It corners really well for a non sports car and it can get up and go when you want it to and it can fit my 1 year old's car seat and my wife and I comfortably. Hey Scotty! I actually bought this exact same model, year, and color used last August based on your recomendation of Honda. It's a great daily driver even if the cold air on the conditioner went warm around 40,000 miles. Glad l bought the LX model since l was almost tempted by the bells and whistles of the Ex-t which has the oil dissolution problems. Thank you for all your knowledgeable car wisdom!

Just bought this car this week. It's nice to know scotty approves of it. Also here in Canada, I have the Lx and it's comes with a touch screen radio, while the LX in USA has the basic push button radio
I bought this car for my brother last year. It is a used 2016 model. I didn’t research about CVT or turbocharged engine but I think we got a gem. It’s a very low maintenance car. It just need a oil change every once in a while that’s pretty much it. Thanks Scotty I will show this video to my brother
Makes me more confident in buying my 2020 Civic Sport, 2.0L 6MT. I got it back in January with only 6 miles on it, but now in May, I already have over 10600 miles.
Having watched my older brother and his friends work on project/hobby cars years ago, we all came to the same conclusion: Such cars are holes in the driveway that money disappears into.
Have that same exact car. Same exact color. Just hit 140k miles on it and only thing I’ve had to replace is an air compressor and a motor mount. Still one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The perfect commuter car.
@gustavo Leal Hi , does your civic have a vibration to it? Mine is at 23000 miles and I’ve noticed it has a vibration which I read online from other buyers that it is common but wanted to know about your motor mount situation.

I bought the 2017 1.5 Turbo Civic Hatch Sport. I’ll take my chances. Haven’t seen Scotty fix this car yet on the channel for Oil DIL. I change my oil extra frequently and take other precautions. Love the car. Zippy and looks amazing.
I have a 2016 civic 1.5, I have 80k miles on it with mostly City driving in Manhattan. Admittedly, there is probably some oil dilution, which is normal with GDI engines, but I have no issues with the car. It’s been great. Just changing the oil religiously at 5k
I have 1.5 tcp.. just buy it .. common stupid ppl is when they change oil to semi or natural oil.. use FULLY synthetic.. I've used mine for 3 years now . No issue.. always listen to owner ..
You’re literally the first person I come to watch about cars. I’m into the Hondas especially the new civic and with your information, I’m glad to now know about the issues it has. I respect your work, keep it up, don’t retire just yet, still need your valuable information.
I have a '16 Civic touring coupe with the 1.5 litre turbo you're talking about....I'm not having the oil dilution problem you're talking about...I know of the problem, just haven't experienced any of the issues....Love the car...
I bought a 2018 Honda Civic SE (only in Canada) Absolutely in love with it. Aluminum rims. Push start. Remote start. Honda Sensing package. I think it's better than the US models of similar trim level.
All honda 1.5 turbo engines have more than just oil dilution issues. Bad head gaskets and headgasket damage is common. Bad gdi injectors, failing sparkplugs, misfires, turbo failures, you name it.
@@darcychu9652 rust is the only killer sadly, manual transmissions are by far superior in terms of maintenance, durability, and longevity. It's also a fun laugh when a lot of recent mechanics now cant drive manual ? not sure why we are so lazy these days.
I was wondering when you'd review my car! Had it for a year, no issues except for AC condenser (covered under service contract, and now Honda themselves). Love the way it handles and steers
Lefai Kao Yes, we came close to getting one last week but heard about the AC issues and Honda not even backing the warranty.....blaming outside debris damaging the AC, instead of their faulty design. And leaving customers on the hook for expensive repairs even when under warranty. The whole point of getting a new car is to avoid expensive repairs. We’re disappointed because we really like the Civic, but reliable AC is a must for us.
I always check with Scotty's channel first before even THINKING of buying any car that's not a Honda or toyota. I just bought a 2013 CR-Z Ex with 93k miles. former lease vehicle. Excellent condition. scotty is proud of me I know.
I can seriously appreciate how nonchalant you are about the interior. "Digital dash, looks cool!" I'm only thirty and I hate digital dashes, but when you put it that way? Yeah! It does!
I was test driving a 2016 civic ex-t that had been in an accident before quarantine. I was laid off from my last job and have been needing the money I didn’t spend on a car. I didn’t end up buying it and I am happy about that especially after watching this video.
Why 6 speed? Seems like overkill to me - I have 2 Isuzu Rodeos 1996-97 5 speed manual - 5 speeds seem overkill - lots of shifting - 96 Rodeo has 482,000mi -still running....
I got the 2016 highest grade model with all the bells and whistles. Get it maintained at 5000km instead of 10k as they recommend. So far so good, no issue. It's an amazing car, looks damn good too
Thank you Scotty! I used to regret not getting the touring model. But I have a 2017 Civic EX 2.0L and this makes me feel better about my purchase decision. I made the decision to go with NA engine because I didn’t trust the turbocharged engine. But I did wished I could have a manual transmission, which it’s rare to find one with a 2.0L engine.
Agreed it’s hard to find one with a manual transmission. I finally got lucky on New Year’s Day 2021 after looking a couple months for a 2020 civic sport sedan with a manual gearbox and NA 2.0 engine.

