*NESTING* Nursery Organization Part 1 VLOG // Starting to Nest & Prep the Nursery for a Newborn

- As I enter into my third trimester, nesting has begun!! When I designed this nursery, I was focused on aesthetics, not organization and function. So today we're starting with some nursery organization even though I need more things that will require more organization closer to his arrival. But for now, I'm feeling good about the nursery prep I've done so far!

I prepared and the Universe laughed. When my son was born I realized I had too much stuff. It is when I became a minimalist - for my manageability and sanity. He is now 32 yo and is getting married. Plus, he became an opera singer. Enjoy each moment.
If your little one ends up sick and throws up or blows out the other end a few times in the night, you may want a little bit more than just 2 sheets. Sure, you'll wash it right away, but you'd want to go back to bed and have your little guy go back to sleep too and if you have one sheet in the washer and one in the dryer, you're left with nothing. Just a suggestion ;).

Babies have a mind of their own and come early. Wash the baby clothes now. My water broke at 35 weeks and I was packing my hospital bag while in labor and having my husband install the car seat.
IKEA sells skubb drawer organizers in white that should fit his drawers perfectly ❤

So exciting! For what it’s worth, I’d get 2-3 extra bassinet/crib sheets. You will go through them very quickly when he wets, gets sick, etc while in bed. I loved nesting when I was expecting. Enjoy it!
Hi Cathrin! I manage a Peds practice- you can always talk to your Pediatrician regarding diaper rash creams and washes. Our practice also carries samples of Dreft, baby friendly detergent and other samples for moms to try.
Please don’t trust the forehead monitor and only do a rectal thermometer. I got mastitis and was running a 102 fever and it always said 98 degrees when compared to the 102 mouth one. Your pediatrician will also tell you to get a rectal thermometer
I enjoyed watching this. I had my son at 21. I didn’t have a nursery. I didn’t get to experience this aspect of pregnancy. My dad died when I turned 18. I had to move out of my home. And didn’t get to even go through his room. He raised me after my mom died. So when I got pregnant, my life wasn’t in a place of peace or comfort. I was just working and trying to make things work. So it’s fun to get to see these experiences.

As a mother of 4 kids, you will always need something that you do not have. Each kid is different and so when you think you have being a parent down the next one will blow all that away.

Waiting for diapers is probably the best idea! That little guy is going to decide what he can, cant and wont use anyways when it comes to soap, diapers, bottle nipples, pacifiers, all of it. My 1st daughter could not wear pampers withought getting a rash...I had hundreds of them that i couldnt use...my second was very sensory sensitive and wouldnt use certain blankets and stuff because she didnt like the way it felt. Youll have to do some trial and error and see what works best for both of you. ❤

Total mommy mode here: pardon me for the unsolicited advice. Wait to get a lot of diaper rash creams, personally my baby can only handle the dOTERRA one and it does suck because I had prepared with a few more :c. On another note, I love this era of you :) I'm so excited for a babyyyyy.

I thought I was the only one hanging a million little baby sleepers... Loved the video as I am in the exact same spot now. AND do your BASKETS best decision ever. My 3 year old is stil using his baskets and it even helped him dress himself now.
Make sure you wash in Dreft....other soaps/detergents remove the fire retardant from baby clothes. Make sure you have at least 1 pkg of newborn size diaper. How did it feel the 1st time you heard yourself say MY Son???

When I got pregnant of my 1st girl i know this is crazy but RUclips kept introducing me videos of stillbirth babies that I end up having a nightmares, that my baby was born prematurely and my baby was in fact was born at 34 weeks! 😭 but I guess bcus I was GD! Anyway, I’m excited for you! I always love watching videos pregnant doing NESTING!

Ooh!! also incorporate an empty container bin in the bottom for the clothes that are to small, toss in there and you can fold and pack away it once a month.

can you possibly do an update about your skin? it looks amazing and I see you introduced gluten back so I was curious to know how long you avoided stuff and what have you been able to bring back and still stay clear
It is SO human nature to fill up our space. 🙃(We plan on moving and my hubby is scared I’ll just get more stuff 😂) You’ll know when that instinctive nesting kicks in, usually a sudden burst of energy right not too long before you go into labor.

I would suggest to use the spare curtain rod to put in the closet and hang more clothes!

@@StormSmith they never missed a single week for an entire season and a half and then suddenly, radio silence without any explanation. I’m concerned that they aren’t giving any information because the reason is something very personal or concerning. It’s so hard to be invested in the content (which is about their personal lives) and then also know that they must be allowed boundaries and that we aren’t owed any explanation.
@@AMothersNature my assumption is baby boy has been born. Or is so close that they are taking a break. I figured radio silence would occur around the same time. Of course Catherine would want to enjoy that privately. And as organized as she is, I assume there is a small back log of video to post in the mean time. But those are my assumptions. Regardless I appreciate anything they have been willing to share. I’ve enjoyed watching the journey and find it truly inspirational. And as I’ve stated, because I didn’t really get to enjoy my pregnancy experience or baby journey, I am enjoying seeing Catherine’s.
@@StormSmith she’s still pregnant and posting to her IG stories every day so baby is definitely not the reason for no pod. She did say she has videos to post while she is on Maternity leave and the content she’s been posting here on YT is definitely not in real time and probably won’t be for a long while.
@@AMothersNature I just saw the insta stories. Still pregnant. But perhaps just busy with the workshop tour and that’s why no pod? Workshop tour was not on my radar because I couldn’t afford to go.
Just had my first baby boy in April. My recurring dream was forgetting to feed him! 😅 also, if you have a hard time getting him to latch (I did), I highly recommend meeting with a lactation specialist. It was the best!
I feel like it is hard to organize and renovate. That is why things aren't that organized probably.

This is your permission to forget about hanging or folding the tiny onesies! Pick a drawer and just toss them right in. They're going to get grown out of, stained, etc. so quickly! ❤ I can't wait to see reaction vids 2 years from now (or reaction to these during your next pregnancy!) to see what you changed, laugh at, hold true to! I'm so absolutely stoked for you - new babes are so exciting. 😊

You could create a registry and just keep it private 😊 that’s what I did and then it helped me keep track of what I needed/didn’t need .. or items I was debating between. Plus the 15% discount when you get two months out from your due date 😅
