I bought a 2021 hrv and can confirm this car surprises with its fuel efficiency. Even with 80% city driving I see fuel efficiency figures of low 7's. Loving this car every day.
I have one, I thought the rear handles were cool until I tried to open the rear door with a shopping bag in each arm. Or if you are carrying a box. Anytime both hands are occupied, the handle is too high to reach. Kitsch over practicality.
I bought one from a auction and when I received it my father and I almost lost it when we thought we got a 2 door SUV. Then we found the handle and all was good 😂
Bought a new HRV Vti-l in 2015, now has 138000km, all it has had is a new battery, new tyres and fluid & filter changes when due. Had the start button replaced under warranty. Been very happy with the vehicle.
Thank you for your insightful review. I just bought a 2016 HRV, literally on the day this video came out! So glad you gave the HRV a good review! I too appreciate its practical space inside for the compact size, the excellent trim level, Honda reliability and the fetching look. Here in New Zealand, however, the 2016 models had a different nomenclature, with the HRV S being the base model, the HRV L being the mid level and the HRV Sport (and up to Sport NT with all additional extras such as side step platform) being the top spec in NZ. All these correspond to the equivalent to Australia in terms of trim. I was able to get a HRV Sport for $20k which I thought was a great deal. As you have noted some of the black gloss around the gear stick and climate controls are often scratched up but I found some car wax can restore it. Fuel efficiency is good and apparently improves after the car has done a few 10,000kms. I picked up my secondhand HRV from a car yard out of town and took the opportunity to take my car on a 2 day round trip. It was excellent. Easy to drive and smooth with plenty of space for the family. I personally think the front seat is very comfortable, much more comfortable than in my previous car. My HRV also comes with electric seat adjustment for the driver (not for the front passenger though) which meant I could adjust the seat how I want for max comfort on the long journey. I also tried out the other seats during the journey when my partner drove and they were also all comfortable front and back with plenty of space to doze off. One of the things I noticed though is that as the fuel tank is under the front seats (to allow for the magi seats), there is no storage under the front seats and there is a pronounce 'lip' or 'wall' under the front seats if your seat is pulled back which may impact where you want to rest your left leg.
We have a 2016 HR-V with 85,000 km. Ours is the 1800 CVT and while not particularly powerful is adequate for normal driving. The all wheel drive works very well here in Canada when going through snow. I have Michelin X-ice snow tires and the car is fantastic in snow and icy conditions, plus it all happens without the need to turn anything on or off. I agree with the front seats comment, not comfortable for long distance driving. Lack of thigh support (I'm 6' - 2" ) Room for hauling and trick rear seats are fantastic. Reliability is fantastic. No issues yet, I have the regular maintenance done at the dealers shop!
My Aunt had the older "uglier" model and owned it for a good solid 10+ years, it never had any major problems or broke down. Also great video as always guys keep up the good work and i would buy a Redriven t shirt to help boost the channel
My 2010 Prius blew the head gasket at 300k miles. I wanted a new Prius but the pricing was insane at this time. I saw this video and went looking for a gentle used hrv. My local Honda dealer had new models with 2.49% financing. Got exl trim with front wheel drive for msrp. My first two tanks of gas have returned a combine 34.2 mpg with a nearly 50/50 split on city/highway. My cost of ownership will be nearly identical for my new hrv compared to the inflated Prius prices. Compared to the ride and power of a Prius this is a luxury sports car.
I've always wanted to drive one of these, just to check it out. Other than the ability to park them everywhere and anywhere in a densely populated city, I wondered how good it was in every other aspect. Thanks for the informative peek into the HR-V universe! Think my interest has been satisfied. 🙂
The best HRV review I have ever seen. Much better than the US reviews with their fetish on 0 to 60. How about reporting the fuel economy in miles per gallon for your North American fans.
I own an HRV 2017 since 2023 and I love this car. Super confortable and I was lucky to find mine with very low milage. This month it just hit 20.000km. I have basically a brand new car and it was super afordable! I am a very happy Honda customer, it is my second Honda and for sure not the last one.

Has paddle shift mode if you are feeling sporty. I has a 1.8l with a 1st gear take off CVT,, I don't like CVT's but this one has a real first gear, after that it transitions to a CVT and the car has no problems accelerating . Thanks AK and Jim. I have found that redriven has been a great resource for buying a used car. After being patient, I recently bought a 2017 HRV VTi-L with 40k kms.
