gotta say THANKS FOR POSTING THIS my wife and i were only 7 and 11 when this aired, but we LOVED watching and feeling nostalgic --- especially with the commercials!!!! CHEERS NAUGHTY NATE!!!!
Was it in late 1983 or 1984 when the natural triple jackpot was hit for a huge sum (maybe the largest of all or if not then possibly somewhere around the $20K or $25K range)? All I can remember is it was a male contestant who I believe had maybe brown hair, and this will be an odd description, but every time he smiled, it looked like the light reflected off his teeth. I believe he hit it towards the end of the show, and the category he hit it on had a solid yellow background. I’m not sure if it was Fast Forward or something else, but when he hit it, it took awhile for Jack to name everything he had won, and after that, from what I think I remember, he answered his question correctly and won the game. They didn’t have time to play the bonus, though. It was played on the next show. I was trying to see if that episode might be on RUclips somewhere.
I just added this episode on my channel! The girl in the “no devil” shirt, his daughter, is my wife! ;) ruclips.net/video/DEJaBzpR4Bg/видео.htmlsi=kaZpaKGz8iHiuEo9
I read your experience in the description. Game show contestant is on my bucket list. Gotta love the electronics commercial. How technology has changed. I wish you and the Mrs. several years together. Congrats on your few minutes of fame.
Dear Nathanael, Thank You for uploading the video. I remember watching this game show every night as a kid with my mom and dad. It came on at 9pm in my area. Loved how you told your story in the description. TY again and glad you had a good time!
That was my favorite game show back in 1984 when I turned 13 2 months later I missed that game show The joker's wild tic-tac-toe classic concentration and my other all time favorite game show press your luck with the late wink Martindale
On the contrary,It didn't fail.Snoop Dogg was awesome as the Joker's Wild host,So stylish, rhythmic and awesome to contestants and the audience. I hope they bring that version back and retain Snoop as host.
5:00 the Bumper for SelecTV (and its rival, ONTV) is how in the late 70s & Early 80s, TV networks tried to weasel people out of an extra 30-40$ a month to watch one TV channel. To do this, for the primetime of a TV channel's airtime, the station would scramble their programming so you couldn't watch it without a special box that descrambled the signal. HOWEVER, people figured out how to make their own descrambler box and could watch the channels for free, so these channels eventually went bankrupt.
Eyehate Phukingoogel: Not sure about them, but the dragon always made me laugh with that "Urrrr" sound. Thought the lightning was cool. Just that devil looked so angry and evil.I remember looking away from the TV during the bonus round unless I applause after a spin. If I heard "Awwww", I'd cover my eyes until the next round started.
Jeff F Look closely, the devil in the bonus round has a slight resemblance to Jack Barry, I noticed that many years later. Heehee. No knock against him, I just notice minor details. Too bad he didn't live on, the show would have lasted the rest of the 1980's without a doubt.
7:16 in... cue in *TPiR Splendido* cue. After the mistake of the "bonus game win" theme... at 9:40, cue in the "bonus game win" cue from Tic Tac Dough.
Man I was a lil white kid who loved watching this show around 84 era. I'm imagining rooting for u back then lmao. Great show. That and Tic Tac Dough. !!
James (or as he was known for a while in the mid-80's "Jamie") Widdoes, to be sure. He was on a week of the Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour that same year, which aired recently on Buzzr. He's now directing television. He's done most of the episodes for "Mom."
Jack seemed a lot more enthusiastic in the later years of the show. I suspect it was because he realized that the public had forgiven him for his involvement in the quiz show scandals of the 1950's.
Those handpays (similar to those on the slot machines if you rack up $1,200 or more, especially in the bonus spins) were strictly for show, though you would be mailed out a check for the total cash winnings.
