playing ff16 made me wanna go back and revisit this game but on pc windows edition versus the base ps4 version when it released. funny to hear john say "our new pc expert alex"
This Alex kid seems chill. Maybe he has a future in DF.
I never understand this need for super high shadows in games. I always turn it down as I prefer the softer shadows. I don't recall ever going outside during the day and looking at super sharp line shadows......ever lol.
ok
I fully agree with this. I hate the idea that all shadows need to be these super precise lines. Sorry, but if you walk through the woods on a sunny day, you will NOT see shadows like that. If a surface is close enough to the object that is casting the shadow, then you'll get a nice, fine shadow (think of the lapel on Noctis' jacket), but you won't get one from the top of a tree, 50 or so feet in the air so as to see each, individual leaf and needle. It just doesn't work like that.
That's the first thing I do also.
I had the same opinion. The highest shadow options looked too sharp, and the one down from it looked much better. It's interesting, because for a while there Nvidia Soft Shadows were really popular, which is meant to soften the shadows like we prefer. But they didn't include any options like that in this game.
PCSS and HFTS are awesome techniques, that's for sure, but holy shit is there some stupid in this OP. "I don't recall ever going outside during the day and looking at super sharp line shadows......ever lol [eww by the way].", what an incredibly ignorant, trespassing into moronic statement. I agree that _most_ shadows are soft outside, that's factually correct, and if I had to choose only one shadow option, I'd be right with you guys. However, there are nearly _always_ hard shadows present as well. Modern games are slowly getting to the point where we can get both-simultaneously-which is exactly what we should want (or more importantly, because people don't know what they want, what is correct). I really wish this game had a good PCSS implementation (like say ac unity/syndicate), while retaining the shadowlib option. These small shadow details really make the game pop, like on Noctis' breast pockets. Just because you have a good point doesn't mean you get to just pretend reality isn't a thing. If you've never seen a sharper shadow outside, then you either have never been outside, only go outside at night wearing sunglasses (so you can, so you can), live in a ever foggy Transylvanian castle town, only walk backwards staring straight up, are being insanely extremist in regards to your use of the word sharp, or are partially to fully blind.
Gotta love how a 8C/16T CPU is mid-range now!
exactly.
heh. I would not worry too much about my listed 8 core 16 threaded Ryzen there, which does look rather "high end" in pure words and numbers alone. I tested the game with different configurations on the same rig: with less RAM, with it downclocking, and with purposefully limiting the amount of threads the game can use.
One must not forget as well IMO that Ryzen is not exactly amazing in single threaded performance, it performs like a 2 or 3 generation older intel in that regard.
But thanks for the comment and watching the video! I will take your words to mind!
it sits between a 6xxx and a 7xxx series intel. Not a match for the current 8000 series im afraid. The gap is closing but its still there. I would get a hexacore Intel I5 for gaming.
I am also a huge fan of the most recent i5. A huge fan.
it's the price of the CPU that makes it mid range, not cores etc. Highend on AMD side is Threadripper.
I love how much better the geometry based plant life looks compared to alpha blended textures. It makes the plants actually appear to have volume
Most people have gtx 1050ti or 1060s , would be nice to see a test on something that the mainstream has.
Gray Fox That's not the point. This is a graphics comparison, idiot.
he claims to be midrange... now a gtx 1070 , 16gb ram and a octacore is midrange? Go read the steam surveys.
Hello there! I will definitely be making sure to cover a broader bit of PC hardware as time goes on and more of my testiong setup is in place and ready to go. In the mean time though, I will be providing that type of coverage by downclocking, and changing the game's ability to utilise so many threads as well as utilising a GTX 1060 and RX 580 (only had the upper mid tier 1070 for this part of the video).
I also typed it earlier in a comment on here, but one not forget that Ryzen may be very threaded, but it lacks that single threaded punch you see in an intel chip. It looks a lot scarier than it performs! I swear :D
But thanks for your comment and I am definitely going to keep it in mind.
1060 is pretty much equal to the rx 580
Because the 1060 and 580 perform the same.
A PC gaming expert is very much appreciated!
Yup! He's still getting setup but I expect some great things. I prefer to focus on Retro content and more console stuff so having a hardcore PC guy on board is a great fit! We want to try and expand what we've covered in the past with PC games.
