i'd take 1080p 60+fps over 4k 30 any day. my 1080p 144hz monitor and pc get me smooth 144fps 1080p gameplay with zero tearing. witcher 3 at 1080p on ultra settings at 70-100fps on pc still beats ps4 pro. pity witcher 3 is a pile of shit made for pretend gamers who cant play dark souls. 4k 30fps is still 30fps. 60fps is far more important than 4k hdr. god of war 3 still looks and plays amazing. this doesn't look like a god of war game...
@Oscar Medina does changing the difficulty setting to easy reduce enemy count in god of war. Or is it that enemies can be killed without breaking a sweat like easy mode in any other game. I am asking this becuase my skills are barely passable in sword fighting games.

agree, u know i was never able to have a PS4, I sold my PS3 long time ago due to money issues, and never was able to play any PS4 game, now I'm much better and had the fortune to grab a PS5 just last week, first game I decided to play is GOW, and ohh man, on PS5 with 60 fps 4K is just insane, looks like a recently released game, I just cant believe how good it is.

Tried to grab an XBox again last year during the lockdowns, usually played on both consoles in the past, and everywhere was sold out. Finally found a Walmart with 1 PS4 Slim left. Played Spiderman and Ghost of Tsushima and the Tony Hawk 1 and 2 Remake on that, then managed to grab launch preorders for both the PS5 and Series X, which I never buy new consoles at launch. Although now I’ve also reserved a Steam Deck as well, so it is nice to be back into gaming again. Forgot how much I missed it. Basically had almost everything from last gen to catch up on all at once though, and it was kind of awesome. Not even just first party, but third party as well. I’ve played so many games this past 8 months and I’m actually doing a third playthrough of this game now. Ghost was awesome at 60. Days Gone was probably my favorite at 60, that game was a surprise given the reviews and is an awesome game. They really should upgrade a few more. Which I guess they are a bit. Looking forward to the Death Stranding PS5 Director’s Cut next month as well. Similarly, XBox’s fps boost has been awesome as well. It doesn’t take much for me. Give me 60 fps and I’m good to go.
@@ivanleon6164 congrats! You should definitely check out Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart if you haven't yet, it's absolutely gorgeous and super fun to play. The PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West is also incredible and amazing to play at 60fps. Also, if/when you decide to upgrade your SSD storage, I highly recommend the Samsung 980 Pro with pre-installed heatsink. I got the 1tb version and it works great, I now have over 30 games installed on my PS5 and I still have room for a few more

@@ivanleon6164 nice! I'm at the very end of Horizon and I was running around finishing side stuff before I beat the game and I've done pretty much everything now. But since they added new game plus I feel like I can finally complete the last mission. Also, I highly recommend Control: Ultimate Edition. It has a 60fps mode and a Ray Tracing mode, but the 60fps is the much better option. It's a really fun third person shooter where you have a few different guns and get different powers, the main one that's a core part of the gameplay is telekinesis, where you can pick up and then launch tons of different objects at enemies to damage and kill them. You also end up getting the ability to levitate and move around for short periods of time, which is really great in combat since you can shoot and use your powers while you're floating in the air. It can also help you reach new areas. Anyways, it's a fun game and the shooting mechanics are really tight and solid, as are the powers, definitely worth checking out

Dude... THE GAME ITSELF is beautiful. Sure a PC can oompfh out more graphical fidelity with high end hardware, but it's still beautiful and an achievement on any platform. Even at "standard" HD this game is absolutely breathtaking.

I'm a bit late on this, just beat God of War last week (I've had it since launch). The graphics are on another level. It really proves that graphics are far less about compute theoretical powers, and much more about developer skill, time and attention to detail. Probably the best graphics on any game I've played all around factoring in artstyle.

Hailey Matthews Play Overwatch. It'll change your mind. The level of fluidity is necessary. Experiment more with 60fps, like in Nioh and The Last of Us Remastered. It's objectively better than 30fps. Is it so much better that it renders 30fps unplayable? No. I think that people are stupidly hard on 30fps, but pushing developers to aim for that 60fps is good, so, I try not to complain about that.
shyh horng today standard 4k must have at least 8 teraflops to run fully native 4k in this modern games... So ps4 pro with 4.2 teraflops thats really good gpu power... And almost all developers studio are using console as there base hardware to do some new games... So it is not a surprising ... Gta 5 was made for the ps3 last gen, witcher 3 was made for the current gen console, watchdog 2 was made for the ps4 spec, and plenty more... All of this game can be port to pc at there full potential so pc version is always the definitive version of the game...

