My name is Charlie and I am disabled. I live with chronic illness, I have a severe form of Psoriatic Arthritis and its crap! I am in pain all the time and always battling fatigue. BUT, I will not let it win. I love to learn and to laugh (even though it hurts my arthritic rib cage LOL). You will often see Ollie (she) my black Labrador. She is currently my trainee assistance dog! We are together, literally ALL the time.

People need to remember that the PIP assessment is NOT to see what money the claimant is entitled to but rather for the DWP to see just how little they can get away with paying the claimant😔

A mistake I made was based on my character. I was 50 and very ‘proud’. I was trying to tell them how well I’m trying. Also how I use apps, timers, gadgets xx n so on. I hate describing how hopeless and handicapped I am.

@@mrlawilliamsukwarmachine4904 This is a quality that is installed in us growing up . Where people get praised for pushing through. Unfortunately, that does more harm than good, not just for pip assessment but your health in general. My chronic condition started when I was 29, I didn't even know there was something wrong untill I was talking to hospital for my asthma when they found this elevate enzyme in my blood. Prior to that I thought maybe I was just run down. But in high enough level the enzyme could cause full renal failure. The biggest mistake I made was a few months later where I had a good few days. I decided I could start back at the gym. As I always went after work daily. A 30 minutes lite. Work out had me floored for that entire week. As the years went on I had to stop working because I had no control over my pain or fatigue my tremors where getting worse. I had no idea of my limits . When I got my pip or dla as it was . I had help filling it in with citizen advice. What they explained you need to answer the questions based on your worse days. You also need to
Them , you cant just tell you have in my cases it was leg and arm tremors . You have to explain that because of these you struggle getting in and out-of the bathroom or getting up as in my case ive had a few falls, so they installed safely rails this goes for every question. Dont feel guilty about needing help. that's what it's their far. I spent most of my life helping others , never being off sick. So i understand the want to be independent . The first thing you need to do is come to terms with your disability accepting this as the new normal. Its very hard when society is taught to look down on anyone on benefits. Like we have some advantages. They dont know what our daily lifes are like. From my experience, my illness stolen all aspect of my life. Stole my career. My soical life. I stopped dating because the idea of being a burden on someone else or holding them back i just couldn't do that to someone else. If i had a choice of undoing it, i would jump at it. So try and fight the urge to say im ok when youre not ..because its ok not to be ok. I wish you all the best .

My husband tried to claim PIP, he had terminal mouth cancer, they refused him, he died before we could appeal, they messed us about for months. We had to use what little savings we had to pay, council tax, rent and utility bills, so come the funeral there wasnt a penny to pay for it, I can honestly say it was the lowest I had ever been in my life, I just wanted to die, and it was all because we couldn’t get help from anyone.

You are absolutely correct. I applied and got PIP with the mobility component by telling them how it affected me. Again you mentioned buttons, this was one of the questions I was aked about and told them I wear T-Shirts because I cannot do buttons. As you said, tell them the truth about it affects your daily routine, not about what you can do, but what you cannot do. Don't be afraid, tell the truth and you will succeed at the first attempt like me.

I have requested for the how my disability affects me form waited the full 10 working days and had nothing so gave them another call on the 13th day just to give them chance to come they never turned up so they supposedly sent another lot out and guess what the new 10 days are up today so i guess ill be back on the phone to them again its getting past a joke now. I found out that i have a crumbling disc after having my mri scan results back and i only had one after still having constant pain 10/10 daily even after getting over having a kidney stone for 6 months so even on my pain meds i have been prescribed still in constant pain and struggle with sleep every night. Im 27 and always done heavy lifting roles for work obviously had to leave that working life behind and still currently on the hunt for a new job but finding it extremely difficult for what im looking for. Sorry to everyone who suffers on a daily basis its not nice and or fun in any way and i hope you are ok dont suffer in silence.

Great video well done. As an advisor myself I have always told my clients to keep a bullet point diary from the day you call for your PIP form until the day you complete it, why? because you will only fill out the form on a good day and you need to recall your bad days. Also, have someone who knows you well when you complete the form and see if they agree with what you think you should be putting another persons perception can be helpful in this.

Hi Charlie, I found your channel thank you so much, I had a traumatic brain injury in Sep 2012, and was claiming via the DLA no issues, then once I was transferred over to PIP, I was fully rejected, approached the Citizens Advice, went to court with PIP, and it went in my favour, and the judge gave me 5 years. Last November but PIP review was in place, went straight to Citizens Advice this time, was rejected, went back to them, submitted again, rejected again (but given medium living allowance no mobility) we (citizens advice and I) appealed again they have until the end of February to come back to me, likelihood is I'll have to go to Court again. I am going to watch all your video's to look for tips to prepare for court. I'm most shocked they haven't given me enough points on mobility, and thats my biggest problem area (not in same position as you I know) but from a different angle. Clair x