And your positive commentary is very much appreciated in kind! Danke sehr :D
I agree. DF has been lacking in the PC side of things since the launch of the X. This addition to the team is very needed and welcome. And besides, John will have more time to make DFRetro videos, which is great.
KrSsumday ya I noticed that, even though there is a PC version of the game that they are looking at they don't really seem to include it and I was wondering is that because it's expensive to just keep on buying PC versions of games and try them out when you know that they will look better than the console versions or in some cases are they not included because DF knows that they will perform worse than the console versions (a KT game that has not been well optimized)
Yeah, what an expert. the game is capped to 120fps and you cant change it? there is an ini file you can tweak, also no one mentioned youcan put custom resolution scale.
Great video once again, you guys are the best when it comes down to detailed comparisons
I really appreciate when you do an in-depth analysis of each and every aspect of a PC version like you did here. This is why I subbed this channel for and also for the console stuff that you regularly do. As well as, for the awesome DF Retro series. Thank you everyone at DF. This is a very well put together video. Looking forward to the part 2 of this. Oh and Alex, welcome & congrats. Only two videos in and I already like your input/commentary on these vids, keep up the good work. You'll soon be a valuable asset to DF, I feel. Looking forward to more of your content.
As someone who has subbed your channel a long time ago, this is a wonderful comment to read. I really respect the work you have gone into in recreating console settings on mid range PCs. One thing that will hopefully happen over time, is that I can go through all the video options in detail and maintain a pace that is understandable and still exciting. It will take time I know, especially at the beginning as I develop my own sense of style.
So really, thank you for this comment. I will do my best!
It's official: Crysis 3 has been topped!
"Can it run Final Fantasy XV?" will be the new benchmark for years to come.
Sig Fried Oh god, I dread to think how badly my ancient PC would run this.
@@justanotheryoutubechannel is trash optimated.
@@kongiponkikongiponki566 I think it has gotten better, as my low end pc can run it at medium/high setting 50 fps, which isn't great, but for how good the game looks it's pretty good
Well.... Now we have rdr 2. And ray tracing.
Not just crysis 3 lol
Amazing analysis as always DF. Thanks to you guys I can better improve my settings as now I have a way better understanding of each option.
These videos are by far your best. So insightful and interesting. Good job!
If, (in real life), shadows are sharper the closer to they are to the object casting them, why don’t games replicate this? “High” settings simply seem to make shadows unrealistically sharp.
The funny thing is, if you look at actual shadows in the real world, they are anything but sharp or crisp the way they look at highest setting in FFXV. Real world shadows look a lot more like the "average" setting for shadows in FFXV. I'm looking at my own shadow now casted on the wall next to me and the edges are smudged, blurred, unclear. The shadows at highest / high in FFXV look so weird in comparison, but dropping it to average makes them a lot more believable looking (and saves you some fps lol)
Some games actually do exactly that. Rise of the Tomb Raider has something called Sunsoft Shadows as an option. What this does is make shadows behave as they would in real life, with them being sharper at their source and slowly softening. I agree that hyper crisp, distinct shadows looks strange as hell.
I mean... GTA V does this on PC. Nvidia PCCS Shadows.
Many games are doing this. But tbh, who cares? There are many unrealistic effects, it just makes the game look better. Super bloomy effects aren't realistic either, but sometimes CG graphics are looking better than realistic effects.
It depends on what the artists on the team were going for. Clearly the FFXV were hewing more on the side of realism with the way light scatters, shadows are cast, etc... In this case it's a valid criticism, whereas if the game were clearly going for a stylized approach to light, shadows, water, etc... we wouldn't criticize it with comparisons to real life.
thanks for waiting to the last second to mention this is a 2 part series. i was waiting the whole video to see performance numbers.
Great video. You touched every subject including CPU intensive graphic options which I was searching for mainly. Thanks a lot.
Love all the knowledge guys. This was a very educational video for me as I'm more or less new to PC gaming. So thank you.
I have no fucking clue what they’re talking about and I still watched the entire video
Yeah its not so simple but you could consider learning or youll miss most of DF content
I love the Super Mario World scrolling sound effect whenever John stretches the video.
Man... I've been waiting all week for this!
Please, do a performance test next.
Any chance of that part 2? Even now, a year later, it’d be useful, especially as this game is coming to Game Pass in 2020.