Another great game with *_zero micro transactions, loot boxes and season passes._* Definitely something I will support! And more is coming. Who Dat Ninja - While it would be nice to have 60 FPS in large open world games the current hardware just can't do it. Even the Xbox One X has trouble with larger environments. At best they should have options like in GoW, high resolution mode for those who prefer their games look the best and a performance mode for those who prefer framerates greater then 30fps.

Native 4K and Checkerboard look nearly identical that you have to zoom in 400% to spot an insignificant difference. So much for people pushing that "Fake 4K".
Arbiter the only big difference is the texture quality, but the cheakerboard does not have 4k texture quality, but both versions is using native 2160p pixel count the difference is checkerboard 4k is half the pixel on a box, but the pixel counts is legit, that is closer to real 4k according to digitalfoundry... You need to zoom it which one is the real 4k if you can spot the artifacts it means the resolution is checkerboard...

Whilst Microsoft were buying exclusives for the 360, Sony were investing in their first part studios. We can see which was the option. Tyler Holt Sony's first party studios are always going to have the most cutting edge technology and knowledge of hardware though. Most developers will never keep up with the technical prowess of studios like SSM, Guerilla and Naughty Dog, nor should they be expected to. Let's keep pushing for better technology and hardware IMO. People say that PS5 is gonna stay behind because of Xbox small power advance, boy, look at what they could achieve with the PS4, I completely trust Sony game studios to show what they can do with even more power, is about the ambition of the developers and how they extract every drop of juice from a console
Performance honestly only really becomes a problem with third party titles, both consoles can't play the same exclusives so can never be compared. No denying that currently the xbox one x is just the better console in terms of performance in majority of games, but there's too many great games you'd miss without having a PS4. I see it being a similar scenario next gen also but the PS5s SSD could well close the gap in performance between the consoles anyway, really interested to see what developers can do with that insane speed (looking to be 2x faster than series x for reference)
@@David-bj8ri the difference in gpu power is so small on paper that you can almost say the real world performance will be exactly the same. Not to mention the GPU PS5 has is clocked much, much higher. That means rasterization speed goes up. Most likely games will be 1440p 60 fps with raytracing and 4k 30 fps with raytracing. I say this since Demon Souls was 1440p 60 fps with raytracing and Halo Infinite was 4k 60 fps no raytracing.
@@josuem7398 The gpu power is actually quite large. The og xbox was less than a tflop weaker yet it was struggling and dropping down to 900p and 720p while the ps4 was at 1080p. The xbox series x uses rdna 2 while ps5 doesn't, has a overall more powerful gpu(The high clock speed of the ps5 to make up for lower cu count could hurt it's cooling as it's been documented to run hotter than the series x not to mention the 10 tflop reading is based on it's boost clock and will more likely sit around 9.5 tflops) and the x has a higher clocked cpu over the ps5. The ps5 will have plenty of power to make beautiful looking games but after 7-8 years I can see a decent gap forming especially in third party games.

A super high quality AAA singleplayer game that is given time in the oven with zero microtransactions, while Microsoft makes fairly frequent sequels to the same franchise with microtransactions thrown in. Microsoft needs a Guerrila, Santa Monica, or Naughty Dog equivalent.

The most important are *Remedy* , *343 Industries* , a part of Epic Games (The Coalition) and yes...Mojang 😂 I respect both consoles because I had PS1, Xbox (the first one, yes for Halo), PS3, Xbox One X and for the next generation I choose again Xbox Series X

@@simlife445 not everyone enjoys fast 60 fps gameplay, 30 fps with beautiful visuals is better enjoyed on a game like this. 60 fps is better for multiplayers and racing games, and there are people out there that only buy games for the single-player story mode. If the developers added multiplayer to God Of War, the single player could have suffered in some way (poor graphics or a shorter campaign), so people are happy games like this get released without multiplayer content - the focus is on the story, and at 20+ hours in length, it's up there with the best of the best. Look at the Call of Duty franchise, the campaigns are 5-6 hours long, those games are terrible for single player, but great for multiplayer

played it on the base ps4 and now I'm playing it again on ps5. The graphics are still really good plus 60fps makes a massive difference. The only nitpick I have is that they could've updated this game to support dualsense. everything else is still amazing

