    Ive watched your videos for a little over a year now, despite not being vegan. I maintain good diet, but I don't work out nearly as much as I should. Starting tomorrow I'll be attempting to workout at least 5 days a week, and go completely vegan. Thanks for the inspiration. Keep cranking out great videos my guy : )

When I started a new job that consumed more of my time we stoped because I didn't have time on the weekend to do all the meal prepping that I used to. These videos made me realize I don't have to make elaborate meals. It is all about making a variety of flavorful sauces to keep meals interesting. Now during the week we usually just eat kale, tofu, and sweet potato and all of the flavor comes from fresh herbs and spices I blend up together. Also, my workouts are feeling great. You have really helped on my start at a vegan diet. I am three weeks into it and can already see a reduction in inflammation and joint pain. I am 54 with bad knees. I would really love to see some workouts that I could possibly do. Anything sitting with weights for my upper body, extremely low impact to my knees, a gentle, but movement workout that I can still get some cardio benefits from. I have a number of coworkers and friends who are in their 50s and early 60s and are looking for the same things. I get in about 8000 steps a day, but that is about all I’m doing so far. Just looking for the next step I need to take, which is exercise, and I want to regain some physical strength that I have lost. I listen to your videos every morning as I get dressed and they get me on track for the day as far as my thinking for nutrition. Much thanks for the information and motivation! Great video!
    An health tip I got from someone else:
    never mix food in an aluminum pot with an aluminium spoon, it will inevitably scratch the pot releasing aluminum particles into the food. Unfortunately aluminum is incredibly easy to scratch.
    As soon as it will come in contact with your stomach acid, it will make it a bit more alkaline, worsening your digestion (interferring with the sodium-potassium pump).
    Wooden spoons are best for cooking.

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  4 года назад

    Is there any meals you would recommend to cook in bulk for the week and most people don't have to time cook every meal.
    Thanks 👍

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  4 года назад +16

      I get that. What I usually do (or did when I was commuting to work and school) would be to cook a whole bunch of rice, beans, lentils, sweet potato, etc. the stuff that provides a lot of calories but takes a while to cook, then put that in the fridge and just make quick meals with that. It doesn't take long to throw some greens and chop veggies into a tupperwear container, then add the stuff you already cooked, throw some sauerkraut on there, maybe some hemp seeds or something, then some leftover sauce from last night and bam, you are the envy of everyone in the lunch room.

    How many thousand calories do you typically eat? I am an ex runner too and I've just started back at the gym, but I'm not a big eater. I can't image eating bowls of food that big as I don't usually have much of an appetite. I'm hoping the workouts will make me hungry in general and my appetite increases.

  • @glory6822

    So how do you train fasted if you have beet root? Does it not break your fast?

    • @Simnettnutrition
      @Simnettnutrition  4 года назад +3

      Hmm good call. You might be right, it probably does technically break my fast, but it sure doesn't feel like it. There is no nutrition label on this (I guess because it's a supplement) so I couldn't tell ya how many calories/carbs it has. I can tell if I have something like some banana or a date I definitely feel different. I guess "working out on an empty stomach" would have been more accurate. It isn't very sweet so I wouldn't imagine it contains much carbs or energy, but good call on that one.

      Simnett Nutrition Just thought I’d ask! Beets aren’t crazy high in calories, so might be in the clear! Either way; if you’re getting benefits from it, that’s more important 😁

    Hey Derek, I’ve been following your for a few years now. Big fan. The onions...when you chop them, skip the first horizontal cut that you make. You just need the vertical cuts and then the final one across and it’ll dice just fine. Saves you a step.
