I would imagine that probably had more to do with his grades than his innate intelligence, if you can't sit still/focus on what the teacher is saying, or what you're reading, it makes it difficult to learn anything. And also reservation system where lower caste dalits get first seat in good colleges even though they dont study and for upper even if u study your ass off and get 98% still u will not get admission in any colleges.

Boy can I relate to not being diagnosed. I was an unbelievably poor student and the school system just kept pushing me through, year after year until I went back to school in my late twenties to get a Paramedic degree, (ended up talking a registered nursing course as no work at that time for paramedics), and all of a sudden I was on the honor list and received a bursary for it.... Amazing what you can accomplish when you're diagnosed properly and WANT to be in school... *: )*

Now they have nice pigeon hole labels to place children in so they can deal with better.

Where as my mom would say, become and engineer or doctor and if you don't, people are going to put black paint on their face, bcos i was son of a teacher mother. I loved my dad more than my mom, but she was a vision leader in our house. Without her I would never have become an engineer and be absolutely successful in everything I did.
My little brother hates school too, especially in elementary grades. My parents then only ask him to get the required mark to pass. But one time he gets a good mark of 80+ on 5 subjects, but not the science and math one. Only because my mother promise him money if he can get 80 :D
