Alright Commanders listen up, I think this is Hawkes Gaming 3rd video on how to have the best start in Elite Dangerous so pay attention because he knows his stuff. Been watching him for years and helped me get started when I was very lost years ago. I love this game and thank you Hawkes for your service to my favorite space game. o7 Commanders

Im a returning Vr commander and since i’ve never played odyssey This is perfect. Thank you commander ! (And for those that are interested they have optmized the game in the last year, and my average laptop can now run odyssey in VR which was far from possible previously)
I can consider myself an Elite veteran at this point with 5 accounts and all of them with Fleet Carriers and boat load of money but I'm still here watching Hawkes' video, why? because believe me, he freaking now his stuff, how do you think I did all my grinding on all of those accounts? yes, by following Hawkes' tips. Consider this video as a shortcut to mid-game, without this, you will be flying around aimlessly in space, unless that's what you're really going for, then it's fine. o7 commanders, see you in space.
Elite commander here Hawkes but wanted you to know I watched anyway and liked the video. Even I learned a few new tricks. Thank you for all that you do brother. I can’t be the only one with a Robigo python named Hawkes.
I followed this guide to the letter from start to end and after 1 week exactly I got my FC. There's a bit of googling here and there to find out how to get stuff done (like using EDSY to figure out how much materials needed to engineer the cutter) but otherwise this is a really clear guide and perfect if you have 1-3 other wingmates who also want an FC. Thanks Hawkes!
I was sitting at my comp bored. And thought I wonder if Elite Dangerous is still around from being a kick starter back in '14 I'm glad to see the game is still evolving. I'm coming back looks fun still.. Thanks for the video it helped me.
TBH I dont think any new player will take away anything from this video. You are telling then what to do, without telling them why to do it or how to do it. And you are skipping over some important stuff. New player doesnt know what a 2A FSD is, or that reducing weight gives you higher jump range.
Just in time for a couple of personal friends interested in playing. I showed them some of your recent stuff too! And some older stuff that helped me explain some of the hidden fun behind the top layer of Elite. Always excited to see an upload brother!!!!
What are the chances you can do a more in depth video of expansion farming for the boom trading very interested in this. However have not been able to replicate this.
guys disable drive assist on srv. it'll feel much better to drive. man i started loving srv after disabling that shit. and rebind the forward and backwards to w and s just like any other normal vehicles
this game looks fun. i want to enjoy it. so far i've yet to complete a mission. no guidance on what to do. gonna try to follow this guide, but it's honestly all just too much for me.
By faaaaar THE best ED tutorials. I've been playing for 2 weeks, and while I got pretty good at dogfights and planet encouters, your ways made me more money in 4 hours than I did in my 80 previous hours. Hats off to you, sir!
Why wouldn't you give us amounts to buy at the material trader at 19:14? This guide is very helpful but as a new player you are glaring over some very needed explanations.
would you be able to do a more in depth dive on the mining/trade missions? i followed the instructions on this video but i was only ever able to find one using your instructions (argro station with expanding faction). i was able to get a few more on various different stations but there is never more than one or two missions.
@@theodore7313 your not wrong. You will get there. If I could give a piece of advice. Don't chase high specs, a mid tier pc with say an i7 10700k and a 3060 or the amd equivalent will be very solid for the average gamer
Just imagine that these days chickens can go to a shop and simply purchase a Guardian FSD booster for stpd money ( And they don’t understand what’s a problem to ride to a 1000000 ls station with passengers. They can even disembark from a ship and pick up 95 mlns from a ground without making a footstep….
Hello Commander, once again, another excellent and brilliant video for Elite Dangerous. What we will do without YOU. We miss you so much. I hope more videos are coming soon my dear friend. You are an inspiration. No more words than THAT.
Great video as always CMDR. Re the guardian pylons, I learnt very early on that it's easier (for me) to drive around and raise all the pylons first. Then it's easier to find them when you zoom round doing a speed lap to charge each one after against the timer. I always start from the 2 at the alter and zoom round charging all the others. Just calling this out as most guides show each pylon being raised and charged at the same time, and could give new users the impression it HAS to be done this way. o7
I just flew to the HIP 98878 galaxy and I'm at the star. I did the 75% slow down key but I don't see how to find the pirates. It looks like you have an extraction site targeted and are in an asteroid belt, but I don't see that anywhere. What did I do wrong? Trying to find the pirates in the beginning of the video.
