      If only they changed that kamikaze collector thing. Having an item selected should have that limpet prioritise that kind of items, not collect that one and suicide. I recently learned that you can reuse the limpet if you launch one without having something selected

      @@braisfigueira5032 if the limpets never ran out of juice you'd only need to buy 20 or so instead of filling up half your cargo racks with replacements. Each limpet has its own range and amount of damage it can take before it blows up. Some do seem to be a little suicidal though.

    I'm still learning mining, but I'm planning out a cutter. Docking computers are a life saver since you don't have to worry about scraping the mail slot, when the docking computer is not mimicking a drunk in the cutter. I switched to a Krat phantom to learn, as learning the mechanics is just as important as ship selection. Now that I know what I am doing, I just need the credits for the Modules. A fleet carrier is not cheap, but comes in handy for material storage.

    Good video, well presented and you covered nearly everything. Here are a few suggestions that might make your mining better, which you can pass to others if you want when you're ready for your ultimate guide.
    1. The Cobra is a bad mining ship. The T6 absolutely trounces it and costs the same. It has superior cargo capacity and the Cobra can't get the advantage of its larger hardpoints because of its class 3 PD. The travelling time is the limiting factor with these ships, and the T6 can spend more time mining and less time travelling.
    2. A weapons focused PD will always give faster mining. The PD is the limiting factor on any mining ship, so it should be first priority.
    3. Hotspot mining for platinum is old school. Haz RES mining is significantly faster and just as safe if you do it right, especially in a small ship. Even a Python will be filled up before the pirates take any interest. In a Haz RES there's no need for a DSS, which is a big advantage when using a small ship.
    4. You forgot to mention to keep your nose close to the rock ad shoot lasers at the lower half to speed up collection of fragments. The time to collect goes up exponentially as the distance increases, which is one of the reasons the PP mining lances are mainly useless.
    5. Never take weapons on a mining ship. In the time it takes to kill any pirates, you could get more money by mining. I can see that you had that idea, but you should have been more emphatic IMHO.
    6. The pre-engineered mining lasers from Mbooni are much better than standard ones. They allow you to have 7 lasers on a Cutter.
    7. Don't waste time with abrasion blasters or any of the mining tools that aren't lasers. It's more efficient to to mine with the lasers all the time, provided that you have other things optimised.
    These comments are aimed at ultimate mining efficiency and maximum earnings. This is what I learned from mining 1/2 million tons and earning around 250 billion credits from mining mainly platinum. Only one guy has mined more than me in the history of the game. I get around 120 million an hour using a Python and 200 mil/hr with a Cutter. I'm pretty sure that my Python beats my Anaconda, but I never tested back to back.

    For laser mining, I feel an argument can be made for the Imperial Cutter being the perfect tool. 512t, all the power you can ask for, enough weapons to turn any npc pirates into a bonus payout and stupid amounts of shielding even on a class 6 module. Add in enough fuel and range to get almost anywhere and she has no equal.
    I’m man enough to admit she’s a bit large for comfortable core mining (still works though), the Corvette is the king of PVE and the Anaconda has no equal for jump range.
    I have 5-10 times more hours in the Cutter than any other ship and I don’t see that changing lol.

    • @Mile13Gaming
      @Mile13Gaming  5 месяцев назад +1

      Indeed, once you sit in the Cutter, everything else seems like a toy. :) Like you said, I prefer the Krait for core mining because it's more maneuverable, but the cutter for laser mining is so quick and nice.

    Sell your docking computer! Great advice. I've been preaching for years. Landing manually teaches you the fine controls of ship handling. It's one of the best ways to get better at flying. While you're at it mining, the asteroid fields are a great place to learn FA off, even if you don't use it all the time. It's fun to set up a geosynchronous orbit on a roid while lasering it.

    The Cutter and Python can both be outfitted to do all 4 types of mining at the same time w/out having to swap modules/hardpoints. The Python layout does not have a fuel scoop, but both have shields. With no fuel scoop on the Cutter, you have 512 tons of cargo space. When I want to go mining, I simply jump my FC to the system where I'm going to mine, then hop in my Cutter and go mining.

