I love the remixes, there are some really stellar ones in there (FF3’s Altar Cave comes to mind). For me FF6’s music is an integral part of the game for me and the PR tracks do not disappoint. Awakening in particular is masterful! Also the PR soundtrack has made tolerable some of the songs I like but grew fatigued of hearing over and over, such as Cid’s theme from FF4.

Yes these are absolutely worth buying! I am new(ish) to the Final Fantasy franchise (despite playing video games for the past 35 years) and these are probably my favorite way to experience the games. I do like PSP FFIV the best, but they made such good quality of life improvements that I would have a hard time going back to their original forms (like a mini-map, being able to dash, and auto-battle, for example). I have played and completed pretty much every version of the first 6 games and I think these are the best way to experience them- I didn't care for the "bonus content" that the handhelds brought (just grindy and hard, NOT fun). Although music is subjective, I love what they did in these remasters. A QUICK patch to change the font (seriously, it takes like 30 seconds if it bothers you THAT much). I have earned the Master of 1, 4, and 5 achievements so far, and a quick replay to pick up some hidden items I missed will get 2, 3, and 6- I don't even care about achievements in games whatsoever but I liked these games that much! My only complaint- the games seem to blow by SO fast- I finished 1 in under 9 hours my first playthrough, and 2 and 3 were under 12 hours- I am no speedrunner and yes, I used a guide, but I guess the quality of life improvements I just praised made this possible. Excellent video and definitely subscribed- this channel is great!

My time with FF2 PR led me to negate the HP boost - in my experience, only increasing HP via Stamina boosts created sturdier characters at a lower HP. The inflation of HP makes you think you can tank hits, but it just ends up hitting harder than you’d expect for your perceived level of health.

Just ordered a copy from Playasia for my switch. I LOVE these games and pretty much own every version. I'm the odd man out in that i hate action rpg and pine for the days of turn based.
I play the pixel remasters on phone. It is a little awkward but it is also convenient to jump in and play a little while if I’m stuck waiting somewhere.
I'm with the OG releases and always will, no matter what quality of life improvements. However I usually at least patch the SNES rom so evade actually works, I don't always because it makes the first half of the game more difficult. For some reason, evade seems to work for Shadow though, but only the first scenario you can use him. He dodges with his shield as much as GBA
Font is *very* *important* to me, as certain styles/sizes can give me serious migraines after only 15+ minutes of exposure. I couldn't even play Kingdom Hearts 3 because of the font size they chose for everything BUT the subtitles. XD Literally had to lay down in the dark for a good two hours after only playing barely a half hour... At least there is a bundle in Japan on Switch, which will offer the English versions.
I was on the lucky side of the planet when Square Enix store made available the physical release for sale . Turn based RPG is my thing... but honestly i think these games are more of a novelty thing
Also, I'm not sure the music comparison works, because video games are a medium of interactivity. Sure, you can dance, but video games are *about* their interactive experience. Music gets away with a passive response. Video games have to be multimedia experiences (I mean, I *think* they have to be). I feel like it does make some sense to fault something on being a "cash grab" if the company just wants to release something while paring back on what's on offer. It's a corner that's cut in contrast with what's been achieved. But hey, maybe when the magnetic poles of the Earth flip and we can somehow no longer use electronic devices (this is a tongue-in-cheek exaggeration), we'll be perfectly fine working our way back out through the dark ages again.
I bought the Steam bundle a few days ago. Played FFVI for a few hours and currently in Jidoor. I switched to FFI yesterday and just got the airship and my class change. What I really like is the Boost feature. I haven't tried it for VI yet but probably will boost the AP. I've maxed out the boosts from the beginning of FFI, though. I've also been toggling the encounters. This lets new players experience the story better without the constant battles or need for grinding. Someone like me, who played the original over 30 years ago and has since played various incarnations of FFI through VI, can also appreciate the option to level up quickly, amass a stockpile of gil, and then just walk through a dungeon to face its boss.