Does anyone out there has a copy of the 1986 jokers wild game shoe audience contestant Klynn funston I can't find the episode an we were in la when it was recorded I would love to show it to two grandsons thank you if you could help me out please
But at the time of his death, Jack Barry had taped enough episodes to run through the summer. His successor, Bill Cullen, didn't begin working on "Joker's Wild" until late summer 1984, with his first episode airing in September.
Good show. Love them black people. Kenny Roger's in that commercial was priceless. Rip Kenny thanks for the memories and bringing a piece of sunshine to our lives
I watched your episode of The Joker's Wild and I knew the answers to the categories that were used like Business and Industry when he asked a certain question about a certain aircraft with the clue of 707, the State Capitols, Fast Forward Politics.
Yes, Nate. More than any other producers, it seemed like Barry and Enright's shows made the contestants act forced. For example, as a contestant listens to Charlie describe the prize package in the bonus game, they ALWAYS look into the camera and are ALWAYS surprised by what they are hearing. You confirmed these details, and, believe it or not, it is endlessly facilitating to me as a game show junkie. It confirmed my suspicions. I was 8 when this aired, and I probably watched this as a kid. Thanks so much for sharing.
I see the Kenny Rogers collection commercial at 13:00, and I'm thinking that you order by credit card by phone, or your pay by check by mail, but in this day and age, you do it with an E-Commerce site.
Yes! This was from around 1984 and it was his final year of the show. He died of heart failure, and Bill Cullen was his replacement and he remained for three years until 1986.
In Southern California they would play Scooby-Doo, jokers wild followed by tic tac dough!!!! Good times....I believe three's company for the night cap.
Can you email BUZZER TV to put on The Jokers Wild because BUZZER haven’t put on The Jokers Wild yet. Also Tic Tac Dough, Bullseye, Play The Percentages, and Hot Potato.
Those are Barry & Enright Production shows which I'm assuming was like an arch rival to Goodson-Todman at the time. Can Fremantle (who owns Buzzr & has shows primarily owned only by Goodson-Todman) acquire rights to Barry & Enright? That's a tough call, but I'd say they're making an honest effort especially with their acquisition of Al Howard productions (Supermarket Sweep) 2 years ago and a survey they put out just a few months ago asking what people would like to see.
Zach, You sound like a fan! I didn't know it went that high! I was no place close to it was I? I thought for a moment I had it when I got that 3 Jokers! Jacks reminded me of 3 categories ~~~but for a moment ~~~ I have a feeling you were either a contestant or worked in the industry~~~ thanks for your comments
Jack at 9:39: "Twenty five, fifty, you got it!" He says "You got it" before the last window stops spinning. This makes me wonder if he knew which window the devil was in, otherwise he wouldn't have jumped the gun. Anyone else?
16:08. Although it's certainly probable that Pot Luck would've been chosen, I find it odd that Television disappears before the choice is actually made.
If he won the prize package worth some $4100 plus the $1075 in cash, that's about $5175 total but they said he won cash and prizes worth $4700. What gives?
"From the kaufman-astoria studios stage-c in millerville-city luzerne-county ioml this is the game where knowledge is king & lady-luck is queen it's the joker's wild & now here's our host jack-barry".
I loved this show when I was a kid. My parents did not as they looked at Jack Barry as a crook from the game show scandals, but I didn't care. I also love Jack's red Captain Kangaroo jacket.
One of the promos mentions "channel 9," and you could tell this was recorded off Los Angeles TV. I know Tic Tac and Joker left KHJ-TV (9) for KCOP (13) in fall of 1981. I knew the shows did return to channel 9 at some point, but I always thought that happened when Bill took over. When exactly did the two shows move back?
***** Makes sense. KHJ's NYC sister station, WOR-TV, got both shows back from WCBS after a few years in 1984 as well, but they didn't move back there until the start of the season, when Bill took over.
Did JACK Berry/Dan Enright produce the game called Hot 🥵🔥 Potato 🍠🥔 on Nbc and didn't Jack pass away during the taping of this show and he loved to be at all the tapings?
