    The Pixel Remasters are the best thing to happen to the franchise since 2013. On top of my elation that I can finally play an official English release of the real FF3, which I 100%'d, the rest are just as wonderful. @@tamerkoh Final Fantasy IV GBA Western release was buggy and the only version not buggy was the Japanese version and fun fact we got Final Fantasy IV first before Japan release their fixed version.
      Final Fantasy IV PSP had loads of content but a few sprites were rehashed from Final Fantasy II, the "basilisk" is the same sprite from FFII and FFIV. So I wouldn't say it didn't suffer a tad bit.
      I already know there's a mod for face fonts, and sprite characters. Though my question is what about the whole thing being a feature and thus never happened since I couldn't find any information of.

    • @tamerkoh
      @tamerkoh Год назад

      @@dragtogo2735 Yeah I wish they didn't reuse some of those sprites, cause the ones they did redo for FF4 specifically, like Baron Soldier, Zombie and Leshy all look really, REALLY good. My one and only gripe with this Pixel Remaster is the missed opportunity of not using a similar art style like Octopath Traveler as the base graphical design of each game. Yes, it looks good and they did an awesome job keeping as close to the original as possible but for the high price and low quantity that's available for purchase, I'd figure they would go all out without holding back since this was done on the latest unreal engine, and really show us what a remaster could have looked like.

It's an "Make QoL changes, better music, graphics....but take out content that were included in previous version of ALL these games." I do have the previous ports of all the games (FF1 & 2- PSP, FF3 - DS, FF4 (DS and Complete Edition on PSP), and FF 5 & 6 on GBA). I like the extra "Fiend Dungeons" in FF1, because you can get new weapons for the White Mage and Black Mage. Otherwise....they're left with the same weapons for the last 1/2+ of the game. I think all of them were pretty good as remasters, but I feel that 1 and 4 went backwards in terms of overall remasters. They had so much extra content on the PSP and GBA versions that it's a shame they weren't added in these ones. Final Fantasy 3 is probably the best one in terms of remastering quality. It's really neat that a lot of the jobs got new abilities and they all felt useful, well there's a few that I still felt like they didn't do much. It's also nice to have 5 on more than 2 systems non-Japanese side. I wonder if Steam is getting the updates from the console versions? I would hope so, I've been itching to play 5 again(I'ts my favorite one).

Sadly, I purchased the 3D remake for my phone when I was 18 and didn't seem to be enjoying it as much. you're absolutely right.
      esp for FF2, its soul of rebirth story is canon to its plot. without that its technically half-finished despite being a full game. SoR really adds very interesting lore to the Emperor, with how he basically cannot die unless both his heaven and hell halves were killed at the same time.
      and the arcane sanctuary(canonly located in the lil mountain above the town called Poft) with Deumion and the Destroy spell is important to FF2's world-lore, with it being the one of the more unique spells in the series. I wish we couldve gotten an 8bit Deumion, Phrekyos(Deumion's summon that fights you before you can speak to him) and Emperor of Heaven, that woulda been a dream come true.
      I think PR's a great version of FF2, esp with it fixing the flee bug in psp, where if 1 char out of the 3-4's speed's too low you literally can't escape certain battles/enemy formations.
      I do wish the PRs gave the ability to manually save inside of dungeons and towns like psp did(FF3 being the exception since it never had that but really shouldve.)
      that would save so much time with re-fighting bosses.
      FF3's deff a weird one of bonus content. only thing its got is iron giant superboss, but thats in the 3d remake w/ Luneth Refia Arc and Ingus(the 4 protags.) but I can deff see it working for the onion kids FF3

      @@diamantisxiii I also think it's really important because the people that bought them paid a lot of money and addressed the issues and they make changes but only for console versions that weren't available for over a year. I am definitely not going to buy the pixel remasters again because getting all 6 versions costs as much as a full priced AAA game, or more. Also, they slowly released them yet many people still pre-purchased all six games which funded the project and showed the demand for it. They're great versions but the console versions shouldn't have improvements that aren't available for PC when the latter (and mobile) were the exclusive way to buy the games, which could have just been emulated if the player wanted to experience the games. Millions of people use steam and the font was the number one complaint, there were fan patches before square even announced console versions, so they knew there was a demand but left the change for consoles only. It's kinda like Sega removing Sonic games from a Genesis collection so that customers will have to buy the new version (outside the collection) to play them. These companies are okay taking PC gamers' money but are just as willing to give them the finger if they can get more money another way.

    • @brianeych
      @brianeych Год назад

      @@diamantisxiii I just checked and realized you don't have options to turn off random encounters or change EXP or GIL rates, I personally wouldn't adjust them unless I'm doing some kind of challenge but besides the font issue, this should have been available if they're automatically including it on console versions. Basically, it's really only fans of the franchise that would buy this in the first place and it's just the right thing to do unless they're advertising the console versions as a different collection. It's almost like how they released DQ11 for PS4 and years later they brought it to Switch as the definitive version, instead of updating the PS4 version, they just resold it as DQ11S for PS4. PC gaming isn't some niche category anymore and shouldn't be considered an afterthought when it was the original test market for these remasters. I don't have much faith they'll patch the games to make them play the same because this gives PC gamers a reason to re-purchase the collection. The turning off random encounters can be a useful tool to know where to go if you're trying to beat the game for the first time at a good pace. People spend a lot of money for these games and I am pretty sure these features were marketed before it was available. I remember looking for the options when I started playing the pixel remaster version of FF2 last year, it's not a deal breaker because I already bought the damn games but it's not enough of a reason to buy the console version.

    I am very excited for these. I have only played the PS1 versions of FF1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and a translated emulated NES rom of FF3.

      Pretty much the exact same for me except for 6. It was my intro into the FF world as FF3 on SNES 26 years ago. I remember playing a fan translated version of FF3 after seeing how they decided to release it on the DS. I just didn't feel like I would care for it that way and I wasn't going to buy a DS for one game >_>

    I honestly don't understand why everyone keeps bitching about the original font. When I started playing on my Switch yesterday, I toggled back and forth between the two fonts a few times, and ultimately ended up settling on the old font, because the pixel one honestly looks blurry to me.

    It seems like the definitive version for FFIV is still the PSP version, considering the inclusion of The After Years and the opening HD intro.

      The pixel remaster for PS5 and Switch is based on the original console versions, not the previously released pixel masters which were released on Steam and others. So there are differences between the versions. I think the narrator says “console version” to mean a release other than the original, which probably adds to the confusion.