Thanks for your comment! I love the Boost functions also - but I think my favorite feature is the music toggling between the original soundtrack and the new arranged. Do you like the new soundtracks at all?
@@TheReturnersHideout I haven't switched away from them, so I think that's a yes. The originals are beaten into my head so much that I don't know if I'd be able to comprehend the revamped graphics and playstyles if I switched. 😀
@anonymousm9113 I was definitely in that same boat at first but some of the arrangements are absolutely dumbfoundingly emotional. Searching for Friends from FF6 got me all in my feels!
If you want/like a more lighthearted story (for an apocalypse of course) for a first entry, or are curious about the jobs/job system play ff5… hot take I guess but maybe my favorite classic ff (and the games are “before my time” so nostalgia shouldn’t be a factor?..).
I'm still on the fence about buying the pixel remasters at the moment, mostly because I'm waiting for them to come out on consoles. I would love to see a remake of ff6, in 3d like ff3, or even better like ff7 remake.
I’ve got a video coming out in a few weeks about the console releases actually! But I’m not sure if I like the idea of 6 being completely remade in 3D - I think it would be neat but I know I’d keep going back to either the original or the pixel remaster! Thank you commenting!
@@TheReturnersHideout your welcome, I can't wait to see that video. Oh I definitely will always keep going back to original ff6, I just think it'd be awesome to see the world from a third person view.
Awesome is to cancel battle if you have grind enough. The peice could be lower but for that amount of time i have already play finish 1 in under 20, 2 is close for ending in 20 hrs and im sure the other 4 will take minimum the same amount of time and for that the price is fair but yes cheaper is always better.
@@TheReturnersHideout Thank you. The way Final Fantasy (as well as Zelda)fans constantly flip flop on everything I think if the developers were western they would have flipped out on us a decade ago lmao.
If i honest nothings really bothered me with these editions, the only gripe is personally the FF1,2 and 4 on the PSP in my opinion looked a million times better. Please google to see the differences and people will know what i mean. Id also argue some people may like the pixel art on the mobile versions more unless you are a pure-ist.
I’ve got 1,2 and 4 on PSP and me personally, I’ve always preferred the pixels. Don’t get me wrong it’s all beautiful - some of the enemies are just amazing! But I think I’ll always prefer the originals! Thank you so much for commenting!
@@TheReturnersHideout no worries keep on the content 👌 The new re-arranged OST are absolutely bang on the money. I'd be supirsed to find anyone who didn't live final fantasy music.
I’ve been playing through the previous iOS versions of these games and I’m enjoying those. I wish they hadn’t been delisted. Also, was the dates of the wrong at the beginning of the video?
@@TheReturnersHideout happens to the best of us. Cool video dude, I’m currently working my way through all the Pixel Remasters and this video was a fun watch.
I think my favorite version of FF2 is the pixel remaster for sure, and I love the 2D version of FF3 that they presented also, but as far as FF4.. I really love the PSP version and the SNES version, the 3D versions feel almost like a bit of a chore to play sometimes. Maybe I’m in the minority with that opinion, but I’ve never enjoyed any of the 3D remakes! What’s yours??
The only one I'd "cautiously" recommend is FFIV, specifically if you've played FFIV before. I know the games were rebalanced, but FFIV was made embarrassingly easy, especially if you fight every battle along the way. The earlier games benefit from the rebalancing (especially FFII), and FFIII and FFV seem to encourage experimenting with the Job System more by making the menus a bit more friendly and easier to switch Jobs. They all look and sound great though.
All the pixel remasters are a comparative and arguable cakewalk. They’re intended to essentially breeze through in my opinion; just a little something to give fans the experience of the older games without hunting old hardware down!
