I grew up with a mother who was very crafty and always sewing and making something and as a young boy learned how to sew. As I got older my love for cars led me to seeing the upholstery as something similar to what my mom taught me so as a teenager I experimented with taking my 1st car apart and unstitching the seats, making a pattern much like my mother did with her projects then figured out how to reverse engineer auto upholstery. Jump to 6 years later I am starting my own auto upholstery business in 1996 and now 22 years later it seems that I have done just about it all. But when I watch your videos they are full of information where sometimes I'm like why didn't I think of that, I feel like I am learning things all over again. Especially with these little attachments you made that would make things so much easier and faster to duplicate pieces rather than eyeballing it. I immediately went to eBay to see if I could buy some to fit my Juki LG-158 36" long arm but I can't find any attachments for my machine that are for sale. I am curious if you have made any more that you may be interested in selling a set? . Also, my machine has the capability to run dual needles, the threading tensioners and path is already there (I can't remember if the 2nd bobbin mechanism is installed yet) it just doesn't have the 2nd needle and feed feet mechanics & possibly the bobbin mechanism installed yet. I saw a new version of my machine I checked out while doing my searches for attachments (see photo below) that showed a machine set up for a single needle but what appeared to be an attachment so that the arm that lifted the single needle and foot actually had a 2nd needle and foot hanging off to the left. Rather than a whole 2nd set of mechanics to work the 2nd needle and 2nd foot like I have seen other versions of my machine that were running dual needles compared to my single needle setup. Same went for the foot/feeder it was double wide. So even though that machine much like mine only had the mechanism for a single needle and foot, its attachment made it have a 2nd needle and foot hanging off to the left of the main parts. So with just attachments that machine appeared it could easily go from single to double needle setup (unless I am wrong and these are not attachments but permanent). But I don't see why they couldn't be made into attachments for machines like my Juki LG-158 to be able to easily run single or dual needles. Where I was told when I bought my machine it would be best to have 1 setup as a single needle and a 2nd as a double needle because trying to reconfigure the machine was too much of a hassle. This could be due to the salesman wanting me to buy a 2nd expensive machine that he had rather than recommending I buy attachments that he does not. But having a single machine setup like this I saw you could go from single to double needle with just a quick changing of the feet. I was curious if you seen a system like this? Or have bought/made one for yourself? I am very interested in getting one, a versatile set of attachments is much better than a shop full of $5,000+ sewing machines where each can only do one specific stitch. i.postimg.cc/8PH4N0M1/s-l500.jpg

It appears you can design, sew, invent...what's next? You should have a patent rights to these new presser feet designs...Amazing mind and hands, plus the heart to share! Wow :)
As always you show “how easy it is” to do things :-) You do really good work and Thanks for sharing your skills with the rest of us that are trying to learn to master the sewing machine.
Things really turn out easier by using these accesories. Actually, most of us the upholsterers are used to traditional ways of doing some procedures, hence we are reluctant to change something we have been doing for years (I am included in the list). I meant, sewing with no guides and trusting our good eye.
Wonderful, very creative. My son came to work with me in the tapestry and is beginning to sew to sew. This video was extremely instructive to teach you how to sew straight in 1cm. Many thanks! Jesus Christ, bless you!
The flat plate insert can be made of metal sheet cutting it with 'scissors to cut sheet'. It can also be fixed with magnets, but always these must be removed from the coil mechanisms, because if they are strong magnetism would not let the reel back ... would attract it. Of course, it depends on kind of sewing machine.
Espectacular...
Very big thank for video. Instead of first device I'm using magnet. Very usefull and easy to place and remove. But second device I was looked 2 months specially for pfaff. And You helped me greatly!! Now I'll buy it on aliexpress. You made my life more comfortable! Thank You so much!!
im a 4th gen upholsterer and have 25+ years experiance sewing.....the #1 tip to all up and coming upholsterers is to STOP worrying about "mastering" the machine the sewing is the easiest part of any job....Focus your effort into creating true and actually straight patterns and the rest will come easily....the real skilled/experianced guys know that 99% of the quality comes from the prep work prior to sitting down to sew!...if your patterns are straight your seats will be straight...plain and simple

Oh my gosh Ceasar...I really wish my machine (436) was as controllable as yours!! I think this one I have is from a sweat shop or something. Lol. Its 100 mph or 0. No in between. I'm still waiting on the manual. Hopefully this week my neighbor will have a chance to print it up for me. Do you think I will be able to adjust it so it will do a controled, one stitch at a time? Or is that wishful dreaming? Please say yes. 🤞 Talk with you guys soon.💕

