    Before NFL changed the division formatting in 2002 the Patriots and Colts were both apart of the AFC East. Just imagine these 2 teams throughout the decade playing each other twice a season!

    • @tbirum
      @tbirum 5 лет назад +29

      Gotta disagree with you on this one. The Steelers & Ravens play each other twice a year and that is always a "game of the week" contender, (back when the 49'ers were good) Seattle and San Fran was always a "GOTW"contender, Bears Packers/Vikings Packers.From 2001 to 2015 Brady VS Peyton resulted in some of the greatest games of their respective seasons, and when they met in the playoffs,,,well that just took the rivalry to another level. Having these two face each other two times every season, one in Indy and one in New England would have made their rivalry even more intense, since every season there would be a chance for one team to sweep the other team, OR for a regular season split with a potential "Rubber Match" to take place in the playoffs.Some times there can be too much of a good thing, but there can never be "too much" Brady VS Manning.That would be like saying there are too many NFL regular season games,,,sure you can say that in Baseball/Basketball/Hockey, but Brady and Manning playing 2 times a year,,,sometimes 3 times a year being too much???

    • @tbirum
      @tbirum 5 лет назад +17

      @The Life Analyst You might want to rethink that. Brady Played Peyton 12 times when Peyton was a Colt his regular season record against Brady was 3-6 in the regular season and 1-2 in the playoffs for a combined 4-8. When Peyton went to Denver his record was slightly better but he still had a losing record
      0-3 in the regular season and 2-0 in the Playoffs for a combined 2-3 record overall. Brady held a 9-3 advantage over Peyton in the regular season and Peyton held a 3-2 edge over Brady in the Playoffs so in total Brady won the overall series with a 11-6 record in the 17 times they met. So I do not see How you think Peyton would have come out on top if the two played in the same division seeing as how in the regular season Brady held a 9-3 advantage. In case you are wondering of those 9 regular season games between the Pats & Colts Brady was 3-2 when at home and 3-1 when Playing on the road, So Brady was actually better against Peyton when Brady played him in Indy and as far the the Playoffs (again Pats VS Colts) Brady was 2-0 at home and 0-1 on the road BUT since Brady owned Peyton during the regular season 6-3 (if they played in the same division) more often,,,,far more often, Peyton and the Colts would be the wild card team going on the road to play the Pats in New England, and again, in the playoffs Peyton was 0-2 on the road in the playoffs. Now Peyton was undefeated in the playoffs against Brady when Peyton was playing at home 1-0 as a Colt and 2-0 as a Bronco.Your statement seemed to come from your heart,,,, mine came from using Google to present Facts.

    • @tbirum
      @tbirum 5 лет назад +7

      how does that change anything that I said?,,how does that change your original comment?IF the Colts and Pats stayed in the same Division they would play each other 2 times a year every year, Brady was 6-3 in the regular season and 2-1 when they met in the Playoffs, so Explain to me how if they played each other two times every season (in the regular season) how Peyton would have won more and Brady would have lost more.As a Colt Peyton was 4-8 against Brady. Its OK if you are a fan of Peyton, I love Peyton, I also love Brady (I myself am a DIE HARD Minnesota Vikings fan (born and raised) I am just curious how you can say that if the Colts and Pats were in the same division Peyton would have beaten Brady more then Brady would have beaten Peyton. Their record against each other does not support your claims.

    • @tbirum
      @tbirum 5 лет назад +5

      I will say this, Peyton is more physically gifted then Brady, Body wise, I think they are both Mentally head and shoulders above 90% of the QB's we have seen in the NFL, BUT Brady has Bill Belichick as his head coach, and I think that is the reason why Brady won more head to head match ups. BB is the greatest Head Coach in the history of the NFL. The Rams had a better roster of players in the SB, but BB totally out coached Sean Mcvay and that is why the Pats collected another SB ring.had the Colts and Pats been in the same division Peyton would have not only had to have beaten Brady and the Patriot players, but also their Head Coach. Have Brady and Peyton switch coaches and I think it would have been Peyton who would have held a 8-4 record over Brady.

    It was terrifying how explosive New England’s offense was that year. For most of this game belichick wanted his offense to prioritize ball control because last time they faced the colts in the afc championship, his defense wore out and blew a 21-3 lead. Down by 10 with just over 8 minutes left in the game belichick basically just said fuck it, and the pats stretched the field and scored 2 touchdowns almost at will.

    Super Bowl

      Cassel went 10-5 with New England in 2008. So, Cassel won 8 fewer games, passed for 35 less TDs, threw for 1100 less yards, scored, 180 less points, took the most sacks in the league, and failed to make the playoffs with the most talented team in the NFL.
      Cassel went to the 2-14 Chiefs and had them in first place in the AFC West within 2 years (Cassel was 10-5 that season too), with the legendary Todd Haley coaching (lifetime coaching record = 9-21 without Cassel).
      Cassel (27 TDs, 7 INTs) also had a higher passer rating in 2010 than Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Carson Palmer, Matt Ryan and Alex Smith. He threw for more TDs than Flacco, Roethlisberger and Sam Bradford that year too. He had the same record as Rodgers that year and had 1 less TD pass and 4 fewer INTs than Aaron Rodgers.

The NFL wanted the Colts to repeat as SB Champions, and they wanted a NE @ IND 2007 AFC Championship Game like 2006.

    What blew my mind was when they flashed the scores of the other games, the Lions were sitting at 6-2. The following year they went 0-16. That is an impressive skid...if skids like that can be considered impressive.

    After the Colts defeated the Patriots in the AFC championship game on their way to winning the Super Bowl, Bill Belichick spent the offseason to equip the team to beat Indianapolis. Thats why he got Moss, Welker, and other offensive weapons for Brady as the 2006 Patriots never had them. Had they met in the 2007 postseason, there was no way the Colts could beat New England, regardless if they were at home or on the road.

    Best regular season game I’ve ever seen. I wish you had the shot of Manning slamming his fist into the turf after his last turnover.

    Here after watching Manning speak at Brady's Patriots hall of fame induction. This was definitely their best regular season match-up. Both in their prime, before both of their injuries, both now super bowl champs, and both on undefeated teams. Brady, Manning, Moss, Wayne, Welker, Clark, Addai all in their prime. Wish we could of saw a rematch of this that season in the Playoffs.
