What a refreshing video. Too many videos are more about the presenter and not about the job at hand. This is straight and to the point. Thanks a million.
This was so so helpful! My dear husband is not the least bit "handy" with tools, so I'm the nearest thing to a DIY repair person at our house. Even though I haven't done much in the way of appliance repair, this video was clear, easy to understand and made it possible for me to get my washer working again!! It took me much longer, in part because I discovered one of the rubber shock absorbers on the motor housing was missing or had disintegrated. But I did it! THANK YOU! Keep up your helpful work.
Thanks so much, my husband took the machine apart and then I went out to get the part. By now husband is at work and I was too impatient to wait for him to get home. I found this video and had the machine up and running in about 36 minutes ( hardest part was replacing the bottom clip on motor and the 2 top clips on the shell. Did not have the strength to make that easy:( So happy machine is working and I did it!!!
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! I am partially blind and on disability so my finances are tight. I don't have the money to get taken advantage of by a repair shop / repair call out. With this video, I was able to disassemble everything and get the broken part out and I've ordered a new part and will be able to put the new part in when it gets delivered. I'm so grateful for this video.
You guys rock! My neighbor thought I was nuts thinking I was trying to watch a movie and do some washer repair at the same time. He was impressed with your instructional video when I showed him I was just following along while replacing the coupler. My wife and I thank you for not only saving us some money but time as well. Our Sears/Kenmore washer has served us well and we weren't looking forward to parting with it just yet.
Watching your other videos gave me the confidence to remove the inner and outer tub and clean off about ten years of soap scum and stuck on debris. Again, many thanks.
BTW-- There was no 'trick" to putting back on the outside cover. The procedure was pretty straight forward.
This was fantastic! You covered all the bases: 1) Explained what the problem was (motor coupling needed replacement); 2) Explained how to take apart the washing machine to gain access to the motor coupling; 3) Explained how to replace the coupling, including the handy tip about seating the part correctly using the head of a screwdriver. You turned what would have been a six hour exploratory exercise (with no guarantee of finding the problem/part) into a HALF HOUR repair success story! Thanks!!!
This is a great step-by-step video. Gave me the confidence to replace the part and keep our washer running. Thanks!
You guys are fantastic! This is the second time I've had to change that coupler out. Once 5 years ago, and once this morning. Your videos have made it so much easier for me. I've changed my hood switch, the dog cams inside the agitator, and something on the water pump I forget what it was. Also, on my dryer, it's been the thermostat, drum roller belt and the gas control switch.
I figure over the past 12 years that I've owned these two machines, I've only had to spend $100 in parts thanks to you guys and your videos. If I had bought 2 new machines it would have been $2400+ and who knows what kind of headaches. Not even to mention you've supplied all the parts I needed and only off of the recommendations when I was just able to give you the symptoms I was experiencing.
You guys rule! Here's to many more years as a thankful customer. Thank you!
Thank you, this was great. This video is so clear, so well lit, so plainly demonstrated that when I took my own apart it was more like remembering something I had done before...or like the fulfillment of prophesy! Just step by step, boom boom boom, and there was the mounting with the leg snapped off like the one in your hand. Nicely done. Thanks.
I cannot thank you enough for this video. Saved me a LOT of head scratching and headaches. My fifty dollar washing machine started giving me trouble and NOW it is just as good as a new one!!! Everyone should subscribe to your videos.
This is the BEST instructional video ever! I was able to fix my washer - not quite as fast, but I did it right thanks to you! It addressed everything I ran into and there were no surprises : ) I almost can say it was fun to do!
Matt, you're my hero. My washer would fill and drain, and motor would run, but would not agitate or spin. This took 45 minutes max and was so simple following these instructions. It was clear as soon as I got it apart. The pegs were gone and the rubber was shredded to nothing. There was rubber dust everywhere. THANK YOU! Saved me SO MUCH MONEY! (Re some other comments, one side of the coupler was stuck on, so I pried, turned, pried, turned, pried, turned, eventually it did pop off.)
Thank you so much! I originally thought it was the clutch but you're including the noise that a broken motor coupler makes made all the difference. Much easier of a job than I did anticipated. Good feelings fixing it myself and saved myself shitload of money!
You're welcome!