I purchased a 2022 hrv V and I love it , , I am not sure why these Hrvs arent more popular but got mine and loving it , did my first camp out in it also was with a goldendoodle had oodles of room
I bought a 2016 in may of 2015 in the United States I am happy with it This car tackles snow like a champ and it handles well There is a minor problem with outside trim distorting and peeling My headlights have fogged over but that’s hardly unique to the Honda HRV. Touch screens are not great but ok. Built in navigation is mostly ok but no speed limit indicator which is a big minus for me. Not a problem since I use Waze these days and updates to the nav are not free. Front seats are comfortable enough despite what I’ve read from reviews. Plenty of power for Highway and city driving without being a muscle car
We have the Vezel hybrid 2014 version, and she’s beautiful and we really enjoyed the drive and super fuel efficient! The only part that is annoying us is the armrest making Squeaky noise other than that we love it!
With some of the biggest irritation being the touch controls, maybe the base LX is most appealing, with its additional hard controls for radio and climate. You trade-off other things of course, but it may be worth it. After all, you use audio and climate controls a lot more often than most other things.
Every video I watch on these, I get more and more excited to get mine. Stateside, we had the choice of a CVT or a 6 speed manual. Saving up to buy my mom's, which has the manual.
I've had mine for a year and a half and I really like it, a euro-spec 2017 petrol manual highest trim-level model. I'm in Europe, so the spec sheet is a bit different though. Over here we could pick between a 1.6 diesel manual, or a 1.5 naturally aspirated petrol available in both manual and CVT. I'm a bit weirded out at those reports saying that the seats are uncomfortable though. Now I've not driven a huge amount of cars and comfort is also pretty subjective, but I can definitely say that I'm very comfortable in the HR-V seat, maybe more than any other car I've driven. I'm a million times better seated in the HR-V than I am in my other current car (2018 Opel Corsa), that's for damn sure. I also really like how both my elbows tend to rest naturally dead on the armrests on both sides, it really adds up to the comfort in the seat, especially on longer trips (elbow room is very generous, I might add). At the end of the day, comfort is so subjective that it's best to just try out the damn seats for yourself rather than thrusting reports claiming that comfort is bad or some idiot on the internet saying that it's great. We're all built different, and we all have varying levels expectations, sensitivity and pickiness.
Great review, thank you. I bought a new HRV VTi (Australian base model) in 2015. No mechanical issues at all since then. Now done about 54 thousand km. It is serviced regularly. Very economical but I read somewhere that the engine Honda used in this car is/was not one of Honda’s latest engines. Driver side window motor has recently started making a clicking noise for a few seconds when the glass reaches the top of the window frame. Left side front door always needed a slightly more forceful nudge to close when all the windows are up - Honda mechanic told me it was something to do with the pressure in the cabin when windows are up. The original battery lasted 6 years. A few gripes. This model did not have built-in Sat Nav. Blue paint sometimes takes on a purple hue depending on the light. Orange oil stick is a silly Honda choice as it is harder to see the oil level. No power socket in the boot, a bit odd for a SUV type vehicle- the two higher grade models for the same 2015 car have the extra socket and they all have the same body. Speedo always reads 4 to 6 kph higher (at 60 kph) than my plug-in sat nav or the dash cam. It is very reliable and practical car.
The blue paint having a purple hue is normal. I think it's even better as it's way sexier. Also, this is the type of paint it is. It's dual tone. It's a more special one. I have the Vezel 2014 Dark Blue and the dual tone is beautiful I think
Alpha Romeo started the hidden handle, I have a 2015 vti-L nice to have all that space inside people are suprised how much I can fit especially when seats are folded, also side note reversing left side mirror tilts to see the curb 4 adaults will be comfortable!
We owned a 2016 HRV EX AWD. It wasn't a 'bad' car and most people would probably be happy with it. For us, it just felt extremely underpowered and spartan. I have back issues and often would have lower back spasms getting up from the front seat after long rides.
