    im pretty happy with the extreme cards. Was the cheapest and in regards to speed they are very close. I don't think I would buy the plus or faster unless the price was comparable. Thoughts

    Hi, I think your speed limit is due to the card reader or the card reader interface. SanDisk has a USB 3.0 card reader which can achieve speeds of up to 170MB/s (read).

    Thanks for the informative video! I am relatively new to this stuff, and I have a question. I'll soon be leaving on a year long travel, and plan to buy the DJI Osmo Action 3 camera. After watching your video I think I will go for the extreme version of this micro sd card, but what I'm wondering is: how many micro sd cards should I buy for one year, and which size? Multiple smaller ones? One or two big ones? Thanks in advance for the advice.

      the takeaway should be that there isnt that much of a speed difference. If you have the money then get the 'fastest' card available. But for my needs im pretty happy with the normal mid level cards as there wasnt enough of a difference to warrant me spending more. Plus the speed is fast enough for all my cameras.

    There is a disclaimer, that larger sized sandisk cards are perform at the advertised speed. Those are usually the 256gb - 1tb cards.

  • @justanotherviewer52

    It really makes a lot of difference depending on what you need to do with them. In my case storage is the big factor.

    • @gregtoope
      @gregtoope  Год назад +3

      for sure. but if the price was close, buy the faster cards. If the price difference is fairly big, then i wouldnt bother. The speed on them is really close. And definitely no where near advertised.

    For a guy who claims to use camera's, I'm really surprised you don't know that you are overexposing the camera sensor, from having all that light blasting at it from the window. Either (1) pull your blinds down over the window and raise the ISO on the camera up by +1.0x, or do the PRO thing, and make sure to have the light coming in from behind the camera, insuring that the camera lens is facing away from the window, not towards it. Just photo 101 buddy. But I appreciate you taking the time to show the real world tests of these SD cards, thank you.

    • @gregtoope

    The card reader needs to read high speed - if the card reader can't read the card with high speed - you do not get the high speed also Sandisk described

    • @TheAhanin
      @TheAhanin Год назад +1

      3.0 card readers can give you 1/4 of the speed for these SD cards, however the technology inside them is different.

      @gogoasa333 Год назад

      @@TheAhanin so your point is a 3.0 card reader will only give you 1/4 of the sd card speed. Ok 😂

    • @TheAhanin
      @TheAhanin Год назад +2

      @@gogoasa333 No! You have to understand how this technology works. There is nothing called standard speed for 3.0 memory readers. Its a family of different technologies, all of them use USB 3.0 as a connection. But that doesn't mean all of are the same speed!
      there are 3.0 readers that are even slower than what you see in the video. and there are 3.0 card readers that are UHS ll with 300MB/s speed.
      What you are saying is like: get a car with 4 wheels, they go faster than police cars lol

    • @gogoasa333
      @gogoasa333 Год назад

      @@TheAhanin no, what I said is usb 3.0 is faster than 2.0 what he is using. If that's what you understand to make that comparison, well that's your problem. I haven't found any USB 2.0 card reader to be faster than a 3.0, but you seem to know better. Take care 😉

    your screen is dark because the center of the camera lens is getting the exposure from the bright window. it is compensating. it thinks it is bright enough. (backlighting, basically when they say don't shoot against the light).

      I just told him this as well, now with both of us telling him, hopefully he's learned something. I find many RUclipsr's really need to take a course on camera's 101. Its fairly basic stuff really, but when people are exposed to cell phone camera's all the time, they don't really learn anything. I've owned a dedicated Canon camera for years, its amazing what you can do with them, when you run them in PROGRAM mode, and manually set the settings. Of course, proper camera etiquette is also important, no matter what camera you use at the end of the day.

    Your card reader is outdated. I get much more speed from them then yours. You need a modern card reader.

    Found this Video After i purchased a Fake Sandisk Ultra 128G SD Card from a Large well known Established Computer Store so it's not only online but in actual stores you may trust. Plus the reviews of Real Sandisk SD cards are not good because they are now using a cheaper micro controller inside the SD card which causes compatibility problems as well as the SD card does not last more than a few days to a Month with Video recordings even though the cards are advertised for HD Video and Speeds up to 100 or 120Mbps. It is a Joke, Actual Sandisk SD card Speeds are 14-20Mbs at the Max. Best to AVOID Sandisk as a Brand Altogether.

    • @gregtoope
      @gregtoope  Год назад +2

      so ill totally disagree with you there. I use only sandisk cards with my cameras and have never had an issue in regards to cards getting slower of any compatibility issues. Plus I shoot hours worth of footage everyday on multiple cameras. Again with no issues. Are they getting the true maximum speed? No. Do they fail, sure its possible, but I've never had one go bad. And speeds have never changed from the day I first bought them until now. I will always buy Sandisk as they have been the most dependable cards I have ever used.
