In my opinion, Mother Brain has the honor of being the scariest thing to ever appear in the Metroid series.
I was a young girl when I first played this game, loved it, but DAMN the ending scared me deeply. The music was incredible, and something about Mother Brain's cyborg mechsuit at the end creeped me out to where I genuinely had nightmares. (I think I was like 8 or something?)
Had to keep reminding myself that not only was the horrific and evil Metroid capable of love and redemption, the Baby always gifted me with Mother Brain's overpowered death laser upgrade every time, too.
Very little to be afraid of when it's either vaporized or splattered on the wall. But in all seriousness, this game is a *MASTERPIECE* of storytelling, presentation, music, graphics..... on the f'n 16bit SNES. Link to the Past will always be my favourite game from this era, but a paramecium could starve on the margin left between them.

Honestly I am surprised in how they designed the sound effects of the metroid. From a menacing alien parasite to a baby worrying for its mother and the sound of suffering when dying. All with a 16bit system

1:45 I like how mother brain is puking blood when she is shrieking. Shows that she has already taken lots of damage from Samus missiles. After the metroid drains her, she is bleeding constantly. She is probably already dying at that point, but she tries to take Samus with her.
I think that's supposed to be more like saliva or something? I wouldn't be surprised if it was blood, but it might have been more immediately apparent elsewhere too?

But for real though, nice duel and escape. One of my favorite final boss battles and escape endings in any video game.
Most hype beatdown in the history of gaming
and the most glaring thing is the fact that samus NEVER stood a chance against MB. Without the help from baby, she wouldve died in that room. Even with the hyper-beam, it takes quite a lot of hits to put her down.
I love how after acquiring the Hyper Beam, Mother Brains movements become more quick and sporadic, showing shes rightfully shaking in her fuckin boots.

At 2:59. Geez. I will always remember the first time I ever played this scene and how astounded I was when all of a sudden, this alien blasts you up against the wall and your character is totally helpless, actually being driven UP the wall by the intense energy beam, while watching my health go down rapidly . She did it, not once, but three times, because I had *that* much health left. This was an absolutely incredible game for its time. It was like playing through an actual Sci-Fi movie. The graphics, backgrounds and music were that perfect. I loved this game.
I actually recorded my gameplay on the VCR so I could watch it again and again, way before the days of the internet and RUclips. The game was *that* absorbing.
My personal favorite end boss on the Super Nintendo, and that ending is amazing. Cheers!

Super metroid is clearly one of my Favorite games. This ending was so Epic, I loved Also the escape part, was truly exciting. I loved this Game from start to finish

They die anyway? I'm not sure how you think they'd survive by leaving their room. The entire plant explodes, they can't hide.
@@awesomecake_abc2748 If you save them, right as the planet explodes, and Samus's ship takes off to the left, you see a little ball of light take off to the right, the animals had their own spacecraft and escape as well.

If there's one game I wish I could erase my memories of just so I could experience it again for the first time, it's this one. When Mother Brain stood up and that epic music starts playing.... Goosebumps.

I’ll be honest, Mother Brain’s screams from getting hit with the final beam makes me feel a little sorry for her.
She lived a broken life, but she did want galactic conquest, so I got over it lol
