Why is everybody demoing digital delays with only clean undistorded tone. Van Halen, Jimmy Page and much more were using tape echo with pretty saturated tone. Everyone talks about how close these delay pedals reproduce the tape echo and no one shows how it sounds with heavy saturated marshall plexi tone... Weird !!!
The reviewers style/ability sort of pigeon holes this unit into the infinite ambient space environment, but, I look at it as kind of swiss army knife type thing - if its echo related, this thing can do it. To upgrade from a Timeline, or, similar quality/functioning unit may not get much, but, anyone going from a further back platform may like it.
If you are not performing on stage, why don’t you make it easier on yourself and place the pedal on a little table or chair? That way you don’t have to do a full body bend to turn the knobs. I always find bending over with a guitar in my lap is really uncomfortable. Just a thought. Nice job with the demo!
I didn't understand the loop very well. After ou record and start to play it, everything you played was still being added to the loop. Is that right? What if I want to record a chord progression and solo over it?
You’d be better suited patching your guitar into a modular, and you’d be able to do more musical things like use the synth for fills and lfo filters and do stereo things
Sorry man but I'm just not feeling it. I really dig reverb and delay, but I think this pedal is almost getting away from guitar territory and into sounds that might be better controlled through keys. They're some cool sounds but I just can't see the practicality of it for anything beyond the genre of music that being demoed here. Now that the "boutique" pedal craze of the last ten years seems to be cooling since manufacturers made practically every flavor of pedal possible, they're pushing these multi effects pedals. It's like fashion - "What's Old is New Again."
Strymon has cornered the market for worship and CCM guitarists. It's pretty much expected for a guitar to also cover pad territory these days in that genre.
but can he do it like John Martyn and if no what's the point getting lost in a pointless over layered drone. everyone of these strymon adverts just doing the same crap jam shit to some degree. just plug in and lose the point or reason for the tool are they scared of a take down by emulating Johns layered sound or something? not everyone wan'tt't't't't'ts to copy slavishly but some need to know the why's and how's for a not cheap gadget purchase. the anti hindrance factor. the do this John Martyn solid air delay's v the do that's Pink Floyd shine on's. by the time i make up my mind strymon will have a new thingy, a new must have?. so why even bother with new just wait for the first lotters to off load their lost interest in gear a year or so from now. I got a strymon Flint like that. only good for one thing at the moment but it's really good. use it to get that Ry Cooder swamp sound for the slide guitar do da then my looper is ok got a reverse loop function only good for a Bowie tune i do now and then none of these advertisements for this volonte strike a chord with me at the moment what would it be use full for that i can already get from my other gear
I keep asking myself that. Would really love a good comparison between the two. This does so much more, but seeing as there's major price point differences and size/board real-estate, a comparison would be cool, see what would be better for some people.
Straight from Strymon, “ Volante is basically a El Capistan on steroids.” They said it does not do the same or as much as a Timeline. I have watched every video Strymon has done on the Volante, at least 3 times.
Read the review: bit.ly/StrymonVolantePG
If the first thing i hear on the video is Slowdive, i click like

WJ Cutright hey bud elaborate? I was thinking of going from timeline to volante because it sounds more 3 dimensional. But I haven’t tried it. Thanks

I think I would only need this pedal if I was making a movie soundtrack for the next Alien flick.

Great unit, but I still prefer Catalinbread Echorec. Less functions but better sound!
It ships broken?! That sucks.
I love delays but I don't see myself replacing my Deluxe Memory Boy and DD-7 anytime soon. Between the two I cover any sound I need.
He’s having so much fun with this thing he forgot to comb his hair.

It’s a tape echo delay dude. They did this back in the 60’s with guitar. You can get a lot of different sounds from this thing.
How much does this cost, 2 thousand? Strymon are way overpriced
I always get bummed when I realize it's not John but this hipster doing the first look.
Reverse for me.

Meh
Um, you need to turn down excessive compression on your voice, or do less lip smacking, it's really distracting and I feel like imat a gay club
Floodgate Studios shut your butt!
