      @@luckas221ajust say you sit at home every second of your free time. Unactive people claiming "kids dont go outside no more" will always shows your age. My neighborhood haven't had a quiet evening in years, not one. over 13 kids yelling like they're being ran over everyday, its gets so loud that its a point that when they head to the park and there is no more yelling the neighborhood community board began blowing up and doors slamming open. How about walking your blook for once, be a community person and not a loner who thinks free time is only home time before claiming something so dumb. There have always been lazy kids, inside kids and active kids. Who did you think made the first game consoles, someone who loved the beach, and playing tag.

    Even as a younger gen z (2007) I think the notion of "gen z doesn't even know how to rewind a vhs tape!" incredibly funny because if you didn't have rich parents who were buying you all the new tech you had older tech. I grew up reading magazines, watching VHS tapes, and I had my mom's old iPod instead of a phone. My elementary school was underfunded so our teachers would wheel out an old TV with tapes and put them in a VCR player. Like it's not a generational thing, it's a wealth thing.

    Labeling generations is literally a way that corporations and government maintains devision amongst generations

    • @Blueskies271
      @Blueskies271 2 месяца назад

      The division will happen with or without naming generations. There is a quote: The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.
      Socrates was the person who said that. Feeling disconnected from both younger and older generations is basically a given. It happened long before corporations existed and will continue on as long as humans exist.

    I'm a rather late millennial ('93) and I really don't get the negativity towards younger generations. And it's not just the 'gen z is looking older'-thing. From what I'm witnessing in my corporate job, there's also a lot of negativity and prejudices towards Gen Z. "they just want to chill", "they leave to early", "they're not working hard enough" etc. When in reality most of Gen Z just knows their own worth, prioritizes themselves over a job and just leaves, when they're not valued. And I think this is pretty badass and I have a lot of respect and admiration for my younger colleagues ❤

      All generations always say the younger one don’t want to work. Even some philosophers of old published stuff where they said the exact same thing about their kids or grandkids.
      It’s a tale as old as time.
      What people don’t understand is that Gen z lives in a time where there is a workers shortage. In most developed nations more people Reiter then start working. So yes they demand more cause they can. We aren’t dumb we know that the job oftentimes needs us more then we would need it.
      Back in the day it was the other way around everyone was replaceable cause there were always people in search of a job. That meant you had to go overboard with your work do unpaid overtime cause otherwise you would just get fired and replaced by a more „productive“ worker.
      I grew up watched my parents over work themselves and realized that it’s not worth it. I will do exactly what I am paid for. And only during crisis will I deliberately do more.

There’s people who are 27 and people who are 14, yeah, many of us were forced to grow up quicker but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Plus the term itself is so stupid because milk doesn’t even necessarily age badly.

      honestly, as a 23 y/o it gives me absolute whiplash to be technically in the same generation as my 13 y/o sister… our experience of the Internet and society is fundamentally different. generational distinctions are a bit arbitrary to begin with but i honestly think generational boundaries need to get shorter because of the rapidness of change. most people think of gen z as being in their tweens to mid teens… which is why i usually call myself a zillenial. gets the point across better.

I’ve never in my life “acted my age”. Our adventure is short..time is limited. Laugh out loud, dance in the rain, jump in puddles…live your life no matter WHAT your age is…and stop worrying about what others think about you. Especially those you don’t even KNOW!

    • @ErutaniaRose
      @ErutaniaRose 4 месяца назад +8

      THIS! I'm AuDHD (autistic and ADHD) and I have never once given a fuck about acting my own age. I read more advanced things and played T rated games as a kid (mostly because of older siblings--and BOY did the school hate my reading below or above my grade level), even attempted college maths at 10 (duh I didn't know what to do, but my older bro let me look at it and try is the point), and I'm a 21 year old with a pastel room full of plushies, blankets, and pillows, lol. Granted I have more adult books, own blades, crochet at ton for myself, and have more items that a kid prob shouldn't for safety, but I don't care about my room being "childish", because it's what makes me happy and is a safe space. I dress how I like because of comfort. I always dressed like "an old lady" according to kids at school. I was comfortable, who cares.
      Hell, a few weeks ago I bought a made for 1+ and up plush shark because I love sharks and could shove my hand in it's mouth to store things. Fun is fun, and as long as you don't hurt yourself or others, it REALLY shouldn't matter.