How dare you... Fonts and Typography are extremely important, it's part of the visual language any medium has to communicate a style, feeling, mood, etc. I think it was a legitimate critique (and the font they used WAS horrible)... but anyway, sorry... I get fired up by this things haha 😅
" A cash grab"??? Of course it's a cash grab. ( Companies need money) But at least SE has made these more available. (2-D III to be frank) I'll take this kind of cash grab. I just wish SE would do more with older titles. Like more original Nintendo and SNES games. If SE would just get off of their butts and start translating all the games that people are trying to get from bootlegs sites(original games not mods) for Nintendo & super Nintendo. And put them in the pixel remaster situation for $15 to $20 they could be great again.(forgive the pun) I mean SE the company. I would be very happy if Nintendo the company just got all the old IPs from original and SNES, made them function correctly and put them on the switch subscription pass.
I’m insanely happy with the 2D version of FF3! I’ve been wanting to play it forever, and I can remember being very excited when they announced the pixel remasters - it’s actually those remasters that made me want to put this channel together in the first place! Which old IPs would you love to see put into a pixel remaster situation?
@@TheReturnersHideout so many. NES, Ultima. SNES, Treasures of the rudras, dual orbs, paladins quest, Star trek TNG, just so many of the ones they never released. Now that they don't need to physically release anything just translate how they want.
They are quite the conundrum for me. I think the SNES version of VI looks way better, but the quality of life features of the Pixel Remasters have made it so I don't want to play that version. Now either way I feel like I'm missing out!
The price tags are why I haven't picked these up. None of them should be more than 10 bucks, yet they all are. Someday they will either drop the price or do a good sale and I'll start buying them up. In my case, I have all of them across multiple consoles I own. This video is just unconvincing, just a hip shot with no analysis video. Giving people legitimate reasons is the only grounds for even making this video. Yet the only convincing reason is the FFIII comment or retro gaming is pricey yo. Do better. The youtube algorithm favors 10 min or longer videos, put in some effort. Lay out the differences, do some comparisons. I'm sure you could easily spend more than 5 minutes on that and I wouldn't have had to make this overly critical comment.
I love the critical points made by comments like this and I DO plan increasing the overall length of my videos over time (I'm only 7 months into this whole thing after all) - however; RUclips doesn't just automatically favor 10 minute videos, it favors 10 minute videos with high watch sessions, and my average watch time is just over 4 minutes - even this one. So until I get better at captivating an audience with 5 minute videos, I won't do any more 10 minute ones.
Lol it’s a waste of your time and mine to say things like “YOU GET BETTER. I PUT MY LIFE INTO” whatever. I know I need to get better, if I want to take this channel to places I’ve ever only dreamed of - the little community I have here is solid so far, and it’s only going to get better! Thanks so much!
Yeah I find it shady charging money for a game to people that own it already. It should be a free upgrade. That is one reason I would never buy any greedy square enix game again.
Thank you Square for finally fixing the fonts!! Can you imagine the fat pc nerd who would play a pixel game with those fonts? Cause I can't. Anyway I'll be buying them today now that those jarring fonts can finally be turned off!
I’m actually not sure, that was something I found while googling ‘turn based RPG’. I’ll look around and when I find something I’ll let you know! Thank you for commenting!
No need here, I already bought the cartridges on nes and snes, and already owned ff games on steam. I would check it out if it was provided to owners of previous versions, but I wouldn't waste money on that again as I own them.
Do not feel guilty for playing any ROM especially ROMs for games that are like 30 years old and impossible to get anywhere else. There is nothing wrong with playing ROMs and only consumer based brainwashing has made gamers feel guilty about it. It is nice to buy an official legit release when it is a good value and you can afford it but money should not be a barrier for people who want to play games, especially the classics.
I really only feel alright about ROMs if I already have the game in question - I'll use the ROM as a sort of backup so I don't have to put the hardware through use anymore... UNLESS I just feel super nostalgic, then it's whatever lol. Thanks for commenting!
