      I think the same

    • @jamesm3471

      My reasoning:
The Helmet Catch, is awesome, but also overrated. It’s 3rd and 5, Roughly midfield. If Tyree can’t make the catch, it’s 4 and 5.
If Steve doesn’t make the play on the 3&11, best case it’s 4th and 3, while worst case it’s 4&11, going up against one of the greatest situational defenses in NFL history in the 2007 Pats, who have been operating very successfully all year on the bend-don’t-break idea of stopping teams cold in the red zone. No helmet catch, and the Giants still have half the field spreading out the NE defense, and they need 5 yards, but if Smith doesn’t make that play, that same NE defense only has to defend roughly 20 yards of field, knowing that the Giants will be going for the sidelines or the Endzone. Smith’s play prevented all that, but hardly gets a mention.

Who'd have thought his final year would give him his first and only Superbowl win against the undefeated evil empire.

So many underrated moments that are overlooked but so crucial on that final drive:
Toomer's clutch catches in the dirt.
Jacobs somehow picking up that 4th and 1 when the entire team and region of New England knew he was running the ball.
Eli somehow holding on to the ball after the attempted strip/tackle by Thomas @3:51
Smith's tightrope walk on 3rd and 11 to get the 1st.
Jacobs sliding over to pick up an untouched Harrison off the edge so Eli can get the clean fade pass off to Burress.
The Helmet Catch is obviously an all-timer and remembered as such, but the plays above laid the foundation of the G-Men winning that game.

I laugh when people call this game boring. They say how there was barely any scoring. I dont know how people weren't on the edge of their seat every time the Patriots had the ball because of the potential for them to blow the game open at any time. Or when the Giants had the ball it was like is Eli going to start throwing picks, and he never did. The potential of what could happen on the next play made this game so interesting.

I was watching the game in a New England bar that night. I thought I was probably the only Giants fan there, but then I noticed a young couple who were silent whenever the Patriots did something positive--while everyone else was whooping it up. So I went over to them, told them I was rooting for the Giants, and asked if I could sit with them. They smiled and said sure, and told me that they were indeed Giants fans. I'll always remember the looks on the Patriots' fans faces after Brady's final Hail Mary failed: people were just staring at the screens, mouths agape and eyes like saucers. Meanwhile, I and my new friends quietly celebrated amongst ourselves.

The ball was too high and out and if he got his hands on it, no way he comes down in-bounds with the momentum and angle of his jump. Samuel did well to even touch that ball. It was an amazing feat of athleticism on his part and a good job on Manning's to put the ball where it could not be intercepted. Additionally, the 91 decal was a tribute to a PATRIOTS defensive end who died saving his girlfriend after getting into a jet ski accident. Now with that being said, I'm sure they could've easily just slapped on the 21 for this game along with the 91, but they didn't for whatever reason, just keep note that they were honoring their own fallen teammate with that 91 and that they, in fact, DID wear both numbers at times. Watching this again after so many years I realized the Pats D was throwing everything at Eli, constant pressure in his face play after play, they earned every yard that last drive.
The TD to Plax was so surreal as I remember Eli floating one to the corner, my stomach in my throat and as the camera pans over I see Plax wide open and was just watching the ball float into his arms. Sat there dazed, so awesome.

For historical purposes, the 2007 New England Patriots had one of the biggest chokes in sports given the feats they had on the line including a perfect 19-0 season.
The game itself was a toss up because both defenses were solid. The 2016 Atlanta Falcons had a worse choke than the 2007 Pats for a single game along with the 1992 Houston Oilers against the Buffalo Bills.

I live in Indiana, so my family is all die hard Colts fans. Especially my brother, he idolized Peyton growing up. So therefor when Eli got drafted, the Giants became my favorite team. I didn’t really have one before then, as in ‘04 I was only 6 or 7. Also, I got a Tiki Barber poster at a book fair, and the Giants matched the colors of our high school team. So it all made sense for them to be my favorite 😂 but they have been ever since and I never once said otherwise. A few years ago I went to my first and only giants game, in Indy. We stayed at the same hotel all the players did. I saw and met a lot of them. My brother and I were the only ones not bothering them, and the only ones not pressing them for autographs. We appeared to be the only true fans, as everyone else was looking for something to get signed and sell. So some of the players chit chatted with us like Evan Engram, Wil Hernandez, Aldric Rosas (I know none of them are with the Giants now), and a few other O-line players. I did ask Janoris Jenkins for a picture and he said no. I tried talking to Sterling Shepherd, I was walking up to him and he must have seen me chatting with the other players, because he started my way and was about to dap me up, before a group of people start shoving stuff in his face. He gave me a look like “my bad man” so I said it’s all good lol. Front desk person told us the Eli and Saquon walked in together early in the morning and haven’t been through since. I then sat in a chair at the lobby and a few men in suits came and asked if they could sit there and I said yeah idc. Then a few more, and a few more. They then asked me if I could move, I said no. They kept talking. I was sitting right in the middle of them, they asked me to move again, I said no. Come to find out, it was the head coach at the time, the other position coaches, the GM, and owner. 😂 But then I saw the man. David Tyree. He walked by, and that’s when the real fans came out. People swarmed him, it was like seeing God almost. Obviously he wasn’t on the team at this time and hadn’t played in years, but he must’ve been traveling with them for whatever reason, I’m not sure. This was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I must add: so I’m a bigger guy, like 6’3”, and at the time I was like 250 pounds. I used to lift weights a lot but hadn’t in a while but I guess I somehow looked as if I was a player. I did have on an official Giants hoodie, and was dressed like most of them, and the fact that I was just hanging out with them, people got the idea that I was a player of some sort. I got asked for an autograph. So I said sure. They asked what position I played and I said “left out”. They took this as left outside linebacker? So I just yeah and went with it 😂
