Well, I was already going to get it on Switch. This is just icing on the cake. It's really crazy how far technology has come. I still remember at the beginning of gen 8 when 3DS and Vita launched. While those systems looked good for the time, they were still a good ways below the PS3 and 360 in many ways. While Switch is definitely below the vanilla PS4 and vanilla XB1, unlike Vita and 3DS when compared to PS3 and 360, Switch is strong enough to get ports from XB1 and PS4 and in most cases, while there's always a difference between versions, the Switch versions are usually not far off. This is just another example of this. On top of this though, this is using a Tegra X1, aka, a chip from 2015. Tegra chips have gotten a lot more powerful since then. If a new Switch launches in 2020 with a Tegra chip from 2018, like the Xavier or Orin, that could be a pretty sizable jump.

@Frank Gringer Red-Out is on PS4. Also objectively speaking Red-Out isn't anything like WipEout. In my personal opinion WipEout is much better than Red-Out.
It's a third person title with full camera control. How are people downplaying how smooth 60 FPS looks simply because the games combat doesnt benefit from the 16ms response time?
Looove this game, i already own the PS4 copy (which haven't got the time to play, have priority to new games) but i think i'm going to triple dip with the Xbox One to play on the X.
How is it possible that a game of 2006 can't run at 4k 60fps on X and Pro? Even Nathan Drake Collection runs at 60fps on base PS4 and those are games from the previous generation with lots of improvements to the visuals.
PS2 games are notorious for having difficulties being ported to modern platforms, so while one could argue some optimization problems with this game, it's really the fact that it's root is a PS2 that is causing these issues. PS3 ports to other platforms have similar issues, but it's largely more CPU related, where PS2 is more GPU and CPU related code problems being translated onto other platforms. Switch also has the extra bonus that it's also being translated to ARM going from x86 from PS2's architecture, so I'm not totally shocked of the resolution issues there, on top of the already difficulties with porting PS2 code. Honestly, the only real way they could really "optimize it", per say, would be if the entire game was a total rewrite, both for the graphical back end, and the base code that is running the game. And realistically, that's outside of the budget and scope of doing a port of this nature. It's not really a defense, mind you, but trying to understand why these difficulties exist.
PS2 games used the emotion engine's features and are therefore not as easy to port as you might think. a really high quality port by a studio like Blurpoint that has a higher budget would easily be able to run at 60 even on Switch. but square cheaps out and only does the minimal effort needed to get them running. so, basically, this is a pretty low budget project and the team who ported the game didn't have a lot to work with so they did what they could with the PS2 code they had.
I'm glad that while the xbonex is ultimately the better version the switch port isn't a huge difference over all. The fact that it is largely on pat with the xbone port is saying a lot
Of course it will. They are just waiting until the other ver of the games to sell good enough before they release a patch for the PS4 because if they did it the same day they know fans would do damage control to affect the other games from selling. This is how 3rdP's max out sales for their games.

but the framerate of switch version is very smooth without spikes. better than ps4 version. why not 1080p? one reason is that: If the dev team implements 1080p on switch, many vfx effects may have to be redesigned. because these vfx are designed for ps2 only. The vfx extremely use up ps2 capability. And the ps2 architecture is very different from modern hardware. it takes a lot of gpu computing resources to replay these vfx on switch.
60 fps is cool and will look sharper in motion, like Hitman 2 on X or SotC on Pro. I would choose it over 1440p, and will buy again. But I feel like 4K should have been a possible option here for a PS2 remaster, since FF13 from 360 looks incredible in 4K through backwards compatibility. However, I remember the PC release was really just upscaling 2K textures, so it would never be true 4K, but the aliasing, allowing 60 fps and post processing FX could work wonders.
I'm a bit confused, they talk about the game being 4k at 1:58, but then state that it's 1080p later. Same for the switch, stating that it's 720p/1080p, then stating that it's actually 80% later. Edit: They were talking about FFX.
You know what's funny about this game in terms of resolution? This game fully supports triple monitor mode in surround on the PC. And yes, the UI correctly adjusts without modding it. I know it's unnecessary to play at triple monitor but damn this game is amazingly immersive when monitors are surrounding you.
It always astonishes me how Square Enix managed to develop and release Final Fantasy X just about a year after IX. I mean, the PS2 was just a little baby in 2001; how did they manage to master the hardware so fast and make X such a massive improvement over IX?
Felix S. The linear gameplay and the active story telling made X better than IX. And let's not forget Blitzball the single greatest mini game in FF history.
Marlboro Man Final Fantasy IX beats X in all aspects. X is the Alpha Version of XIII and by that the beginning of the downfall of FF. It is linear, easy, badly written and started the generic realistic look of future FF games. It also has no real cities or places to explore. FFIX is the epitome of Final Fantasy, even Sakaguchi himself considers IX as the ultimate Final Fantasy Game. X does not hold a candle.
Felix S. You must be wearing a helmet to think IX is the epitome of FF. VII stands at the top by far and then I would have to give it to either V or X. IX wasn't even better than VIII but I must admit VIII was pretty damn good. Also it was XI and XII that turned it into a generic series. I quit buying after XII and I stopped having any hope for the series after XIII. I haven't even played the new one because I don't even want to waste my time and I am sure they will ruin the remake of VII too.
Marlboro Man VII is the most famous one but the fact you being not able to distinguish between popularity and quality already disqualifies your statement. VI eg is so far above VII it is absolutely ridiculous.

How is it possible that a game of 2006 can't run at 4k 60fps on X and Pro? Even Nathan Drake Collection runs at 60fps on base PS4 and those are games from the previous generation with lots of improvements to the visuals.
PC got you covered!
It runs on Xbox one x at 4k 60 fps

Xbox One X should've easily been able to do 1800p or even 4k at 60fps. Disappointed with the 1080p result.
Especially a ps2 game
Maybe it will be updated at a later date like they did with the pro version. But at 60FPS it’s still nice.
BenoHourglass He was talking about FF X being 4K.
X an improvement over IX? IX rapes X aka one way simulator without even trying.

Not sure if you are talking about actual graphics while playing the game or if your judging by this RUclips video graphic quality. It is not as apparent in the video as it would be in actuality.
@@issaciams still looks sharp enough. I can barely tell the difference between 1080p and 900p on my 1080p screen anyways
@@issaciams While playing the game, couldn't tell.
Is this video zoomed in and cropped for everybody else? I'm seeing graphs and logos cut off at the edges … this is happening for me in Edge where I get AVC1 from RUclips but not in Firefox where I get VP9.
Edge has 4k support on default, thats why.
