  • Fujifilm's X-T5 [ vturl.de/a/1zj ]* is a beast, combining an ultra high-res 40 megapixel sensor with amazing performance, both image noise and speed. The Downside: The memory card controller has to deal with too much data, therefore a fast SD card is almost mandatory.

    Hey Fuji XT5 users. I have a question. Ipicked mine up yesterday and I figured out that the SD Card door is a bit loose. I can pump it in a bit. Is that normal?

    Thanks for putting up a good informational video and attached guide for this. I currently have an X-T5 on preorder.
    I am basically only a stills shooter and not that interested in video. Would you say that the top cards (1, 2 & 3) are still my best option?

    just one question please, is it ok to use Lexar Professional 1800x which is marked as 4K+ to record 8K externally?

    • @memory-card
      @memory-card  Год назад

      The X-T5 can't take videos in 8K resolution, 6.2K with a slight crop only. 6.2K can be both recorded internally on the Lexar 1800x you mentioned above or via HDMI on compatible recorders.

      @@memory-card oh I see so if I use an external recorder I don't need an SD card? I'm sorry I don't have any experience with external recording so I thought if I recorder ProRes or 8K externally the Lexar 1800 won't be sufficient for me

    Great video very imformative, i got the Lexar 1677x v60 and wondered why it performed so badly. i noticed the Sabrent Rocket v60 wasnt in the results list (90 was) , which would you pick between Lexar 1800x and sabrent rocket v60? both around similar prices.
    Another question, does the performance of the second SD card in backup mode bottleneck the card in slot 1? could you have one expensive card in slot 1 and a cheap card in slot 2?
    Im a wedding photographer so need to do some burst shots, and always have a second SD card for backing up

    • @memory-card
      @memory-card  Год назад +2

      Rocket V60 and an IRDM card will be added soon. The card reader measurements (read speed) are missing in the dataset.
      Coming back to your question: Lexar 1800x and Sabrent Rocket V60 are pretty much identical in performance, more than twice as fast as your 1677x. So... If you find a good offer for one of those, go for it.
      Back-up mode itself doesn't really hurt performance, as long as they are two identical cards installed. Otherwise the slower one will limit the write speed, as the buffer obviously won't clear as long as the image hasn't been written on both cards. If you really wanna use fast + slow, only for RAW on the faster and JPEG on the slower card.

      @@memory-card thank you! I saw the Delkin much lower on the list than I had expected from my experience with their CFexpress and MicroSDXC cards. I'm about to try out a Sabrent v90 in 256GB, I've happily used their other products just not SD cards so far. Would you expect their v90 256GB to match the 512GB v90? I sometimes find larger cards perform better. I hope that isn't the case here.

    • @memory-card
      @memory-card  9 месяцев назад +1

      We have both here, 256 and 512 GB. In this case, performance is nearly identical (±1 %). And as for the general statement: Yes and no. Usually the smallest variants are slower (less channels occupied on the controller level). But it sometime also happen that the highest capacity is effected, because a manufacturer need to use different NAND-Flash to achieve the high capacity.

    Hi
    Thanks For the great video
    For my XT5
    I got this - will this be ok to use for everything including burst shots and videos?
    SanDisk 256GB Extreme PRO SDXC UHS-I Memory Card - C10, U3, V30, 4K UHD, SD Card - SDSDXXD-256G-GN4IN

    • @memory-card
      @memory-card  Год назад

      Well... You can take the SanDisk Extreme Pro 170 MB/s as a reference, #31/41 in our ranking: vturl.de/g/1zh
      So yes and no. The card is "OK", but offers 1/3 of the possible performance for bursts, meanwhile everyday video usage is fine (like normal 4K video).

      @@memory-card thank you. Since I already purchased it.
      If for the SECOND memory card I get the ones you recommend and when it comes to burst mode OR 6K VIDEO will the camera AUTOMATICALLY move to the SECODN memory card slot? If so then I’ll invest it i this and let the camera choose when the then comes such as when I do burst pictures OR videos in 6K?
      Is this right?
      Thank you again 🙏

    • @memory-card
      @memory-card  Год назад +1

      No, not automatically. You can check page 40 of the X-T5 manual for the 3 different modes (Sequential, Backup, Separate). If you are shooting RAW+JPEG, you could use _Separate_ to store the larger RAW on the faster card and the smaller JPEG on the slower one. That's it.
      Fuji further explicitly states that "UHS-II cards are recommended for high-speed burst photography" and you bought UHS-I. So either _bite the bullet_ and just buy new cards or for the next time: Check out our website in advance :)

  • @frankmenkel8329
    @frankmenkel8329 Год назад

    I only use the camera for stills (no video), and only for single shots, so speed is not a requirement. Do I need a super fast card? I have the SanDisk Extreme Pro 128 GB - 200 MB/s. What do you think?

    • @memory-card
      @memory-card  Год назад

      In that case speed isn't really a factor to consider. The only reason might be to copy alle the images faster from the SD card to your PC or Mac. If you already have a card reader supporting SanDisk's proprietary protocol for 200 MB/s that's fine as well (otherwise the card will work in the classic 104 MB/s mode).
      Otherwise you may wanna switch to an entry-level UHS-II SD card, combining fast read-out speed with an midrange write speed. E.g. Sony E Series.