I had one of the early Honda Integra's and it had 330,000 kms on the clock when i sold it .Never had any problems with it apart from a couple of dodgy CV's and that was the fault of the parts supplier sending out the wrong set , surprising what a difference 3mm will make .Love Hondas thats why i have a Mazda six now , go figure .
the real bastard of the bunch is 7 speed DCT, Hybrid variant. The clutch-set is know to go out of calibration and wear out prematurely (because dot-4 fluid in hydraulic system of clutch engage/disengage will accumulate moisture). it is very important to check the cap of hydraulic fluid reservoir for any milky deposits and it is better to change fluid every 10k kms. after you change the fluid do remember to ask your mechanic to hook up a scanner and look for "Clutch zero-point learning error". In case of error recalibrate the clutch or it will eat itself up and will cost you US$2000 in replacement.
Mine is light gray inside with no piano black. It looks great! The seats are comfortable. It haul’s a lot. It gets 38 mpg on highway. It’s super easy to drive and it can maneuver easily. I actually love it. Only fault is the CVT is weird and it’s a gutless wonder!
Thank you for another superb video. I've driven a few of these and one pet peeve I have with them is that all clocks in the car (I think there are potentially three) require different settings to set them. Messes with your head when their hours are different from each other from the centre display to the right gauge 😁
Great report. I see that the owner has turned the driver headrest around, bc it will give u more space to keep your head up more strait and not be a "pain in the neck". I do the same since years. One problem u missed is, it has no 360 cam and no BSM=Blind spot monitor. The "Lane watch" is a lame solution, old and cheap if it's without BSM like in the HRV. Other then that, i love my 2020 HRV RS top model. Needs overall 5,9l/100km in 23600km. No problems with her only normal Honda services.I changed the Infotainment screen for a bigger aftermarket wireless 9" octa core Android Auto unit. Changed the wheels to Volk Racing TE37 18" front and 19" back. Lighter then the originals I'm so happy. Btw, i'm in Thailand and your HRV down under is also made here. Thank U and take care
I love the HRV but the only reason I won’t get one is because it can’t tow much. I saw it can only tow something like 800kg braked and 500 unbraked! We use a trailer for odd jobs / gardening stuff / tip runs so it’s a shame the towing is so low. Love the magic seats and the cup holder thing is so functional too! Great review😀
From memory the first integrated handle was an Alfa but I can't remember which one. I like the HRV, the interior is a nice place to be, I'm the same height (187) and it feels good.
Beeing an old retired male, of course I ride a Honda H-RV. And yes, it has a CVT transmission. Firstly, because manual gearboxes are from way far in the past i.m.h.o. and secondly, the inventor of the Variomatis, the first CVT transmissions with rubber belts, lived and worked very close to where I live. He invented the steel assembled push belt which is presently used in modern CVT transmissions. My H-RV is a 1.5 liter Turbo Sport and it has 134 kW or 182 hp. If I want I can shift up and down with peddles, but that I only use using the engine brake shifting down or descending a hill. As said before, why shift by hand if the CVT can do it better then the driver and much faster too. This H-RV has everything in the option list except for a glass roof and a tow bar. The car can pull 1400 kgs braked trailers or caravans. After having owned and driven a few BMW's with V8 engines, I can say that driving this H-RV is very pleasant, especially as there are not many around.
The HR-V has taken the crown off the KIA Carnival for best fuel consumption of the cars you guys have reviewed which is something I didn't think would happen until you were closer to the 500k subscriber mark. I think it was Citroen that did the handle hidden in the door design first but I can't be 100% positive. Also from the your the same height Adam as 34.18 Alba (subsidiary of Seiko watches) watch faces from top link to bottom link tall.(excluded the band as different sizes for different people) Also in the youtube Q&A video my old man said it looked like you had been trained as a jazz drummer from what he saw and i forgot to ask before if that was the case? Keep up the good work guys and have a good weekend 👍
I drive mine from Brisbane to my mine-site where i work every 21 days 900ks away .. and back Most comfortable car i have ever been in. I am 184cm and 125kg.. 2015 HRV vti.. 176,000ks drives and sounds like it just came off the show room floor.
