Since 2008. Ive been the only person on this earth to talk about the last play the giants had in this game. The Burrues touchdown. THey ran the same play to beat the pats in the super bowl. Nobody but me has ever talked about this. It makes me madder that Belchick didnt see that play coming nor the cb that guarded plaxico in both games. It was the difference because they showed that play in this game.

As a patriots fan I wish we would have never face giants the last game of regular season not knowing that this would be the team patriots face in Super Bowl ... I this this game gave giants some great tape review before that super bowl
I agree. What I think also is why high octane offensises face physical defenses, the physical really destroys the offense...especially when the league lacks physical defenses to really practice against. The Pats would've beaten the Packers or the Cowboys that year easily. Giants were just more physical and that wares down softer teams.
Watching that game I thought, that gave the Giants confidence, they knew they could hang with anyone. Also before the Superbowl, the Pats were cocky. You don't want to insult your opponent. It gives them anger and desire to beat you. The Pats should have been quiet Superbowl week and not give the Giants ammunition.
I respect them for having the balls to go for it. Once they beat the ravens in the Steelers I kind of accepted it at that point at a certain point it’s time to go for it.
In a lot of ways, this season was the NFL’s home run race of 98 equivalent. There was a lot of hype and anticipation around the Patriots as they closed in on a 19-0 season. And of course their offense was legendary. Everyone was watching them and everyone wanted to beat them. We kept our eye on them here in Miami for sure and celebrated when the undefeated season was prevented by the Giants in the big game.
@@yetz2291 yea but Brady chocked that game he had one best wide receivers ever and a defense that was ranked 4th that year, meanwhile giants defense was ranked 17th that year and people call eli manning trash but still put up more points than Brady
Patriots got 3 SB right out of the gate. The middle years were good, but no rings from 2005-2013. Since 2014, it has been almost total domination of Brady
Proud of the Pats that season. 18-1, sure, but still won the AFC championship. As a fan, no need to be mopey about what you don’t have, but rather grateful for what you do
True story Was dating a former NASA engineer who hated football. At her house I asked that we check the score of this game and as we laid down and were getting “comfortable”, she said That guy in number 12 is like the perfect body type at that position. She paused it and showed how accurate he is throwing downward and how sure he is of his long distance throws based on his entire motion of throwing. It was the coolest thing in the world and this was before the record breaker of 50 TD’s for Brady. She said “He doesn’t have to have a lot of arm. His whole body is behind every throw and he follows through with ridiculous accuracy.” And he DOES have a sick arm.
Rewatching this for like the 10th time and the ref that officiated this game is the same one that officiated the Super Bowl five weeks later. That's crazy, he was there to see the Pats go 16-0, and the Giants upset to ruin the perfect season five weeks later.
My all time favorite regular season Giants game, regardless of the loss. The fact that we came SOOOOOO close to beating the “greatest team ever” (and still might be the greatest in my lifetime despite what happened in the Super Bowl) gave us Giants fans so much confidence entering the playoffs. We all thought that if we came far closer to beating New England than anyone else, then we could beat every other team in the league. “We could beat these guys, we just need to get through the NFC first.” Judging from the ensuing playoff run, I assume the players shared the same sentiment. You could tell in the very next week in the playoffs against the Buccaneers, the Giants’ confidence was at an all-time high. Against Dallas and Green Bay, that confidence never wavered, and when it was time to play New England again in the Super Bowl, it felt like destiny.
The NFL tried to use the significance of this game to get people to subscribe to whatever package had NFL network and America was like “bitch you thought”
As much as people want to discuss the way the Giants "figured out" the Pats offense going into the super bowl, I'd say the same can be said of the Pats. They gave up 35 points here and only allowed half that in the SB. It was just a matter of who got the better defensive stop throughout the entire game.
It seemed like the commentators momentarily forgot about bradys/moss record breaker achievements until one of them said "and PERHAPS congratulations to new england" Shows how pulsating this game was
@JL-CptAtom I can tell you right now that if the Patriots were in the NFC and a division like NFC South or NFC North they wouldn't be going to super bowls like that.
As a NFC North team you have to give 100% every week to get into the playoffs. On the other hand, the Pats have the luck to play 6 games a year against basically always bad division rivals. 80% are enough to beat them. That's like having extra bye weeks.
