    I’m from the Uk and use UK terms but your tutorials are so easy to follow and look so lovely that I don’t know what to start first.
    I taught myself through RUclips to crochet this summer 2023.
    Really glad I found your channel.

    Beautiful. I’m an absolute beginner at crocheting. I can do a chain and that’s about it but I’ve been watching loads of tutorials for beginners just to get used to the terminology and see how all the different stitches are worked. I’m from the Scotland in the UK but since all the best tutorials, like this one, are from the US, it will be US stitches I will be working lol. Thank you very much for another great tutorial. You have a great way of explaining things and I’m going to attempt my first granny square. I’m not confident enough to attempt the blanket so I’ll try a wee granny square to start with, see how I go. x

      Wonderful! Well, if you start with a wee granny square, then add just one more round...and then another...and then another...next thing you know, you will have made your first blanket!!! Both blanket tutorials you've found here are perfect for beginners, but the other one you commented on is probably easier than this one. Have fun!

    I can't wait to try this. I have a large afgan I am challenging myself to make. I wasnt looking forward to counting hundreds of stitches as I work through. This could be perfect. Definitely going to try it. I know how to dc I like the simplicity of the repeat pattern. Thank you for a good video.

      You're welcome! And the lovely thing about this pattern is that you can make it as large as you like. I love repeating and simple patterns...it's more relaxing :) Enjoy!

    Thank you so much for this video! I am a beginner and your tutorial was super easy to follow. I’m loving how my blanket is coming out. I wanted to ask: is there any way to make the blanket more long than wide? I wanted it to be big enough for an adult to use it as a throw, but I didn’t want it to be super wide. Any tips? I look forward to doing more projects from your videos ❤️

      I'm so glad! The only way to make it longer would be to add rows of the granny square stitch to each end. You'd join new yarn in a corner space with a slip stitch. Chain 3 and do 2 double crochets into the same corner space, chain 1 and do 3 dc in the next chain 1 sp. You'd work back and forth this way. If you search for how to crochet the granny square stitch in rows, rather than in rounds it will show you how to do this. I also have a tutorial on how to make a rectangle-shaped blanket here: ruclips.net/video/rvx3Wt0sGuM/видео.html Have fun!

      You can find more details on this pattern in the blog post (including the size which is 27" x 27"). I do recommend checking out the blog post as there are some useful pointers there. This pattern is very adaptable and you can make the blanket any size you like. Just continue with more rounds! patriciafentie.com/2019/07/17/how-to-crochet-a-small-granny-square-blanket/

    I followed this tutorial and the edges turned out curvy and the center square looked off center! why?

    • @createandcrochetwithpatricia
      @createandcrochetwithpatricia  2 года назад

      That will be an issue with tension (how you hold your hook and allow the yarn to flow through your hands.) I do talk about the possibility of tension issues at the bottom of the written blog post and offer a solution to that: patriciafentie.com/2019/07/17/how-to-crochet-a-small-granny-square-blanket/
      I also have a tutorial on RUclips on how to manage crochet tension: ruclips.net/video/PxAVTN_T3mk/видео.html
      You may be able to block the blanket in order to straighten it out somewhat. Wash it in cold water and lay it flat to dry, shaping it with your hands. If you have a foam board, you can use pins to hold it in shape as it dries. I hope this helps!

    can you tell me if your using a #4 and your trying to make a larger blanket how man skeins you'd need I have an idea for a blanket but i want to make it bigger than a lap blanket. tyia

      Here is the written pattern that gives you all the yardage used, so you can calculate it from there. I did find the the Caron Cakes yarn was on the finer side of a number 4 weight yarn, so it really depends on what yarn you choose. To make the blanket bigger, just continue to repeat the rounds until it is to the size you like! Then finish with the final border round. Enjoy! patriciafentie.com/2019/07/17/how-to-crochet-a-small-granny-square-blanket/

    I can't hear the audio without the use of earbuds and I am very disappointed because I really wanted to learn this stitch, badly.. I wish you'd reconsider making a new video that goes slower with better focus, on the actual stitches and which holes and yarn overs. I've been crocheting for many years. 40 or more, and I have never found a good slow tutorial on Granny square.

      I'm sorry to hear that. I did check the volume and it is the same as the advertisements, so I'm not sure why you can't hear it. Did you know that you can slow down the video by going to settings (the little gear-shaped icon) below the video and set it to .75 or less. This helps a lot with the speed!