I purposely bought a new 2022 HR-V *LX* (Florida, USA) - because I wanted a CD PLAYER (this was the ONLY Honda with one ... Boo👎). And I did NOT want all the fussy, distracting Honda Sensing features - way too complicated and just more stuff to go wrong later. I thoroughly love this vehicle. About the only real drawbacks are 1) the lack of storage space/cubbies in the front and, 2) all the black cloth all over the interior door panels. Not a good idea. 👎 My 2022 HR-V LX doesn't have the piano black plastic anywhere on the center console - just around the A/C and heater controls. But it does show dust badly. This is a very pleasant car to drive. It handles beautifully and is quiet and solid-feeling. Plenty of "get-up-and-go." Super gas mileage too. I'm happy to recommend this particular Honda (my third Honda , since 1997). 👍💕
I hate that car makers don’t put CD players in a lot of their vehicles. I just traded my 2008 Lexus RX350 that had a cd and cassette player. I’m going really miss that lol.
Honda isn't doing so well in Australia these days but their cars are usually really robust... It's ashamed the marketing team is trying to compete with luxury brands these days... Great video! This is off topic but you should do a review on a depreciated supercar or an E6X M5/M6 would also be cool!
@@User-cb4jm The main reason it hasn't worked for Honda is because aside from the latest Civic they haven't made their cars look premium enough, in fact they haven't updated them at all. That and they only have like 4 models in their entire range in Australia now.
Honda also stopped R&D during the GFC and has never really recovered. I used to love Honda but they are falling behind in what they offer for the price. Even MG are outselling them which is sad
I purchased a used 2017 with 60k miles for my daughter. The car performed well until around 100k miles. The CVT transmisson failed but Honda extended the warranty to 150k miles and replaced it at no charge. Another area of concern is the paint The Ivory pearl white color has a problem. It too was warrantied by Honda. Otherwise a great car with outstanding mileage and features,.
On safety, apparently this was one of 2 cars to receive a “Poor” side impact score when retested by the IIHS in 2021, the other being the Eclipse Cross. I think it’s good of them to raise the bar, it’s pointless to the consumer when every car gets 5 stars based on structural safety metrics from a decade ago. Even in that tougher crash test, most cars got a better rating of Marginal or Acceptable and only 1 got a “Good”. Worthwhile to checkout if you’re considering this car I think.
We get the imported vezel jdm hybrid which has a transmission reliability issue under bad service history. Pick of the bunch here is actually the hrv turbo cvt. But now only available as a hybrid.
Personally I enjoy the exterior appearance of my 2019, basically looks like a lifted hatchback. It’s not exactly quick, but the maintenance is a breeze and it’s quite cozy for long drives (took mine on a 1,600km drive recently)
Thanks for this informative video. I'm in the market or either a CR-V or HR-V. My heart is saying CR-V but my budget is saying HR-V> I'm more looking towards the CR-V for the bigger engine (2.4L) and slightly bigger physical size of the car. I'm also looking around the 2016 model VTI-L range.
Not sure if quite as integrate, and probably not the first… but all the old Nissan Pathfinder rear door handles seemed to blend in pretty well, going back to early 90’s i believe.
It’s funny that you say that the screen looks aftermarket because the early ones have a proper HondaLink infotainment screen that looks much more well integrated, but then again you don’t get CarPlay on those
Are you guys able to review the Holden Arcadia or the Holden Equinox, I’d be interested to know your thoughts on them as they both had a very short life span. Cheers guys keep up the good videos !
Very helpful review. This is one of the small SUVs I’m considering to replace my beloved 2016 Polo, which unfortunately has to go because my bank account can’t keep up with the cost of repairs. 😢 I never would have considered Honda (or even an SUV), but my friend has one of these and says it has been super reliable. My mechanic has warned me that parts and labour can be expensive for Hondas though, is this generally the case in Australia? It couldn’t be as expensive as VW parts at the very least. The other small SUVs I’m considering are the Vitara, CH-R (probably out of my price range though unfortunately), and the Yaris Cross (but I’m not too fussed on the aesthetics of these). And now I’m all confused as to whether I should hunt for a hybrid or settle with a slightly older edition for now. 🤷🏼♀️ There’s so much to think about when buying a bloody car.
