I personally don't think Terraria will ever die for two reasons. One is that it's fan base is extremely dedicated, to a same degree of the fan base of Geometry Dash. And despite over 7 years of no updates, Geometry Dash grew in size, it did not stagnate or shrink at all in any of those 7 years. The second reason is that Terraria is one of if not the only perfect game to ever be made. In the indie and small studio development world, a lot of teams are looking to Terraria to make their games succeed, meaning that Terraria will very likely be a model for gaming for many, many years to come. Also, ReLogic just doesn't seem to know how to end support so I have a feeling that the true final update is going to happen for a LONG time.
And let's not forget Relogic are some of the, dare I say, THE best game devs out there. Sure their studio may not be the biggest or fanciest but I can say with my chest they actually love the content they make for the game, it's community and themselves unlike most game devs these days *cough* Activision
It will die, but not for many years
Geometry dash is awesome just like terraria

Terraria and Minecraft are two games that are the oldest “alive” games I have ever seen it’s safe to say terraria is immortal
Team fortress been out since 2007. But yeah, actively getting updates?
Terraria actively takes suggestions and feedback from the playerbase and even adds some into the game.
Minecraft on the other hand is owned by Microsoft which is a bunch of cooperative money grubbers that care not for the community and would rather be hypocrites about adding “real” creature's into the game and letting literal slavery be the meta for getting good gear.
Half life 1 been released since 1998 and they still have 2k players
@@drewholmes7356 yeah I mean in terms of major updates
I'm sure World of Warcraft hold the title for that
minecraft isnt that alive anymore
Tbh I think they'll eventually do Terraria 2, since Redigit never said it was cancelled, and a Terraria with endless worlds sounds amazing
fr i want it to be endless
which also means no more oceans lol
@@MrBreast-gc4zi I believe that if it was endless, there would be different islands, which could also mean a bigger and more content-heavy ocean biome
@@goldscape6875 Yeah, in one of my worlds I made the spawn into a big ocean, of course it didn't change its biome but there's a huge lake with tons of ruin builds under the water and it does look and feel really cool to have oceans or big lakes in the middle of worlds, infinite worldgen would probably do the same thing and make mutiple ocean biomes.
How would they even go about that?
As long as the community continues to keep the game alive, it will. Just like how Geometry Dash survived for over a decade with little to no update, yet player count peaked when 2.2 was released
Tf2 moment
Terraria is like cousins ,they come and never leave.
I don't think terraria will die ever because of how beloved the game is and the fanbase. Even if a final update comes out there's still going to be people playing it all of the time. The fanbase will continue supporting this game for a long time, go look at other series like megaman that are still alive because of the fan community.
Or team fortress 2
@@smiller6986 that's another good example
If there were a Terraria 2, exciting possibilities could include enhanced graphics, expanded biomes, more diverse creatures, advanced building mechanics, and perhaps new multiplayer features for an even richer gaming experience.Additional features could involve an extended progression system, new crafting options, more unique boss battles, deeper exploration mechanics, and a dynamic weather system to add another layer of realism and challenge to the gameplay. And of course a 3D World Id Love if they put the option where you change the camera angle of the game and you can turn it into 2D like the first one, simillar thing they did to GTA 3 If people wanted the 2D Look Anyways Great Video Keep Up Bro!
I honestly think terraria will never die!
7:00 "If you want an actually legit method, go beg MatPat in the Gametheory comments" - this aged well :P
:(
Terreria wont die when its creators have passed it will have lived its purpose and will then rest like a successful experiment
Its never gonna die during my lifetime, imma be playing this game till im on my death bed
1 word: MODDING
This will continuously keep Terraria alive for at least a couple more decades as there is a near endless amount of modded content to consume, and more and more revolutionary modding content is created every day.
Long as terraria keeps getting its “final” update, it will live
bro i’ve just looked at your youtube for the first time in ages and i’m so glad to see you’re blowing up, so much love bro good work ❤
Appreciate that homie ♥️
I think they need to add in app purchases like vanity sets or something because the only way they can earn money now is by NEW people buying the game, MEANING they don’t get any money from dedicated fans that love it and play it all the time :/
Re-logic after updating the game and saying it’s their last update then suddenly updating the game again: I ALWAYS COME BACK
5:45 mf I (accidentally) started playing Terraria when I was 8 💀💀
I remember that my friend was very happy with Terraria, but a week later he wasn't interested in it anymore because he liked FNaF more
Give it time, he’ll come back
There’s some big Terraria mods but I really thought the modding scene would be bigger.
"VR will be a standard." As a quest owner with motion sickness it's a scary thing to hear... :(
Strange to think that one day terraria will actually have its final update
every game will have a final update
terraria for me consists of an endless cycle of burning myself out after beating two playthroughs in the span of a week (modded or not) and then getting burnt out and leaving for a month and then coming back for another seven playthroughs
6:27 my face just contorted completely seeing you do that lol. I could never have terraria uninstalled from my PC unless I need to reset, but when I power on and install steam terraria is one of the first games that gets installed immediately, bro This Game is What Minecraft Should Be, love it so much~ also split gate was cracked but like... titanfall 2 juice 😅
“This game is what Minecraft should be” That's what I thought too.
Unless everyone (devs included) suddenly decide to move onto terraria 2 then maybe
terraria wont die if you factor in tmodloader but i think terraria by itself will get an expire date
my kids definetly playing Terraria lol
Nah its Still Growing In Popularity
As long as I exist this game will never die
Only way for terraria to die is if they release an even more goated terraria 2 with not only all the terraria content but even more stuff that you wouldnt want to miss out
Or they get bought out by a bigger company like how Mojang did
Devs are gonna become immortal and continue updating Terraria even after the heat death
😲
Its a damn near perfect game...
The only flaw probably IS the replay value...
the facts are true i just dont want to accept it
Personal theory: although the game won’t last forever but the legendary music will always be remembered & used beyond the game’s ultimate demise.
I don’t really thin it will ever truly. Die the community is too strong