Trial and Error'd this one. Look for a planet HIP 98878 2 in the system map and target it. Start heading for it and mouse over the little brown circle contacts as you get close to the rings around it. Those will start showing up as extraction sites, also gives a quality rating. You want High or Hazard for best pirate results. Once you drop out, look for a lot of blinking lines flashing towards a single point, it's usually a target surrounded by the system authority. Oh, and don't ignore the "wait til under 20%" part, I got a little over-confident, and they shaved 22% of my hp off before I learned my lesson there. Once you get the hang of it, kill stealing from the system authority is pretty decent cash.
@@BrianComradovichRadovichGot all that. Found a hazardous and a high. Zero combat at either 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ just tons of ships flying around doing nothing ….. aaaaand this is why I quit playing this game the last time 🫡
@@BrianComradovichRadovich Thanks mate. I was in the same position. Ice Fields in the video but I'm sitting here looking at a star. Great video but would have been nice if he left that part in.
Should probably add that the Extraction Zones are in Space Rings... and that you need to look at the system map and explore the locations near ring planet for the POI. That and to scan the Nav Beacon
I am brand new to this game. How do I know the person is a pirate, when I scan it says wanted is that it?? And no one else is attacking so how do I wait for the health to go low
You just point your ship at the other ship, target lock on, and let it scan on it's own. With better scanners it goes faster. If no one else is fighting the pirate, you're on your own! Ether try to fight and maybe other friendlies will show up, or just flee. In FSD flight, look for "Weapons Fire" signals. Those are usually good guys fighting a bad guy, so to speak. "Conflict" though is usually two factions fighting, so unless you don't mind getting a bad rep hit with one faction, (picking a side), avoid those signals. Also, if you come out of FSD close to a busy planet/moon, especially one with resources for mining, there is often s little battle or two going on between a pirate and a 'good guy'. Hey I'm a relatively new player too.
Like @yourdonefor4454 said, after scanning them (singular) it will show "wanted". Then you should either fight, or run away. If you're referring to CMDR Hawke's statement to wait for others to bring their >(singular) shields down, if no one else (NPC's) are fighting then you are on your own. If the pirate is not attacking you, as soon as you attack, then they>(singular) will attack back. In a generic sidewinder I would recommend retreating. Remember this, a friendly will show up as green, a neutral as yellow, a hostile enemy as red. I made the mistake early on thinking that ment health, so I was attacking the green. Oops! 😆
I am kinda stuck at the start where i go and have to "wait" before i kill those pirates for bounty... the problem is that they aren't fighting... or if they are... there are 3-4-5 pirates vs. 1 ship....
37:23 guys if your local rep isn’t going up after selling cartographics, you need to exit to main menu and go back in just like hawkes did. But he didn’t say anything abt that so i was confused for a few minutes
i REALLY dont understand the entire faction expansion part. Can you make a detailed video about how to do you "research"? all those buzzwords dont help a new player.
Not sure what you mean by buzzwords. When Im explaining exactly what I show on screen. I have an older video on making billions that also does expansion. It'll be the same information but maybe a bit more.
I’ve been a console commander for years and I’m using this vid to prepare to finally make the leap to Odyssey, seeing Felicity Farseer in person was a jumpscare lmao
I can't seem to find the right faction. I've tried several times, but each faction only has a few missions for 40-50kk, and once I finish them, they don't appear anymore. How to find the right faction, can you please help me? I'm stuck there.
Thanks for the guide, Commander. Also FYI, had a big brain moment and also forgot the Galvanized Alloys - but, there was a station 1 jump away that solved all my problems. o7
Hey instead of going after the pirates I was paid 14million just for doing genetic samples on a planet in the starter system. No jumps required and no pirates to worry about, and that was only 1 of the planets, though I got lucky because I never scanned the planet.