I give a try to your trivia!! I remember that back handle integrated “in the mirror” in Alfa Romeo 147, since maybe 1999 or 2000.. don’t know if it was the first, but it surely had, and came before the Honda Civic 8th generation, with a similar design
The people who report the uncomfortable seat may due to the protruded lumbar support. It cannot be adjusted and on a long drive, it potentially made your back to slide a bit into the edge
My father once drove one. But he didn’t like it because of how it stinks (as it’s a rental car). My stepdad would be buying one for his use as a taxi, but it’s also called the Vezel
We have the same car but with a different name and different drivetrain we call this Honda Vezel and it comes with a 1.5 engine with a hybrid system and also with a DCT transmission
Hey guys. I just love your channel. We have been look to replace our old car for a while now and have used your advice to focus on and do some crossing out of cars on our list. One thing you often mention is replacement head units but not to go for cheep "internet" specials. We have narrowed down our car choice to the HRV but will want to have the head unit replaced. Do you have a recommendation of a quality replacement. Please keep the content coming. You guys are brilliant.
Great reviews and website, I’m just looking forward to see Mazda6 review. I think it’s a fantastic car in its price range, especially wagon version. I think its sweet spot on the line up is the Touring GL version which is not CVT, not turbo and although it has a very weird infotainment, still it has incredible safety features and good ride quality, at least on paper. Love to know your idea about Mazda6, especially about its last update (since 2018).
2:08 most countries could get a manual transmission and optional AWD (but only with the CVT). And 3:41 the first "car" with door handles like that was the Nissan Pathfinder/Terrano in 1987.
Depends on country of build. Here in the UK pre facelift models were Mexican made which could have some un-Honda like issues. The Japanese built facelift models we got subsequently were all good.
Hmmm Vti-S yes best spec for leather steering wheel. Whilst value reports they are zero fun hence we need a balance here as not everyone wants a fridge. Be good to compare to CH-R which gets optional AWD like the HRV gets in USA. Alfa 147 first with raised c pillar door handles? Slow down man also as your content too good to rush - that cutie in the boot btw was hot :) 😂🥰
Hrv in Pakistan are all imported from japan as honda vezel and all of them have 1.5 hybrid engines same as honda fit and tgeir feu Consumption is quite low if you drive them sensibly,
You should find the 1999/2000 model of the HRV - I owned the 3door and it was fantastic for the time. I wonder how they are holding up after all those years.
Good stuff and good review. I would've liked hearing this same review of a manual transmission FWD version of this vehicle too. Curious if any reliability and or longevity opinions would be different? Thankyou for the time and effort spent in making this segment.
It's fine for what it is, but considering competition in the subcompact crossover segment, it's kinda behind the times (still better than the Toyota CH-R though).
I bought a 2021 hrv and can confirm this car surprises with its fuel efficiency. Even with 80% city driving I see fuel efficiency figures of low 7's. Loving this car every day.
hey i also got an hr-v, have you had any problems with it so far? I just got a battery problem once with it, but just jumpstarted it and was fine.
Ive been avoiding this car because i thought it was a 2 door car... I had no idea the rear door handles were hidden. 🤯
I have one, I thought the rear handles were cool until I tried to open the rear door with a shopping bag in each arm. Or if you are carrying a box. Anytime both hands are occupied, the handle is too high to reach. Kitsch over practicality.
Honda did that with 8thcivic as well. (The space shuttle version)
I bought one from a auction and when I received it my father and I almost lost it when we thought we got a 2 door SUV. Then we found the handle and all was good 😂

Best thing about Friday is finishing work for the week? Nah it's ReDriven upload day 😩

Bought 2x from brand new and change to newer year…I love this car
This channel needs more love, it's so good
Alpha Romeo started the hidden handle, I have a 2015 vti-L nice to have all that space inside people are suprised how much I can fit especially when seats are folded, also side note reversing left side mirror tilts to see the curb 4 adaults will be comfortable!
Citroen ds4?
We owned a 2016 HRV EX AWD. It wasn't a 'bad' car and most people would probably be happy with it. For us, it just felt extremely underpowered and spartan. I have back issues and often would have lower back spasms getting up from the front seat after long rides.
Have you used "paddle shifters" properly?
I had one of the early Honda Integra's and it had 330,000 kms on the clock when i sold it .Never had any problems with it apart from a couple of dodgy CV's and that was the fault of the parts supplier sending out the wrong set , surprising what a difference 3mm will make .Love Hondas thats why i have a Mazda six now , go figure .
Yeah Mazda appears to have held onto its passion for driving dynamics a little better
the real bastard of the bunch is 7 speed DCT, Hybrid variant.