16 ram and an SSD is a must, my first playthrough was with 8gb ram and just an HDD, gtx 1060 3gb & i7 4790k and the game stuttered a LOT, now that I upgraded to 16gb and the game installed on an SSD the game runs a lot better.
XB1 X is holding up really well, in fact, is performing really well for a console (great job MSFT and Square Enix).
Moses Jonson Lol no. I haven't watched the video yet but if you think this way I'm pretty sure they didn't mention the real upgrades aka Nvidia GameEorks effects.
MadFinnTech I stopped at “I havent watched the video “
Xbone is 30FPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Console peasants allways compare graphics but FPS is at least double on PC on every comparison.
Sunshine Starcraft Well said, they compare unimportant shit.
Sunshine Starcraft how is 30 fps bad for a game in which you don't need to react as fast as possible? And xbox one x supports 60 fps
Great video, was this recorded before the E3 video? it feels like Alex was a lot more comfortable talking in the E3 video (not that this is a problem of course)
What settings did you end up going with for the 1070 rig? I'm having issues getting a smooth 60fps while getting good IQ out of the game. TAA feels necessary but it looks so soft at times...
Superb analysis...please do more such detailed PC settings analysis...it helps PC gamers like me a ton...and very educational as well...really appreciate !!
This review with high end PC and a average (to high) PC is AWESOME! I love how you guys discuss back and forth the 2 experiences. This gives us a GREAT perspective on what to expect in these kind of conditions! Keep up the good work!
Playing through it again, the performance and higher settings makes it an astonishing experience. It is quite demanding.
Great depth to the analysis. Thanks!
You can select 240 fps by messing with some .ini files.
I commented below, but thanks for telling us this!
Best,
Alex
hz is a diminishing return, "most" people will struggle to tell the difference much over 120fps anyway, so 120 is still very nice if you had the GPU grunt to not drop below.
You can also break the game that way. lol
as if anyone can run the fucking thing in 240fps anyway lol
still, this is good to know, in 5 years we may be able to pull this off and it will be glorious
icy1007 what breaks? The game was built to work with variable framerate, nothing is actually tied to fps to my knowledge
These PC graphics analyses are almost as entertaining as playing on PC! Keep 'em coming, DF!
Great work. Thank you for such deep analysis!
DigitalFoundry, please do an FFXV PC vid in Altissia. That's where the graphics are never done before.
Love the detailed PC analysis! Really helps when it comes to knowing the best settings to tweak for performance or visuals.
Finally DF has new staff... he sounds like he knows his stuff and looking forward to his take on technical breakdowns.
He did a great job. He is still with them today.
Thanks for showing this! :)
But did something happen to how youtube encodes videos? In the last few days i have seen videos like this, which just look horrible in motion.
There are those huge blobs which are not updated whenever something is moving it kind of looks like the scaling effect from old games like Outrun or Lotus.
Whenever the character moves around the grass it looks REALLY bad. There are just huge squares everywhere.
Can you look into this?
Older Videos(from you and others) do not suffer from this as bad as this.
This Alex guy seems chill. Maybe he has a future in DF.
*MID RANGE* pulls out a 1200$ pc.
That aint no midrange pc boi.
RX 580 use to be $200, thanks to miners it's now about $500, lame as hell.
would love to see their high end pc.
a ryzen 7 and an rx580 is midrange
LemmeSmash MemesAndShit He said "mid to upper-mid tier" literally what that ryzen build is
Bobert Daniels i know. Gtx 1070 is considered high end.
This game is amazing and it's times like this I'm so glad I invested in an Enthusiast level PC
Are obnoxious framerate drops on Rx 480/580 fixed when Geomapping left on when particles from weapons swinging show in final version of the game?
Nice Work!
I loved the graphics comparisons. I myself was not able to find differences for lightning;).
A note from me as an Vega64 user. There are some problems that I experienced with the PC Demo right now.
-TRAM@ "highest" causes stutter(with and without HBCC), "high" seems to use the same textures, but sometimes they get loaded later then with the "highest" setting.
-Turf causes little Frametime spikes on AMD. If the FPS stay high enough it is not a big deal, but @1440p or higher that may not be the case.