Is any of this even relevant if you don't have Odyssey? I haven't played in years so I was looking for a refresher. All of this is completely alien to me, though.
A rehash of an already great tutorial, great work man. I used your other guides when i first started. Thanks for the info even I didnt know. keep it up :)
Hey man thanks for the guide, it's been very helpful so far. Except the part where you have to select a player faction to ally with. Can you elaborate on how to choose them, I tried inara search with the same params, but when I arrive at the station they don't have those fat 50mil missions like you showed. 15 million is the max that I saw. You said "Do the research to make it worth while", how do I do that?
Just started playing ED for the first time and have no idea how I slept on this game! Playing with a dual joystick setup is so awesome. I imagine playing in VR would be next level.
Is Odyssey the same as the version on ps4? After beating the pilot licence tutorial that the game immediately dropped me in I realised this seems like a super hardcore space exploration sim so I came to yt for tips 👉👈
If you modify your route settings to have only KGBFOAM stars you will always be able to scoop the star. If you turn off the lights of your SRV in low light conditions actually helps spotting things because the rest of the image on your screen will not be dimmed. What if I don't have any friends?
Always a great guide, Just reset my 2nd account and will be looking at following this guide - Will you be updating you material and engineering guide following the new update?
as of my date, a lot of the exchange rates and credit rewards have been nerfed. For example, adaptive encryptors on your play trade at 2/3. On my version its 36/1
Amazing guide Hawkes Gamin! Thank you so much for helping us with the information and step by step. I have a quick question about the Bertrandite, Gallium and Indite trade. I have 2 systems which are in Expansion right now - Ugrashtrim and Venegana. Both in expansion state, both have good amount of space stations with large landing pads. My issue is when I go into the missions on any of the stations in the systems, I don't find a single mission for any of the 3 materials. Is this a bug or am I missing something?...Both systems went into expansion just today so its fresh, I don't have a high rank yet with the player faction but I think that even if I'm not ally with them I will still see the missions for ally...can you give any advice please? highly appreciated and thanks again for the great video! Edit: the missions showed up eventually, even without being ally I see the 50mil mission...all good mate!
How do I know when I've scanned enough lifeforms and it's time to go back to civilization? I'm like fifty jumps away from the nearest station and I'd rather not make that whole trip back only to find out I didn't make enough money
LOOK guys , It's a learning curve. You may not grasp things at first, You may not understand something on the first pass, and times it will feel like a grind and a bit frustrating, but be patient! If you can put the time in and are willing to learn, then the game will be rewarding in return. Follow the guides as a tool for research into how things work but ultimately forge your own path across the stars. Trying to learn and accomplish everything at once or even just retain so much information will make you feel frustrated and like you're not progressing fast enough, so i advise breaking things down into segments. Pick one task, accomplish it, and then move onto the next one. Only then will you start to progress faster and faster. Sometimes, watching these tutorials myself, i need to pause or rewatch something multiple times to fully understand the mechanics, Due to the fact i've just been playing the game and have a load of other stuff on my mind i've been doing and then trying to take in more knowledge or new mechanics can be conflicting and difficult, So again take your time and split things up into singular tasks. If you feel overwhelmed at any point, then take a step back. Take a break and think about it first. Prioritise your goals and objectives 1 at a time. Patience is key. Keeping calm will help you enjoy the game more and progress faster. Don't try to take in all the information all at once 🤯😂
Im just about to get started on this guide after getting back into the game following a few years off. Given that theres new FSD’s and engineering has been changed, is there anything i should do differently from the guide? Thank you for all the help by the way!!! o7
Great guide! I do have a question about the FSD, why not SCO? It seems like its always nice to have the option and I don't see any drawbacks if you just don't use SCO if you're low on fuel.
Great video, very helpful. I do have a couple of questions though. When researching the player faction how can you tell that they are likely to have the missions for Bertrandite etc. and do they start to appear when Expansion is pending or do you have to wait until they are in Expansion?