Bought Sept 2015 and still running good.. bear 400k km change cvt blet after 9 years of using it.. and still running good
Mine is light gray inside with no piano black.
I think the first one who did the secret handle thing was the Alfa Romeo 156
I still remember the first time I saw it. What a beautiful car! Still!
I always loved the old ugly looking one, to me it looked sporty
We have a 2016 hrv 79,000 miles as our second car for our new family. 🤞
Boy are they handy!! The magic seats!
They can tow 500kg unbraked? I was under the assumption that they could only tow 350kg unbraked
Love my HRV, comfortable to drive and love the body lines
We do too. What year do you have
Just bought the 2021 sport version with 22,000 miles. Love it!
Excellent!
From memory the first integrated handle was an Alfa but I can't remember which one. I like the HRV, the interior is a nice place to be, I'm the same height (187) and it feels good.
I think the integrated door handle was Honda NSX and Alfa copied it
Alfa Romeo 156
What year?
@@irelandforever5620
Year 2020 first license plate issued.
@@erikloupias7511Just got a 2020 here too, interesting that I don't see that many
2018 - 2019 HR-V had a recall for the fuel pump
The HR-V has taken the crown off the KIA Carnival for best fuel consumption of the cars you guys have reviewed which is something I didn't think would happen until you were closer to the 500k subscriber mark.
I think it was Citroen that did the handle hidden in the door design first but I can't be 100% positive.
Also from the your the same height Adam as 34.18 Alba (subsidiary of Seiko watches) watch faces from top link to bottom link tall.(excluded the band as different sizes for different people)
Also in the youtube Q&A video my old man said it looked like you had been trained as a jazz drummer from what he saw and i forgot to ask before if that was the case?
Keep up the good work guys and have a good weekend 👍
Thanks for the inclusion of the international pricing section, much appreciated
I drive mine from Brisbane to my mine-site where i work every 21 days 900ks away .. and back Most comfortable car i have ever been in. I am 184cm and 125kg.. 2015 HRV vti.. 176,000ks drives and sounds like it just came off the show room floor.
1987MY Chevrolet Beretta and 1988MY Buick Regal coupe had the integrated door handle in a pillar in October 1986 and October 1987 respectively.
We just bought a white 2024 model. Perfect car for retired seniors.
My 2022 HR-V LX doesn't have the piano black plastic anywhere on the center console - just around the A/C and heater controls.
Is it the new models (new design)?
Honda isn't doing so well in Australia these days but their cars are usually really robust... It's ashamed the marketing team is trying to compete with luxury brands these days... Great video!
This is off topic but you should do a review on a depreciated supercar or an E6X M5/M6 would also be cool!
Mazda is also positioning themselves as Japanese mainstream premium but they’re selling like hotcakes so not sure what led to Hondas downfall here.
Honda moved to Fixed pricing and the buying public were like hell no
@@User-cb4jm The main reason it hasn't worked for Honda is because aside from the latest Civic they haven't made their cars look premium enough, in fact they haven't updated them at all. That and they only have like 4 models in their entire range in Australia now.
Honda also stopped R&D during the GFC and has never really recovered. I used to love Honda but they are falling behind in what they offer for the price. Even MG are outselling them which is sad
Excellent car we had for 7 years no problem
I purchased a used 2017 with 60k miles for my daughter. The car performed well until around 100k miles. The CVT transmisson failed but Honda extended the warranty to 150k miles and replaced it at no charge. Another area of concern is the paint The Ivory pearl white color has a problem. It too was warrantied by Honda. Otherwise a great car with outstanding mileage and features,.
Manual, 6 Speed 1.6 i-Dtec, very good torque and economical top engine
On safety, apparently this was one of 2 cars to receive a “Poor” side impact score when retested by the IIHS in 2021, the other being the Eclipse Cross. I think it’s good of them to raise the bar, it’s pointless to the consumer when every car gets 5 stars based on structural safety metrics from a decade ago. Even in that tougher crash test, most cars got a better rating of Marginal or Acceptable and only 1 got a “Good”. Worthwhile to checkout if you’re considering this car I think.
Are u serious now u got me worried
You mean this year of car?
