    Morning Heidi, this is one of my favorite herbs. I use it for digestive issues, and has healed my leaky gut. It builds the lining of the intestinal wall,so does L-glutimine. Anyways it also does help my seasonal allergies. I buy it in a extract,the taste is very woody but has healed me within a 3 month period. I've been using it for a year now.

    I just studied this plant yesterday Heidi , in the Homegrown Herbalists School Of Botanical Medicine and Doc Jones said he has had the good fortune of using Marshmellow internally and topically to stop Gangrene. Amazing things God has given us to heal our bodies. A shame many have traded that in for a pill. He also mentioned it prefers cold infusion to hot teas. I am in the process of tincturing many of my herbs and will make the formulas that way. Thanks for all your hard work and diligence to teaching everyone the importance of medicinal herbs and remedies. Blessings , ♥️ from 🇨🇦.

    This is very timely and much appreciated. I am still very much at the amateur level on uses of herbs, but I hope to grow marshmallow and other medinal herbs this year. I sell plant starts at a local farmers' market and I believe there is enough interest in herbs that I may be able to expand from growing the better-known culinary herbs to medicinal herbs as well. When customers ask about their benefits, I hope it would be OK to recommend your channel for more detailed information than I can give.

    Oh wow, this is very cool. People look at me like I am crazy when I explain the ancient origins of the confection made with "marshmallow". It was also eaten as a pot herb. (I was an obsessed chef restaurateur that would ramble on.) I have a first edition English copy of Larousse Gastronomiquec that explains it's uses and how to make the confection from this plant. If you want to find out how people ate in the past, you should get an old copy of the book. It literally explains how to catch and prepare meadow larks on toast. I'll not go into what they thought was the best part. Just, People where not squeamish back then.

      This is something really cool, I read about some ethnographic linguists that spoke with rustic people in the caucuses, in Georgia, if I remember correctly, in the early 1900s. The people's formulations of words for specific things indicated whether they were good to eat or not. The form of a word for a bird, fish or mammal, or even a plant, would indicate it's eatability. It sounds bizarre in our modern world. @@RainCountryHomestead

      I am not sure what your first idea is for or how you plan on using it but I can tell you this, fat and water do not mix unless you go through the messy process of emulsifying and even then there is no guarantee they will not separate.
      You can make your vinegar out of anything you want. Since you said ACV, I am guessing you are talking about taking a premade apple cider vinegar and adding herbs to it rather than creating an herb based vinegar from scratch, but you would still want it to infuse for a couple of weeks before straining for use and yes, I water my vinegars down before using on my hair and I go over that in this video: ruclips.net/video/agEOmz9h90o/видео.html

    This will be the 3rd growing season of my marshmallow plants, and I haven’t harvested anything off them yet. Can you keep the plant by cutting a few roots off instead of digging the whole thing up? Also, is it better to harvest old or young leaves, or just anytime during the growing season?

    • @RainCountryHomestead

    What do you guys get for low temp where you live? I'm in Oklahoma in zone 7b and it gets below freezing every year, so far this year as far as I know it has gotten down to 2F ,will the marshmallow still make it through the winter, come back from the roots? Thanks

      We freeze on occasion but not for long or as cold as other places. We are in 8b. However, I know several that live in areas that get below freezing every winter and their marshmallow does just fine

    Is marshmallow tree a spreader can it be grown in with my chickens and the orchard

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  5 месяцев назад

      While it it perennial, it is not a tree. It dies back in the fall. It does spread in the form of seeds that fall and in the first few years will get bigger each time it comes back but after a few years seems to stay about the same size when it grows back. It can get to 10 feet tall at the peak of its growth before dying back but should be fine in chicken yards depending on how much space you have

      Since I am not a doctor and everyone is going to be different in what they need, some needing to take care due to medications they may be on or allergies they may have, I cannot recommend any specific amount other than starting small to make sure you have no reactions to it.

      I found starting mine in small pots indoors or in a greenhouse to do best. Now that they are established, I never need to make new starts as not only are they perennial but they throw a lot of seed that comes up on its own so I get a lot of baby plants every year

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  5 месяцев назад +1

      While I now get marshmallow plants coming up from fallen seed every year, I could not get my first plants to grow by direct seeding, I had to start in my greenhouse in small pots first. Once established it will come back every year and make more plants through its own seed