I usually don’t make comments without finishing a video, so apologies if this was addressed later. It just really stood out to me in the first few minutes and I wasn’t seeing any addendum or correction forthcoming there. Was this filmed a month or two ago? Why are you recommending a 2A FSD instead of the 2A SCO FSD which is outright much stronger than the 2A (SCO size 2’s actually get the strongest relative boost to jump range over standard) and includes the SCO feature which makes exobiology and DSS scanning *much* more engaging (and faster)? For just about 300k total I got a new start friend into a 22-24 (can’t remember the exact number) light year per-jump sidewinder, which was enough for them to easily get the 100k-1mil exploration systems right by chandler’s rest. For some reason it seems some systems near there give exploration data on all planets simply for entering the system (which I don’t get anymore after getting some ranks, so not sure if it’s a bug or some new player help feature) which lets you get the funds for a DSS basically immediately, and an Artemis suit, from which you can DSS the several earthlike or terraformed earthlikes in nearby pilot’s federation systems for additional easy exploration data starting funds. Definitely more than enough for the hauler let alone going straight up to a DBX or Asp (though without doing some extra work wouldn’t recommend it, think you don’t have enough to fully outfit the asp, probably enough for the DBX). The Erravate system is pretty near to the horizon’s starter area and the odyssey one, sort of halfway between them, and has a 1.7m exploration payout from DSS the ELW and HMCs, and has a planet with fonticula (3.7m or something like that) and bacteria (we couldn’t easily find the bacteria though, so didnt spend time gathering it). With SCO the whole process basically just took as long as the DSS mini game takes, which is pretty quick with a tutorial going over the basics, per planet. Aside from the fonticula, which requires doing exobiology. All of this data is from helping a friend learn game mechanics over this last weekend (2024-05-31 range).
I think you're right about the SCO and the filming being done a few months ago. It says supercut, so it seems like this is more of a cut of a "Get a Fleet Carrier ASAP" challenge run - which is also cool. But it's hardly a 2024 beginners guide if it doesn't at least mention SCO. I can't see any drawbacks to it so I was hoping he would address it.
@@EnderGraff1 SCO drives have two incredibly niche drawbacks, three of you count being a little more expensive than the non-SCO class A drive (and even that gets countered by the fact a class *D* SCO drive is usually as strong as a class *A* non-SCO drive, while being significantly cheaper). 1) You can’t undersize an SCO drive, some people have use cases where they extremely want to be as light as possible for real space top speed and so will equip the smallest FSD possible for their use to cut mass as much as possible. You can’t do that with an SCO drive. 2a) The SCO drives are not better than the class 6 and 7 (if a class 7 existed) pre-engineered FSD drives in jump range, ever so slightly. In exchange having the SCO feature though. 2b) Additionally, the SCO drives in jump range are not better than a pre-engineered FSD of *any* size, except the size 2 iirc (which doesn’t have a pre-engineered anyway), for the same amount of fuel. I.e. they’re not as fuel efficient. The only reason they slightly beat out the max jump range for sizes between 3 and 5 is because of being able to use more fuel at max range. So if you really cared about economical plotting, doing a series of as short as possible hops, and had a pre-engineered drive for your ship size, you could choose to use that over the SCO drive technically. They’re all pretty niche though as you can see, and mostly only apply to the double engineered drive which only the class 5 would even be available to a new player, the others being from past CGs only.
Great content as always, I followed you regularly few years back. I stopped playing when odyssey came out because my computer was not good enough for it. I thought you had moved also away from elite. Anyway. Couple of questions. 1) why do you select player faction. 2) why select economy as agriculture when in the end you are doing missions like bertrandite that I believe are triggered by the industrial economy and not agriculture. As you can see, I'm confused
As an old player returning after years away, I'm running into the issue of hazardous HREs quite often being outside of security range, or any battles going on just aren't advantageous to dip into. Evil ships mop up belts, with nobody to put them in check and it's not feasible to sneak in for the kill and nab easy money. Just death and losing money. Like days and days of trying your approach to the beginning part, even in a souped up combat ship, probably 100+ jumps and checking HREs, and it's the same every time. Is this no longer a thing, or what am I doing wrong? I don't fire first, I don't even warrant scan until I know some wanted dude is agro'd on something else. They always turn right around and pop me.
