That is Honda quality for you 😂 They get a lot of things right, but just like every other auto maker, they’ll always have a couple things that they just can’t quite get right. 😂 Thank you for watching!
Hi, I have the same color. Your review was fun. I agree with the streaky windshield wipers and mines have been changed, and they still streak. Also, I agree with the trunk not opening all the time. I do love that it is compact and roomy inside. Overall, this is my 1st car purchase and I still love it.
Thank you very much for the kind words, I appreciate it! I’m happy that you and some other viewers are on the same page with us. These small little issues aren’t really enough to make you get rid of the car, but they can get annoying in the day to day. I hope you enjoy your HR-V, thank you for watching!
2015 in Australia, wipers have always worked perfectly, only changed the blades once in all that time. No coolant temp gauge is annoying. Cup holders work fine with a normal size cup here, we don’t normally use giant cups like you have! Extremely reliable, we’ve done 175000km. Don’t like the space saver spare wheel, I replaced it with a second hand full size spare, fits ok but have to leave out the large spongy insert! Changing which phone is connected is too hard, better to turn off the Bluetooth on the phone you want disconnected and wait for the other phone to connect 😂.
I don't have that trunk opening problem. I have the manual transmission model 2018 and it STILL gets on it! I'm STILL flying! I'm sorry to all the people who got the CVT transmission. 🙁 The engine lasts forever, so there's that!
Nice video 👍 Bought a 2017 about a year ago with around 45k miles. Did the trans fluid change at about 50K, and it seems to run great, but I would love to add a turbo to overtake people better on the freeway - downshifting to S definitely props it up though. My biggest software gripe is that the infotainment system is that the HondaLink app has NEVER worked despite my phone having no problems connecting to bluetooth. The right mirror camera is kind of gimmicky, but nice, nonetheless. Biggest hardware gripe is the lack of coolant gauge and cupholder design, like you mentioned. I do love the trunk space, and that the rear seat bottoms can fold upward and lock. Had I done more research before, I'd have gone with a 2019 for the volume knob addition, alone! 😆
Yeah man I totally feel you, I wish we would’ve known or we would have waited for 2019 model to have Apple CarPlay and have the volume knob too. The S mode does make it a little more sprightly so I will give Honda that, and even though it is slow, I like that it doesn’t have a turbo, but I’m still dying for more power 😂 Thank you very much for watching and thank you for the kind words!
I have the same color, model and year, but without the touchscreen and only at 33,000.00 miles. Have you replaced the recently recalled part called 'fuel bump module?' If you have, have you noticed a difference in acceleration?
I think we got the letter in the mail, haven’t gotten it replaced yet because the car has been running fine, but I think the next time we bring it in for an oil change we’ll ask and see if we can get that done the same day, but so far still running good without it done yet! Thank you for watching! -Ceall

I have a 2015 Civic with similar engine and transmission and the CVT is not bad but I know what you mean! But it’s not bad for everyday city driving and its great on gas I still love Hondas and might check out a CRV or Acura SUV in the future! (Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Mazda, Chevy)
I actually have more fun in the city with a CVT than I do with a regular transmission. But when I'm on the highway I"m always craving a regular transmission. 😂 Thank you for watching, I hope the Civic gives you many more years!
I have a 2019 HRV Ex-L I purchased one year ago this week with 7,000 miles. Now it has 19,000. I'm very content with it. Still learning the options on it. (i'm71) thanks for review. Have same trunk problem as you. Thought it was just me. ha. (Western Mass . here)
Thank you for watching! I’m glad we’re not the only ones. We thought we had a defective one. I guess Honda’s quality control department overlooked this one. 😂 Good luck with the car, other than that it’s been a solid, reliable machine for us!
my dad has a 2022 model and the belt tensioner went out with only 22k miles. So much for honda reliability but atleast it happened before the warranty ended so it was still covered under warranty.
I’m sorry to hear that man. Toyota and Honda aren’t exactly what they used to be, still good, but not as good as their ancestors before them. I’m glad it happened while it was still under warranty. My 2021 Silverado needed a new throttle body at 32k miles, replaced under warranty. These newer cars always seem to have some little bug that needs tending to. Thank you for watching!
I also have 18 hrv you hit everything exactly rite! But I also noticed it surges quite a bit around 20 mph witch is really annoying and the seats are not very comfortable at all !
That might be due to the CVT, definitely takes some getting used to when coming from a regular automatic transmission vehicle. I don’t have too much of an issue with the seat comfort, but I definitely do wish they went back further and some better lumbar support would be nice too. Thank you for watching!
Our 2016 HR-V did the exact same thing with trunk opening while we had it. It felt as if it needed another second to actually open the latch or something
I have the same year car and found that there is a button on the handle of the hatchback door that you have to press while opening it with the key fob in your pocket without touching the key fob buttons. Sometimes I miss pressing this handle button and it won’t open. But there are times even with pressing the button it still doesn’t. Also, I do have the streaky windshield wiper issue but not the noise when they are in motion.
I will take a look for the button next time I drive the car. Just seemed like such an odd design for what I thought should be a simple feature 😂 Thank you for the tip! I wish Honda would issue a recall for the wipers lol, not that it’s a safety issue but it’s just very annoying lol. Thank you for watching!
Totally agree! Had mine for over three years before noticing that handle button! You really have to feel for it because it’s right under the lip of the handle and it’s the full width of the handle. Wipers are a pain!
I wish I had CarPlay ability honestly. I definitely wish I could upgrade the navigation system on the exl model. I also realized that if u unlock the car from the driver side fully the truck is also unlocked. Definitely wish it was faster as well but definitely a great car
The CarPlay is definitely something we were disappointed that we didn’t have when we found out we didn’t. We are excited to upgrade to a Mazda CX-5 at some point to have a nicer interior and some better get up and go. Thank you for watching!

They’re a very odd design cupholder. The only cup that really fits this properly is a Yeti water bottle. Anything else and it just doesn’t work well, good idea on Honda’s part, just poor execution. Thank you for watching!
