      @@nervouscooks 😮 I'm honoured! 🙏 Btw, there's a naff, cheat way of 'copying' EQ too if you've already split amongst pads: keep hold of the EQ setting whilst switching to another pad. Don't move your EQ finger though! 😉

    Koala/Elf Audio is indeed a one man band, Marek Bereza, he's based in London (like you I believe?) and yes he designs for simplicity and ease of use. If memory serves before he started Elf Audio he used to work for apple as a UI designer.

There were some embarrassing videos in the last few weeks from bigger channels and they failed to mention the new mixer and fx whilst simultaneously asking for features that already existed, and others that will obviously never happen! 😂🤦‍♂️

    Great video, in regards to why there’s only 4 channels… it’s because they are busses, the individual sample slots are the “channels” with EQ, Volume and Pan.
    It’s like having a big mixer with 16+ channels with routing to busses.
    I thought it was a clever concept and you’re right… we don’t need anymore than that.
    I would like some level of automation for the fx slots though, maybe that’s next? 🤔

    Did you do a video showing how to modify the looks of the interface? By that I don't mean the background image but everything else (or is this actually indeed just all on the background (pad color seems to be different 🤔) If you've done a video on it, a link or the video code to it would be much appreciated.

    Great turorial, very helpful!
    But tell me, when i load samples in the first section "samples" and i have some in Group A, how can i start 2, 3, 4..... samples together running synchron.
    I press "hold on" and start a loops. A second loop starts, when the first sample is running and miles away.
    Find no play-function to start all together.....or am i blind?

    • @nervouscooks
      @nervouscooks  11 месяцев назад +1

      You need to put your samples into a “sequence” then hit play. Otherwise you would have to play all the samples/pads at exactly the same time which might be tricky. Use the sequence tab and open up a new sequence. Then add all the samples you want to trigger. If you’re unfamiliar with sequences there is an episode in this tutorial series showing you how to use it. If your loops/samples are all different BPMs you need to timestretch them first. 👍🙂

  • @alexandrosroussos
    @alexandrosroussos Год назад +1

    Thanks for the video. For me it’s not really a mixer they added but the bus section of a mixer, but that makes total sense as we could already mix directly on the pads view as you say.
    I’m fan of the sidechain feature, I’ve been among who were requesting it.
    Now eager to see some vocal fx and like everyone : Auv3 host capability 😉

    • @thekeysman6760
      @thekeysman6760 Год назад +1

      @alexandrosroussos If you listen to Marek recently you'll see he says how easy it is for him to create fx for Koala in this way, and how he isn't doing the .AU thing. Koala was always intended to pay homage to the old school work-flow of standalone samplers like the Akai MPCs & the Boss & later Roland SPs. It was never intended to be a DAW and it won't ever be. He has said as such himself since the beginning, so don't hold your breath! What fx here are for vocals? EQ, reverb, compression, & all else can be used on vox. 😉 And what fx would you like to see for vocals that you were implying?

    • @alexandrosroussos
      @alexandrosroussos Год назад

      @@thekeysman6760 regarding the Auv3. It’s not about FX plugins I would see it, but really to simplify sampling. Right now to sample an Auv3 synth is quite complicated. Either through recording the screen and importing the videos à audio, but it’s quite limited (can’t send midi notes then record) or through another host like AUM but the routing is a bit of a hassle, not really in the spirit of a quick sampling and flipping workflow that we get on the rest of this app.
      If not full Auv3 support, maybe a specific module inside Koala or an independant companion app that would focus on accelerating the workflow of sampling internal audio, including creation of perfect loops through a sequence sent over to the Auv3 app or even other apps such as RUclips/Radio apps etc. I definitely don’t see it as a DAW either and I like a lot the direction it is taking with this Mixer Bus section added that also gathers the FX.
      As far as the FX are concerned, we do have plenty, and probably we’ll get more, that’s why I’m not requesting FX type Auv3 support.
      For the vocals I miss those we find on the MPC or the SP404mk2 : a vocoder, doubler and auto-pitch correction. I see something was started there with the MIC fx in the latest update, maybe it’s there these vocal tools are going to end up 😉

    • @thekeysman6760
      @thekeysman6760 Год назад

      @@alexandrosroussos A Vocoder? That involves both audio & MIDI at the same time to play your voice with a melody! If either the MPC or an SP has that as a plugin, I'll eat my hat! 😂 And you say there is also auto pitch correction on these two too? 😉 Wow. I didn't know that either...I think you're dreaming to imagine that will come to Koala! It's not a DAW, wasn't supposed to be, and never will be.
      And how is plugging in an analogue audio cable from your computer into your Koala device hard, to record your plugin synths? I don't understand.
      I'm not with you on any of this, as we have other tools already, and Koala is just meant to pay homage to the old school work-flow. It's a great sampler & sequencer combo and anything else is a bonus!

    • @alexandrosroussos
      @alexandrosroussos Год назад

      @@thekeysman6760 well, check out the specs of the SP404mk2, does include both a vocoder and auto-pitch input FX.
      You also find those same vocal features on looper boxes such as the RC-505. The MPC does have auto-pitch and doubler. But for me the closest to what koala is intended for is the SP workflow with some more advanced sequencing capabilities.
      Not asking for a DAW workflow. Bringing input FX to a sampler is not at all shocking to me, especially if the given app doesn’t host external Auv3 FX.
      Typically samplers are all about grabbing sound and modifying it, most often with FX.
      And in-app purchases on Koala : haven’t they been there to add bonus features anyway ?

    • @thekeysman6760
      @thekeysman6760 Год назад +1

      @@alexandrosroussos Oh, wow! 😊 The MKII does have a proper vocoder! I'm amazed! Okay, I now see what you mean when you equate it to be okay to at least expect such features in Koala, when comparing it to these features in a standalone. For me in my life, these fx have always been a 3rd party plugin for a daw, & have slowly been added by the daw developers. I guess the MKII changed all this when it arrived! Thanks. I learn something new everyday!
      I'm not sure what you're implying by the Koala purchases being "bonuses" when they obviously are, yet to some were imperative, but then it's important to remember how much functionality standard Koala offers for its low price. It's all relative as we are no doubt looking at it from different perspectives and plus I have no expectations from Marek as you may do. He's spent a long time doing this latest purchase himself and I couldn't possibly start asking for more, especially when it's going to be based on my subjective wants.
      There are enough options out there, and using a daw anyway, I'm happy for Koala to be whatever it is.
