@samia elmi Literally no one is doing anything; Somaliland is separating from _you,_ on their own accord, and they seem to be doing rather well for themselves. Maybe instead of focusing on keeping disputed areas together, try working on developing what remains of you, especially as the separated part is moving on and actually doing better than you?

For anyone interested in Somaliland, Rare Earth has been doing a series on the culture of Somaliland. I believe the most recent video in that series is about Laas Geel, the paintings on the rocks which are briefly shown here.
i was just from watching the video
So happy! I’ve followed Geography Now for a wee while now & worked in S’land on & off for 4 years. It is peaceful & the people are bright & friendly. 😊

Wow. This was a really powerful video. I knew pretty much nothing about Somaliland before, but after watching these three minutes of footage, I feel like now get what Somaliland is like.
ABSOLUTELY beautiful video.
I know you're showing the political difference between Somalia and Somaliland, but as a people group, my heart is with Somalis 💞💞💞
I'm from Columbus, Ohio. We go neck and neck with Minneapolis when it comes to the highest population of Somali people in the U.S. I grew up with, worked with and I'm friends with people from Somalia.
Side note, not to your channel, but to your followers. There is no such thing as a "Somalian". They're not Somalian, they're Somali.
People need to open their eyes to the rest of the world, especially here in North America. I love, love, LOVE what you've done here on your channel. It's why I'm here.
Love you, Somalia, Somaliland. You've shaped the culture in the city I come from and it's so great to see not only a positive light shed on you, but just a normal light shed on you. People in the U.S. are scared of Detroit so they're obviously gonna be scared of Somaliland. People are just scared of what they're unfamiliar with and it's great to see the normalcy of another culture on such a large platform.
It's refreshing to hear this, people usually associate us with gangs and pirates but we are really friendly people who are just trying to survive thank you!
well. thanks for your concern , i'm from Somaliland and i wish my brothers in Somalia peace and all Somalis around the world a good successful life .
Thank you for the love. From Khatumo state of Somalia (not part of Somaliland).
Jenn Righter thank you very much I really appreciate your love to Somali people as whole. And for your concern, let me tell you sister that we love each other and there is no different or hatred between Somaliland and Somalia(just political difference exists) but fortunately people love each other. I am very happy to see such open mind people like you.

Putting these kind of places in the spotlight in such a classy, objective, committed yet light-hearted way is just one of many ways in which we can aspire to become a better society.
This kind of journalistic videos help us, the viewers, to be more empathetic and sensitive of the cultures abroad, as well as encourage us to strengthen our shared faculties while also celebrating our differences.
Congratulations! :) And greetings from Mexico!
Beautifully put. 👏
Thank you for this video about my beloved country Somaliland.
Growing up in Somaliland I never knew that we were not considered a country we have our own currency or own flag our own education system.
Somaliland was an independent country before it united with Somalia and it was recognized by more than 35 countries I hope the world release that and recognize us.
Somaliland was seperate country, because the Europeans divided it. The British took Somaliland and the Italians took the rest of Somalia.
We are both Somalis, We are both Muslim, we both speak Somali, I dont know why Somaliland really wants to be seperate independent country. We are the same people with same culture and religion.
We should be United
@@kejserrige Lies Somalis as a whole where never a united ethnic prior to the formation of the Somali Republic in 1960. Hell, Somaliland alone had two Sultans, and three Ugaases ruling their own Sultanates and Kingdoms tell the British established the British Somaliland protectorate.
Somalia had the Hoboyo, Majerteen and Geledi Sultanates from the top of my head that I remember.
Somalis where never a united bunch.
Edit: by the logic of "we are Muslim, speak the same language, and are same ethnicity why should we be different countries", Austria should not exist and should be apart of Germany, Canada, America, Australia, and New Zealand should be apart of the UK,
Brazil should be apart of Portugal, I won't even get started with Spain.
You see how ridiculous this agreement looks? We have parted our ways for nearly three decades. Time to move on and develop your country and leave us alone.
@@ogolow570 How do you parts ways when Somaliland doesn't govern Khatumo State and we want nothing do with Somaliland?
@@somalimar5652 Khatumo state does not exist anymore. Look up on Somaliland politics.
Warsame Jibriil Yuusuf look at Ethiopia who are united despite their differences in culture and religion. They are united because they know the harsh truth which is they can only survive and not be exploited if the nation stays together. If Ethiopians were divided Somalia would’ve conquered them a long time ago.
Somalis on the other hand want to all be divided and not have anything to do with each other despite being pretty much the same people just because of a war that EVERYONE (not specific groups) suffered from. We have to see the bigger picture and turn our anger to all those who are holding up the country from developing weather its al shabab, our failed government or even Ethiopian government (recall 2006), instead of blaming each other and breaking up.
Why are we still putting up with this useless powerless government in Mogadishu who can’t run anyone and who just care about their pockets. Why do we continue to just act like nothing is happening when alshabab can bomb who they want with impunity. If this was happening in any other nation there would’ve been backlash and unrest from the people and there would’ve been change.
I hope for great and brave Somali individuals who aren’t afraid to stand up for what’s right and fight the corruption and injustice even if that means threats and danger to their lives.
Every president or leader we had always has hopes and plans but they all seem to forget them when they become president because they are scared of being targeted by Somalia’s enemies who want instability to continue. You either become a part of the system or die an early death, i wish someone would break that trend.

There's no problem to show the coca cola logo on video, it has company copy right, not film copy right, it's not like showing a movie or something, it also would be publicity for coca cola ¿so why would they sue?.
Maybe he'd have to pay coca cola to show their logo in this video. I'm not sure.

The only free democratic country in the regions with good economic potential given the huge mineral resources it poses. Somalilanders tend to be incredibly good looking and very friendly
Somaliland is not a free or functioning most of its facilities are going bankrupt including their airport. Anyone who is a unionist is arrested or anyone with any different opinion is arrested. Somalia is currently building a decentralised government and defeating al shabaab. Somaliland is not democratic but a city state(hargeisa). Somalilland troops are defecting to Somalia by the thousands. They are in constant turmoil for the control of hargeisa. Somaliland rulers are epitome of tribalisms rot of east Africa.
