My oldest brother's friend let us borrow it around 1988. I got so into it, I believe as a 8 year old I was able to understand the exploration a bit better due to Kid Icarus since I played that one before Metroid.
Super Metroid sets up that “dreadful” feeling the best. Zero Mission invokes the most nostalgia-like feelings. Prime 2’s title screen just straight up bangs and imo has the “coolest” presentation.
I simply can't pick a favorite, but Metroid 2's title really gets me. It starts off mysterious and almost off putting with these distant screams instead of a melody for a while, then this subtle and calm melody hits you which makes you feel kind of emotional about the important mission that Samus is going to do. Then finally, this intense track hits you that makes you feel both encouraged and uneasy, but also makes you realize that the job is to kill every single mission. You are here on a very dangerous mission to do a massacre. The mixture of positive and negative feelings at the same time makes it such a great setup for the game (which is also pretty underrated I must say).
I think my favorite has to be between Prime 2 and Prime 3. NEStroid is also beautiful, that's where it all started. love them all. My interpretation of all themes: NES Metroid: Intimidating and overwhelming, yet hopeful. Metroid II: Creepy, weird, fear of the unknown. A very important, yet dangerous mission ahead. Super Metroid: Foreboding, intense, impactful. Immediately sets the tone. Prime: Twisted, organic, cautious, mysterious. Represents the dangers of space. Fusion: Tense, suspenseful, scary. This is where metroid really embraces a little bit of those horror elements with the music. Zero Mission: Nostalgic, glorious, uplifting first and then the intimidation afterwards. Reverse of what NEStroid did. Prime 2: Serious, grounded, setting up the challenge. Neither intimidating nor hopeful, just a ''get ready, shit is about to get serious''. Prime Hunters: To the point, creepy, danger approaching. Prime 3: Finality, closure, bombastic, choir resembles the end of the trilogy. ''This is it'', it's now or never. Prime Trilogy: A celebration, a homage, a tribute. Very impactful and determined. Other M: Represents the emptyness of space. Very subtle and lonesome. Federation Force: Don't know what to make of this one, sounds like music that would play for a batman animated series intro. lol Samus Returns: Fear of the unknown yet again, just like the original. Now it has a transition with subtlety, followed by grandeur. Represents the baby and the severity of the mission. Dread: No more playing around, legitimately worrysome, either we fulfill the mission or the universe perishes. grade A level threat.
Thank you for this upload lol, love this series so much. Enjoying Dread hella lot. Making me remember the good old days on Fusion and Zero Mission. I suck at the originals 🤣🤣🤣
It's impressive how Metroid Prime 4 was revealed as in-development almost 6 years ago. While the ENTIRE Metroid Prime 1-3 were developed and released in a span of less than 6 years.
My favorite openings are the Prime trilogy. Not only was Prime my first Metroid game, the title screen opening are so cinematic and the music captures the tone of the game. The music alone made appreciate music scores in general.
For me fusion will always be the most impactful. It was my first game in the series. But aside from that it was so intriguing, the atmosphere was mysterious and eerie. And seeing Samus' ship explode was so unexpected!
Super Metroid's is so fucking good at setting the mood of that particular game! You know what you're getting into.. However, my favourite is definitely Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. At the time of release, it was stated to be the end of a trilogy of games I'd followed since I was a lot younger, so hearing that title theme gave me chills. it's so fucking epic and I just LOVE it. Even replaying it recently, I still got chills hearing that theme again. So fucking epic. And man, they REALLY put the Dread in the Metroid Dread title rendition. It's so POWERFUL and takes a note out of the Prime Trilogy's book with some of its background ambiance. really helps to set the tone of the game, maybe even better than Fusion did (and that game also did a really good job!) I also actually really like the Other M theme too, as much as I didn't like the story much, I do like how the theme hints at a more personal/intimate adventure with the soft piano rendition of the theme; I think it fits that game well!
As much as I love Fusion, Zero Mission, Samus Returns, and Dread, Super Metroid remains the magnum opus for me, and my absolute favorite in the series. Call me biased, I was 10 when Super Metroid first came out and was practically raised on it. But I still look to Super Metroid as the definitive game in the series. And I love the music in Super Metroid the most.
The Prime Trilogy is the main reason I wish I still had my Wii U. Best damn deal ever. I sure hope it makes its way to the Switch. Edit: Wow, can we talk about the classic Metroid II sound they used in the Samus Returns intro music? That nostalgia polish... 😍
i still own the console and i wont stop using it until nintendo makes a good gamecube and gameboy advance support wii u is really the best u can do anything with if u play with the homebrew stuff
What a short and succinct theme for a video game series. Kinda crazy to think it was written in the 80's and is still being used for the games to this very day. My top 2 are Dread and Super metroid, its really difficult to decide between them because to me they conveying different feelings. Dreads sounds more daunting with the banging percussion..like this is going to be samus' toughest mission yet. While Super M sounds more mysterious and alive with the kindof crashing or breathing sound in the background. Theyre both good at what they're intended, id say Super metroid comes across a far more unnerving.
I would actually it's title screen is one of the weakest in the serie. The soundtrack overall is one of the best tho. My favorite title theme is Echoes.
Metroid II Theme: Oh you thought I was done huh

Prime 2: Serious, grounded, setting up the challenge. Neither intimidating nor hopeful, just a ''get ready, shit is about to get serious''.
Prime Hunters: To the point, creepy, danger approaching.
Prime 3: Finality, closure, bombastic, choir resembles the end of the trilogy. ''This is it'', it's now or never.
