    • @xuzeh
      @xuzeh Месяц назад

      That is both correct and incorrect. Every Brazilian family (born or resident) is genuine.
      Small infringement (mitigated by the high probability/possibility of this being misunderstood): these are the times of harvest; every individual and collective will face/behold/witness their creations. Not a punishment nor judgement, just a way to ensure that such a consequence/fact is indeed a personal preference. Thus, the distortions of old are no longer applicable. No single entity is more valid than another. No entity has lower or higher moral ground.
      A favela family is as divine and pure as a wealthy family in a penthouse or in a large farmstead. There too many layers of reality yet unknown and some may cause you too much turmoil when they soon arise. Not due to something bad will happen, but because you will realize what was the meaning of this game called The Earth Grand Experiment.
      If you were truly a service to self driven entity, you would not be here commenting. Thus, I humbly suggest that you integrate all parts of your perceived reality within yourself.
      Regardless, all is well, my divine friend.

    Even though you didn't get to experience what Brasil normally shows to the world (beaches, samba, rain forests) which are indeed true brazilian expressions, you managed to get a sense of the other brasil (which is actually the majority of brasil). The interior and its large farmlands, new fruits and flavors, people who arent "used" to foreigners so will treat you the "brazilian way" without having an "act" towards gringos.
    Both are amazing, but I feel you got a bit more than the average turist.

    • @joaoerlacher

      Btw.. about highraises. We dont sprawl like the US does with its suburbs. Most of our cities will have buildings ranging from 8/14 floors and we dont consider them "high". Also by population standards if Londrina isnt a big city Atlanta cant be considered as well. Of course Londrina isnt a metropolis, but it also not small. Lets say Londrina is like Oklahoma city hahaha

    15:10 - These trees are called "Araucarias", basically conifers adapted to warmer regions. As there is practically no snow in Brazil (only on very rare occasions and in very specific regions), Araucarias don't have the notorious shape of pine trees from the northern hemisphere, as their conical shape makes it easier for snow to slide down their branches.

    • @rodrigopereira2694
      @rodrigopereira2694 2 месяца назад +17

      Araucarias are one of the oldest conifer genders in the world, those tree have been around when the dinosaurs were roaming around. There are other species of araucaria you can find in Australia and other islands in Oceania, and there is one species in the Andes mountains in Patagonia(araucaria araucana), where temperatures drop to -20ºC(~-1ºF) and those trees are buried under 3 feet of snow every winter. Once they covered Antarctica too, this gender is a subtropical and temperate gender, you won't find it in trully tropical climates, places without frosts, for example, Londrina and most of Parana gets some frosts every winter.

Brazilian fan here, and while some people are talking about how much of Brazil still to be seen and explored by you in your next trips (and I agree, there are a ton of excellent and unique places), I'd like to say how happy and impressed I was with you and your mom being able to taste what the real Brazilian experience is, at least for me.
    You had the oportunity to go to two of the most tipical day-to-day life scenarios for dozens of millions of Brazilians: the urban middle and lower class houses in São Paulo (which is alike at the other metropolitan areas as well), and the small cities at the countrysides. That's two major Brazilian experiences that almost no tourist has.

      @@macdealer7936 I disagree. I'm not from Londrina but I've been there and around Paraná. Londrina is a good example of a smallish city that represents how a lot of cities deep in the south states of Brazil look like. For Barbs to visit São Paulo, its favelas and a south city like Londrina, he got to see some interesting sides of Brazil.
      Londrina may not be flashy, but it does represents how some cities in the south are. Also, in Londrina he is much closer to Foz do Iguaçu, making it viable for him to visit another interesting place that he probably couldn't if he had gone to Porto Alegre or Florianópolis. Don't be sour for no reason to our brazilian cities :)
      If Barbs chooses to visit again, he could go to the Northeastern states to get to know more sides of Brazil. Salvador and Recife are a good examples of the representation of big cities in this part of the country in which he can contrast with how São Paulo is.