This morning, I was watching Press Your Luck on BUZZER, and played this episode of The Jokers Wild, and I was pretending that I was playing Devil vs. Whammy, and it’s played like this, when a Devil shows up on one of the three window whiles, the player in that episode of The Jokers Wild lose the prizes and the trip to Rio desanaero, but the Devil didn’t show up so the player in that episode won the prizes, and the trip to Rio Desanaero, and if you would have voted for the Devil to win, you would have won a trip to Rio Desanaero, and that episode of Press Your Luck, that player lost a trip to Washington D. C., and a trip to New Orleans by getting a Whammy, and if you would have voted for the Whammy to win, would have won the trip to Washington D. C., and the trip to New Orleans, and the trips are always the biggest ones then the other prizes. I know Sony still owns Berry and Enright, and Bob Steward, and Freemamsol owns BUZZER, and Goodmen and Todmen, but is there any way that Freemansol would ask for a contract from Sony so BUZZER will do The Devil vs. Whammy hour by showing The Jokers Wild, and Press Your Luck?
Jack Barry died 5/2/84 at the age of 66. When were you on the show in 1984? Nate it's nice you got to meet this great guy before he passed away. Too bad you never went on that trip to Brazil.

I wish you and the Mrs. several years together. Congrats on your few minutes of fame.
RIP Jack Barry and Charlie O Donnell
Jokers Wild was my favorite game show as a kid - thank you for posting this! And congrats on your winnings!! :^)
Of all of the quiz shows in my childhood, the Joker's Wild and Now You See It asked the easiest questions.
Not always, there's usually very difficult ones.
The cue playing at 7:57 for the Rio trip...I'd love to get a hold of a clean copy of that.
I used to love this game show in the 80s
I can remember the host saying Joker, Joker, Joker.
@30:04, sounds like Jack Narz announcing for that C&R Clothiers commercial.
Dear Nathanael,
Thank You for uploading the video. I remember watching this game show every night as a kid with my mom and dad. It came on at 9pm in my area.
Loved how you told your story in the description. TY again and glad you had a good time!
What a great story! Its good to find out about the contestants. I enjoyed watching your video!
I'll never forget that commercial, where's the beef?, I was 13 years old then.
Jack died of a heart attack May 2, 1984... so he passed not long after these two shows were taped. :-( I hope he went and partied with Ophelia.
It was replaced by Bill Cullen as the host of the “Joker’s Wild” later that year where he remained for three years until the show ended in 1986.
Wow😮
Thanks for posting this Nate love the commercials also
This is so much better with one of the "Where's the Beef?" commercials, although it's not the original.
LOVE THE WAY HE HANDS OUT CASH
TODAYS SHOWS DONT DO THAT
That was my favorite game show back in 1984 when I turned 13 2 months later I missed that game show The joker's wild tic-tac-toe classic concentration and my other all time favorite game show press your luck with the late wink Martindale
that is cool. they need to bring this back to tv.
They did with snoop Dogg as host
@@MrShadowknight2000 And failed after two short seasons.
On the contrary,It didn't fail.Snoop Dogg was awesome as the Joker's Wild host,So stylish, rhythmic and awesome to contestants and the audience. I hope they bring that version back and retain Snoop as host.
Used to love this game show. Too bad it isn't on anymore.
Oh my God, those commercials.
So awesome that you have a record of this special event in your life.

loved this show when I was a kid...the devil always scared the shit out of me. lol
John Springart yeah, it was very frightening!!!!!👿
ME TOO!!!!
John Springart Did the Tic Tac Dough dragon, and the lightning from Bullseye scare you too?
Eyehate Phukingoogel: Not sure about them, but the dragon always made me laugh with that "Urrrr" sound. Thought the lightning was cool. Yes! This was from around 1984 and it was his final year of the show. He died of heart failure, and Bill Cullen was his replacement and he remained for three years until 1986.