      @@Mile13Gaming I got sick and tired of having to decide on a specific type of mining, outfit my ship to do it, then go out into the ring only to discover that the specific type of mining I wanted to do wasn't very time efficient. So I used EDSY to figure out which ships could do all 4 types of mining w/out having to swap out modules or hardpoints. With some limits, I found that only the Python and the Cutter could do it. The Cutter is a much better ship to do it inside the bubble and out in the black especially if you have a FC to dock at and unload nearby. The Python is really nice out in Colonia where the stations are really close due to the higher system density in that region compared to the bubble. Also, the Python is nice because 1) You can buy it out in Colonia w/out having to buy it at a FC and 2) a lot of the stations that give out the best rates for mined materials do not have large landing pads out in Colonia. Being able to do all 4 types of mining (Laser, surface, sub-surface, and deep core) at any time means when you have a hankering to 'go mining' you just hop in your Cutter/Python and 'go mining'. You don't have to decide what type of mining you're going to do and then outfit your ship accordingly. Sure using a all-4-types-of-mining ship means you can't max out your cargo holds, but it still takes me 3.5-4.5 hours to fill up the 512 tons of cargo space on my cutter doing all 4 types of mining and that's still a full day's worth of play for me. Once you've had a chance to try all 4 types of mining please post an update video of your thoughts on it. Oh, and if you're curious to know what my Cutter loadout for all-4-types-of-mining, I can send you the EDSY link to the outfitting.

    Beluga Miner afficionado here. 4 medium lasers and a sub-surface displacement missile just in case. 288 cargo space, just cause I don't have time for a full 500 tons session in a Cutter. I know, you'd tell me the Conda could very well do the job, but Saud Krugers just have this tendency to be quite nimble in all directions, including yaw and vertical/horizontal strafing. And one more thing: the cargo scoop is placed towards the front of the ship, so it became easy to position yourself right on top of the chunks to collect, so the collectors pick them up REAL quick. PS: 6A Power Distro w/Weapon Focused and Cluster Capacitors is a must if you want to go through a whole asteroid on a single laser burst and not having to recharge.

    My favorite mining ship is a Vette (MAJOR MINER), I run five class 2 and two class 1 pre-engineered mining lasers, letting me burn down asteroids on one shot without overheating in about 17 seconds.
    I run 17 collectors and two 3A prospectors (one is on 1, the other is on 2 in the same fire group, this way I can launch 4 in about the same amount of time as 2).
    I also use a 6c Bi-weave shield so when I arrive at an asteroid I can bump into it insuring that I am close as possible, this makes a huge difference in the speed of collection, I only have to wait a couple seconds for the collectors to finish up after the asteroid is depleted.
    Also I'm curious, why not Weapon Focused PD? If I switch to Charge Enhanced on my Vette I will loose 7 seconds laser Duration (12 seconds VS 19 seconds), pretty much the same on my Python laser miner (9.6 VS 16)- Maybe its because I run a bunch of lasers lol
    This is by far one of the best tutorials I've seen, Nice job!.

      @@Mile13Gaming Yeah it has great internals for mining, and a class 8 PD like the Conda, It doesn't have as good of a limpet corridor as the Cutter though (how far below the ship the collectors have to travel before they make their upwards trajectory to the cargo hatch), this used to slow me down until I figured out you have to put the nose right against the asteroid, preferably at the axis of rotation so your ship doesn't get beat up as bad lol.
      Also another trick I just recently figured out is how to make the fragments spawn from whatever laser you want, all you have to do is put your prospector(s) on a separate fire group, then you put all but one of your lasers on '1' and put the laser you want the frags to spawn off of on '2', then just activate the lasers on '1' slightly before you activate the laser on '2', the frags will spawn off of the '2' laser, you want this to be the laser on the bottom of ship so limpets have less distance to travel to the limpet corridor. 😅

    This seems to have fallen out of use, but...
    Collector limpets don't have any sense of self preservation. As a result, they don't pay attention to the rotation of the rock and get themselves unalived by getting in the path of the rotation. You can mitigate this by aligning your ship with the rock so that you are at the bottom of the rock with the rock spinning left to right (I might have this backwards, I am still assembling my hardware after a couple of years away and haven't had a chance to get "in the field").
    This will throw the fragments clear of the rock, moving the pickup area out of the area where limpets are likely to be crushed and extending their usefulness.

