I want to share a tip that would help to regulate the alternating 'presser feet' of a Pfaff 1245-706 if for some reason is misadjusted.

Buenos Dias Señor! I own a domestic Pfaff 1222E which is about 30 years old. It is a fine example of German engineering and I dearly love that machine. I was pleased to see the Pfaff name and had to ask: With all of the excellent industrial machines on the market - Juki, Consew, etc., is there a reason you chose this Pfaff machine over all of your other options?
I understand that these days the brand Pfaff is owned by a holding company and the machines are actually manufactured by a different company in China. What advice can you offer me about your decision?
Hi Cesar can you help me with a problem. After I compete a stitch, I lift up my foot, put I can't remove my fabric because the top thread keeps getting twisted on the bottom thread and won't pull away from the machine. Am I doing something wrong? Can you show me a video about how to stop this from happening again. Thanks.

Thank you for explaining this in such a simple way. I've been trying to get my consew 206rb-5 adjusted but the manual is very confusing, you make it very easy explaining to set the inner foot down on the feed dog just as the feed dog comes up. Thanks again.

Thank you for the informative video again. I have a question in regards to materials like vinyl or a nice finish on leather. How do you prevent the pressure foot from leaving markings? I noticed the grey vinyl had some marks.
It is advisable to regulate the 'pressure spring' if sewing soft materials. Those indentations disappear after the sewing unless excessive pressure.
If we would devoted to sew very thin material the advice is to sew with plain presser feet with no teeth.

I have a different machine, but all of the parts involved seem to operate similarly. I believe the inner/small foot may be adjusted too low. It will occasionally 'bind up' right when the small foot hits the feed dog (not all the time, maybe about once every 3-5 stitches). When I slightly press the knee lift lever, the feed dog and small foot snap upwards and it's easy to sew again. Do you think this adjustment would fix this problem? Thank you so much!
Hello Michael, I've realized that when the 'feed dog' is still hidden but 'ready' at the point for its movement upwards that's when the 'small foot' should be touching the 'needle plate', therefore that's the moment to tighten the bolts of adjustment. Otherwise, we would sew with a forced 'walking-foot mechanism'.

Hello chet, I have no video on a consew 206rb-1, sorry. I only would say mechanisms and procedures are similar in most of all industrial, walking foot sewing machines.

If you watch min five:22 of this video you will see there is an 'hexagonal bolt/philips head'...this bolt loosens or frees the 'big and small feet' to be regulated. Adjustment procedure is similar to pfaff 1245.

Tengo un problema ojalá me pudiera ayudar ... tengo una maquina yamata fk5318 y funciona muy bien es casi nueva el problema que tengo es que esa máquina tiene un retorno de aceite desde enfrente hacia el depósito (lubricación automática) y por algún motivo no está funcionando ósea el aceite se rebalsa y baña la aguja hay que estarlo sacando si ud tiene alguna información que me ayude muchas gracias

I do not have a video but the process is similar. To start out the two presser feet should be down in the lower position. As a matter of fact, the regulation is done with the front small foot. This small foot should become loose after loosening a small related bolt on top in the rear part of the machine head. The next step will be the regulation that consists in getting the 'unison feed'.
The big rear foot is touching the bottom in the back, the front small foot is loose, so I can move it with my hand up and down. Let's forget this for a while and concentrate ourselves in the movement of the feed dog.
If I move(by hand) the big machine wheel the feed dog hides under the plate and after moving forwards it 'it appears' on top to the plate level. it is waiting its movement backwards to drag material(vinyl, leather) if so. The head of the needle to the needle's eye level should be pierced through the plate's hole. This is the moment the small front foot should be touching the feed dog. It is the moment to tighten the bolt (two bolts for the Pfaff)which should be on the top side of the machine head.
Three components in unison feed the feed dog in upper position waiting to travel backwards, the needle tip to its eye level crossing the plate's hole and the small foot pressing the feed dog.
If I continue moving the big wheel frontwards these three elements travel making the big rear foot lift to release the material it was pressing down.