Hey Hawkes! Another amazing guide, as always. Like others, I'm in the comments looking for a little more detail on the Expansion trade farming as I've been through several systems and am having shit luck getting the big score missions. Is it really just a crap shoot as to what contracts spawn, or are there more "golden ticket" specifics you look for in systems such as number of hubs or an economy combo to avoid? While running out to farm expo data is making me money, having to do it repeatedly between each system bust is so time consuming when all i want to do is make "real space cheddar" 😂 Keep up the great work bud!
I've heard people mention the bubble so much but I've yet to hear anyone explain it or what areas are outside of it, could you please go into more detail?
Human occupied space with stations and a population of people. Not all system in the bubble will have planets or a space station but for the most part thats the rule. It is a circle area several light years out from Sol in a bubble shape. Everything outside of that besides a few exceptions way far away do not have any stations or people.
ok so quick question. how did you not get interdicted or at least attempted to get interdicted carrying all that ripe cargo in the type 9? I am sure you must have, but did not talk about it?
this is a great guide but i wish you had more information on how to properly identify systems for the expansion trading.. i've been to 4 different player factions that all meet the criteria you gave (and also to mahlanja for posterity) and I couldnt see any of these extremely high payout missions in any station. do you need to be at least friendly to see ally missions? the biggest payout i saw was like a 6 mil expansion mission
@@ThunderD83 but why is it Hawkes is able to see the 50m boom mission, albeit grayed out, BEFORE he's allied in this video? (38:17) Also I recently allied with some player factions through normal A-B-A trading who were in expansion and never saw these missions either.
So I’ve done everything up to the step where you farm the wake emissions with the limpets in the aspe explorer right before you go to the engineer for the fsd. Due to space greed(and not paying attention) I sold all of my cartographic data so I’ll need to go out and do another big run of scans. But because I did a big run initially I have 250k so I was thinking I could buy an Anaconda since I can and it gets me the best jump range and I’ll have the upgraded fsd. And then with that I’ll grind out a road to riches trip or two in the anaconda with some exobiology. That or I could save my money do it all in the Asp explorer and have a boatload of money for later when I want to rank up in the federation for that corvette. Any ideas on what I should do?
Hey there, if i started the game with mandalay, should i just skip buying new ships and go all the way down with the prebuilt red mandalay untill i get my FC ?
Not sure if I'm playing a different game over here or missed something important but I went to the 98878 system...and there's nothing there. Just a big ass star, nothing else and a bunch of planets, no pirates so uhh..where exactly in this system are they supposed to be? A little more detail would be like really helpful for new players
New player trying to follow along with you. Went to system HIP 98878 and I can't find any pirates engaged in battle, I've been going back and forth between locations in the system for a few hours and I'm just wasting my time. Sad times
I went through the same thing when I first did this a year ago. The trick I found was to fly around at medium to high speed and keep an eye on the radar display. Eventually a few triangles would pop up (most times it's miners or a few space cops), and fly towards that vicinity. Then scan every ship nearby which would lead to either me finding a pirate, or continuing my search elsewhere and repeat. Hopefully this helps 👍
Is there an update to starting out on foot missions? Ive managed to complete two reactivation missions. But Ive died several times, and also been transported to prison ship, when trying to land or enter the settlement. Getting lots of shooters, dont know if theyre guards or scavengers. Doesnt help the sites are in the dark so gotta use torch to see.

@@HawkesGamingso approximately 12 days solo????
@@Kallivak The majority of those 6 days was spent farming engineering materials. We did expansion trading for 2-1/2 days total.
You really are talented at serving up the sweet sweet space cheddar. Please, keep up the amazing work!
This one was a lot of work!
Used this guide to finally engineer my fsd and get guardian fsd. Huge help!
Mom get in here! I'm officially a Commander! Thanks for getting me this far Hawkes. God speed!
They are new players not idiots, Less weight = better is something we know since birth
best guide on youtube 10/10 would recommend
It's really cool of you to not put in galvanising alloys so we get to make the same mistake as you, thanks!!!