    Overlapping hotspots are still very good places to mine. The thing that was nerfed was overlapping hotspots of the same type; still, these are slightly better to mine at than a solo hotspot.
    I imagine we can find an overlap of void opals, platinum, and LTD's. though, the best i have personally found is an overlap of LTD and void opals.
    Imagine every single asteroid is filled with (admittedly, not the same) valuable materials at a higher concentration than normal.

      wow they really nerfed laser mining back into oblivion lol According to Inara my highest single transaction is 808,689,664Cr. That has to be from mining ( either triple LTD or Painite ) because I haven't done much AX except killing a few interceptors with a friend but never enough to earn real money from it. Thats a full cargo of minerals ( not counting the bins in the refinery ) sold in one. I was just curious of the severity of the nerf but never really mined Platinum so cant really compare but I guess it must be one of the top end mineral you are mining it.
      That being said I always enjoyed being out in the belt looking for minerals, its really relaxing with a friend or even alone. Putting on something to watch or listening to podcast or an audiobook is the best way to do it, not a bad life at all :)

    I love deep core mining, but getting something near to 46 million in 5 hours is a bit small number when i can kill enemy troops on high intensity battles (in odyssey) for 15 million per one battle.
    I will check this way of mining out, maybe this time selling by quantity is better than rarity.
    Anyway it will be also a welcome change to not make mining too repetetive.
    Update 1: mining platinum for 2 hours was nice, I will proceed to mine more with lasers.
    Update 2: I have mined some more and I think mixing laser mining with core mining is a good idea. Pulse wave analizer will show where are meteoroids with higher concentration of ore, so you loose less time and if you bump into one with platinum core, THIS is where the fun begins!

      @Mile13Gaming  4 месяца назад +1

      Love it! Nice! Yeah, mixed mining trips are nice to break up the monotony a bit. Though, sometimes I go just for the meditative, repetitive nature of it.
      Tell me more about getting 15M in one battle. Is that for mission rewards, or high-intensity conflict zones, or...?

    • @darkdragonwithblackscales7450
      @darkdragonwithblackscales7450 4 месяца назад

      @@Mile13Gaming Yes i meant High intensity conflict zones, paid in combat bonds. I wanted to write amount of money per time frame (like hour), but the more time you spent killing, the more money you get.
      So the idea is to kill as much enemies as possible, but allow them to capture control points. It's important to let them have as much of those "battle points" as possible, because each time a vulture with new batch of enemies shows up, it costs 5 points.
      Fighting enemies on that difficulty is not easy, unless you waste some time to upgrade some gear.

      @@Mile13GamingIf you stack pirate massacre missions, you will probably make more money than with platinum mining. I collect my missions in Sol for example. The. always have some good missions, though the payout depends on your rank and your reputation. For example if you are able to stack two missions for 40 million Credits each, you only have to kill 30 pirates and you have 80 million credits. And that's usually doable in an hour (maybe even less). You have to have a very capable combat ship though. And the bounties come on top.

    o7 Mile 13 Gaming, I've got a strange question that a 750+ hr. player as myself shouldn't have lol...but anyway...I can't figure it out and on your screen it worked as expected.
    When I go and sell anything whether it be Cartographic Data or Platinum etc. I only get about 64% of the value that it says I will be getting. (You got 98% in this video)
    So for example I just sold a load of platinum and the screen showed total income of 26,237,275 credits but when I clicked sell I only received 16,791,856 credits.
    Is there something I am missing like going to a wrong station or bad setting in game or what??

      Thanks for reminding me! Do you have any NPC crew members, like fighter pilots? Apparently, crew members take a cut if they’re active, even if you’re not using them, even if they’re not in the same ship. So remember to deactivate them if you’re not using them. I probably still have a harmless fighter pilot active, which explains the tiny 2% cut. (And obviously, they're not active on my Adder!)
      That's my best guess, anyway.