I don't agree that "poor quality" makes sense as a definition for "cash grab". If it was poor quality, it wouldn't sell much. What makes something a "cash grab" feels, to me at least, so this doesn't matter one whit, is if it's "low effort", which, again, just to me, sounds different from "poor quality".
Hey thank you for commenting! The term “poor quality” I was using in this particular sense was what I was seeing in forums at the time. They were interchangeable, and that’s specifically what I was referring to; those ideas of cash grabs and poor quality!
FF PR has no bonus dungeons , so i sticking to the GBA Versions. But if I could I atleast buy FF3 and FF5 , I a FF 5 fanatic and FF 3 due to close to original .
Thank you for commenting! I suppose I'm one of the few that didn't enjoy the bonus dungeons and I just saw them as extra stuff to make the games more of a cash grab lol - I do own them all and would love to go through them again!
There is no way I can have this in my collection I know everyone loves ff4 and 6. And I get that I'm strange but I love grinding. FFv and the job systems to mix and match. Worth the grind. Hope ps store gets its stuff together 9 more days. Where is it on the ps store

@@TheReturnersHideout the only problem I have is the lack of controller support. That a big problem. As it stands, we still cannot preorder the digital versions.
Digital games should be cheaper they hold no real value other than data 🤷♂️ you don’t own the game just buy a licence . The people most likely to buy the games, are fans who have played these games , yes there will be some who haven’t played any of these games but at most this should have been £40 . £60/70 games are triple A titles with top of the line graphics & gameplay .

I only played FFIV when it came out on the DS and loved it! Really would like to play the rest of them in their original state, but I don’t know if I should get them for the Steam Deck or Switch.
So in baseball, once 3 strikes have been reached they switch turns batting. In football, once a goal is scored (or a team gets beyond 4th down), the other team now has a chance to get some points too! Sports are all about turns, it’s what makes them fair. Just wanted to point that out. Have a wonderful day
I do think the remaster is a bit lazy for the price. They should have offered multiple sprites, for example. One that looks like the original sprites, one that looks like the only ones in this remaster, and then maybe one where they are 32-bit style larger sprites. I kinda feel like they did the bare minimum in many areas. I asked my girlfriend which of the final fantasy vi character sprites were the remastered ones, and she guessed the original snes ones.
FF2 has been improved a bunch, but the fundamentals are still there - just a little easier and better crafted - I have a video coming out soon about the console ports!

@@TheReturnersHideout you're welcome. Even the 20% long Humble&Bundle membership can't bring oneself to that pricepoint. :)
I had FF1 on the Wii Virtual Console and never finished it, so I'm glad I can try again on Switch. I'm determined to actually beat an RPG for once!
Thank you again for a well thought out response!
Searching for Friends from FF6 got me all in my feels!
when the moment I knew there is a bundle of this FF coming out, I order it without hesitate.
I love turn based RPGs and I can't wait to pick up a copy
Gotta admit ff6 and 4 were pretty freaking fun on my phone lol
It's absolutely hilarious how all the extra content was a trashed Non-Stop but now everybody wants it back.
I had the same thought! Also, love the name!
@@TheReturnersHideout no worries keep on the content 👌
The new re-arranged OST are absolutely bang on the money. I'd be supirsed to find anyone who didn't live final fantasy music.
A HUGE YES!!!
I would say they are worth it. The upgrades in graphics and music were noticeable yet stayed true to the originals.
No no...thank you. Got yourself another subscriber you did
Awwww thank you so much! Welcome aboard!
I’ve been playing through the previous iOS versions of these games and I’m enjoying those. I wish they hadn’t been delisted. Also, was the dates of the wrong at the beginning of the video?
Lol yes they were. I got a little too excited during editing! That’s what I get for rushing this video out!
The release dates graphic is wrong. I'm assuming FFV should have said 2022*, and FFVI should have said 2023*
Yes I made a big old mistake during that! Thank you for pointing it out! Haste makes waste is the big take away here lol
@@TheReturnersHideout happens to the best of us. Cool video dude, I’m currently working my way through all the Pixel Remasters and this video was a fun watch.