Yeah, watching this definitely shows that the audio and video aren’t always in sync, bet I didn’t notice it on my tiny B&W tv
Jack Barry died the year this game was played RIP
This syndicated version was on KCOP 13.
"You don't look disabled"? I have PTSD and if I had a dollar for each time I heard that from someone I wouldn't need a disability pension!
wow ! i remember the Kenny Rogers album ad playing A LOT that year especially in that time slot
actually i later got that Kenny Rogers Greatest Hits album on cassette tape from good ole Columbia House around 1988/89 lol
In Southern California they would play Scooby-Doo, jokers wild followed by tic tac dough!!!! Good times....I believe three's company for the night cap.
Whatever happened to Coloralls? Amy of Big Bang Theory probably wears them...

I was a regular watcher of TJW as a kid, so I loved this. But, Mr. Jackson, as someone from Maine, I am aghast, sir!
The Natural Triple jackpot Jack mentions at the top of the first show got to $26K in this season before it was hit.
Zach, You sound like a fan! I didn't know it went that high! I was no place close to it was I?
I thought for a moment I had it when I got that 3 Jokers! Jacks reminded me of 3 categories ~~~but for a moment ~~~
I have a feeling you were either a contestant or worked in the industry~~~
thanks for your comments
Nope, a lot of us recent fans have never worked in the industry- it's just the power of the Internet that lets us retain all this game show knowledge.
Jack at 9:39: "Twenty five, fifty, you got it!" He says "You got it" before the last window stops spinning. This makes me wonder if he knew which window the devil was in, otherwise he wouldn't have jumped the gun. Anyone else?
Yes, he never stopped rigging!
16:08. Although it's certainly probable that Pot Luck would've been chosen, I find it odd that Television disappears before the choice is actually made.
Looking at this video, I believe the sound and video were out of sync.
I never got to see the CBS version, but the syndicated shows aired on WOR-TV 9 before the second W was added.
If he won the prize package worth some $4100 plus the $1075 in cash, that's about $5175 total but they said he won cash and prizes worth $4700. What gives?
Did you try Press Your Luck?
I always found it funny on these game shows how the audience has nothing to lose and tell the contest to the keep going and they usually do
Disco and aerobics ... I wonder which one would last longest?!
Was Jack Berry very nice in person at the time Nate?
The game show and Jack Barry didn't suck, the technical stuff that messed up sucked. He's one of the greatest hosts ever.
I was picked out of the audience in Feb, 1984 unable to find a copy. My grandmother was with me.
"From the kaufman-astoria studios stage-c in millerville-city luzerne-county ioml this is the game where knowledge is king & lady-luck is queen it's the joker's wild & now here's our host jack-barry".
Friday 5/2 is the 30th anniversary of Jack Barry's appearance as a contestant on the May 2, 1984 episode of Celebrity BUcket Kickers.
Who would have thought that Jack Barry would have passed away so soon! Do you remember exactly when this was filmed/aired?
Man I loved this show as a kid + still DO! Jack is great!!!!
I loved this show when I was a kid. My parents did not as they looked at Jack Barry as a crook from the game show scandals, but I didn't care. I also love Jack's red Captain Kangaroo jacket.
Weekdays at 11 AM I rather watch The Joker's Wild instead of The Price Is Right because I don't watch that no more.
John Fenner March 5, 1984.
***** Makes sense. KHJ's NYC sister station, WOR-TV, got both shows back from WCBS after a few years in 1984 as well, but they didn't move back there until the start of the season, when Bill took over.
Both were owned by RKO General. The "General" part was from General Tire.
Yep.
Barry & Enright got more NBC stations to carry TTD and TJW in 1984 to remove a CBS-imposed winnings limit that was imposed on both shows.
Jack Barry died 5/2/84 at the age of 66. When were you on the show in 1984? Nate it's nice you got to meet this great guy before he passed away. Too bad you never went on that trip to Brazil.
LATER JACK WAS REPLACED WITH BILL CULLEN AS THE HOST AND THIS WAS IN ,1984.