Because you are not sensitive on frame pacing thats why digital foundry said its depends on the user.. Some of the gamers are sensitive enough from frame pacing... Performance mode on god of war they use uncapped frame rate so expect up and down frame measure all the time.. When i switch to performance mode i can already feel right away the unstable frame rate ... For me god of war at 30fps is much better because it is very stable.. Rather than performance mode at 45 to 50s frames per second going up and down... For me 120fps unstable frame pacing is.much better because in my eyes i cant tell the difference between 90s fps to 120fps unstable..
Simply STUNNING! I loved God of War on the PS3 and own all of the games. I'm an Xbox One X owner and love my system BUT this is one of the games I wished I could play. Enjoy this gem PS4 owners!
No those games really don’t and where do you think these technologies are developed and used first....The Pc. Saying that the games you mentioned do have a nice art style and are impressive. There really is more to design and process happening in games than I would assume you understand from your comment. But it is great that some tech used 12 years ago or so in PC games is making its way to consoles.

It's true, no modern pc game comes even close to the visuals of Red dead 2 or God of War or even Uncharted 4, which is nearly 3 years old. Sony's developers are by far the most talented in the business. Their attention to detail is astounding! I wish they could develop games for the Switch. They would even beat out Panic Button! I have a PS4 Pro and a Switch and couldnt be happier!
It's also the way it's implemented that makes a load of difference. As DF pointed out, Santa Monica does it so expertly in GOW, its use of checker boarding even surpasses Horizon's (the previous best known implementation) in total sharpness.
Jonathan Moore a big difference is noticeable when the game is in motion. Then you see the artifacts at the checkerboard feautered game. I think the checkerboard technique is great, it delivers a great sharpness for much less processing power.

This is just fucking incredible, seriously God Of War on a $400 PS4 Pro produces better visuals then any PC game i've ever played... , even being 30 FPS they made the game feel very smooth, this game is a damn MASTERPIECE , and deserves every 10/10 rating it gets
yes agree not fan of any platform cuz i use both so i like both of them and console games make the best story games and looking to date PC has them to but not much that will look like this (story and how the game play's)
I sold my base PS4 after beating this game to get a new GPU and 4k monitor since the used market is super cheap right now. I agree though, this game was a masterpiece. I might get a PRO later though since I can utilize the resolution upgrade now. The upgrade just made more sense to me for pc since I already had a pc, and the 1070ti was 290 and a sceptre 4k monitor was 200(500). As opposed to to paying 400(600 with monitor) for the pro which would've costed more for less performance. Also on the used market, I can't find them for less than 340 unless it's defective. So if you guys see anything let me know lol.
HDR makes a huge difference in this game. The HDMI ports went out on my TV and I switched to a different port that didn't support HDR and the game look really different. Lucky I did a factory reset on my TV and the ports were usable again.