JL-CptAtom If Brady was in the NFC without Bill Belichick, Tom would be a complete joke to the NFL. The NFC North and West would smoke his ass. Fuck the Patriots. It’s all because of Belichick. Tom Brady is really not that good.
JL-CptAtom - It doesn’t matter. When you have a cakewalk to a division title every year it doesn’t matter what happens outside your division until you make it to the super bowl. The AFC has always been the weaker conference, and the AFC east has been trash for the better part of 20 years. You’re obviously a patriots fan given the fact that you dug so deep to find these stats. Congrats on your wins, they can’t be taken away from you. However you have to credit the front offices of your divisional opponents for failing to make adjustments for so long.
Surely they would've loved to win on THAT night....but more importantly, they wanted to show everyone that they could go toe-to-toe with the then-'Perfect' Patriots. And they did, despite losing by a FG. Walking off the field that night, the Giants knew deep down they were on par with the Pats. And they would get to show the WORLD just how so again a month later.
I remember this game as I was wanting the Giants to win and stop the perfect season. The Giants played with heart but came up short. They broke the perfect season in the SB though 😆
As a Pats fan, tough to deal with losing to NY that way. Giants had no business being in the two SBs with 9-7 and 10-6 records, but they pulled it off. Pats never should’ve beaten Seahawks or Falcons either, so it all comes out in the wash
I swear after all this time i just realized watching this again tht the Head Ref is the same guy that refereed the super bowl...now how cool is that ...
Its crazy to think that people hate on the pats for losing to ny in the superbowl when they barely won here in week 17 and all the giants did was get there win back tbh,it literally took an entire season and a team who already played them to finally lose,I just think that's hella impressive and shouldn't be cast aside when talking about this season, but props to the giants though

Michael Strahan said afterward that they left the field that night all thinking to themselves 'Imagine if we played these guys again with everything on the line....' I remember earlier in the week Coughlin was getting some criticism for risking playing his starters in game that was supposed to not have any impact on the standings at all, but by the end of the game Coughlin & the Giants were being lauded for their effort. Ultimately, it was exactly what the Giants needed going into the playoffs. They knew they could hang with the mighty Patriots the night they left that field. They knew they could beat them if given another try. And.....we know what happened a month later...... 😀

Christian Travieso 18-1
Logan Mankins didn't either. It just was not the Pats day. I think were they healthy or Asante catches that interception they win....even if it was ugly. The Pats oline was turnstyles that game. Eli and Coughlin just always played them tough.
@@danlove3635 Asante Samuel is a bum who misses an interception 😊
I remember being in this game, row 6 in 50 yard line on Patriots sideline. We gave Randy Moss a hell of a time, he kept giving us the finger all game long. What a time and what a game!
This is the game where the Patriots put the Miami Dolphins undefeated talk to rest.
After this game majority of those Dolphins stopped celebrating including Coach Shula, that they were the only undefeated team.
Just a couple still celebrate, those few just can’t face the truth.
The Patriots went on still to reach the point of 18-0 passing the Dolphins 17-0.
The Patriots had to play 2 more games than the Dolphins did and still passed them.
The Patriots are now the only NFL team to reach a 18-0 record.
Pats lost the Super Bowl but it took a miracle catch to finally beat them and for Patriot Nation that’s fine. That it took a miracle to beat them. “ it is what it is”
The Patriots would go one to 6 more Super Bowls and winning 3 of them.
Cementing the NFLs only 20yr DYNASTY.
Most dynasty’s during the SB ERA last just about 5yrs. The Patriots from 2001 to 2019 went to 9 Super Bowls and winning 6 of them.
The averages going to a SB every other year.
If moss caught that brady last-ditch-pass-to-avoid-a-sack that woulda been one hell of an all-time play
"Brady, with time, going back again, for Moss!"
Crazy we played the giants last game to go 16-0. Crazy foreshadowing
So important that this game was simulcast on TWO networks I believe (NBC and CBS if I remember). I hated the Pats and was glad they lost that final game but looking back I almost wish they won the SB to go 19-0. Would've been the best accomplishment in sports history
96-0 NBA team
Incredible observation. Props.
