Nice work! I need to do that with a T60p donor set. It had signs of burning the GPU in a saw mill location. For me it was a T7600 cpu and a screen for another.
X240 lenovo Win 8 ..I shorted the bios with the wrong pins ... now my laptop wont power on .. can I swap the i5 motherboard with an i7, and load Win 10 ..? thanks . BTW there are some used i5 motherboards out there with locked bios .. which is the problem I had in the first place by trying to unlock the bios. Thanks

If I want music, I'll use pandora, not view tech videos. It's my opinion, and I thought, perhaps, you'd take it as constructive, perhaps I could have phrased it better though.
No point in putting paste on the 2nd chip, it's the chipset and that makes basically no heat and putting paste on it might actually cause it to get even hotter.
What second chip? You mean the fan/heatsink/pipe aren't attached to the cpu itself? I was surprised he didn't clean and replace the paste, very needed for correct heat transfer between chip and heatsink.
I love my Thinkpad X260, the 4G modem and dual batteries makes it a pretty amazing portable.

Why do you always set booting to UEFI only?
Good question. No advantage unless you're using bitlocker or have a > 2.2 Terabyte boot disk. Just makes things harder to fix later.

@@googleplusisdead The CPU package has 2 chips, the bigger one is the CPU itself and the smaller one is the chipset or PCH as Intel calls it.
You didn’t watch the video then. I replaced the paste. And if it’s not necessary to be cooled, why would they put the heat sink over it then?