What is Microsoft doing? I'm not being a fanboy, but seriously.......... Releasing Sea Of Thieves for 60$, Cancelling Scalebound, and it doesn't help that Crackdown III is not looking so good. I'm no fanboy, but Sony is killing it. Also doesn't help that Nintendo is coming up fast with their line-up. Other than the X or personal reasons, I can't imagine anyone wanting an Xbox at this point in time. Really hope they can pull it together, because it is not looking good for them.
Triss Merigold I would make an argument like many play Xbox for racing and considering Forza 7 looks better and plays better than any other driving game out there. So that’s one exclusive that wins it for Xbox. Other than that we are kinda lagging behind yes, especially since the fall of halo. But hey Microsoft may surprise everyone. Also sea of thieves is free with our game pass, which is pretty cheap. So actually a hell of a lot of people have bought it for free so it is once of Microsoft’s best exclusives at the moment - honestly they made a hell of a lot of money out of it, as PC players spent a ton of money on sea of thieves also. Lastly I kinda get frustrated with why Xbox and PlayStation is compared? PlayStation are clearly the better console market, seeing as they have been around FOR LONGER. Why does everyone expect Microsoft’s Xbox franchise to blow Nintendo and Sony out of the water? It’s never gonna happen. Microsoft can’t compete with Sony, because Sony have the reputation to earn a lot of these franchises, so tbh Microsoft have a huge disadvantage here. Last point I wanna make however is that we are winning the hardware war and the Xbox one x has out sold the ps4 pro massively - personally I play things like Witcher 3 and overwatch etc - all of which play better and look so much better on the xbox one x right now. So for people who don’t have the money for a gaming pc, the Xbox one x is best right now and I would say our community is far less toxic. However, for quality games every month or so and really amazing exclusives like God of war, PlayStation is the way to go. Lol I have an Xbox one x and a PlayStation 2. Besides I hate to say it, no matter how well PlayStation and Nintendo do, Xbox will our do them and be best eventually. The reality is Microsoft have too much money compared to them both and will just keep investing into Xbox until it our lives all competition. - a bit disappointing tbh but that’s Microsoft for you (money, money money...) Also was gonna just add, I think more people play Xbox right now for the multiplayer experience but I am not entirely sure, just basing it of my friendships and people I know.
I think they are just content to be a 3rd party machine. Looks like they're all in on game pass for their primary profit. Personally wish microsoft will invest on AAA high quality online centric games with a sprinkle of high budget single player games just to make xbox different to ps. Dont think its gonna happen though, they dont wanna cross paths with the likes of cod and other 3rd party online heavy games. PUBG was such a wasted potential for xbox smh.

It looks mind blowing in 4k hdr. Even full HD on pro and base look amazing. The lighting, the sharpness and overall the Art make it look next gen. And audio is superb aswell. There are many encounters and levels where is smply unreal good looking. Colours and specially effects and lighting is on its own level
To be honest, pushing 60+fps checkerboarding is the way to go in the future, the increased sample count (due the increased fps) will allow for great 4K image quality while freeing up rendering times for other advanced rendering techniques. Once we add proper physics-based rendering, real-time ray tracing games will be projected extremely realistically (even if they are cartoonish or fantasy). However, the rendering performance required for these tasks are really high and checkerboarding will drastically help mitigate this issue. Superior graphical fidelity is the future, not "native 4K"... The increased image quality benefit is definitely not worth the massive loss in rendering times. Sorry guys, Native 4K is only a sales pitch for XOX and console wars, but looking at this objectively as a developer, native super high resolutions isn't preferable to what we could do with games if we have increased rendering performance.

i'd take 1080p 60+fps over 4k 30 any day. my 1080p 144hz monitor and pc get me smooth 144fps 1080p gameplay with zero tearing. witcher 3 at 1080p on ultra settings at 70-100fps on pc still beats ps4 pro. pity witcher 3 is a pile of shit made for pretend gamers who cant play dark souls. 4k 30fps is still 30fps. 60fps is far more important than 4k hdr. god of war 3 still looks and plays amazing. this doesn't look like a god of war game...
It's kind of unfair to compare the base PS4 on a 1080p TV against the Pro on a 4K HDR one. The base console is capable of HDR too.

@Oscar Medina does changing the difficulty setting to easy reduce enemy count in god of war. Or is it that enemies can be killed without breaking a sweat like easy mode in any other game. I am asking this becuase my skills are barely passable in sword fighting games.

agree, u know i was never able to have a PS4, I sold my PS3 long time ago due to money issues, and never was able to play any PS4 game, now I'm much better and had the fortune to grab a PS5 just last week, first game I decided to play is GOW, and ohh man, on PS5 with 60 fps 4K is just insane, looks like a recently released game, I just cant believe how good it is.