-some interaction with particle effects in fights causes bad FPS and very bad Frametime peaks on AMD cards. There are two "solutions" to this bug. 1st set geomapping@ off(and loose ground tessellation) or set shadows to "low". (I don't want to advertise my videos in your comment section but I made a video ablut the particle bug)
I prefer shadows@ low because they still look acceptable and I can keep the nice looking tessellation.
With my Vega, I can use shadow libs. It is not disabled for all the AMD cards, but it comes with a high performance impact and I don't think it is worth it.
Can you confirm this observations for the released game?
i set it to highest setting with all nvidia gameworks and beginning cut scene at the car with glad, game stutters to 5 fps...anyone else have this problem? i'm running gtx 1070 and it runs average of 60 fps 1080p except in that cut scene. ram usage was over 8gb in that scene.
Try limiting the game fps to 60 instead of 120, fixed the issues for me
Turn TRAM down to Average. Trust me. I have a 980 Ti and at both the Highest and High settings I had the same exact problem. Setting TRAM to Average completely solves it. The problem, from what I understand, is that setting it higher than Average for a card with 6GB or less of VRAM, makes the game think you have more than you do, and so it starts using your regular RAM in addition to the VRAM, causing all sorts of problems. Even 8GB of VRAM isn't enough for the Highest setting. You need a 1080 Ti or Titan Xp to use that setting.
The issue varies from system to system then, because my 8gb 1070 had the same problem until I limited the fps to 60. My TRAM is currently maxed out and I don't have any fps issues in cutscenes.
Having a 4gb gpu and TRAM at High is no issue at all,no crashes or stuttering and smooth fps.Highest on the other hand does make me stutter and drops my fps a bit and have had crashes.
how many RAM do you guys have?,
I have 8gbs, and i suffer stutters when using high mode :c, GTX 1060 3gb
1700 RX 580 rig mid ranged?
...Wait, so you're saying my GTX 560 is no longer mid ranged?
Ye, both are under the umbrella of mid tier.
560 is low end....
1060 is mid range, 1050ti is low end, 1070-1080 are high end, and the 1080ti and titan are the best money can buy.
KrSsumday I would consider the 1060 high end because it’s on terms with cards like the 580 and in some cases beating it
Trogdor8freebird No. Sorry to say that times go on.
Thank man, a lot of details and info! I like so much this video.
We need another fast paced review DF
Alex is doing a great job, (not that you need me to tell you) but you area very welcome addition to the DF team :D
Thanks for such a kind comment. It really makes me feel at home in the community!
New guy seems pretty good so far
@DigitalFoundry, will you test the new PS4 Supersampling feature? Mad Max seems to be running with a lower Fps count with the feature enabled.
I didn't see any texture streaming issues on my Vega 64 using the Highest setting
With a mix of average and High settings (mostly high) GTX 1070 can lock the framerate at 60FPS at 1440p resolution, still visually better than X1X, slighly lower resolution and double the framerate! this is why PC gamers pay more for their systems. and even X1X version isn't a stable 30FPS and dips into low 20s in this game.
I think the hamburger analogy works here, the console user and the pc user order a hamburger, the console users comes out quickly and it shows, the bun is falling off the meat is unevenly cooked the tomatoes are crushed theres no mustard the lettuce is a bit past ripe and the fries are burnt, the console user is happy with his meal and gobbles it up, but the pc user is happy to wait a little bit longer because when his food comes out the burger is neatly stacked, the bun is nice and evenly toasted, the patty is grilled to perfection, the lettuce and tomatoes are at peak flavor and ripeness, and the fries are hot and fresh, and the pc users meal came out cheaper
My i7 7700hq and 1070 laptop is getting a locked 60fps at 1440p with everything maxed except reflections are at average and hair works turned is turned off.
Best PC update for a game period
Looks like the best of the best next gen games back in 2018
Great analysis as always!
Welcome aboard, Alex. Great stuff.
Thanks for the kind words :D
“It feels huge John”
🤔
That's right, John. It feels huge, John. I'm making noises, John.
John.
what is with the 30fps cap? Why would you run it on a titan and then cap the fps? My system is lower than a titan and have no issues hitting 60 at highest settings
Great job. Really helped my fine tune the settings for my old low end gpu, until I can upgrade
Much as I'm loving playing this on PC, the Xbox One does an impressive job on this. Great time to be a console gamer if that's your preferred way to play.
