    Great video. I just upgraded my X240 to a 1Tb SDD and 8Gb RAM thanks to the explanations of this video. I cloned my Ubuntu system from one disk to another with a Inateck Dual Bay Hard Drive Docking Station, and all is working perfectly. Many thanks.

      I am planning to do the same for my x240. Was there a massive change in speed after upgrading from 4gb ram and replacing hdd with sdd 1tb ??

    • @fjmmc9907
      @fjmmc9907 3 года назад

      @@nazmiaksu6835 I can't answer this as I upgraded it almost by the time I get it. It is a used laptop bought on eBay. But I use it for development and have no problem with slowness, let alone getting too hot. A 1TB drive is essential for big data, and memory helps prevent it from getting stuck when multiple IDEs are open. Go ahead, I recommend.

      @@nazmiaksu6835Upgrading RAM from 4GB to 8GB won't be noticeable immediately until you run multiple applications at a time. But I can tell you from my experience of changing from HDD to SSD on a Dell Precision M6500 laptop, it is incredibly fast right from booting windows. You just fly through the windows booting, login page and the desktop ready in a few seconds.
      A week back I bought a used ThinkPad X240. Though it is a later product than my Dell Precision M6500, I feel it is slower because it has HDD. I am planning to change to SSD, so watched this video before purchasing just to know if it is doable myself. SSD > HDD always 🙂

    Thanks for the informative video! Looks straight forward enough but not like the glory days of the Thinkpad where there as just a cover with two screws. You just took off the cover pulled out the RAM and HD and shoved new ones in. Done.

    • @FreeOfFantasy
      @FreeOfFantasy 6 лет назад

      yes that was great. Nowadays a notebook has to be flater what leads to this kind of changes as well es the battery to sick out more. total height of my x220 and x240 are about the same, on the x240 the battery is just sticking out more.

    why have to unplug the cable out of the motherboard?? please remain the cable, just unplug the HDD or SSD then replace a new one to this position ....

    • @LenovoSupport
      @LenovoSupport  8 лет назад +36

      +Vu Danh Thang You don't have to unplug the cable from the system board. The cable is shown being disconnected for anyone who needs to replace the cable itself. I think I see your point though, perhaps there should be separate videos to avoid any confusion.

      @LenovoSupport I only bought it a few months ago and on the first few boots, the fan grinded than turned off. When I turn it on, I get a fan error. I haven't used it since and I have never done a cooling swap before.

      Hey there, AutisticCuber! We suggest bringing the Lenovo unit to a service provider lnv.gy/45uQkmO (choose the country and complete all the information in the field) and inquire for a complete diagnosis/service option. Alternatively, you can contact the Lenovo support and inquire for a warranty service claim. You can go to the Lenovo support page lnv.gy/45uPeaC, enter the serial number of the Lenovo device and click the Contact Us tab, then select your preferred option. You can also submit a eService ticket from the Lenovo Support page. Let us know if you have any other concern. -Chris_Lenovo