The Day after the Game, John Madden called Tom Coughlin and left a Voicemail praising Coach and the Giants for Going All Out instead of just Mailing It In. Saying it was one of the Best Things to happen for the NFL in the last 10 Years😮😮😮😮👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Yikes, remember this game like it was yesterday. The game that gave them the confidence in knowing that they could beat these guys...
Brady with time going back again to Moss. Touchdown Patriots!
I remember this game vividly gave us so much juice going into the playoffs we felt unstoppable
Manning looked solid 💯 we didn’t build enough around him tbh. All of our money went towards defense & not protection and weapons.
Tbh Jerry reese ruined the 2nd half of eli manning's career hes the main reason y we suck today and injuries
That D that you say you spent too much money on held this record-breaking Pats offense to just 14 points in the Super Bowl, so...
@@yetz2291 yea but Brady chocked that game he had one best wide receivers ever and a defense that was ranked 4th that year, meanwhile giants defense was ranked 17th that year and people call eli manning trash but still put up more points than Brady
@@rafaelgeorge7271 They both put up 14 points giants kicker had the other 3
@@Levi77471 dont matter enough to get in winning position brady had better weapons and put up only 14 pts 💀 just admit it Brady choked
I remember being home from OTR work for Swift, and watching this game on TV. I remember feeling so lucky to have seen such an entertaining game.
I don't care what people say 07 NY Giants was a good team
good team? more like a weird team!
@@1990Thunderbolt great team
Knocked off the greatest in the game that mattered
Da Sports Fan lmfao
They were loaded that year
Patriots got 3 SB right out of the gate. The middle years were good, but no rings from 2005-2013. Since 2014, it has been almost total domination of Brady
So magical
What? You on crack boy?!
How many people are watching this in 2020 wishing it was 2007 again?
Proud of the Pats that season. 18-1, sure, but still won the AFC championship. As a fan, no need to be mopey about what you don’t have, but rather grateful for what you do
True story
Was dating a former NASA engineer who hated football.
At her house I asked that we check the score of this game and as we laid down and were getting “comfortable”, she said
That guy in number 12 is like the perfect body type at that position. She paused it and showed how accurate he is throwing downward and how sure he is of his long distance throws based on his entire motion of throwing.
It was the coolest thing in the world and this was before the record breaker of 50 TD’s for Brady.
She said
“He doesn’t have to have a lot of arm. His whole body is behind every throw and he follows through with ridiculous accuracy.”
And he DOES have a sick arm.
There is literally not one single scientific observation in what you wrote.
Week 17, 2007: the prequel
Super Bowl 42: the rematch
Super Bowl 46: the sequel
fun fact: the losing team in the regular season has a 86% winning rate in a rematch in the playoffs
Browns against Steelers in a nutshell in the Wild Card edition.
Well the giants won the rematch next time in the regular season and super bowl lol
Rewatching this for like the 10th time and the ref that officiated this game is the same one that officiated the Super Bowl five weeks later. That's crazy, he was there to see the Pats go 16-0, and the Giants upset to ruin the perfect season five weeks later.
I'm glad they changed the color of the TV first down line.. I kept thinking every play was fourth down in this video.
It’s crazy to me how many notable players there are on both teams side of the ball
remember watching this. One of the greatest regular season games of all time
2007 Patriots was stacked wit Randy Moss Tom Brady Rodney Harrison but I still don't understand how they lose the Giants in Super Bowl 42 smh 💯
stomp you out
Easy to play when u has hothing to lose
Luck and 2 miracles in one play
The people who told Bryant Gumbel “Hey, you oughta do play-by-play!” were complete idiots.
I remember 10 year old me switching between CBS and NBC, seeing the same game, and thinking I had defeated the cable gods.
This game was stationed by 5 channels that broadcasted this; NFL Network, CBS, NBC, Fox, and ESPN.
Greatest regular season loss in history lol
It's poetic that Plaxico Burress was the receiver for the Giants last score in this game and to be the winning receiver for the Super Bowl weeks later
Brady with time Going back again FOR MOSS Touchdown Patriots!!
“We could beat these guys, we just need to get through the NFC first.”
Judging from the ensuing playoff run, I assume the players shared the same sentiment.