For 30 fps? Naaaahhhhh.
I looked all around GOOGLE (more then 2 hours of search)..
And couldn't find a good explaining /comparison between settings (each separate setting comparison & explaining)
Digital Foundry is #1 when it comes to graphics and deep explaining (more then regular comparison)
Quality is something Rare these days (very few channels have quality standers)
It's "Google". Not "GOOGLE". It isn't "more then 2 hours of search" . It should be " I searched for more than two hours". "..couldn't find more than a good explaining.." should be "I couldn't find a good explanation...". Quality is indeed lacking these day's. And the "standers" OMG! somebody save the standers! Are you a Tide Pod survivor?
you only had to look on the actual steam forums for all info before the game was even released... LOL
Robert Fierce you realized that demo is slightly different than final release, do you?
Because of Demo already included Ultra Textures.. and accordingly to steam page, Ultra Textures in final realese need 1080ti (it's need 11 GB of VRAM or above)
So yes, in this situation, an expert is needed, not 12 year old kids who play 2010 games then they complain about how this game is not optimized
the forums are full of people running 1080ti's and titan xp's..I'm one of them. I knew all the settings in the game and what they affect since the demo was out. and hundreds others did as well. easy to find this info. just ignore the whiny kids with level zero accounts and look for good info instead. or waste two hours on google instead. or wait a week or more for DF to post a video. your choice.
Robert Fierce Lol, ok np mate
How about bug with summoning in fights? I heard people complain about crashing issues with summoning and some others have very low fps after summoning
Can someone tell me the name of the song playing in the background? I assume it's from FF XV OST but I can not go through hours of songs to find it :/
Are GameWorks features not accessible when you play on an AMD graphics card? If so, does that mean you have to put up with that distracting grass flickering if you don't have an Nvidia gpu?
Loving the pc focused content DF, keep up the good work. Has a blast playing this game this past week, this game runs very well on my GTX 980ti at the ultra settings preset with nvidia turf effect and nvidia hairworks on.
PC gaming in 2018.. LUL. At least you guys get 1 game a year and dont have to play bugfests early access mobile games like PUBG every single day.
30 fps on 2018? it is not 1990 anymore
I agree.
"30 fps on 2018? it is not 1990 anymore"
most games were 60fps back then lol, 2d ones anyway
Shame XV is just a big dissapointment as far as gameplay and story goes. Luckily XII recently came put on PC, being marginally better.
Does ff15 runs on a
i3 4150
8gb ram
Nvidia GTX 960 at 1366x768 resolution
shaik sarmath yes youll be a bit cpu limited but it should be very playable
Yes no problem at that res
It should. However, get a ssd. This game require you to have ssd or else loading is crazy long....
Might as well play it on an Xbox One... lol
icy1007 that res and set up is most likely a laptop.
This really is a gorgeous looking game and I'm glad I held out for the PC version, as an avid FF fan this is a real treat and thanks for such a detailed, informative video guys, keep it up!
play this game with 1080ti and 8700k @1080p max and gameworks enable, and the question gpu or cpu too pushed anyway. is this cpu or gpu bound?and how about temperature both of them?
What a shame that the story isn't at the same level as the graphics
yea separated into dlc, mini anime series, movie and demo. All bc the guy didnt want to make a FFXV-2. I wuldve been fine with a 2nd entry if it meant the story quality improves and doesnt hav to b broken up so much across multiple media forms.
Apparently the new dlc makes some changes/fixes to the story and adds a chapter and other stuff.
+TheRedRaven U mean the Royal dlc? I thought it only added a new dungeon and expanded the last section of the game. Havent played the game since I had to wait for all dlc/patches to b released.
FirPtl I skimmed through a review to see what’s in it and they mentioned “fixes to the story”. Not sure what they changed or updated but I guess they tried to improve the story.
+KrSsumday U also forgot about the Platinum demo.
I got this game on steam sale ... one of the most unoptimized games ever. The game looks so blurry , textures keep on streaming and frame rates keep dropping during combat.
Running a i7 4790K + 1080Ti + 8GB Ram and I cannot keep a stable 60FPS on 1440P.
RTX 2080ti
i7 10700k
16GB DDR4 3200MHz
I get small pauses constantly when loading in assets. Game is on an NVME.