Naughty Nathan?!
Julie the secretary.
Jack and Wink were great hosts
Select TV has "Playboy" wow i remember that being such BIG deal in my teen days in the 80s if a friend's family had that ..flash forward to 2023 and thats absolutely NOTHING now lol
I saw a live taping back in the 70’s
The Joker's Wild should return.
Snoop Dogg is doing a Reboot of the show in 2017
It actually did. So has the devil!
@@bigdaddyharm Sadly, it bombed. It was just as bad as Hip-Hop Squares.
It came back in 1990. After a rough start, it straightened up, but wound up not making it. That 2017 comeback didn't need to happen.
They can't make stuff this good
Joker, joker and a triple!
what was the original airdate of this episode
Maybe March 5, 1984 or later?
HEY DIDDLE DIDDLE....PERKINS UP THE MIDDLE! GO COWBOYS (Don Perkins Fullback 1960's Ring of Honor)
You're naughty Nate? I was rooting for you.
I always wanted 2B an RN but I am a DJ of sorts.
Walk up cue for the devil was different as well.... and no win cue for when he went over the top.
Do you remember the taping dates of the shows you were on? BTW, it's Jack 'Barry', not 'Berry'.
I read about this shows secrets. There were dudes in the back that had total control of the Devil....when a pretty girl especially the correct color got on a roll, the Devil was put on hold. True story.
Wheres the beef? 39:00
I heard once that this was John Wayne's favorite game show !!
I always wondered what happened to him
O-feel-ya lol
I LIKED THIS SHOW.
WHILE HE WAS PRODUCING THIS SHOW,TIC TAC DOUGH,AND HOT POTATO HE DIED.HE ALSO DIED WHEN THIS SHOW WAS ON THE AIR.
Ophilia?
Nathan you did excellent and what happened to the prizes that you won on the joker wild. 😀👍
I DON.T KNOW WHAT WAS BILL.S FIRST EPISODE OF THE JOKER.S WILD AND HIS LAST EPISODE OF THE JOKER.S WILD.I FOUND OUT THAT JACK.S FIRST EPISODE OF THE JOKER. S WILD WAS SEPTEMBER 4TH 1972.SEPTEMBER 4TH 1972 WAS ALSO LABOR DAY AND ALSO THE PREMIERE DATE OF THE JOKER.S WILD.

Was this right before Jack Barry's death?
Yes, he died in May of 1984.
"You've been drinking pretty heavy" ... The ads are as great as the game show
"The world's be fit. Chic!"
JACK BARRY IS THE HOST AND CHARLIE O.DONNELL IS THE ANNOUNCER.
I bet Nate got naughty in Rio lol
OPhella and a roach clip, can see it now...LOL
I want that Kenny Rogers Greatest Hits album for 200, Alex.
Lmao that chic commercial was epic as hell
Does jack-barry knows that he has gene-rayburn's microphone.
Everybody counts out the money when he pays the money. XD A devil-less show this one. Why is this show the only show in history with the funky-looking microphone?
are you referring to Jack's mike? Many shows of the 70s ad 80s used this microphone, the Sony ECM, including the classic Gene Rayburn version of The Match Game, and Bob Barker used a retracted version of the mike on TPIR during the first two decades.
Shane Elitis And other emcees used it...Jim Perry on Card Sharks, Bob Eubanks on Trivia Trap, Alex Trebek on Double Dare, Tom Kennedy on the nighttime TPIR, Wink Martindale on Tic Tac Dough used one also. Monty Hall on Beat the Clock used one, Geoff Edwards on Treasure Hunt, it was a good sounding quality device. Heck, even look at some of the early 70's Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS. Those microphones were used in some appearances also.
Yep All true. also Monty also used it on his Canadian game show "The Jokes on Us" and when LMAD was revived in 2003 Billy Bush used it.
Forgot to mention in my comment: Bert Convy on his first several months of "Tattletales".