This was super helpful, thanks! Got my old washer up and running again and these instructions were spot on!
OMG!!This video was so easy to follow. I got stuck with the bottom screw on the motor, I was convinced it was cemented on...LOL. Grabbed some pliers for extra grip and strength and viola! It was a b Ripken coupler inside. Everything else went smooth but I did have a hard time getting the shell back on due to tight spacing. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!! Load in washer now sounds quiet
This was fabulous! My husband and I just changed the motor coupler. Your step by step explanations and instructions were very clear. And I have a working washer again! THANK YOU!
You're welcome! I'm glad to head the video helped you out.
wow.... this is hands down the best DIY video I have ever followed for a project. thank you so much. I looked up a couple others on this subject and it left me unsure of myself. then once watching your video I realized it was so easy! Its amazing what clear and concise instructions can do! Plus it earned me some bonus points around the house :)
Wow! This is professional and awesome! Thank you so much for the great service you are providing, to help people save money and fix their own washer.
Good video, we had to tilt the washer to replace the Washer Motor Coupling. This makes it much easier to see what you are doing.
My washer broke down New Year's Eve and I watched this video and others to figure it out. Today, after spending $18.91 on a new coupler from a parts store, it's up and running with no problem. Thanks. Total time for me was about an hour.
Fantastic directions and speed for delivering the part when I ordered! 45 minutes, start to finish, $15 for part and shipping! Saved me at least $100 in a service charge! THANK YOU!!!
Glad the video helped you get the washer fixed up!
5 years later 40$ holy inflation!
Thank you, this video instruction was nearly spot on. Disassembled my washer, replaced the parts and put everything back together again. My 27 yr old washing machine is performing like a champ. Thanks again!
Glad we were able to help you out and you were able to get your washer running again. If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
So unbelievably helpful. My husband and I are intelligent, educated people but are completely clueless about home repairs. Thank you for being so thorough and explaining everything slowly and carefully enough for repair dummies like us. I will remember your videos and your parts company for future repairs and I will recommend you to my friends/family. Thanks!!
Candace Freed Glad the video helped you get the coupler changed!
Great job! Nothing wrong with taking a little time. Fixing it yourself without calling for service and saving about a hundred bucks in the process has got to feel good :)
Thank you for this video. It was my first time working on my washer and didn't have $700 to buy a new one. Bought the coupler for just under $20 and then started ripping into the back of the washer. I got frustrated and found your video and 20mins later it was "fixed". Now I say "fixed" because it took me another 40 mins to get the back of it together that I ripped off. Seriously thank you so must and the instructions couldn't have been easier. plus you saved me over $700 and tax for a new washer. Here's to another 20 years with this one.
Outstanding, professional video! We ordered the coupler (and new console retaining screws) from Appliance Parts Pro. Parts arrived next day as promised and we did the R&R with no problems. Thanks very much for excellent service and a terrific video.
Great video! Saved me at least a hundred bucks and really increased my husband level with the wife. Thanks. It was just as easy to replace lying down.
I understood you very well. You spoke so well and slowly for this senior to understand every move to do.. Spot on tutorial. My whirlpool coupler keeps breaking. 3rd time in 5 years repairing it. Keeps getting unbalanced ( I wont put 3 pairs of shoes at one time in it anymore) is why it keeps breaking. Thanks a Million for all the people you have just helped including me....Peace V
You're welcome! Happy to help.
So much simpler more reliable and much more longer lasting that newer appliances! I'll keep my 20 plus year old Whirlpool as long as I can. Great video. Waiting on the part which will be here tomorrow. Only difference is I just unhooked all the hose and laid it on it's back instead of taking the body of the machine off
Good luck with your repair! Let us know how it goes and if there is anything we can help you with please let us know.
@@appliancepartspros The part came in less than 2 days. Installed part and back in business in about 20 minutes. Great video! Thank you!
Excellent job Matt. A very well easy to understand tutorial. Thank you indeed!
Thank you so much for this easy to follow video! I'm not the most mechanically inclined person, but I managed to get my washer fixed without the minimum $80 repair bill. This saved me a whole lot of money and saved me from having a huge pile of dirty laundry until I could afford to get it fixed!
Good job on getting the washer fixed!