"mid-range PC" - 1070. What.
yeah thats low end
Pfff potato pc
hahahahha this age too well sadly
2070 is not mid range, it's on the lower end of high range.
@@aaronth07 2070?!?!?!?!?!?!
Welcome Alex. Hope you can put up great content
Thanks a lot, I will do my best to put out content that is informative and entertaining!
This is a great video, thank you!
Hey guys there’s a mad stuttering issue with this game nowadays, any idea why?? Thanks, love your channel btw, hopefully figure this out sooner than later, it’s mind blowing my irratating
Hello! I'm sorry, this is a few months late, but if you're still curious: the August 2018 update to Final Fantasy XV on Steam introduced the Avatara feature as well as an unfortunate, consistent stutter. The only way to fix this is to roll back to a version before the Avatara update. However, Square just recently announced that they're planning to patch out the Avatara feature (which contained an online functionality Steamworks check that most folks believe caused the stutter to begin with) in June, so it's possible that the stutter will be "fixed" soon.
@@sagewaterdragon is it fixed now?
@@tostadorafuriosa69 Cases vary, but generally the answer is yes.
Loving the hentai focused content DF! Keep it up.
NordicRainy lol
This would be Yaoi with a hint of Bara?
NordicRainy what? I'm very confused lol ff15 isn't hentai
Right!
Next time they will do technical review on Gal Gun and Senran Kagura if they see your comment
How do I fix the frame pacing on PC? I have an 1080 ti and it still looks choppy when 30 fps capped
Thanks for the video guys.
I have a question. In many games I see shadows appearing just in front of my characters (well especially when they are on cars), even when my settings are on highest. I saw the same problem on many games on youtube, including FFXV too. Is there a way to solve it? (my card is GTX1060 6GB, I7-6700K, 16GB RAM)
Also could you post a video comparing each setting on high, average and low ( while keeping others on average for example)? It would be interesing also to compare different PC settings (or presets) to PS4 Pro different modes.
60FPS is the real game changer. After completing it on the PS4, the PC version honestly feels leaps above the consoles. Especially since combat is so fast paced.
leonthesleepy ff 15 needs minimum 60fps for it's combat, played through on ps4 and you Literaly can't tell wtf is going on or what you're doing In 30fps 95% of the time.
I agree...i regret playing it on the PS4
240fps is wheres it at bro
im only 3 hours into the game on pc.. and it, seems boring
does it change?
EDIT about 10 hours in now and its getting much better
No.
No
yes
Nope
You're not playing it correctly.
Would you guys consider using a Nvidia Titan in your test suite; or are you waiting for a Geforce variant of the Volta architecture ?
Which in game settings would be viable for 4k or 1.2 DSR of 4k on 8700k, 1080ti oc for sixty fps?
I'm so happy pc is finally getting the ports it deserves! ❤
already play on ps4 but i will buy steam version for sure. that graphic is masterpiece
did the same
Watching it now, but did they cover the widespread (Universal?) Summon framerate issue?
The mouse (F1) button is for changing the window position in windowed mode, does nothing in fullscreen mode unless you have more than 1 monitor.
Why do you guys get an overpriced CPU & GPU but cheap out on the DRR4? DRR4 at over 3000Mhz does make a difference in performance.
The Zen architecture takes advantage of faster ram. But what do i know? im not a DF PC expert.
It's been very difficult to even GET the ram chips I need let alone those at a reasonable price. Ram is in a horrible spot right now.
have you seen the prices of the GPus?
True ram is overpriced at the moment, fair enough.
Not. You need a ryzen 7 or a threadripper to make a difference with ram speed.
medium settings in 1360p while struggeling to maintain 30 FPS... Xbot One X is laughable. That's as far away from the "4K 60 FPS" talk back at E3
That’s also a developer issue and not a console issue. Do some fucking research. The presentation of a game isn’t solely based on the hardware it’s running on. It’s HEAVILY dependent on the developer taking advantage of said power. If a game isn’t optimized it’s doesn’t matter what it’s running on.
did you have the 70GB high resolution texture pack installed?
You guys failed to mention Nvidia Flow for some fire effects, like the campfire. My tests show that is part of the "Assets" option, which I wish it wasn't since I wouldn't have the high res pack if I could enable it without the high res pack.
