcat or a buffalo? the size of the canopy makes m think Buffalo but it's hard to say with the fire, I just made a model of it so I know that the antena placement corresponds too... I'l look at some pictures! XD
    Edidted: yep, looked it up, it is indeed a Buffalo, the antenna mast on the wildcat was in the back of the cockpit and the bigger cannopy.

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@SimHangerFS I think if I hadn't recently build a model of it I wouldn't have noticed. Especially knowing the wildcat wild be in the game but they haven't talked about the Buffalo.

    DCS and war thunder pretty much already have this covered. They are going to have to do a VERY VERY good job to dethrone war thunder for damage models, flight models and general combat for ww2 aircraft, and if they ever go into modern jets, DCS is basically the de-facto standard with war thunder just behind it.
    The benefit here of another competitor is to force the 2 dominant players (DCS and war thunder) to adapt their games to keep players away from a potential competitor. GHPC didnt really draw players away from war thunder though, so.... maybe this will get the hardcore ww2 sim pilots interested, but i still think war thunder really has that covered, or the IL2 series.

    Im all in, i just hope for a more manageable economy, realistic sims have always been too expensive and small demographics scoped. Sturmovik series was so damn generous in content that everything after it seemed expensive and niche.