Love Matt!! I've watched many of his videos. Very clear and concise. I'm sure that I've saved hundreds of dollars watching and learning
Thanks so much. Worked like a charm. Gives me the confidence to replace other parts of my old washer.
Instructions are detailed & easy to follow.
You're welcome!
A MILLION THANKS!!! I just replaced a motor coupler on my 11 year old KENMORE washer with the guide from your tutorial. You just saved me at least $200 by not calling out SEARS appliance repair. It only cost me $7 for the part and 30 minutes of my time. Now, I'm waiting for the clutch to wear out but I'm ready for it when it happens!
Kevin P You are welcome! Glad the video helped you out.
I just wanted to drop a thanks for the video. I'm not handy at these things and I don't think I could have fixed my washer without your video.
My washer wasn't spin cycling. I assumed it was the coupler because the washer stopped when I opened the lid. A friend advised me to replace the lid switch and coupler at the same time since both parts are pretty cheap. I was surprised to find that the coupler was in good shape but I replaced it anyway. I just ran my first load of laundry and it spin cycled properly. I don't know for sure, but I suspect it was the lid switch that was causing the problems. Thanks again for your help!
This video was a TREMENDOUS help for me - thank you for the clear, concise instructions!
You saved me some cash and several days of waiting for a repairman…my hat is off to you, good sir!
You are welcome! Glad we were able to assist you. We are here for any of your future repairs you may have.
Thanks for the video. I had to replace my Kenmore 80 Series Washer drive Coupler. It is the second time in six years. However , it beats buying another washer.
Great Video Matt!!!! Changed out the drive coupler and the pump per your instructions. works perfectly.
You guys are the best! I love how easy you make it for a novice to follow. Thanks so much:)
Thank you, glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
Thank you very much Appliance Pro.. With your help i fixed my washer.. I am a lifetime customer.. your affordable and fast.
best audio and video I've ever seen. Could not have been more perfect/accurate!
An awesome video and so very helpful! You've convinced me to come to your web site instead of Amazon for parts from now on. Thank you!
Thank you! Thank you for the great instructions that were easy to follow and thank you for selling me the parts at a very good price!! This mama has a washing machine again for $16!!!
Thank you for the vid. As a female, I am so proud I was able to fix my washing machine myself.
Oh man, can't begin to describe how helpful this was. Thank you for posting this, you've saved 3 grown men money and frustration we just couldn't afford to lose.
Thank you! I just fixed a very old machine with your excellent help!
Nice fully explanative video with nice quality! I'm going to watch them all. I only work on commercial coinop laundry equipment and need to learn more about the domestic machines.
Most of the insides are the same but the cabinets are different.
Thanks man, saved me a lot of money on a repair guy. Keep up the good work.
This really helped. Took me less than 20 minutes after I saw how to get the thing apart. Thanks!
Awesome video! Turned a whole professional service into just a $20 part. Thank you!
Jared Beckstrand Glad you were able to get the washer fixed!
Well done! I used your video to replace my coupler after the fact Lol. Now we are just waiting or the part to come in. Thank you!
I used this video to replace the coupler and found it to be very accurate. It was great to be able to stop the video and replay parts.
Thank you so much!!! Worked like a charm! Just wish I could've finished the job in 10 mins like the repairman in this video! But hey I saved atleast $200 Bucks!!
Awesome, good job on the repair. Glad the video helped.
Thank you so much! This video saved me a bunch of money. Step by step and very detailed, very easy to follow.
Glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!

You are very welcome. Glad we were able to assist you. If we can help you with anything else in the future please let us know.

+brookenom Awesome, glad the video helped you fix the washer and save some money!
Excellent video. Succinct and to the point. One of the best I have ever encountered. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for the video. Made it a snap to replace my motor coupling. Also removed a footie sock from the drain pump while I had it apart!
Kevin Williams Awesome, glad you were able to get the washer fixed!
I watched your "how to put the outer shell" back on easily video. I had struggled to do this for about an hr b4 I found your video. Thank you!
Terry Bethea Awesome, glad the video helped you get the cabinet back on!
Awesome video...made changing the motor drive coupler simple. Whole job took less than an hour...probably wouldnt have taken that long but had to wait overnight for amazon to deliver the part
Glad you were able to complete your repair. If there is anything we can help you with in the future please let us know.
