That's 2 seconds more gameplay than most current game commercials show. Nowadays they show no actual gameplay and "cutscene, cutscene, cutscene!"
So Metroid 2 literally spoiled the final boss of the game in the commercial. Nice.
Well, the japanese trailer for zero mission spoiled the pirate mothership plot twist.
Samus-x is also spoiled in the Fusion trailer

+blur772 SA-X is an extremely early encounter in Fusion, and a primary threat throughout the whole game. It's not like the Queen Metroid which only appears at the very end. It'd be more like if they showed the Omega Metroid or the final form of the SA-X in the Fusion commercial.

I'm surprised at how few people are talking about how good the commercial for Fusion was. It had some nice effects and the way it delivered the message of horror with the S-AX was cool.
The contrast with the corny SM trailer makes it even better, lol.

Fusion Was my first Metroid. I chose an Amazing and the best 2d (other than SM) Metroid.

Is nobody going to mention how well crafted Metroid Prime's commercial was? The integration of the first person and live action scenes was just so seamless. Makes me wish there was Metroid short film or something

Saying that you're fighting evil was tacky. You're mostly fighting inhabitants of Tallon IV's nature as an unwelcome intruder, not evil. I get it if they were implying space pirates, but I have a feeling they weren't.

It's not really worth it. The buggy and uninteresting gameplay wishes it was as good as the commercial. And that's coming from someone who has beaten the game several times.
How did you beat it several times? I know many who have been broken with just one!
Eh, after the first playthrough you learn how to avoid all of the fucking bullshit the game throws at you and you can better enjoy what the game was trying to do. That said I save it for some very rainy days.
I don't know mate, but I actually enjoyed a lot Other M, even with all it's flaws, the gameplay is quite thirlling and fast. It is fun... but in the end is a mediocre metroid game at best... I suppose you'll have to make your own mind about it.

Its game aside, the commercial for Other M is for sure a favorite of mine. Good live action and CG shots with an even amount of gameplay too.
Other M's commercial sorta reminds me of Halo Reach's and more recently Halo Wars 2's commercials... It also reminds me of some others but I can't put my finger on them.

While I had played the original Metroid on an old NES, I was far too young to properly appreciate and enjoy it. Other M's commercial was my first real exposure to the Metroid series. Now Metroid is one of my favorite game franchises of all time.
Apparently I'm still the only one who thinks there's nothing wrong with Other M.
i'm with you. I got bored and kind angry with the Father-Daughter stuff, but the game played flawlessly. I think people just didn't like the battle focused and less exploration-oriented gameplay

You clearly see the difference between Team Ninja and Retro by playing their games.
Team Ninja should've never made a Metroid title it simply doesn't fit.
For me the Gameplay was bland, the controls horrible designed, the story a mess (I hate those kind of bad plot twists like in Xenoblade X), the leveldesign was boring, the characters were poorly written (yeah I'm one of those who doesn't like Samus refusing to activate the varia suit while burning to death or being paralyzed by an enemy she fought before) and so on.
The only things I liked were the artstyle, the suit design and the finishing animations - quite glad they return.
Lmao the trailer for Other M makes the game look so much more epic then it really is.

That Metroid Prime commercial is legendary...Fun Fact: it was a the initial proof of concept for a live action Metroid movie. There was even a script floating around during the early and mid 2000's but it could never get out of the pre production phase

I didn't like it. The CGI seemed off somehow and the pretentious narration combined with an oversexualized, short-statured Samus ruined it for me.
That's about where the Federation Force commercial starts. So I think you lucked out.

Other M is decent gameplay wise, it's a little hampered by it's linear design & restricted first-person mode but besides that it's pretty fun. Story is garbage though.

I think the Fusion commercial is one of Nintendo's most underrated bits of marketing ever. It looked like something right out of the movies of that era.
Honestly, I wish Nintendo did more live action commercials like this nowadays, and not just commercials of people playing their games.

You can really tell which decade you were in as you watch each commercial. From the "Whoa dude!" 80s commercials, that irreverent 90s humor, the gritty 2000s, the "Wii would like to play" era circa 2005, all the way to the overly cinematic 2010s. You can almost make out what movies had released at the time.
"You remember how the people liked how dark and mysterious Metroid games always were? How they produced feelings of isolation, the music was dark, epic and sometimes pretty eery? You know what would safe the series? CHIBI-LOOK!" -whoever was responsible for the clusterfuck that calls itself Federation Force

All of these are awesome, it really illustrates how much Metroid meant to the company, and Nintendo fans at NOA. I liked Other M when it came out I only played it once and finished the extra mission. Years later I have no desire to come back to it but it was interesting for what Team Ninja built despite not living up to potential.
Metroid prime 2 was the Metroid I always wanted to play. It looked beautiful

The Metroid Prime commercial is the best one hands down.

The very end of that OG Metroid Prime commercial still gives me goosebumps with those trailing notes... It's just so good. Never again will we get another Metroid commercial like that, where the live action is spliced in with game footage in a rather ingenious way.

Oh man, I remember seeing that *exact* commercial for Prime 3. I think it was a big part of why my family got a Wii in the first place.

Super Metroid will probably always be the best Metroid game ever. The physics of the game (wall jumping and sprint) that allow you to sequence break make it the best ever! Not to mention the beautiful graphics, creatures, environments, music, and more!

This actually says a lot about how video game marketing has changed, the most obvious is that the older game were marketed for the chalange, while newer are foor the experience. Other M's trailer is really cool (and tells us that it really would have been better as a prequel), I think there is an even ooler trailer for that one. somewhere.

But I was not lost. The Metroid prime series is still revived by the Nintendo switch remaster and Metroid prime for beyond so they are still getting a revival of the prime series after so many dormant years.

The scientist guy from Super Metroid appeared on an episode of NCIS. It was the episode back in season 7 or season 8 where a female lieutenant was seemingly killed in broad daylight in full view of a camera in the Pentagon by a colleague.