Si es una Pfaff de triple arrastre 1245-706/47. Si ha salido buena la máquina, la compré usada, estaba desajustada, creo que por eso la vendían. Estas máquinas salieron en los setentas. Las Juki industriales de triple arrastre son muy buenas también. La marca Consew triple arrastre también es muy reconocida.

The maximum stitch length for this model is 6 mm long. The new version Pfaff 1245 has a 8 mm stitch length.
It is possible to lenghten the stitch length if working on its eccentric mechanism.

do i have to adjust my consew 206 like this when sewing leather from 4 layers to 8 layers?
I only did the standard adjustment for this model of machine. I sewed the 8 layers of leather just to show the use of the 'wing nut' in the rear. In real upholstery practice it is not necessary to sew so many layers.

My machine is identical to yours. I have been trying to find a binder attachment. Most of the ones I find are on Ebay. The listing clearly say they are for Pfaff 1245 but no real explanation on how it mounts to the machine. Normally I would just give it a try but these parts are from China and are difficult to return if wrong. Do you have a binder and if so may I ask where you bought it?
As we can see in these pictures there are several components such as a new binder plate and feeder set (feed dog). The new feed dog has a little hole at front where a pin should pivot.

When I adjust the wing nut all the way up (highest foot setting) the walking feet bind and “clunk” and drop down when sewing. Putting the foot height about midway fixes this problem. Any advice?
Trying and imagining to figure out the issue of your machine. I have not had that problem on my machine. I do not understand why the feet bind while the wing nut is in the highest position for thicker materials. Perhaps the threads of the wing nut are rubbed off and do not tighten the fixed bolt enough.
I cannot find another reason because this mechanism only moves up and down through the crevice. It is only connected to the small foot for lower or higher positions.

According to the manual, a Pfaff 1245, works with needles 110(european measure)=18(Singer or american measure), 120=20, 140=22, 180=24.
We should not forget, if we're going to work with thick threads it would be necessary to do the adjustments to upper and lower tension.

Acabo de encargar una máquina como la suya, una PFAFF 1245, pero el modelo moderno, aunque estoy seguro que será de mucha menos calidad que su máquina, porque todos sabemos que las máquinas modernas las hacen peor que las antiguas...

Los mecanismos de la 1245 moderna son similares a la antigüa con pocas variaciones. Tienen bobina mas grande 'jumbo' de mas capacidad de hilo y la puntada es de 8 mm ...mi máquina sólo da 6 mm.

A este respecto, tengo una duda que me gustaría exponérsela por si usted pudiese informarme:
El vendedor de la máquina me indicó que el modelo 1245 podría utilizar agujas de hasta 180, y en alguna ocasión también lo ha indicado usted en alguno de sus vídeos, pero en el manual de la máquina indica que el tamaño máximo sería 150. ¿Tal vez el manual indica que se puede utilizar el 150, pero la máquina podría aceptar hasta el 180, si no se emplea un hilo excesivamente grueso? ¿O tal vez la máquina moderna únicamente admite hasta 150 y el modelo antiguo permitía utilizar hasta 180?

No me di cuenta de ese detalle en el manual. De hecho éstas máquinas pueden coser con agujas desde 110 hasta 180 y 200. La 180 y 200 es para hilos gruesos, aquí le llamamos doble cero. para un hilo normal de tapicería que es el número 8 la aguja sería la 110, 120 hasta 140. Creo que una medida 'estandar' o promedio sería la aguja 140 que puede coser con hilo delgado de tapicería N° 8 y el mas gruesito N° cero. Si quisiéramos coser solo materiales delgados sea tela o cuero una 110 sería la indicada...esta aguja va con hilo delgado...la 120 puede encajar aquí también.

Even if I adjust BOTH feet, the pressure on the feet is still to high so the feet don't lift very high... I don't even know what other screws I could still adjust now? :-(

A flat bed, single needle, walking foot industrial sewing machine would work right. Juki lu 563, Consew 206rb, pfaff 1245-706, Singer 211g166, Adler 167, etc.
If possible you could buy a new one, otherwise a used one would work well also.

I have a question. I recently bought a zipper foot for my 1245, but when i installed it the foot sits about an 1/8" off the feed plate. How do i adjust the height of the rear foot?