I've just got the 2017 civic 5 speed transmission, a little worry about the "earthdream" engine. Scotty videos have helped me and son to make better choice when looking for cars. Thanks for your videos they are great.
If I was in the position to buy a new Civic I would seriously look at the Sport trim level. That one has the 6 speed manual transmission, the 2.0L naturally asperated engine and no sun roof which is a win in my opinion.
Exactly what I bought new in Dec 2020. 6 speed manual transmission, 2.0L naturally aspirated port injected engine and no sunroof in Dark Gray (Modern Steel Metallic) 👍🏻
I plan on buying another car in a couple of months and definitely considering a Civic with the 2.0L motor. I hope to get one in the Sport trim since it has more features than the base LX. Aside from the fact it has no turbo, you don't have to worry about problems the befall Direct Injection engines. Thank goodness for port fuel injection!
I'd go manual but me and my instructor keep bopping our heads up and down whenever I'm driving stick..lol. Also, I think I broke my instructor's manual transmission because I heard what sounded like plates being smashed onto the floor. Car still moves. This one time I accidentally downshifted back to first gear from the last gear instead of shifting down from the other gears first. :(
Saw this in the 10th gen civic forums... bruh the oil dilution problem was fixed after 2018. I have a 19 Civic Si which is the 1.5T and I’ve never had a single problem
Scotty I have a 1997 Toyota Camry with 395,000 miles no check engine light drives like new. I wanna show you some pictures or a video, how can I do that?
Because of Scotty, I bought a 2.0 litre civic coupe with a CVT. Salesman wanted me to buy the 1.5 turbo and I said “ no way” because of the best mechanic in the world. Honda didn’t have a Celica.

I bought a 2020 Honda Civic "non-Turbo," 2.0L engine in December 2019, and just at 72 miles I checked my engine because I kept hearing about the oil/gas dilution problem with Honda's, the oil stick and oil cap were reeking of gasoline at 72 miles!! Even the 2 mechanics at Honda said they smelled gas, and so did my personal mechanic. It's been driving beautifully, I have 1,900 miles on it, I don't drive it around much since I live in a small town. I intend on taking it in next month in June to get my first free oil change out of 4 free ones. At this point I can only hope that the oil changes every 6 months and putting low miles on it will keep my beautiful Honda in my driveway running like a dream. My personal mechanic told me that I had put so few miles on it that I couldn't have hurt my engine much only after 142 miles when I took it in to see him. He told me to keep an eye on the oil stick level, but it is hard to know where the oil is because the synthetic oil is so runny, and that orange plastic tip with the 2 holes in it doesn't really show me where the oil is, it's hard to see the oil on it. I wish that Honda had kept the old all metal stick in the 2020 Civic like the one I had on my 2000 Civic, which I owned for 20 years @ 120,000 miles...it's easier to see where the oil is with an all metal oil stick...but boy, does that oil still reek of gasoline, I just checked it yesterday, and it also had the consistency of gasoline too.
Hi Scotty. I have the 1.8L model of this car (America gets the 2.0L R20 engine, Asia and Australia gets the 1.8 engine). The R series engine are stinking reliable and can go 300k+ plus miles with no problems

Just bought this car this week. It's nice to know scotty approves of it. Also here in Canada, I have the Lx and it's comes with a touch screen radio, while the LX in USA has the basic push button radio
So you pay more money to get a more unreliable car? 🧐 seems about right these days
moins cher ne signifie pas toujours fiable. Le Dodge Journey est un horrible véhicule.
That's always been the case. Fast reliable or cheap pick two.
more complex = more stuff that can break
I used 1.5tcp.. from 2017, going on good.. 70000km mileage now
Dumb logic. Do you pay for a sports car or supercar for reliability?
I bought this car for my brother last year. It is a used 2016 model. I didn’t research about CVT or turbocharged engine but I think we got a gem. It’s a very low maintenance car. It just need a oil change every once in a while that’s pretty much it. Thanks Scotty I will show this video to my brother
You're my lockdown staying home instructor! Much more interesting than decorating cakes.
I’d say the opposite. But that’s cause I’m sick of cars.
Scotty is low calorie too.
I bought a 2016 Civic LX recently and I'm glad it has scotty's approval :)
YES! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO REVIEW A CIVIC LX!!!

Having watched my older brother and his friends work on project/hobby cars years ago, we all came to the same conclusion: Such cars are holes in the driveway that money disappears into.
I got a Honda Civic 2016 just like that one I had my doubts on the Honda but now I feel so relieved
Have that same exact car. Same exact color. Just hit 140k miles on it and only thing I’ve had to replace is an air compressor and a motor mount. Still one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The perfect commuter car.
Yep those 2.0 L naturally aspirated can run forever.
@gustavo Leal Hi , does your civic have a vibration to it? Mine is at 23000 miles and I’ve noticed it has a vibration which I read online from other buyers that it is common but wanted to know about your motor mount situation.

My girl has one and it’s just like this but black and we bought it used because we just needed a car … we did very well getting this car because it’s almost paid off and it has had no engine issues and it just runs and runs and runs I am a big fan
I just convinced my parents to get a 2019 Honda Civic LX 2.0l with the 6 speed Manuel! I told them nothing beats that reliability
2.0 + 6 Speed is the most reliable way to buy a Civic by far 👍🏻

I have a 2016 civic 1.5, I have 80k miles on it with mostly City driving in Manhattan. Admittedly, there is probably some oil dilution, which is normal with GDI engines, but I have no issues with the car. It’s been great. Just changing the oil religiously at 5k

Malik Harris I’ve heard they have AC issues. I found it funny that Scotty didn’t mention that. Glad yours got covered in the warranty/TSB