Very helpful video. My Kenmore is a 90 Series, model 110.C28902790 (the "C" is for the Canadian model, I believe), but it's almost exactly the same as in the video. In my case, I discovered that the problem wasn't the motor coupling, but rather a broken plastic lid switch. But, following this video gave me a chance to check the condition of the coupler parts, check the hoses for blockages, and clean out the accumulated dust bunnies inside the machine. When the coupler actually does go, it'll be an easy job. Thanks for posting.
Canuck51 Glad the video helped you out!
awesome! Just fixed this on my washer for $20 ... feeling like a champ, thanks to you!
Caesare Assad Awesome, glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
Great video. Thank you. As others have mentioned. Getting the old coupler piece off of the transmission shaft was difficult. Some WD-40 and elbow grease eventually took care of that. My coupler was not in bad shape but replaced it anyway. If it turns out not to be the problem at least I replaced an inexpensive part and got to lear a lot about repairing our washing machine.
+John Haslip glad the video helped you get the coupler changed!
Great video. Only suggestion would be to run the machine before and after install. Just to let viewers hear if the problem sounds the same as their problem. However this is the best video by far I have seen.keep up the good work.
Hey guys...I completed the repair..it was the rubber coupler, just like in your video.. it took about an hour and a half..but went slowly to sure. My washer is now working 100 % ..just like it was new again. Thanks for the video..helped me alot..
Glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
Thank you just what I needed. Saved my Daughter-in-law alot of money. Thank you.
bob jones Glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
Thank you! Save a ton of time and money. Simple easy to follow!
Rex Ayers Awesome, glad the video helped you out!
Fantastic. My wife had our machine prior to meeting to her (10+years ago) and hopefully we'll have it for 10 more.
Yes! You just saved me from buying another washing machine! I was about to just get some agitator dogs, but took my old machine apart after watching this and the coupler is busted! I'm so happy I can fix this myself!
Glad we could help!
I ordered late Thursday night and selected regular shipping, had my part by Saturday morning!
I just finished doing this repair and after watching this video it couldn't have been easier. This repair cost me less than $10 and took roughly 30 minutes. Thanks for posting.
Glad the video helped you get the coupler changed out!
Cost me $24.30 including tax. Could have ordered it line for about half that price but didn't want to wait for it to arrive.
I do have one more question. After I had everything back together I realized that I had not added back this cardboard/paper to the bottom of the motor where it had come off. My guess is that it was to keep any wires to touch each other and short out. But there is nothing to touch under the motor. Is it important to take it back apart and put this back on?
plus.google.com/u/0/photos/yourphotos?pid=6039682535727147826&oid=107591688336663880809
Nancy Michelli Sorry for the late reply, you should reinstall everything the way the manufacturer originally had it.
The only think that I didn't add was that flimsy little paper/cardboard piece on the bottom that was shown in the picture. Otherwise it is back together exactly the same.
@TheMacandpcguy It's actually not a bad design at all. The rubber piece is there in case the transmission locks up, in which case one or more pieces of the coupling would break, saving the motor and the transmission from further damage. It's much cheaper and easier to replace the coupling. This direct drive washer design is also one of the easiest to work on.
one of the best tutorial i ever seen......thanks.
Awesome, glad you were able to get the washer fixed!
Thank you sooo much, you saved me from having to buy a washer! Excellent instructions and video.
Glad the video helped and you were able to keep it running!
Thanks your video helped me to install mine. About to take her for a test spin!
Thank you for your time, we truly appreciated!
+Rosa dure Glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
Check that the drain is clear and draining properly. If the pump is getting all the water out then it should be ok. These machines have a clear plastic tub, look around the outer tub to see if you can see anything stuck between the tubs that would slow the spin down. Next it could be the clutch is slipping or the brakes are dragging, go to our website forum and do a search for: Replacing direct drive washer brake shoes. This will give you an idea of how to check out the brake shoes and clutch.
Awesome instructional video. After watching it, I was able to take my machine apart in about 15 minutes. Thank you.
wilkesjournal Glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
+wilkesjournal I agree with you !! Excellent instructions, easy to follow. My only problem was a screw from the console fell and bounced under my dryer !! Thank you AppliancePartsPros - my go to place from now on !!