Just in time for a couple of personal friends interested in playing. I showed them some of your recent stuff too! And some older stuff that helped me explain some of the hidden fun behind the top layer of Elite. Always excited to see an upload brother!!!!
Thank you I hope you all have fun together!
What are the chances you can do a more in depth video of expansion farming for the boom trading very interested in this. However have not been able to replicate this.
😢
Total bump to this!
I spent the weekend farming lifeforms, not being sure of how much i needed to earn 250M, and i ended up close to 1 billion credits... XD
Returned to this game after two years, and fell in love all over again....
7 years for me. I managed to recover my old save, so I'm starting out in an Asp and enjoying getting back into the game.
guys disable drive assist on srv. it'll feel much better to drive. man i started loving srv after disabling that shit. and rebind the forward and backwards to w and s just like any other normal vehicles
This is a godly tip. Thank you
this game looks fun. i want to enjoy it. so far i've yet to complete a mission. no guidance on what to do. gonna try to follow this guide, but it's honestly all just too much for me.
Love traveling 1000+ years at the speed of light just to scan some grass
Hawkes how many planets did you go to to scan life forms ? Plz also ❤ ur content keep it up
By faaaaar THE best ED tutorials.
I've been playing for 2 weeks, and while I got pretty good at dogfights and planet encouters, your ways made me more money in 4 hours than I did in my 80 previous hours.
Hats off to you, sir!
Watching the part about limpets, flying into Levi-Montalcini... Billboard says "Don't forget your limpets!" Nice.
Best Guide on RUclips! 👍
picked up my fleet carrier today.... long ass time coming..... now im broke again LOL o7 dude your vids are great
Why wouldn't you give us amounts to buy at the material trader at 19:14? This guide is very helpful but as a new player you are glaring over some very needed explanations.
At the turn in you can pause the video.
would you be able to do a more in depth dive on the mining/trade missions? i followed the instructions on this video but i was only ever able to find one using your instructions (argro station with expanding faction). i was able to get a few more on various different stations but there is never more than one or two missions.
Hhhhhhh if only they didn't stop support for the consoles. Miss this game.
So buy a mid tier pc....
@Kallivakgames working on it lol. I save money only for something to come up....... adulting sucks lol.
@@theodore7313 your not wrong. You will get there. If I could give a piece of advice. Don't chase high specs, a mid tier pc with say an i7 10700k and a 3060 or the amd equivalent will be very solid for the average gamer
@@Kallivak thats not mid tier, thats still a high tier pc
@@theodore7313 good luck bro. This game is amazing.
Really liked the video, straight to the point.
Can u do a extensive video on what u need for engineering
Been watching your vids since 2015, great to see you again commander. I hope you and your family are doing well. o7
Returning after 5 years away this is the real info i need. o7
This is alot of info, thanks. I got the game after watching this video. great job.
Really appreciate this and your Elite Dangerous videos. Definitely subbing
Also You can use fss for finding high extraction site
Thanks as always Hawkes! Hang in there, we love you ❤
Should probably add that the Extraction Zones are in Space Rings... and that you need to look at the system map and explore the locations near ring planet for the POI.
When you scan a ship, it will show [Wanted] in red text under their name if they are an NPC pirate.
Oops! 😆
I recommend starting the game for the first time in Horizons, you get a ship and start in the start zone, then restart in Odyssey.
Good tip.
I am kinda stuck at the start where i go and have to "wait" before i kill those pirates for bounty... the problem is that they aren't fighting... or if they are... there are 3-4-5 pirates vs. 1 ship....
Honestly, you could do what I did to get started. Just run a bunch of courier delivery missions instead.
LOL I know right? It's like when you first see her you think youre meeting her grandmother instead of her! Kind of scary! haha
I can't seem to find the right faction. I've tried several times, but each faction only has a few missions for 40-50kk, and once I finish them, they don't appear anymore. How to find the right faction, can you please help me? I'm stuck there.
U are god tier elite tutor
32:28 Blind people are gonna love this one
Thanks for the guide, Commander. Also FYI, had a big brain moment and also forgot the Galvanized Alloys - but, there was a station 1 jump away that solved all my problems. o7
Best guide yet. Thanks!
