Toto presents "With A Little Help From My Friends".
The performance captures one special night on November 21, 2020 when Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams and David Paich appeared with the new line-up of TOTO for a global event originating from Los Angeles, CA. Joining Lukather, Williams and Paich for this next chapter in their indelible history are new band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note / Snarky Puppy), and keyboardist / background vocalist Steve Maggiora (Robert Jon & The Wreck). Keyboardist Dominique “Xavier” Taplin (Prince, Ghost-Note) and multi-instrumentalist / vocalist Warren Ham (Ringo Starr) segued over continuing their tenure in the ensemble. This marks the fifteenth incarnation of the TOTO line-up in consideration of band members or sidemen who joined or exited.

Well I learned something today
David Paich father is Marty Paich who was big in the orchestral business and Joe Porcaro was the father of brother's Jeff, Steve, and Mike's , a well known jazz percussionist.

While the Porcoro feel is gone from the music entirely, Luke and Joseph still have that magic touch. Rest in peace Jeff and Mike and best of luck to Steve.
Joseph's voice has gotten so much better since his brief hiatus back in the day. I wish him much success and that his voice remains in pristine condition. He is one of the main voices of Toto.
Luke's guitar sounds so good here. Good thickness and compression.
It's like Toto doesn't understand the concept of the autumn years. This is just so incredibly good, no reservation.
Joseph Williams sounds unbelievable. The band is great. Im so happy to still see Luke up there jamming. It is what it is....time marches on.....and the guys should be proud. They are representing Toto as it should be.

In year's past, Warren was one of the two lead singers in Kerry Livgren's GREAT post-Kansas band called AD. Check it out.
I hope Warren gets at least some brief vocal "answer" moments in this group (maybe even a spotlight lead vocal) because he's a fantastic lead singer, too. And absolutely NOTHING to take away from Joe here... the guy is simply NAILIN' it!

This backing band is sensational, feels weird without Paich or a Porcaro but Luke and Joe are all that’s needed, this live album is perfection.
The line up always changes but the sound hasn't changed.
Steve said in an interview at SoT that Paich will do local dates if he feels up to it. Paich is basically the music director for the band due to his health issues and I guess he attended these rehearsals. David is on stage when they play Rosanna.
@@jkbaca41 yep. Paich is the music director for the band, I guess because he wrote and contribute in most of Toto song, just like Luke did. And also Paich appeared on "With a Little Help of My Friend" song.

What can I say, I love Toto. The video for this song always makes me smile. Joe had such a baby face back then. And his energy was comical but you could tell he was having a blast. They are still my favs after all these years. Takes me back to a good place. To me that’s what music is all about.
Such a joy listening to Sput on the drums. Deep in the pocket and GROOVY. And he's full of joy.

All of this is as tight as a camels arse in sandstorm !! Although i loved the last line up as it really put TOTO back on the top of the pile ... who dares not to like this lineup , it continually evolves and evolves !! and it always great !! still cannot get over how happy Sput is playing these tunes its fabulous to see and every body else plays at the top level !! always the greatest ever ,.
When the groove started and Lukather played that first dipped note and I think my heart skipped a beat! Incredible music!

There are very few bands who have gone through all ups and downs this band has gone through and yet here they are. I for one am happy Luke and Joe are keeping the flame burning. They couldn't have picked any better fellow musicians to support them.

The amazing thing with Toto is that they have worked with so many different artists over all those years.
Each musician was allowed to bring his own voice and style to the table. So each live version of the most famous songs are unique in a sense while also respecting the original interpretation on the album. I think it allows Lukather and Co. to really enjoy their own music each and every day without getting bored of it.