Of course the PC version is better but COMMON! For 500 bucks I'm blown away on the xbone
you got what you paid for, on next life try to be rich please
Laggy It actually runs 60 fps on my 1070(what I found for about 80$) but when I put the resolution up to 200% it starts lagging really hard and drops to 20fps. What is the resolution even?
Same setting as XB1X you'll get 40K/30+ on a GTX 1070 stock, almost perfect frame pacing as well locked to 30fps.
Titan XP vs One X ? 😱 😅
It's stupid because 1080 Ti is about the same as an XP anyway.
Earth is about the same as Jupiter
KrSsumday Obviously it costs £600 whereas you can get the Xbox for £400
KrSsumday Because GTX 1070 is more powerful than a X1X GPU.
video clearly shows how a 1070 easily beats the X ..what u talking bout Titan XP for? We show it cause we can ..not cause it's needed
can anyone tell me how to lock the game at 30fps with good frame-pacing since the in game 30fps lock is a bit awful??? Using RTSS make pre-renderred cutscene run at very low fps for some reason :(
Đỗ Quang Minh you can do it from the amd/ nvidia control panel, it works better than the ingame lock
Yeah what he said, use nvidia control panel to manage 3d application settings.
Đỗ Quang Minh use riva tunner statistics
Is it a need for higher resolution to enable anti aliasing? I dont think so...
FFXV looks amazing & perform well, but anybody on PC feel that FFXV PC version isn't as optimized as something like Witcher 3? I mean Witcher 3 has dense area with forest, snow, etc.
It is well optimized. People are dumb and think their 1060 have to stay competitive for 10 years. Graphics evolve.
I think I have a total of 300 hours logged in the Wticher 3, a game that I absolutely cherish, but this game in terms of rendering features is quite a lot higher pegged than the witcher 3. It should though! It came out nearly 3 years later on PC!
Optimisation is also a tough word. Optimisation can also mean making the same visuals run with better performance, or culling those visual features for less performance.
Both games do allow you to reduce settings though enough to approach consoles at which point you start seeing framerates look much better... and more what you expect. But all these larger high, ultra, or optional features tend to be very heavy... with good reason though! World space ambient occlusion, hair rendering, or massive floral rendering are just brutal computational problems. I am grateful the game offers those options even though it makes it look less "optimised" as a result.
Thanks for your comment and taking the time to watch the video!
Parallax maps have been around for a while. Look at the 2004 TES IV:Oblivion demos.
Yeah, or hidden away within Far Cry 1's editor :D
This game may not have Parallax mapping as far as I could find on any surface, but it definitely does have the available tessellation for the ground.... which has some distinct advantages over normal parallax mapping. For example, how it handles grazing angles, how shadows look when they cast across it, and how you can technically align IK to it.
Sunshine Starcraft the thing is with the same GPU (old or new), Witcher 3 has a better graphics fidelity & settings in stable 60 fps than FFXV. Also, I think the way the lightings & shadows rendered in FFXV seems pretty taxing while it produced not that good (in my opinion). I've this weird "might be bug" shadows when characters enter/exit from a contrast lighting area. Also, compare it to something like MGSV, it has a better visuals on certain aspects (especially the dynamic lighting effects) than FFXV.
Though, there is no denying that FFXV has excellent 3D hairs & the best in-game 3D foods in any game, LOL. It's so detailed that you can see the glimmering texture of a meat that might get you drooling.
Anyway, maybe that's also why the new Kingdom Hearts & FFVII remake are using UE4 instead.
Why does my Xbox One X graphics never look as good as they say it does?
Your phone is 720p
Derp Derp because u don't have one
You either dont own one or dont have a 4k television.
Probably because its imaginary.
You probably have a 1080p display. While the x automatically detects 1080p tvs and the hardware applies supersampling and other aa methods, you won't get the same sharpness as you would on a 4k tv.
Part 2 coming anytime soon, or have i missed it ?
So, is it going to be part two of the PC version test, the performance?
Xbox One X the top tier console
Vs
Top tier PC maxed out
Xbox One X holds it own good job Microsoft
It actually does, doesn't it? I was impressed with how nice it looks. PC version is indeed an improvement but the Xbox One X version is no slouch.