And that is why I am so grateful to you for taking your time to converse with me and for the videos too.❣ You have been incredibly helpful and kind. And I hope I am not getting on your nerves or being a bother to you guys. If I am just say so. Okay! Lol. I better look at this manual and if its 'the one', have my neighbor print it at work instead of the other one I sent her. Fingers crossed! 🤞 Love you. Hope you got to relax a little this weekend.
@@LilDirt12 We understand. No worries. We are so glad to somehow help our youtube followers. It seems to me your machine is the Pfaff 463, because that is what is in the metal tag/plaque on your machine head. Check the link out.
@@Cechaflo awesome. I couldn't find anything when I searched the numbers. But then again I wasn't sure how to word my search. I was trying to send you another video via email, but sometimes my service acts up and messages don't sync for days. So you may get it tomorrow. And it may seem redundant. Now knowing it is a high speed machine, is there any way to make it more controllable like yours? I hope that doesn't sound like a dumb question. I'm just thinking if it can't then I may not be able to use it. Its intimidating. And its hard to control. Watching you on your machines makes it look so easy. I'm going to find the video of the machine I would love that you are using and I will ask you which one it is so then I will know what to look for if one comes up for sale. What type of thread do you use when sewing car seat upholstery? Is there a certain size, style, etc that we should look for? I'm about to order my materials and I'm unsure on what type of thread to go with.
The 'standard polyester thread' used to do general upholstery is number 8 here in Mexico. Hello, Thanks for your query. I do not think it would be advisable to convert a 'regular sewing machine' into a 'walking foot one'. It would involve to do changes in some mechanisms to make the needle bar move in a back and forth motion. Besides, it would be very expensive. It is much better to do en effort to get the appropriate 'wlaking foot machine'. Welcome to this channel anytime!

thank you for the tips, i have question : what is the importance of making ribbon under french stitch ? and does it avoid having shrinks on final look?
The main reason for using a ribbon in the back while doing 'double stitches' is a way of 'reinforcement' to somehow avoid the 'opening' of 'central sewing junction'. It also depends on the position on car seat and if it is going to suffer some stretching otherwise we could prescind from it.

It appears you can design, sew, invent...what's next? You should have a patent rights to these new presser feet designs...Amazing mind and hands, plus the heart to share! Wow :)
Hello, I really appreciate your kind remarks!
You are a master of your craft, and a genius inventor. Thanks for sharing your ideas with us.
Another option for 'guiding plates' to help sewing procedure: ruclips.net/video/0QEq7-kbnbU/видео.html

Consew 206 RB1 walking foot. Bought for $1100.00 over 20 years ago and it was a year old. Works li,e a brand new machine!!
I can not thank you enough for sharing your artistry.
Espectacular... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

im a 4th gen upholsterer and have 25+ years experiance sewing.....the #1 tip to all up and coming upholsterers is to STOP worrying about "mastering" the machine the sewing is the easiest part of any job....Focus your effort into creating true and actually straight patterns and the rest will come easily....the real skilled/experianced guys know that 99% of the quality comes from the prep work prior to sitting down to sew!...if your patterns are straight your seats will be straight...plain and simple

The machine you are referring is an industrial, 'simple transport sewing machine' .The dragging of material is only done by the feed dog, therefore there would be some limitations if sewing thick materials (vinyl, leather, etc.)
Upholsterers in the past years used to improve the sewing by doing this:

Oh my gosh Ceasar...I really wish my machine (436) was as controllable as yours!! I think this one I have is from a sweat shop or something. Lol. Its 100 mph or 0. No in between. I'm still waiting on the manual. Hopefully this week my neighbor will have a chance to print it up for me. Do you think I will be able to adjust it so it will do a controled, one stitch at a time? Or is that wishful dreaming? Please say yes. 🤞 Talk with you guys soon.💕
Dear Lynn, I am now in doubt if your machine is 463 or 436. What I am completely sure it is Pfaff.
This the manual for the 463:

This is for the 436: www.manualslib.com/manual/1204606/Pfaff-436.html?page=4#manual
To keep much better control of the machine the best is a servo motor.

I will have to sell everything I own to purchase it. Hahaha.

What type of thread do you use when sewing car seat upholstery? Is there a certain size, style, etc that we should look for? I'm about to order my materials and I'm unsure on what type of thread to go with.
The 'standard polyester thread' used to do general upholstery is number 8 here in Mexico. I am not 100% sure but I think it corresponds to 92 in USA : www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=polyester-thread-092

Love your videos thanks for sharing. My question is it possible to convert an straight stitch industrial machine into a walking foot machine. Thanks
Hello, Thanks for your query. I do not think it would be advisable to convert a 'regular sewing machine' into a 'walking foot one'. It would involve to do changes in some mechanisms to make the needle bar move in a back and forth motion. Besides, it would be very expensive.
It is much better to do en effort to get the appropriate 'wlaking foot machine'.

thank you for the tips, i have question : what is the importance of making ribbon under french stitch ? and does it avoid having shrinks on final look?
The main reason for using a ribbon in the back while doing 'double stitches' is a way of 'reinforcement' to somehow avoid the 'opening' of 'central sewing junction'. It also depends on the position on car seat and if it is going to suffer some stretching otherwise we could prescind from it.
Thanks to answer so quick :)

Please show how you made those attachments. Great skill as usual

Cechaflo , always the master ! Nice attachments to make or buy . I have an old ALFA rotomatic that I use to make shade-sails for the home and upholstery , but would love a walking foot machine , what in your opinion is a good second hand machine , that will handle say a soft-top canvas for a Jeep ? . Thanks .
Nice work
Amazing tool, good job
I did the adpatation to verify if it really works out. At any moment I am going to purchase an original one from ebay:www.ebay.com/itm/Spring-Edge-Guide-Right-SIDE-Topstitch-Foot-Set-1-4-Pfaff-145-335-545-1245-/123082263816
Looks like you got the servo motor. What brand?
It is a clutch motor In the meantime, I reduced the speed to keep a better control by using two tricks:

Definitely, a servo motor is the best to keep control of the machine. I will buy one for this machine at any moment.
The machine is a Pfaff 1245-706/47 (old version)