      Yeah, as a Gen Z I'm honestly mostly happy with my weathering. While it has worked to hurt me in the past being given adult responsibilities at a younger age, now that I'm grown I feel more equipped to take on the world and am glad that I have moved past so much at my age. Aging isn't the only thing that causes someone to be undesirable, and I hope the rest of the world is able to figure that out one day. Because calling someone ugly for it is one of those metrics that would really turn me off personally. Like being rude is not attractive, regardless of what your truth is.

I don't want GenZ to hate themselves at all, especially not for natural processes that are a part of life. Also as an old millenial women, I am happy to look cheugy. My love of camo is reflective of my lifestyle as an old working women who works outside... stains & dirt blend in... it is completely reflective of me being old so if young people don't want to dress like me, fair enough... I only started wearing camo hard out in the last 5 years anyway, BECAUSE of my age.

      The millennial guy was basically right about millennials being the new standard for aging. Since millennials look younger (compared to Gen X and up) Gen z would comparably look more similar to them, which makes them think Gen z looks older than their age. Maybe Gen z will just be the exact same and take decades to start showing signs of aging bc both generations took better care of themselves.

      I agree, this is basically categorizing people based on what month they were born, basically astrology. I was born in 93 and honestly I'm not surprised to see some millennials going this toxic route but I have high hopes and expectations of Gen Z, after all they are the generation who stood up to the Israeli genocide and put the pro Palestinian position on the map, they are also a generation who is taking empathy and kindness very seriously and are realizing that science and technology don't mean anything if they are not used for humancentric and are used for the interest of people instead of for profit. And btw, at the risk of oversimplifying this looking old issue, some Gen Z people do look older and it's due to how they dress, but it's not bad, it's whatever, do your thing, and as older siblings, a lot of us look at you guys (Gen Z) as a hopeful promise for our world and we will be there to help get rid of the "If I suffered through it, then everybody should suffer through it" mentality.

Especially for red carpet events, picking apart which guys look good in a tux can become very personal and petty much more quickly than with the distraction of the different shapes and styles women wear. Men's fashion changes so much slower than women's and repeats more often.

I don't think millenials killing it off is right, either. I think a few people used it, and it was a very distinct word that stuck in people's heads, so we thought about it a lot, but it was never really a big thing that was thrown around in any meaningful way. Hell, the examples of people using the term in this video, all of those people sound like they're trying their best to use an unfamiliar foreign word they _just_ learned. Whenever I meet new people I just wait for them or someone else to mention their age because it’s not always obvious, and some people with an important age gap could be considered the same age 🤔

      Very true. I used to look older than my age when I was a teenager, because I was severely underweight and had a sunken face and I wore heavy makeup because I didn't know how to adapt it to my face. Now that I'm recovered from my ED, my baby face is back and I get asked for ID a lot more often than when I was 17.

      I'm not exactly an anthropologist, but I've heard other ppl mention (and noticed myself) sort of "waves" in population: like there would be years with less babies born and they would grow up on a shorter side with baby face, then there would be years with more babies who grow up taller and mature faster appearance-wise
      of course it doesn't apply to everyone born in the same year and the link with birthrates may be just a coincidence, but I feel like it's there

      I agree. I think both sides are cherry picking for the sake of being petty, tbh millennials more than gen z. I've seen millennials that look their age and some look older, and there's some that look their age but claim they still look 16. My graduating high school class looked younger on average than the past few classes, but i think we just look our age. Millennials are purposely choosing "older" gen z to prove that the entirety of gen z look old. While ignoring the millennials that have gotten Botox/filler or spent way too much time in tanning beds. There's definitely people in gen z such as influencers that have gotten a lot of work done or their makeup ages them, but they don't speak for the entire generation.

      I was born 2001 as well, but I’m an only child to Boomer/Gen X parents so I was raised on 70s/80s music and analog TV 😂 I don’t even know where I stand with this topic. Childhood wise, I definitely had a mishmash of a Zillennial upbringing. I just don’t even know where to be in this kind of conversation