All of this is completely alien to me, though.
hey Hawkes
just a quick question: is there a build for ground on foot? or is it just upgrading armor and weapon and pew pew?
A rehash of an already great tutorial, great work man. I used your other guides when i first started. Thanks for the info even I didnt know. keep it up :)
Hey man thanks for the guide, it's been very helpful so far. Except the part where you have to select a player faction to ally with. Can you elaborate on how to choose them, I tried inara search with the same params, but when I arrive at the station they don't have those fat 50mil missions like you showed. 15 million is the max that I saw.
You said "Do the research to make it worth while", how do I do that?
Did you ever find a solution to this? Been trying to find one for a while now
Nope, tried several more factions that entered the expansion
Just started playing ED for the first time and have no idea how I slept on this game! Playing with a dual joystick setup is so awesome. I imagine playing in VR would be next level.
Is Odyssey the same as the version on ps4? After beating the pilot licence tutorial that the game immediately dropped me in I realised this seems like a super hardcore space exploration sim so I came to yt for tips 👉👈
*Me watching this from the inside of the roomy Corvette*: "Hmm, yes. I'm sure I could learn from this."
Use ed discovery it will give you a decent idea
Hi hawkes thanks for all your videos peace man cheers
Im just about to get started on this guide after getting back into the game following a few years off. Given that theres new FSD’s and engineering has been changed, is there anything i should do differently from the guide? Thank you for all the help by the way!!! o7
How do you get the 3rd person camera?
Strg + Alt + Space
Or: Ctrl + Alt + Space
🙂
Great guide! I do have a question about the FSD, why not SCO? It seems like its always nice to have the option and I don't see any drawbacks if you just don't use SCO if you're low on fuel.
Great video, very helpful. I do have a couple of questions though. When researching the player faction how can you tell that they are likely to have the missions for Bertrandite etc. and do they start to appear when Expansion is pending or do you have to wait until they are in Expansion?
The KRAIT only for the turrets, I really like the ASP 25:52
Why no Fuel Scoop on the Type 9 Heavy? Also did you engineer another 6A FSD for it? Cause the one you made for the Phantom is only 5A? I'm a noob.
While running out to farm expo data is making me money, having to do it repeatedly between each system bust is so time consuming when all i want to do is make "real space cheddar" 😂
Keep up the great work bud!
What happened to the latest video?
Great video, thank you!
this is a great guide but i wish you had more information on how to properly identify systems for the expansion trading.. i've been to 4 different player factions that all meet the criteria you gave (and also to mahlanja for posterity) and I couldnt see any of these extremely high payout missions in any station. do you need to be at least friendly to see ally missions? the biggest payout i saw was like a 6 mil expansion mission
You have to ally with them
@@ThunderD83 but why is it Hawkes is able to see the 50m boom mission, albeit grayed out, BEFORE he's allied in this video? (38:17)
Also I recently allied with some player factions through normal A-B-A trading who were in expansion and never saw these missions either.
@@DevelopedGames they are not a garenteed mission and only in starports with a agriculture economy
1st step is to go 1000 ly away? wont that take hours with the starter ship you set up in the video?
nope
Haha, I remember learning this game years ago and i like the way you put it. I would often forget things and be very "space butthurt" 😅
Hey there, if i started the game with mandalay, should i just skip buying new ships and go all the way down with the prebuilt red mandalay untill i get my FC ?
great video thanks just what I needed to decide on buying the game
Youre most welcome! I hope you enjoy yourself!
Want to be friends? I like helping new players.
@hawkes - at 46 minutes you're with Farseer and have all the materials needed for engineering. I have none, where did you get all of that?
Not sure if I'm playing a different game over here or missed something important but I went to the 98878 system...and there's nothing there. Just a big ass star, nothing else and a bunch of planets, no pirates so uhh..where exactly in this system are they supposed to be? A little more detail would be like really helpful for new players
Is there a reason to take the hauler over the adder?
Does the expansion trading actually still work? Can't find any of those 50 mil missions. Seems like it was nerfed
yes but how do you lock the camera in third person?
This must be for all the new players who have been playing for awhile.