What's your favorite version of 2, 3 and 4?
I think my favorite version of FF2 is the pixel remaster for sure, and I love the 2D version of FF3 that they presented also, but as far as FF4.. I really love the PSP version and the SNES version, the 3D versions feel almost like a bit of a chore to play sometimes. Maybe I’m in the minority with that opinion, but I’ve never enjoyed any of the 3D remakes! What’s yours??
These are all 2D remakes right ?
The low poly 3D version of Final Fantasy IV is known for its difficulty.
Just got released in the uk in October 2024 for £60 all 6 games for the switch
Just do a 2.5d remake of the first six games. Keep what was good, fix what wasn't, and add all the bonus goodies from each rerelease.
Is pixel remaster art more beautiful then old steam version?
I'm so sad the physical switch version sold out
Oh I am too! I went to buy it the second I woke up that morning and.. it was gone…
They are available right now
I’d like to see an Octopath style remake of Final Fantasy I-VI, complete with voice acting, and GBA bonus content reinstated.
HA
The only one I'd "cautiously" recommend is FFIV, specifically if you've played FFIV before.
I know the games were rebalanced, but FFIV was made embarrassingly easy, especially if you fight every battle along the way. The earlier games benefit from the rebalancing (especially FFII), and FFIII and FFV seem to encourage experimenting with the Job System more by making the menus a bit more friendly and easier to switch Jobs.
They all look and sound great though.
I thought FF4 was already easy? Did they make it easier?
I’d like to see a fully translated official port of Bahamut Lagoon!
They are quite the conundrum for me. I think the SNES version of VI looks way better, but the quality of life features of the Pixel Remasters have made it so I don't want to play that version. Now either way I feel like I'm missing out!
I purchased it on Amazon immediately when I saw it .
@@TheReturnersHideout You took my critique in stride and responded in an appropriate manner. I look forward to what you do in the future. Subscribed.
Hi, what’s the game at 2:50 ?
I’m actually not sure, that was something I found while googling ‘turn based RPG’. I’ll look around and when I find something I’ll let you know! Thank you for commenting!
@@TheReturnersHideout ahh okay, no worries!
I recently bought the first game… it’s ok but I preferred the graphics of the GBA and PSX remaster.
Wished they would added the GBA Bonus content
I don't agree that "poor quality" makes sense as a definition for "cash grab". If it was poor quality, it wouldn't sell much. What makes something a "cash grab" feels, to me at least, so this doesn't matter one whit, is if it's "low effort", which, again, just to me, sounds different from "poor quality".
Hey thank you for commenting! The term “poor quality” I was using in this particular sense was what I was seeing in forums at the time. They were interchangeable, and that’s specifically what I was referring to; those ideas of cash grabs and poor quality!
Can you purchase pixel remaster games on a ps3 console?
Unfortunately I don’t think so - it says it’s for Switch/PS4 as far as consoles are concerned.
@@TheReturnersHideout I meant like a digital version for it on PS3 I have cd versions but there is no updated version for ps3 that you could download?
FF PR has no bonus dungeons , so i sticking to the GBA Versions.
But if I could I atleast buy FF3 and FF5 , I a FF 5 fanatic and FF 3 due to close to original .
Thank you for commenting! I suppose I'm one of the few that didn't enjoy the bonus dungeons and I just saw them as extra stuff to make the games more of a cash grab lol - I do own them all and would love to go through them again!
Pixel Remaster lacks the Easter eggs of the previous versions, including the original.
The older remake looks and plays amazing. And i don't struggle talking to an NPC
I absolutely love them! I only wish Square didn’t botch the physical releases like they did! Thank you so much for commenting and watching!
"If you cannot find the gba versions..." dude, you literally can find those in less than 30 seconds
I honestly wish they would rerelease the PSP FF1,2, and IV. Those look so damn good. Why couldn't we have got FF6 like that? my heart breaks
I've been saying that forever! I would have bought the shit out of FF5 and 6 if they got the same treatnent!