Tried to grab an XBox again last year during the lockdowns, usually played on both consoles in the past, and everywhere was sold out. Finally found a Walmart with 1 PS4 Slim left. Played Spiderman and Ghost of Tsushima and the Tony Hawk 1 and 2 Remake on that, then managed to grab launch preorders for both the PS5 and Series X, which I never buy new consoles at launch. Although now I’ve also reserved a Steam Deck as well, so it is nice to be back into gaming again. Forgot how much I missed it. Basically had almost everything from last gen to catch up on all at once though, and it was kind of awesome. Not even just first party, but third party as well. I’ve played so many games this past 8 months and I’m actually doing a third playthrough of this game now. Ghost was awesome at 60. Days Gone was probably my favorite at 60, that game was a surprise given the reviews and is an awesome game. They really should upgrade a few more. Which I guess they are a bit. Looking forward to the Death Stranding PS5 Director’s Cut next month as well. Similarly, XBox’s fps boost has been awesome as well. It doesn’t take much for me. Give me 60 fps and I’m good to go.
@@ivanleon6164 congrats! You should definitely check out Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart if you haven't yet, it's absolutely gorgeous and super fun to play. The PS5 version of Horizon Forbidden West is also incredible and amazing to play at 60fps.
Also, if/when you decide to upgrade your SSD storage, I highly recommend the Samsung 980 Pro with pre-installed heatsink. I got the 1tb version and it works great, I now have over 30 games installed on my PS5 and I still have room for a few more

@@ivanleon6164 nice! I'm at the very end of Horizon and I was running around finishing side stuff before I beat the game and I've done pretty much everything now. But since they added new game plus I feel like I can finally complete the last mission.
Also, I highly recommend Control: Ultimate Edition. It has a 60fps mode and a Ray Tracing mode, but the 60fps is the much better option. It's a really fun third person shooter where you have a few different guns and get different powers, the main one that's a core part of the gameplay is telekinesis, where you can pick up and then launch tons of different objects at enemies to damage and kill them. You also end up getting the ability to levitate and move around for short periods of time, which is really great in combat since you can shoot and use your powers while you're floating in the air. It can also help you reach new areas. Anyways, it's a fun game and the shooting mechanics are really tight and solid, as are the powers, definitely worth checking out

Dude... THE GAME ITSELF is beautiful. Sure a PC can oompfh out more graphical fidelity with high end hardware, but it's still beautiful and an achievement on any platform. Even at "standard" HD this game is absolutely breathtaking.

I'm a bit late on this, just beat God of War last week (I've had it since launch).
The graphics are on another level. It really proves that graphics are far less about compute theoretical powers, and much more about developer skill, time and attention to detail.
Probably the best graphics on any game I've played all around factoring in artstyle.

Play Overwatch. It'll change your mind. The level of fluidity is necessary. Experiment more with 60fps, like in Nioh and The Last of Us Remastered. It's objectively better than 30fps. Is it so much better that it renders 30fps unplayable? No. I think that people are stupidly hard on 30fps, but pushing developers to aim for that 60fps is good, so, I try not to complain about that.
Equally stunning is how a $200 console manages to do all this. Very impressed.

shyh horng today standard 4k must have at least 8 teraflops to run fully native 4k in this modern games... So ps4 pro with 4.2 teraflops thats really good gpu power... And almost all developers studio are using console as there base hardware to do some new games... So it is not a surprising ... Gta 5 was made for the ps3 last gen, witcher 3 was made for the current gen console, watchdog 2 was made for the ps4 spec, and plenty more... All of this game can be port to pc at there full potential so pc version is always the definitive version of the game...

Who Dat Ninja - While it would be nice to have 60 FPS in large open world games the current hardware just can't do it. Even the Xbox One X has trouble with larger environments. At best they should have options like in GoW, high resolution mode for those who prefer their games look the best and a performance mode for those who prefer framerates greater then 30fps.

There really is a big difference between native and checkerboard 4k. You just have to own a 4k display to actually see it.
Arbiter the only big difference is the texture quality, but the cheakerboard does not have 4k texture quality, but both versions is using native 2160p pixel count the difference is checkerboard 4k is half the pixel on a box, but the pixel counts is legit, that is closer to real 4k according to digitalfoundry... You need to zoom it which one is the real 4k if you can spot the artifacts it means the resolution is checkerboard...

Tyler Holt Sony's first party studios are always going to have the most cutting edge technology and knowledge of hardware though. Most developers will never keep up with the technical prowess of studios like SSM, Guerilla and Naughty Dog, nor should they be expected to.
Let's keep pushing for better technology and hardware IMO. I want to behold the glory of Horizon 2 and the God of War sequel running on a beastly PS5.