These presser feet should work out similar to the other original ones. Trying to figure out what is the issue but I can't, sorry.
At min 1:24 we can see a 'wing nut' that regulates the height of presser feet. If we want to sew thicker layers of leather, then the position of wing nut goes gradually upwards.
I have been through all your videos on adjusting a 1245. Mine keeps shredding the needle thread. Do you have any thoughts ?
Check out if the sewing machine needle is not rubbing the needle plate or presser foot holes. Also verify the needle is vertically placed and not twisted.
The hook point of shuttle should pass close in the middle of needle scarf. Sometimes it happens the hook point rubs the thread causing shredding.

Sabe si todas las maquinas pfaff de triple arrastre, en sus ajustes son igual?
Adquirí una pfaff 335-H3 viejita, (es de brazo y triple arrastre) pero no encuentro nada de información sobre como ajustar, únicamente he encontrado catálogos de todas sus piezas. Le agradecería si es que tiene alguna información sobre de esta maquina. Aun así intentaré tomar algunos ajustes de este video como las alturas de pies prensatelas pero me faltaría la altura de la barra de aguja.

Estimado Erasmo, Muy buena máquina la 335. Nunca he tenido una. Puede hacerle una mesa plana de madera dándole la altura que requiera. Asi tendría 2 en una. Una máquina de brazo es muy útil para coser maletines. La posición del cangrejo es vertical y para ponerla a tiempo lleva tornillos que se aflojan para que gire el gancho y lo ponga en su lugar correcto.

In a double transport sewing machine the dragging/feeding of material (vinyl or leather) is done with the rear bigger foot plus the feed dog which moves back and forth. The small foot only moves up and down as an alternating foot pressing the material. The needle only sews and also moves up and down.
In a triple transport machine 3 elements at unison do the feeding of material:
the small front foot, the feed dog and the needle.
These mechanisms move together back and forth.The rear foot only moves up and down.

An industrial mechanic or enginner (lathe/milling operator) can do the changing but it would cost more than the sewing machine. I do not recommend it.
You could make an effort and get a triple transport machine.

The 'presser feet' I show in this video is the original for a Pfaff 1245 . To get a better view of my sewing I cut one of the small legs of 'small presser foot' . At the beginning of attached video below you could see the 'small leg of small foot cut :

Es de triple arrastre porque son 3 elementos o mecanismos (el pié de presión pequeño, el peine de arrastre y la aguja) que arrastran o jalan el material que puede ser vinil, cuero/piel, etc. El pié grande trasero solamente se mueve vertical arriba y abajo. ruclips.net/video/U3HBXBDDKoo/видео.html
En una doble arrastre son dos elementes, es el pié de presión grande y el peine de arrastre. El pié de presión pequeño y la aguja solo suben y bajan verticalmente , no tienen movimiento de vaivén como el de triple arrastre.
amigo una pregunta tengo un maquina doble arrastre brother pero no le encuentro como graduar el mecanismo q concuerde la barra de la aguja con el recorrido del arrestre como hago ayudeme
Su máquina es marca Brother ¿Que modelo es su máquina? Nunca he regulado una máquina de esta marca, pero como todas son parecidas, con el modelo puedo buscar algunas imágenes y con suerte tener una idea donde se encuentra el mecanismo regulador.

It its an old used machine (Pfaff 1245-706/47 I bought it from a local supplier, here in Mexico. Most of these used machines come from USA

was sewing along with my pfaff 145 and the large foot just stopped on the dog feed.... what slipped and how to fix it
Is the small presser foot doing its up and down movement? If so, it means the disadjustment is only for the big foot. The first would be to remove the pressure of the lever on top. Second, set the wing nut (it regulates the height of presser feet) in the back to lower position. It would be necessary to loosen two little bolts (flat heads) in the rear part of the machine head which fasten the bar that holds the big presser foot. Once is thoroughly loose it could be moved up and down freely.
Move the 'big sewing machine wheel' by hand as if it were sewing. While the small foot is on its upward position, place/slide down the large foot to the lowest position against the feed dog. At this moment, fasten the 2 little bolts again.
@@Cechaflo it is only the big foot that is not working... remove the pressure of the lever on top? There are 2 sets of flat head bolts on the back of the machine? Ones by the wing nut and a pair on the same arm toward the front of the head.... I am at the shop with the machine now

The key for the adjustment of presser feet front and rear is the small front foot.
Perhaps the small foot is not touching the feed dog on time...it is delayed.
What to do: 1. The presser foot lift lever should be down. 2. Loosen the bolt/s that is in the rear upper part.