    My husband and I finished this video in tears. Our country is so beautiful, and we forget that. We live in Curitiba, also in the state of Paraná, but I'm from Rio and he's from Florianópolis, the capital of another southern state. Your point of view of the little details around our country and culture is touching. Our country is truly amazing, but unfortunately, life is very hard for most people here. We work a lot to barely make ends meet and buy the strictly necessary to survive. So many of us want to get out of here, not because we don't love the country but because we want more, we dream of having more for us and our families and enjoying more of life. But a video like that reminds us that we could have it all here if only people weren't so exploited and could better enjoy the fruits of their work. Anyway, thank you for this video.❤

    On the subject of historical parallels, I had an old Brazilian coworker here in the US that I got into a pretty deep conversation with, regarding history.
    He said something about how "the American government hides its past mistakes, while the Brazilian government hides its past triumphs." Which I think meant that at some point in history Brazil could have been the 20th century superpower in the Americas instead of the US. Not to trifle on about misplaced nationalism but if you look at Brazil's track record, the guy had a fair point

    • @antoniocampos5638
      @antoniocampos5638 3 месяца назад

      They hide past triumphs, blatantly lie about it, because Brazilians would definitely question what the establishment has done and keeps on doing it.
      Let's say the mess didn't start, but certainly got a lot worse with a military coup against the 2nd emperor, favoring some regional oligarchs, then they call it a democratic constitutional republic, even though only economical and new political oligarchs could actually decide anything and the will of the people is what they say. So basically, a similar path politically like some of the worst countries, dictatorships (collected a few open ones, plus veiled ones in Brazil's political history).
      The funny part is the professional clown that got elected wasn't the biggest clown in politics. Total 🤡🌎

      I think what that guy meant was that we tend to forget how great we are. That's a thing people do a lot over here, not just in politics, we have the tendency to think that anything that isn't brazilian is instantly better.

    So south of Brazil reminds me very much of the American southeast. Highway transit, billboards around everywhere, giant fruits sculptures or statues, fields of soy. Although the southeast doesn’t have as large swaths of land full of the crop, I’ll give that to Brazil. This was an amazing video Barbs. Best Regards from N.C

      I haven't spent a whole lot of time in the South, but the few times I have been there (mainly Georgia and Louisiana) I didn't see any giant sculptures of fruit. Are those more a North Carolina thing? (They and other "big things" sculptures are also popular in Australia.)

    • @SirShtrumz
      @SirShtrumz 3 месяца назад +2

      @@andyjay729 there are some in Georgia. Mainly what I am aiming at with this comment are staple landmarks and points of interests that a town claim as their identities. One I know for a fact is the Gaffney Peach in S.C. It’s a water tower on the major highway from Atlanta GA up to Charlotte N.C. It’s not just fruits though, it can be any staple of a town or, for example, cash crops. For instance the peach is because South Carolina is the second most producing state for peaches after California and right before third place spot which is Georgia. Furthermore, the county and town in S.C is known for peach orchards and growing peaches. Another example of staple products being made into mascots, icons or landmarks is in Japan or the American Midwest. I don’t know if the grape statue in the video is a staple of the town but with the examples that I know it seems very similar. Basically there are snippets of pride within an agrarian lifestyle in these places.

    The new year eve made me tear up a little bit, Brazilians always spends new year eve with family and very close friends and this reminded me of mi childhood with my late gramps and all the family members that dont come together anymore to celebrate, for me it was the best part of the video showing how we are united and happy even if the situation i'snt the best.

    Man, I LOVE the honest and realistic depiction of the day-to-day life of ordinary people, not glamorized.
    Success to your channel, brother.

      It was only São Paulo! Tiririca got elected in a similar way to Zelensky's Ukraine election! Both came from comedy into politics, showing how frustrated people are with the system. Tiririca’s "Pior que tá não fica" vibe is similar to Zelensky’s TV show president who actually became president. Both got elected as a protest against the political establishment, and both actually did work seriously (sometimes) in their positions.

      He was actually the congressman to attend the highest amount of meetings during his tenure, and even authored a couple of laws pertinent to the circus workers community, the one he was actually knowledgeable about. Overall, a better than most politicians in Brazil, despite his run being a straight up joke / protest thing.

    Hey Paul, What's up?!
    I'm Brazilian and I have been following you since the episode about... Brazil!
    On that day I got curious about what do other countries think about Brazil? So I searched on RUclips and found your video (It had been release a few months before). And, cause I love geography as well, on that day I watched almost all the videos you had made by that point.
    Glad you enjoyed visiting this crazy country.

But the food was on a whole different level of delicious. I'm glad you were able to experience the Southern part of Brazil. I would love to do that someday