People say that PS5 is gonna stay behind because of Xbox small power advance, boy, look at what they could achieve with the PS4, I completely trust Sony game studios to show what they can do with even more power, is about the ambition of the developers and how they extract every drop of juice from a console
Performance honestly only really becomes a problem with third party titles, both consoles can't play the same exclusives so can never be compared. No denying that currently the xbox one x is just the better console in terms of performance in majority of games, but there's too many great games you'd miss without having a PS4. I see it being a similar scenario next gen also but the PS5s SSD could well close the gap in performance between the consoles anyway, really interested to see what developers can do with that insane speed (looking to be 2x faster than series x for reference)
I think you should get it for the games which sometimes may depend on graphics, but that’s when I would use my PC since I use the Switch.
@@David-bj8ri the difference in gpu power is so small on paper that you can almost say the real world performance will be exactly the same. Not to mention the GPU PS5 has is clocked much, much higher. That means rasterization speed goes up. Most likely games will be 1440p 60 fps with raytracing and 4k 30 fps with raytracing. I say this since Demon Souls was 1440p 60 fps with raytracing and Halo Infinite was 4k 60 fps no raytracing.

@@josuem7398 The gpu power is actually quite large. The og xbox was less than a tflop weaker yet it was struggling and dropping down to 900p and 720p while the ps4 was at 1080p. The xbox series x uses rdna 2 while ps5 doesn't, has a overall more powerful gpu(The high clock speed of the ps5 to make up for lower cu count could hurt it's cooling as it's been documented to run hotter than the series x not to mention the 10 tflop reading is based on it's boost clock and will more likely sit around 9.5 tflops) and the x has a higher clocked cpu over the ps5. The ps5 will have plenty of power to make beautiful looking games but after 7-8 years I can see a decent gap forming especially in third party games.

A super high quality AAA singleplayer game that is given time in the oven with zero microtransactions, while Microsoft makes fairly frequent sequels to the same franchise with microtransactions thrown in. Microsoft needs a Guerrila, Santa Monica, or Naughty Dog equivalent.
Fun fact kinda even though santa monica were given six years the this version only started development 2 years later (meaning they only had 4 years to complete this masterpiece)

@@simlife445 not everyone enjoys fast 60 fps gameplay, 30 fps with beautiful visuals is better enjoyed on a game like this. 60 fps is better for multiplayers and racing games, and there are people out there that only buy games for the single-player story mode. If the developers added multiplayer to God Of War, the single player could have suffered in some way (poor graphics or a shorter campaign), so people are happy games like this get released without multiplayer content - the focus is on the story, and at 20+ hours in length, it's up there with the best of the best. Look at the Call of Duty franchise, the campaigns are 5-6 hours long, those games are terrible for single player, but great for multiplayer

I don't even notice much of any "jutter" in performance mode. It's very playable
Because you are not sensitive on frame pacing thats why digital foundry said its depends on the user.. Some of the gamers are sensitive enough from frame pacing... Performance mode on god of war they use uncapped frame rate so expect up and down frame measure all the time.. When i switch to performance mode i can already feel right away the unstable frame rate ... For me god of war at 30fps is much better because it is very stable.. Rather than performance mode at 45 to 50s frames per second going up and down... For me 120fps unstable frame pacing is.much better because in my eyes i cant tell the difference between 90s fps to 120fps unstable..

Sony's developers are by far the most talented in the business. Their attention to detail is astounding! I wish they could develop games for the Switch. They would even beat out Panic Button! I have a PS4 Pro and a Switch and couldnt be happier!

It's also the way it's implemented that makes a load of difference. As DF pointed out, Santa Monica does it so expertly in GOW, its use of checker boarding even surpasses Horizon's (the previous best known implementation) in total sharpness.
It's just a little bit more blurry / softer, but other than that pristine.
Yeah some people are more susceptible than others, I can see the difference but not after some time to check for key points( 20-25mins ).
Jonathan Moore a big difference is noticeable when the game is in motion. Then you see the artifacts at the checkerboard feautered game. I think the checkerboard technique is great, it delivers a great sharpness for much less processing power.

