One of my top ten favorite retro game shows.
I remember the rug doctor and Coit Stanley steamer
Steaming mad at dirt.
23:10 - WXON (now WMYD), channel 20 in Detroit; Joker's Wild was formerly on WDIV.
This was the first season Bill Cullen hosted after Jack Barry died of a heart attack. After 2 years Bill hosted, The Jokers Wild along with Tic Tac Dough ended their long runs in 1986. At the time this series ended, The Jokers Wild disappeared from many markets since 1983 or '84.
You can thank the cancellation of BULLSEYE as well as the arrival of Nighttime Family Feud being stripped to 5 nights a week, the arrivals of PM Magazine, Entertainment Tonight and The Original People's Court with Judge Wapner, the Nighttime Version of Wheel of Fortune with Pat & Vanna (still going strong on NBC Daytime), The Original Love Connection with Chuck Woolery, Sally Jesse Raphael, the revived JEOPARDY! with Alex Trebek and the announcement of The Oprah Winfrey Show coming to TV spelled the end of The Joker's Wild & Tic Tac Dough
after TJW & TTD came to an end, we saw the arrival of The All New Dating Game with Elaine Joyce following the success of The NEW Newlywed Game with Bob Eubanks and Mama's Family entered syndication after It's a Living successfully entered syndication
also, the 85/86 season, Wink Martindale left TTD for Headline Chasers a series from the creator of JEOPARDY! & Wheel of Fortune and Jim Caldwell became the new host of TTD with a brand new set
Jack and Bill always seemed to miss the natural triples in the bonus round until all the music and lighting started up.
I remember in 1984 they still did the close ups of the devil when a player got it in the bonus round when I was 2
Reggie sporting the 80s Jerry curl 😂😁
🎶Soul Glo🎶
Do you have any Jokers Wild from the 70"s ( the Barry era) with commercials as well as other game shows from that era?
That's Seth Green in the White Cloud commercial after the show. The kid went on to have a pretty impressive career, all things considered!
Just for your information about the viking Chevrolet commercial the guy that is selling the car is non other than dave campo the famous yelling car sales man he even got interviewed by David letterman .... I did my research
Thanks for sharing this!
November 1, 1984
I don’t know why but the reels getting stuck and slides falling out scared me just as much as the devil.
23:44 - that and seeing the arm function automatically at the touch tone phone - that was CREEPY!
This season aired on USA from April 1, 1985-early 1986, this season never aired on GSN
