That's why I don't fuck with trials riders, with their handlebars all the way forward.. like bullhorns. Those dudes are loco! I once saw Danny MacAskil gap to front somebody's face just for looking at his reflection in a nearby window.
Thank you so much for this video it helped allot. I'm trying to figure out handle bar position for comfortable Manuel attempts. Now I know its all about getting the sweet spot balance other then bars
Pulled slightly back or inline with the forks always helped me get a higher hop... 4 piece just seemed stiffer and dont shock your arms as much, but, my opinion, are god awful to look at.. I always dig Phus insight
These videos are the best Alfredo. Thank you and Fhu this. Wish there was a place like EPIC BMX I could call home. There is NOTHING where I am from (Thailand). Just a very small handful of arrogant dealers just looking for the buck and bye bye.
i actually JUST moved my bars a little more forward like max has his from my normal "in line with the forks" and i prefer it the way max has his, i noticed higher bunny hops, more control with my 180's, good video
11:30 If you see anyone with their bars like that they might just be into trials. Trials riders run their bars like that for similar reasons to the ones already mentioned, to give more space when you're hopping on the back wheel and to make it easier to get your weight over the front wheel when doing up-to-front hops.
On the trails it's even weirder with how you change your position. I was a little surprised you said trails run them a little back but I guess I can understand that as the norm. I'm more Max Vu Tang when it comes to trails. But top tube plays a bigger role for bar position for me.
I wonder whats smaller, those fly bikes bars or the even older haro slim bars. I rocked the haro slim bars on my schwinn automatic w a gyro, barspins for daysss
I remember back 10 years ago in 2012, I was 15 Years old and I was already 6' tall. I remember my bar was so low I wasn't able to pop properly because standard bars were around 6.5/7" tall and I was destroying my back bones. Now the standard is 9" but back in 2012 only a few compagnies were providing such size.
“Why do you make me do $h!t like this had me ☠️☠️ always giving him a hard time! Been binge watching your content love all you guys! One day I’ll slide down to so cal and meet my epic bmx legends! Cheers!
I have a question are there any BMX bikes made in the USA anymore.? I notice most riders are using old vintage redlines CWs GTs haros? Thinking about making a full us made 4130 4140 chrome frames. The junk made today doesn’t compare even material wise. I highly doubt any of its actually 4130 moly
As far as I know, there is no completely made american made bike. There are frame, forks, bars, cranks, stems, sprockets and pegs made in the US and then the rest is 90% Taiwan
How high should ur bars reach while u stand on the ground d next to your bike? Mine reaches a little past my belly button and I have bars with a 9inch rise and a gyro but im also 5’4💀
Man That Sucks About The Footage. I Hope All Has Been Well My Friend. I Never Understood Riding Chicago Bars Myself. The Cholo Bars Explanation Had Me Rolling😂 Great Video And As Always Keep Shredding Bro 😎
I will say 4pc does ride different then 2pc. It feels a lot stiffer and more rigid. Like your energy transfer when say just doing a HOO is more instant. It could be placebo totally but I think it’s Fr and has to do with their being more welds and shit
I feel like my 2p on my Sunday are like weaker and easier to turn more agile, and my 4p s&m on my older redline seems like there stiffer and a little harder to turn. Also could be my placement I like max placement but my redline is a little toward crazy guy according to phu and I def need to bring my redline back a touch
The cholo angle got me...hahaha, i can relate....dudes with the handle bar in the cholo angle....approaching you? yes, hes going to ask for a cigarette, or money, or try to sell you something he has in his backpack. hahaha, so crazy man, if its 2 of them ? they definitely after your bike...or your takkies....LOL
The only difference between 4 and 2 piece bars is, 4 piece are more susceptible to breaking cause theirs more welds, causing more spots for a possible failure
There is a argument to be made that a 4pc bar does ride a bit different due to the tubes getting hotter when welded (due to more welding). So the tubes could have slightly less flex. So yes, it is possible that a 2pc and 4pc bars could feel different. Just depend on the rider, how sensitive their hands are.
Phu: what are you gonna do with triple D's?

Phu's theory on the crazy guy with the forward bars is so fucking true , so many guys from my hometown rode exactly like that 11:47

Very Useful video, I actually had a few questions but this answered them :) keep up the good work 👊🤟

i agree about the 4 piece, less vibration
But heavier
still in school and a sig product. Alf your son doing good.
Perfect timing, this reminds me that I want new bars.

Best 4pc ever were the Hoffman Chocolate bars. Still a good rise with an insanely small cage.
those are technically a 6 piece bar

Yeah same I use 12 step bars now. I didn't like them at first until I started to bunny hop. 12 step bars are awesome. I had 11 inch rise before.

6:29 Back when i raced i did run my bars level with my forks now i run them a touch forward like Max now with a 53mm reach Cult Redemption stem 🔥👍🚲💨
Back in the 80s the handlebar ergonomics were insane. 2 and 4 piece bars, fish bone bars, ladder bars, v bars etc

I know what he’s talking about with the far forward bars.
the trial bmx riders used to drive their handlebars way forward when there were no bmx specially developed for trials, but that was a long time ago
Can you tell me who he’s channeling at the start? He’s a master coming through I can see that
I rock my bars slightly forward, basically vertical. I’m 6foot and ride 20.5 so there’s clearance reason too