Agreed. When I think back to the likes of Space Invaders and Asteroids they were for their time cutting edge. I can only dream of what tomorrow will bring with regards to video games and my only regret is that I will never get to enjoy 3D or virtual reality gaming/movies.

This is just fucking incredible, seriously God Of War on a $400 PS4 Pro produces better visuals then any PC game i've ever played... , even being 30 FPS they made the game feel very smooth, this game is a damn MASTERPIECE , and deserves every 10/10 rating it gets

I sold my base PS4 after beating this game to get a new GPU and 4k monitor since the used market is super cheap right now. I agree though, this game was a masterpiece. I might get a PRO later though since I can utilize the resolution upgrade now. The upgrade just made more sense to me for pc since I already had a pc, and the 1070ti was 290 and a sceptre 4k monitor was 200(500). As opposed to to paying 400(600 with monitor) for the pro which would've costed more for less performance. Also on the used market, I can't find them for less than 340 unless it's defective. So if you guys see anything let me know lol.

HDR makes a huge difference in this game. The HDMI ports went out on my TV and I switched to a different port that didn't support HDR and the game look really different. Lucky I did a factory reset on my TV and the ports were usable again.

What is Microsoft doing? I'm not being a fanboy, but seriously.......... Releasing Sea Of Thieves for 60$, Cancelling Scalebound, and it doesn't help that Crackdown III is not looking so good. I'm no fanboy, but Sony is killing it. Also doesn't help that Nintendo is coming up fast with their line-up. Other than the X or personal reasons, I can't imagine anyone wanting an Xbox at this point in time. Really hope they can pull it together, because it is not looking good for them.
Triss Merigold I would make an argument like many play Xbox for racing and considering Forza 7 looks better and plays better than any other driving game out there. So that’s one exclusive that wins it for Xbox. Other than that we are kinda lagging behind yes, especially since the fall of halo. But hey Microsoft may surprise everyone. Also sea of thieves is free with our game pass, which is pretty cheap. So actually a hell of a lot of people have bought it for free so it is once of Microsoft’s best exclusives at the moment - honestly they made a hell of a lot of money out of it, as PC players spent a ton of money on sea of thieves also. Lastly I kinda get frustrated with why Xbox and PlayStation is compared? PlayStation are clearly the better console market, seeing as they have been around FOR LONGER. Why does everyone expect Microsoft’s Xbox franchise to blow Nintendo and Sony out of the water? It’s never gonna happen. Microsoft can’t compete with Sony, because Sony have the reputation to earn a lot of these franchises, so tbh Microsoft have a huge disadvantage here. Last point I wanna make however is that we are winning the hardware war and the Xbox one x has out sold the ps4 pro massively - personally I play things like Witcher 3 and overwatch etc - all of which play better and look so much better on the xbox one x right now. So for people who don’t have the money for a gaming pc, the Xbox one x is best right now and I would say our community is far less toxic. However, for quality games every month or so and really amazing exclusives like God of war, PlayStation is the way to go. Lol I have an Xbox one x and a PlayStation 2. Besides I hate to say it, no matter how well PlayStation and Nintendo do, Xbox will our do them and be best eventually. The reality is Microsoft have too much money compared to them both and will just keep investing into Xbox until it our lives all competition. - a bit disappointing tbh but that’s Microsoft for you (money, money money...)

It looks mind blowing in 4k hdr. Even full HD on pro and base look amazing. The lighting, the sharpness and overall the Art make it look next gen. And audio is superb aswell. There are many encounters and levels where is smply unreal good looking. Colours and specially effects and lighting is on its own level

To be honest, pushing 60+fps checkerboarding is the way to go in the future, the increased sample count (due the increased fps) will allow for great 4K image quality while freeing up rendering times for other advanced rendering techniques. Once we add proper physics-based rendering, real-time ray tracing games will be projected extremely realistically (even if they are cartoonish or fantasy). However, the rendering performance required for these tasks are really high and checkerboarding will drastically help mitigate this issue. Superior graphical fidelity is the future, not "native 4K"... The increased image quality benefit is definitely not worth the massive loss in rendering times.
Sorry guys, Native 4K is only a sales pitch for XOX and console wars, but looking at this objectively as a developer, native super high resolutions isn't preferable to what we could do with games if we have increased rendering performance.