Here hoping they release on PS Plus Premium catalogue as PSP Classics.
There is no way I can have this in my collection I know everyone loves ff4 and 6. And I get that I'm strange but I love grinding. FFv and the job systems to mix and match. Worth the grind. Hope ps store gets its stuff together 9 more days. Where is it on the ps store
You can halve the exp and gil, in fact you can reduce it to zero, that's plenty of grind right there
You have to buy them separately?
You need an update to cover the switch version
Yep, you’re right! I did a live stream that went over differences and stuff, I’m working on a VERY LONG video using the switch version! Thanks so much for commenting!
what's the game at 2:50?
The dates you have listed as release dates in the beginning of the video make literally no sense... You must have made some kind of errors.
Ahh dang it.. yep - the first 3 should say 2021.. good catch my friend!
@@TheReturnersHideout FFVI is my very favorite RPG and maybe game of all time. Thanks for the help deciding if I should invest the time in playing through this version.
They are worth it. My fav is ff4 actually. ff6 seems pretty buggy.
Your welcome!
I got them for iOS and really wish I hadn’t bought them. I should have waited for a console release instead.
I've heard such mixed reviews about the iOS versions of those games! I tried to pre-order the switch physical versions however... We all saw how THAT went... Thanks for commenting!
@@TheReturnersHideout the only problem I have is the lack of controller support. That a big problem. As it stands, we still cannot preorder the digital versions.
Oh wow, controller support seems like.. a no-brainer to me to include… especially with things like the Backbone out
🤖 FFVI Remake using Titanfall engine, GO!
Uhm. Probably not aside 3.
FF3 is the gem in this collection, I’ve actually got a video coming out about it!
If you're a collector why not .
If you just play it no 😂
Emulate = Best = Save $$$ = Save Space
What about the legal grey area?
Pixels remaster is the worst version of them all
I can’t see myself paying 80 bucks for it.
THESE GAMES DONT EVEN HAVE CONTROLLER SUPPORT ON MOBILE I HAVE A FUCKING BACKBONE, I BOUGHT TWO IN FACT, AND SINCE RELEASE THE ONLY VERSION THAT DOES NOT HAVE CONTROLLER SUPPORT IS THE MOBILE VERSION. THESE GAMES ARE BEING RELEASED ON PLAYSTATION AND SWITCH AND STILL DO NOT HAVE CONTROLLER SUPPORT ON FUCKING IOS
No its not available for physical except through scalpers so no

Where can I buy this collection?
Available for PS4, Steam, iOS, Android and Switch
Out of all them years they can't make the graphics looks like Trials of Mana, or the new secret of mana 😂😂😂😂
I only played FFIV when it came out on the DS and loved it! Really would like to play the rest of them in their original state, but I don’t know if I should get them for the Steam Deck or Switch.
Physical sports are not turn based. Just wanted to point out that that was the dumbest thing I heard all day.
So in baseball, once 3 strikes have been reached they switch turns batting. In football, once a goal is scored (or a team gets beyond 4th down), the other team now has a chance to get some points too! Sports are all about turns, it’s what makes them fair. Just wanted to point that out. Have a wonderful day
This is just another cash grab. It makes more sense on Nintendo Switch than on PS4.
Why
No one should buy until they fix scroll lag
$89.99 bundle on PlayStation store.
I care about the font, that's who.
You’re right! I feel like the sprites, while they are good, feel a bit… muted compared to the SNES sprites! Thanks for commenting!
I would for all but FF2 and ONLY if they get a PS4 PS5 AND Switch PORT
FF2 has been improved a bunch, but the fundamentals are still there - just a little easier and better crafted - I have a video coming out soon about the console ports!
lol no console no buy lol
A lot of people share the same sentiment! I can’t wait until they finally do get released on console!