Prime Trilogy: A celebration, a homage, a tribute. Very impactful and determined.
Other M: Represents the emptyness of space. Very subtle and lonesome.
Federation Force: Don't know what to make of this one, sounds like music that would play for a batman animated series intro. lol
Samus Returns: Fear of the unknown yet again, just like the original. Now it has a transition with subtlety, followed by grandeur. Represents the baby and the severity of the mission.
Dread: No more playing around, legitimately worrysome, either we fulfill the mission or the universe perishes. grade A level threat.
i think i speak for everyone when i say that i almost cried on the dread start screen
man... zero mission just hits different
Thank you for this upload lol, love this series so much. Enjoying Dread hella lot. Making me remember the good old days on Fusion and Zero Mission. I suck at the originals 🤣🤣🤣
I underestimated the Metroid 2 theme, I thought it was that obnoxious note the whole time, my impatient ass
The Into music for Prime on GC is definitely my favorite of the bunch
same
Metroid Prime is the best game of all time before Zelda OoT for me.
Super metroid for me
I loved the super metroid theme still give me goosebumps when I hear it even now. It was my all time favourite game and introduction to the series
6:20, la perfección, una canción que da igual las veces que la escuche, saca lo más profundo de mi.
It's impressive how Metroid Prime 4 was revealed as in-development almost 6 years ago.
While the ENTIRE Metroid Prime 1-3 were developed and released in a span of less than 6 years.
Prime Trilogy has the best animation.
Echoes has the best "Title introduction".
But Prime has the best INTRO overall.
I love all the title screens! they totally fit their respective games!
But dang the Prime ones are my favs haha!
MP2 isn't my favorite Metroid game, but that intro is my favorite intro for anything, ever.
The jump from metroid 2 to super metroid is crazy 😮 then we had to wait 8 years and we get to Prime and we’re like 🤯🤯🤯
I like the theme of metroid fusion the most
cannot believe how hard metroid ii return of samus title screen goes, unbelievably hard tune right there
Yeah the remake music was pretty disappointing in comparison.
My favorite openings are the Prime trilogy. Not only was Prime my first Metroid game, the title screen opening are so cinematic and the music captures the tone of the game. The music alone made appreciate music scores in general.
The second song Return of Samus almost got me turned deaf. 🤣 And almost destroy my headphones As well... Thanks for such a great compilation...
Metroid Dread is just straight up horror music
Samus Returns and Super Metroid tie for me at the top. Runner up has to be Prime Trilogy.
Prime 1 and 2 are such great games. I hope 4 lives up to the legacy and surpasses expectations.
I hope nintendo releases a prime trilogy for switch, cuz I've never played prime 3 and I really wanna.
I’d disagree with 2, but yes, 4 has some massive shoes to fill from 1 and 3
@@theplinko9840 2's my favorite prime. I liked the dark atmosphere.
For me fusion will always be the most impactful. It was my first game in the series. But aside from that it was so intriguing, the atmosphere was mysterious and eerie. And seeing Samus' ship explode was so unexpected!
Dang Other M’s theme is actually sick
It gets better if you unlock *alternate theme* . 😔👌
Metroid samus returns had me shaking in my custom baby seal leather boots the first time I booted it up
The dread theme is literally the original but it is modernized and the positive part is gone.
Fusion basically aswell, and super.
Basically every theme is a remix of the first one. Aside from Federation Force and II
Prime Trilogy theme is a fucking MEDLEY.
The Metroid Prime intro said fuck it were creating a different bridge.
Wish Nintendo had a simple text saying "Nintendo proudly presents, in collaboration with Mercury Steam: Metroid 5." 😁
My favorites are between prime 1 or 2, but I love the music in that prime trilogy title screen tho, my god, it's so good.
Prime 1’s file select is one of the best songs ever
Prime 2 gives me instant chills
The title screen from Super Metroid is still unbeaten.
Immediately gives absolute Dread!
oooh reference
I love Metroid Prime Trilogy's theme with that deep buildup and epic march when the title shows up
As much as I love Fusion, Zero Mission, Samus Returns, and Dread, Super Metroid remains the magnum opus for me, and my absolute favorite in the series. Call me biased, I was 10 when Super Metroid first came out and was practically raised on it. But I still look to Super Metroid as the definitive game in the series. And I love the music in Super Metroid the most.
Damn metroid prime's theme is amazing!
The Prime Trilogy is the main reason I wish I still had my Wii U. Best damn deal ever. I sure hope it makes its way to the Switch.
Edit: Wow, can we talk about the classic Metroid II sound they used in the Samus Returns intro music? That nostalgia polish... 😍
i still own the console and i wont stop using it until nintendo makes a good gamecube and gameboy advance support wii u is really the best u can do anything with if u play with the homebrew stuff
yeah the music is really nice
Metroid Fusion is the best so far & also when you start the game from a check point those samples sounds just beatifull 🤩 DU du Du do do...
It's between Fusion's theme and Dread for me
The primes games had no right to slap that hard
Personally the Metroid Prime 2 theme is my favorite
Metroid Prime 3 title music SLAPS!
Super Metroid has the greatest theme of ALL Metroid games.
I would actually it's title screen is one of the weakest in the serie. The soundtrack overall is one of the best tho. My favorite title theme is Echoes.
Thats a weird way of spelling echoes.
Weird way of spelling Zero Mission.
Weird way of spelling Prime.
No. Zero mission dread and the prime games are better. Even metroid 2