3. The front small foot bar is loose now. It can be moved up and down.
4. When the feed dog appears to travel backwards with needle together this is the moment to place the small presser foot touching the feed dog teeth.
5. It is time to tighten enough the upper bolt that was loosened.
6. Now while the front small foot touches the feed dog the rear foot lifts up.

@@gerardocortez4898 The feed dog has no movement at all if the stitch regulator is in zero position. It means the stitch lever could be stuck or disadjusted.
Fortunately, I did not have this issue with my machine, otherwise I would give you related tips. I am not really devoted to fix sewing machines. I am car upholsterer.

Antes de darle algunas ideas para 'mover' los piés de presión quería preguntarle si el 'peine o dientes de arrastre' sobresalen lo suficiente para arrastrar la tela. El desajuste puede darse aquí si estos 'dientes' no aparecen sobre el nivel de la placa para arrastrar el material, por consiguiente el material se atora y no corre.
Su máquina no llega a hacer este movimiento alternativo: ruclips.net/video/_G---aIqgPY/видео.html Hay máquinas Pfaff como la mía que tienen en la parte posterior una 'tuerca mariposa' que regula la altura de los 'piés'. Si esa tuerca estaría en 'posición baja', los 'piés de presión' no hacen el movimiento de 'subir y bajar' para que el material se desplace hacia atrás. Lo que no hace en este caso es aflojar la tuerca un poquito y regularla hacia arriba y darle ajuste para que no se mueva (esta tuerca se desliza en un 'canal' hacia arriba o hacia abajo).
@@Cechaflo Ya. Lo de la mariposa para regular el espesor de material ya lo conocía. De hecho también había visto este vídeo. Ya he solucionado el problema. No era de la altura de ambas patas, ni del peine de arrastre, era la regulación del eje del prensatelas. Lo he subido un poco para permitirle poder caminar. Ahora tengo la tensión del hilo un poco desequilibrada, pero, ya cose, porque ya "camina". ¡Gracias!

Cómo ajustar la barra d abajo q agarra la lanzadera
Supongo que se refiere a la barra vertical que sostiene al 'cangrejo' o lanzadera. Esa va ajustada abajo en el engrane pequeño. Si este se afloja sale hácia arriba con todo y lanzadera.
En este minuto se aprecia la barra vertical que irá sujeta al pequeño engrane por dos tornillitos.

Estimado Everardo, estaba bien seguro que había contestado esta pregunta hace unos dias, pero creo que se borró, porque no lo veo. Bien este comentario anterior le comenté de Macoca, una tienda de refacciones para máquinas pfaff . Alli compre las patitas que se ven en el último video hace como 5 años. No sé si llegó a llamar por teléfono. Aveces no tienen las piezas y lo piden de la central de Mexico DF.

Mi máquina la tengo adaptada para coser despacio. En la tapicería artesanal no se ocupa altas velocidades.

La mejor opción es cambiar el motor de clutch por un servo motor. En cualquier momento voy a comprar este motor para mi máquina.
Como le menciono en tapicería no se ocupan altas velocidades, a menos que estemos trabajando en línea de producción.

¡Qué marca y modelo de máquina le ofrecen? En que lugar está Ud. localizado, para poder darle una idea. Aunque los precios son muy parecidos a nivel mundial. 1300 para una máquina usada en muy buenas condiciones y completa con motor y mesa sería lo correcto.

Me parece que va tener que comprar el cabezal. Ofrezcale 1000 USD. Tome en cuenta que tiene que comprar separado el motor y la mesa y adaptarlo a la medida. Aparte del cabezal tienen que darle la palanca de rodilla que levanta el pié prensatelas.