It all comes down to if you’re getting an employment support allowance and if you receive severe disability premium or disability premium in your ESA if you don’t receive that they will not accept your PIP.
Also, the CAB, they get 25% for turning claims down and the involvement in that is DOCTORS social services your housing officers they take reports they use neighbours to spy on us and that’s what they do to turn down and claims I’ve had my experience. I have Motoneuron Disease. and I’m still down.
Everybody makes a cut from turning our claims down, especially DOCTORS they are liable for everything they make a report regardless what we fill in the PIP or the ESA assessments. DOCTOR has a great deal involvement in that DOCTOR den any claim because it comes out of the DOCTORS pocket.
In the olden days when you applied for anything you have to write to the government even for prescriptions what the government has done if you disable with conditions they pay the DOCTOR the whole amount the amount to spend on us but DOCTORS fiddle that and put it in their pockets how do I know this? Because I have a family member that works in these departments and therefore that’s how I found out my..
What they do is called NHS fraud.
I hope my information helps you.
      Thank you 🙏

I've wok many mandatory reckons and two tribunals, one judge even apologised for me being there are it was a "joke that pip had made me go this far".
I never trust pip I ALWAYS send their letters recorded and I also record any interviews. It's a faff getting the paperwork done to allow recording but we'll worth it.

'on a good day' on a good day, I have looked and re read my forms and think oh that poor person then realise thats me, its all true but because we live daily with our conditions everything becomes the norm. Its only when we have to think of life BEFORE that. oh and the bit about PIP guilting you .

  • @wildthing6668813
    @wildthing6668813 4 месяца назад +5

I always read the things in the media about being entitled to PIP with certain conditions and think that's BS because you can have every condition on the list and the assassin will fail you on your claim. I use the maps app on my phone if I go somewhere new that's local and will use it for about the first 20 times I go there. In some cases I use it more as I forget the directions and make wrong turns. I get out of breath just going to the bin to put a bag of rubbish in it. I use a mobility scooter whenever I go out.
I always send DWP forms by recorded signed for delivery so they cannot say they haven't received it, I put the form in the DWP envelope then in another envelope with the Address that was on the DWP envelope. If they ever said they haven't received it then I will send them a copy of the signature of the person who signed for it, the DWP use a mail opening unit, I think it's part of the royal mail but I can't be sure.

However like many I feel very much in 2 minds (speaking as someone who is Niro divergent and still waiting to see what is actually going on in my head) as to if I should put mla claim in. Both the job centre and citizens advice believe I should. But hearing some of what you say makes me feel like I don't qualify.

YES I'M SHOUTING THIS, I DON'T KNOW IS AN ACCEPTABLE ANSWER. One lawyer asked me how often I went to the housing office in a yearl, I said as and when I need to, "yes but how often is that"? 9 effing times, by the end I was hysterical. I survived horrific child abuse and neglect I thought the only person who could make me suicidal was dead and buried, I was wrong. His final stab was "if it takes you so long to get anywhere why do you bother"? It took me a little over 3 years to get strong enough emotionally to leave the house.

DWP ask for evidence in the letter they ask for prescription slips and GP letters however I advise my clients to just print off their GP record if they have patient access online which will just list all their diagnoses, last week during a review of a claim the assessor stated they had no evidence of some of the condition? despite it being submitted 2yrs prior, also for the first time ever we got asked about driving and pets,i agree dont waffle on however the assessor can sometimes linger on the same question asking it in different ways

So now I’m dreading finding out how much my pip will be decreased. I am going through the process of being assessed for cptsd but I won't have that diagnosis for months so I'm guessing I can't use anything from that??

You most certainly CAN use it on the form, you can state that you are currently under assessment for the condition and / or that you are seeking or awaiting diagnosis for it... PIP is NOT about what you have been diagnosed with... It is about what symptoms you have and how they affect your ability to live a normal every-day life. naming a condition only gives them the opportunity to better understand what symptoms you have and what you are going through medically.
      Good Luck :D

A very good friend of mine struggled through the pip process, she got there in the end and the best bit of advice she gave me was fill out the form based your answers on your worse day ever. It worked eventually and they back dated from when I first claimed. I was assessed at home 1st time, she did not ask me about cooking at all but she marked me down saying I was able to cook, she asked me nothing about walking outside of the house, indoors I furniture surf, out side I use walking sticks, she said I could walk 50 metres easily, I went from zero scores on several occasions to passing with 'Flying colours ' when I went to tribunal. 2 days before it went to tribunal I was suddenly awarded higher rate in both sections. I had nothing to loose, I was stronger willed then than I am now, but I would not wish this process on my worst enemy. Thankyou for doing what you do. Your are their guardian Angel. Bless you x🎉😊

Former PIP assessor here. Good info in this film. Just want to add extra reassurance that assessors are trained to work in your favour. The DWP actually fines the PIP company £16000 if we underscore you. And tgats for one claim. There's no monetary award for rejecting claims. However, we can usually figure out when claimants are over reporting (exaggerating). Advice: Send evidence to support what you're reporting. You cannot tell us you're in excruciating pain every day, when you're only taking over the counter paracetamol with no specialist input etc. Also, contrary to popular belief, most claims are successful.
I underscored someone once and I had to explain myself in a horrible interview with 2 managers present. It was awful.

Asked my husband to walk across the room and left. My husband was already on the lower rate. He has had a stroke. Has serious heart failure, diabetes and thyroid problems. This foreigner gave him not a single point! Of course, I'm not someone to mess with and wrote a letter that was less than pleasant, insisting they reconsider their decision.