Kirk-Da Rooster Gordon Lol no. I haven't watched the video yet but if you think this way I'm pretty sure they didn't mention the real upgrades aka Nvidia GameEorks effects.
You might want to watch the video then.
30 fps though...Pc is 60 fps with better visuals (not overly better, but still better)
The framerate is a huge difference
Very respectable for an APU! I'm 100% pc gaming through and through, but I will say that the one x is tremendous for its price point and architecture. The only concern is have with Microsoft, is that they release everything on pc too, so I can't bring myself to buy a one x as it will generally end up being a 4k bluray player.
This game looks so good at true 4K. I originally played FF15 on PS4 Pro, and when input switching from PC to PS Pro, the difference is staggering. As for the Xbox One X, it is in this weird place, I own one but I have not booted it up in months. I ether played the game on PS already, or I prefer to buy the PC version of a new game. There really is no reason for me to have an Xbox One X. Now if I did not own a PC, that might be a different story. All in all the PC version maxed out in 4K with HDR on a OLED is breathtaking!
Wtf did you buy an Xbox one x for ?
Derp Derp I work in the industry. I kind of need to be in the know for me to do my job well.
I'm playing this right now on a xbox one x and an LG OLED B7 55inch. All of that talk is gibbirish compared to actually playing the games that takes advantage of the hardware and there's over 100 of those reasons to boot this bad boy up on an oled display. Im in IT, have a nice rig, n am smart enough and have the common sense not to buy a "pro" over my standard ps4. Smh
Hater
Young Native For you this may be the case. Not so much for me. Similar to you, I am playing on a 65” LG C7 OLED, and I am hard press to find a game on Xbox X that I can’t play in true 4K with better FPS on my PC. Like I said, if I did not have a PC, the Xbox X would be the one I would play my 3rd party games on. If you care about Performance and Graphic quality then PC is hands down the best. If you care about exclusive games, then PS4 and Switch is your best bet. That leaves Xbox in this wired middle ground that makes the system useless for me personally.
How do i fix the horrendous 30 fps skip in this version?
Great video! You guys should include FF15 along with Mafia 3 (CPU) benchmarks.
Xbox One X once again continues to amaze me
Not bad for a $500 box.
Otie Floro Lol no. I haven't watched the video yet but if you think this way I'm pretty sure they didn't mention the real upgrades aka Nvidia GameEorks effects.
Xbone is 30FPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Console peasants allways compare graphics but FPS is at least double on PC on every comparison.
Otie Floro absolutely 👍
Sunshine Starcraft are you just copying and pasting your comment under anyone saying something nice e about consoles? This is the third time I'm seeing this is exact comment from you on this video
That's sad man....like really fucking sad
Michael I disagree. If the option is there for it’s nice. But if it isn’t there big deal.
It's really sad to see how all the Xbox fanboys are crawling out of their shadows now that the Xbox One X is released and use every opportunity to say how it is the best console ever made and that the PlayStation sucks. Even though in the end there isn't that much of a difference and it's all about the games anyway. That being said, it's great for MS that they have managed to build a 500$ box that can achieve such a performance. Personally, I can't wait to play Last Of Us 2 on PS4 Pro. Looks amazing so far.
RedVIII Okay, I’m excited for the next Last Of Us as well, but how the hell does it look ‘great’ so far? We haven’t seen any gameplay.
It's not an achievement for MS to be able to build a 500$ box like that. They added a bit of memory and a faster GPU. Given the CPU is a dinosaur and the memory is shared between CPU and GPU, it's clearly not hard to make.
Also, achieving 4k in 30FPS is easy. a 200$ graphics card do it (the graphics card have a ton of components around the chip who cost a lot and are useless for MS, they just buy the chip itself). If you add 50$ for the CPU (yes, this is what it's worth) you still have more than 200$ for the small amount of memory, the small power supply, the low cost proprietary motherboard. Since they buy all that stuff in large amount, they have a lower price too.
RedVIII why do you let it get to you
You must care deep down
Sunshine Starcraft well build one and show us how unimpressive the Xbox one x is. All I hear is talk, can’t wait for the video!
Sunshine Starcraft at current GPU prices? Fat chance.
Welcome to Alex to the df team!
Thanks a lot! :D I hope I can make content that is both informative and entertaining in due time!
would this game be able to run at 60fps with an i5 8600k and a gtx 1060 6GB?
