    I can't get a bad sound out of my Boonar. It is a magic pedal. It adds so much depth and almost a 3d effect. I pretty much leave speed at 2 o'clock and use the buttons to get the delay I need or pop the swell for an awesome reverb-ish wash. And the eye👁️, oh man.

    Regarding the Boonar being in mono …… if fed into say, an analog chorus pedal with twin outs and the chorus turned way down, there is enough movement in the air to suggest stereo, albeit in ambient form. One can get tired of ping pong delay very quickly, and the beauty of delay is not really knowing where the echos are coming from. Oh, and btw, I have three stereo and four mono delay pedals, and would gladly trade them in for the Boonar - such a lovely sound.

    Years ago I had a Binson, Dynacord, , Meazzi - you name it . . . . I've just bought the Volante after trying several others including Boonar,, Boss DD-500 and Volante is real old school and sonically superior. I have several machines including Klemt Echolette, Hall & Collins, Blue Nebula , Catalinbread Echorec, tried them all. The Strymon has something that the Klemt has and I can hear it but can't describe what it is. The bottom line is that it doesn't break the bank for what it adds to my kit, so it's cool. What needs to be understood is that all the old machines had their own 'echo tone' and they varied a lot. Much of it is down to preference.

    I listened through my Yamaha HS-5s, then did a blind listen through my Beyerdynamic DT 250s. I prefer the Boonar. At least for my ears, the addition of "spring" reverb is the only thing the Volante has going for it over the Boonar.

    Hi and thanks for another great review. This one I have to say didn't really understand that's because I'm a Dummy. But you mentioned the Boonar is strictly Echorec while the Strymon is an Echorec plus? Trying to figure these things out because I do really do need a killer bee delay.

    • @TriPedalReviews
      @TriPedalReviews  5 лет назад +4

      You got the general gist! The Volante design was to try and encompass what was cool about multi head delays. This could be a tape echo (such as the echoplex or space echo, or studio tape) or a spinning drum echo (such as the echorec) All of these things are pretty iconic sounds from the past. The Boonar only mimics the Echorec. So this demo only focused on the "drum" mode, but each mode in Volante has different modulation depending on what it's emulating. I did a 2 part demo of the Volante and went over all modes in those, so check them out if interested. Those 2 demos also go into much more detail of the Volante. Things I didn't cover as well here since I was only focusing on the features that the Boonar had in common.

    The Boonar is absolutely amazing but it’s not as versatile as the Volante. The Volante is pretty much a Binson echorec and a DL4 in one unit. It sounds crisper, you can set the repeats at different outputs, Also has a spring Reverb , you can loop and also do reverse delay. Also has a midi clock which useful for using synths or drum machines

    Put on good monitor headphones. The Strymon is on a whole higher level of Sonic Fidelity. Unless it's down to a size thing, the Volante is clearly the top pedal for Echorec and it also does Space Echo. Best delay pedal in a long time. This and Deco are so spot on for an Echorec and tape decks it's truly stunning. Strymon make the best FX Pedals especially Delay, Reverb and modulation. The sonic fidelity is unreal.

      For the Echorec sound, Boonar has it and character.