Awesome, Glad you got the washer fixed!
Great video! Step by step directions were easy to follow.
Glad the video helped you out!
Much appreciated! All seems to be back in functioning order.
This is an awesome video. I just fixed my washer. It was perfect direct play by play
It’s 03/13 /23 and I used this video to replace my coupler 💪🏼🙏🏼💯 thank you
Great video! I fixed my in-laws washing machine last night!! Took a little longer than when you did it, but all in all everything went as it should.. Thanks!!!
You are welcome, glad the video helped!
Sir, thank you so much for putting out these videos. You are awesome
Tried winging it didn’t go well watch your video went great n smooth appreciate it
Awesome video! Worked like a charm and saved me quite a bit of money!!
Thank you so much! Went just like you said it was, although my laundry room is a little more cramped than your studio! Clips, screws, everything just like you said. I figure you saved me probably $75-150. Thanks!
Yes, the studio makes it look easy. Glad you were get it running and saved some $$.
Que nivel de detalle en la explicación...!, muy buen trabajo de cámara.
thanks so much - I got it done! It took me longer than most but being really slow and watching the video as I went - my machine is up and running!!! yeah.
I appreciate the helpful DIY video. I'll make sure to spread the word and come visit your site again!
Glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
Thank you so much the video made it alot easier and saved alot of money not everyone has alot of money to buy new washers whenever things break down
We're so glad that we could help! We're happy to hear we saved you from having to buy a new washer.
Good video, I was able to fix my kenmore 80 series washer, after following his instructions
Glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
Tks very much. Followed your instruction and repairs proceeded like a charm. The only complication was my Whirlpool Thintwin LTE5243DQ3 motor at bottom was offset by about 45 degrees, so once the washer shell was removed, the motor shaft wasn't point right at me. This made removal/reinstallation of motor difficult as the pump and hoses were in the way.. Mine is in a narrow apartment bathroom so there really much wiggle room to do the repair.. Other than that, the procedure in the video explained the process very well !!
Excellent indications, I just repair my Kenmore Elite, the base from the motor was loose and I only need to replace the screws to make it easy; thanks for your advise you are greats !!!!!!!!
Mauricio S. Glad you were able to get the coupler changed!
Thanks a bunch, I just did the repair with your guidance. Great job
Stephen Harris Thanks, glad the video helped you get the washer fixed!
The new style coupler has been used in production, it is not just a replacement upgrade, so it's not surprising its there. The couplers can get stuck on pretty good, you can try a little pry bar or claw hammer to pry it off. I have heard of people even cutting them with a hammer and chisel. You can also use a little penetrating oil. Be careful not to damage anything else!
FYI, be careful with these "improved" couplers. I understand that adding the metal reinforcement ring to the inside of the plastic ends makes them stronger and less likely to break. but it also can cause a new problem of it's own. My old one broke, so I installed the improved coupler. Somehow, over the course of a few weeks, my metal ring came disconnected from the plastic part. It pulled out and they became separated. So the motor shaft was spinning and the metal ring was spinning, but the metal ring was not inside the plastic all the way, so the washer would not work as it should. I used some Gorilla glue to glue the metal rings into the plastic pieces so they don't come apart from each other. hopefully this helps but I may have caused the initial problem by tapping them on the shafts in a poor way. I'd suggest using a SMALL tool to tap them on. One that does not come into contact with the plastic. I must have used too big of a tool that pushed the plastic apart from the inner metal ring just slightly.
Good observation.thanks for sharing as I start my coupler replacement
@@mikedhsr007 honestly, thank you for commenting. I forgot all about this observation. I'm going to note it in case I deal with this part again.
After reviewed several videos.YOURS WAS THE BEST. ! INCREDIBLE !
Glad we could help!
Awesome, Thanks for the video. You saved me nearly $500!
Yes, if the coupler is broken the motor would still spin and you would hear it. It could be the water level switch, timer or the motor. It could be something stuck in the pump that locks up the motor, but then you might hear it hum when it tries to start. If you need help troubleshooting the problem you can go to our repair forum and post the question, we have techs there that can help you out.
Do all dryer had coupling? because I cant see mine its only single motor.
Panasonic washing machine really annoying I'm barely able dismantle every parts.