As long as they don't mess with the magic. I have seen games players were excited about die horrible deaths because the developer made some out of the blue radical change that completely killed the game. I am thinking about a space themed voxel game. The energy system was completely reengineered one too many times. I believe the guy wanted to kill the game. It does not make sense any other way.
Literally Minecraft in a nutshell
from the creators of ''minecraft is dying'': terraria is dying
Completely forgot that existed lmao

i have around 55 hours in terraria and i kinda stopped playing it and got bored of it. i am currently on thr stage of building an arena for plantera on expert
Just saying they could definitely make terraria 2
and while i love terraria to death, it probably will some day, as do all games.
Yes, Kanye’s famous song ‘Mythrildigger’

@@ShardonOk Yeah, I liked late-game hellhole, too.
Will it die? Yes but not yet, not by long shot
when terraria eventually does stop getting updates, i think the one main thing that will keep it alive is the modding community, since if the devs stop, the modding community is always there to take their place and make new stuff, it would kinda become like gd, where the game is fueled off of community creations
And then of course there’s always the looming issue of… *compatibility errors*
You know, userspace breaking. The game may not be updated, but the operating systems they are on will.
TERRARIA IS IMMORTAL LIKE MINECRAFT
Not unless a sequel is released
It'll never die. I've burned out hard from the game 3 times and just recently got a hunch to play again. It doesn't have to be played in the linear fashion
Terraria will not die but gradually the regular players will leave and there will be only completionists and grinders who play just for getting all the 9999+ items from mods and completing... everything they can (of couse, without enjoying)
idk why, but in every new update note of Terraria, there is a comment at the top of the discussion section with many awards: Dead game.
Well, terraria is in the “immortal” club right next to TBOI, geometry dash, TF2, deep rock galactic, and borderlands 2
Fair
What is tboi?
@@QuiltedGinger the binding of Isaac
An old flash newgrounds game that still holds up today
@@Toasterizer9000 ehhh that ones debatable (TBOI) considering it isnt nearly as recognizable. I'd say its probably about as alive as Super Meat Boy
@@MauveDash fair enough but it still has a stable player base I think
Nah,this game will become iconic game for the Newgen kids in year 2077.
I think the wise move would be to do a "Spelunky 2" approach to a sequel for Terraria. Improved visuals, improved mobility, improved AI and more of everything else with an additional layer to the end game. that would be the safe play. Terraria in 3D??? That could work too...like Risk of Rain 2...same game, new camera angel...?!?!? But yeah, they'll definitely keep adding to Terraria OG for a while until a sequel arrives and then that will just take over. This brand/IP could last forever...I would just love to see more Terraria...more biomes (space with planets with special ores), more enemies and bosses (maybe gods too!!), more items...more quest NPC's...deeper fishing/farming mechanics. Either way, I'm sure we won't be disappointed with the end result...they are pros!!
It dies the moment you realize you have no friends to play with
Not me. I prefer my own world
give me a metroidvania made by relogic
Terraria has about the same amount of players it always had. 30,000.
dieing? not for me i can always play then stop then play again and still enjoy it
Bro discoveres modded terraria:
for one I still play dragon quest builders 2. it is not dead yet as it never even had a large audience.
Terraria will remain alive if it stops updating at some point. Else it'll end up like Minecraft, having lost its identity and on the verge of dying the moment someone bumps the table and brings the whole tower falling down.
1:37 how many attempts did that take you to do?
Enough

Terraria is less mainstream because I've only met one person who has played or is even interested in it IRL. However, the fanbase who do like Terraria will stick with it for a long time.
NEVER DIE!!!
"Heroes Never Die!"
bro im 12💀and got zenith
Terraria mobile could die in a short amount of time due to its lack of content. It has no mods like the PC version and after beating the game over and over it would get boring as it already has for me and many other mobile players. Currently most terraria PC players implements monds into their playthroughs which makes the game better and adds more content. Mobile players dont have such luxury and the game becomes less and less replayable as you play it.
russian terraria clone Orion, still lives and has a small community despite being a clone of a more popular game
even if terraria dies
Itt is ALLOWED to die