This generation HRV received a five star rating from EURO - NCAP
Great review, what's up with the headrests? Looks like there are on the wrong way around... And that car really needs a good clean
I chose to watch this video since i had my mind set on the 2015 hrv and honestly i got to test drive it and was it amazing
Woah, I'm from the states, and didn't know about the original HR-V that little truck looks kinda cool!
Great video, guys! Can you also make a review for the CR-V and Camry?
Also, where can we get Redriven merch?
Thanks for this informative video. I'm in the market or either a CR-V or HR-V. My heart is saying CR-V but my budget is saying HR-V> I'm more looking towards the CR-V for the bigger engine (2.4L) and slightly bigger physical size of the car. I'm also looking around the 2016 model VTI-L range.
The 22' version is matured to a real hottie!
Yes! Agreed
Not sure if quite as integrate, and probably not the first… but all the old Nissan Pathfinder rear door handles seemed to blend in pretty well, going back to early 90’s i believe.
The HRV sells like hotcakes here in Indonesia
Is not a good car CVT is very bad transmission
It’s funny that you say that the screen looks aftermarket because the early ones have a proper HondaLink infotainment screen that looks much more well integrated, but then again you don’t get CarPlay on those
Are you guys able to review the Holden Arcadia or the Holden Equinox, I’d be interested to know your thoughts on them as they both had a very short life span. Cheers guys keep up the good videos !
They're rubbish.
Just don't
Might have been the Alfa 156 but certainly an Alfa.
Didn't the RX7 do this as well? I know it's not a 4 door though so maybe doesn't count
The 2023 HR-V isn’t just big but also took away the magic seat. 2022 lack it too. I guess I’ll go an older model.
The 3rd Gen HRV coming in April will have Jazz's powertrain a 1.5 non-turbo engine. Gonna be real slow .
1 was seen testing in Thailand with dual tailpipes... So there might be a slight chance after all.
Best Aussie Car Reviews by far
You’re far too kind. Thank you!
We have the same car but with a different name and different drivetrain we call this Honda Vezel and it comes with a 1.5 engine with a hybrid system and also with a DCT transmission
You should do a video on aftermarket parts and accessories, and rate them :)
Mazda 6 (and hopefully a wagon) is coming soon mate. - AK
@@ReDriven Great 👍
Alfa Romeo 156 - first car with hidden reach door handles. 😉 Loved it, although it was sooo unreliable.
seats are a bit uncomfortable for big guys and bears on long road trips - so I have a wee cushion I put on the drivers side for the ol undercarriage
Got a 2019, LOVE IT
My Honda jazz has 368000 KMs on it and going really well. Might update to a hrv for the next car
2:08 most countries could get a manual transmission and optional AWD (but only with the CVT). And 3:41 the first "car" with door handles like that was the Nissan Pathfinder/Terrano in 1987.
The HR-V forum I run a lot of people complain about their new cars being noisey, creaking seats/interior, clunking over bumps & uncomfortable rides.
What's the name of the forum please?
Hrv in Pakistan are all imported from japan as honda vezel and all of them have 1.5 hybrid engines same as honda fit and tgeir feu
Consumption is quite low if you drive them sensibly,
i must say - you guys are awesome presenters - and writers 👍
I love The HRV's Exterior and very funky and sleek
Overall I'm happy with my hrv but my biggest pet peeve are terrible blind spots on the A pillars. Have to crane my neck in tight corners
Nissan Juke had hidden rear door handles. I had one. Love my HRV
You should find the 1999/2000 model of the HRV - I owned the 3door and it was fantastic for the time. I wonder how they are holding up after all those years.
thanks for this awesome review
Thanks for watching!
the first car to have integrated handles in the pillar is the Alfa Romeo 156 i think
First car I remember to have the knob intergrated to "window" was the Nissan Pathfinder.
I thought the Chevrolet Spark was the 1st with integrated rear door handles but after Googling I believe it was Alfa Romeo.
Which year hrv is considered all round the best, 2018-2022?
Good stuff and good review. I would've liked hearing this same review of a manual transmission FWD version of this vehicle too. Curious if any reliability and or longevity opinions would be different? Thankyou for the time and effort spent in making this segment.
It's fine for what it is, but considering competition in the subcompact crossover segment, it's kinda behind the times (still better than the Toyota CH-R though).
That's why we like the LX version