Greatest forgotten game ever
Not forgotten. How many times is Bradys 50th TD pass shown. Its the most iconic one. More than Mahomes 50th. Really more than Mannings 51st
Tazer cause Brady was the first to 50. Also, no one talks about the game, just the record
Not forgotten, people realized if the Giants met the Patriots in the SB, it was going to be a game for the ages.
This game was outstanding!
*18-1 intensifies*
😭
It was our plan to lose so we upset them in ‘42
As much as people want to discuss the way the Giants "figured out" the Pats offense going into the super bowl, I'd say the same can be said of the Pats. They gave up 35 points here and only allowed half that in the SB. It was just a matter of who got the better defensive stop throughout the entire game.
The giants wouldn’t have won the Super Bowl without this game. They learned what they did wrong the first time.
It seemed like the commentators momentarily forgot about bradys/moss record breaker achievements until one of them said "and PERHAPS congratulations to new england"
Shows how pulsating this game was
The prequel, the game..the history that was followed after..
Also worthy to note Mike Carey officiated both this and the Super Bowl!
Even tho the giants lost this game you got to be proud of how hard they played and fought
I was so proud of Moss in this game. Best freak of nature to ever come from WV.
Defenses were built around him, not to mention offenses.
Just imagine if moss was on the same team that featured GRONK. LMFAO talk about siiiiiiick. You have to single cover everyone I assume.
@@danacaldwell5388 That would be a smart idea for moss and gronk to get on the same page in offense.
What a season as a Giants fan!
They're probably gunna go 16-0 again with that easy ass schedule they got.
@JL-CptAtom Get some help.
Now this was like a real life Madden game with my friends
Honestly, I felt like this game had equal to or even more hype than a Super Bowl. Is that just me?
I hate the Giants and Eli with a passion. But I must say they taught me the true meaning of Any Give Sunday
This was the best loss in Giants history lol
Surely they would've loved to win on THAT night....but more importantly, they wanted to show everyone that they could go toe-to-toe with the then-'Perfect' Patriots. And they did, despite losing by a FG. Walking off the field that night, the Giants knew deep down they were on par with the Pats. And they would get to show the WORLD just how so again a month later.
9:05 thats one hell of a stutter step by welker ive never seen one colder
I remember this game as I was wanting the Giants to win and stop the perfect season. The Giants played with heart but came up short. They broke the perfect season in the SB though 😆
If New England lost, they would've gotten a great 18-1.
Instead, they got the wrong 18-1.
Haha. Was saying same
As a Pats fan, tough to deal with losing to NY that way. Giants had no business being in the two SBs with 9-7 and 10-6 records, but they pulled it off. Pats never should’ve beaten Seahawks or Falcons either, so it all comes out in the wash
Matt Cassel’s story on this game really shows the competitive nature of that 07 Patriots team ‼️
I watched this game on UPN 9
One of the few times where moral victory actually meant something.
Can you imagine if Madden had classic teams you'd have both these teams for sure.
I remember watching this game on CBS and NBC cause i didn't had satellite

I remember this game like it was yesterday. I was in 8th grade.
Never felt better about a giants loss in all my life.
If the Giants had rested their starters in this game, the Patriots would have went 19-0
That sack on Brady at 2:30 didn’t even count Giants D holding. They show that play all the time on NFL Films and it didn’t even count.
1 of 3 games between the giants and patriots that season.

1:40 😂😂😂 Brady such a competitor brooo . Slapped Justin Tucks ass “let’s play ball then !”
The Giants may have lost this game
But they got their Revenge in the Superbowl and they ENDED the Patriots undefeated season
I’m surprised they didn’t spoil it here.
Eli said to Brady: "OK, you can have your perfect season. But we're gonna meet you again in the Super Bowl. I'll get my revenge for this".
The Giants took this game personal. 😨
Brady to Moss...wow
Heroes: Because without them, someone would have 9 rings and a perfect season
Thanks for uploading this one and not the other pats giants game that year. That one still hurts even though winning 3 since has helped.
Idk why but the moment at 1:41 puts a little smile on my face.
I remember watching this game. I think it gave the giants confidence that they could beat the patriots. Was a great game
