Happy weekend Dr Dray…I had psoriasis everywhere on my body, on my scalp I had infection after infection. I’m now having Stelara injections every 12 weeks and I have no more psoriasis on my body or scalp! I’ve had it since I was11 it’s the first time I’ve seen my knees and elbows and it’s wonderful….see you tomorrow x💙🤩
I've never had any form of psoriasis but the picture of the scalp psoriasis in your thumbnail looks absolutely miserable and painful. My heart goes out to anyone dealing with any form of this. Hopefully the tips you've given can help some people. You're the best, Dr Dray! Happy Friday!! I hope you, your sweet momma and little Tybee have a fantastic weekend! 💟
My momma had Psoriasis & I remember as a kid that people stared at her & she always felt embarrassed, I always felt so bad for her. Back then they really didn’t really seem to know how to treat or diagnose it. I feel for people that have anything that makes people stare at them. Thank you for the video! Have a great weekend!❤️
My daughter has psoriasis I remember being on holiday in Turkey when she was around 16 and people were actually stopping and staring at her ! I felt so bad for her and wished it was me that had it and not her 😢
@margieryne6220 She's almost 33 now and only recently started new treatment by injection so far treatment is working well..I hope your mam has improved aswel 🙂
Everyday I hit the like button on your videos whether I view it or not. Today's vlog really hit home as I have had scalp psoriasis for 30 years! So true about the friction aspect, tight hairstyles. Also stress and certain foods can agrivate the condition. Love your new home! It has so much style and class just like you!
As someone with sebopsoriasis, thank you so much for acknowledging the struggle of this condition and offering tips! I love t sal and have used coal tar shampoos since I was a child. I have prescription shampoos and ointments and stuff to help control mine, but it helps to have things to keep it at bay before it comes to those!
Thank you so much for this video! It’s like you posted it just for me! Ever since I began menopause, my scalp psoriasis has pretty much exploded. I’ve been using Dermarest shampoo, and it definitely helps with the itch and gets rid of flakes, but the psoriasis is still there. I have a dermatologist appointment coming up. Hopefully they will be able to prescribe me something. This video was so helpful with all the tips!
The not picking is the hardest because if I don't remove it I'm literally flaking all over the place, with every movement of my head. It's the absolute worst.
Pro tip for medicated shampoos. I apply the shampoo with a little bit of water and apply it BEFORE getting in the shower and wait the 5 minutes before getting in. Saves lots of water and you’re not just standing around in the shower for 5 minutes doing nothing 😂
How have I not thought of this 😂 I don’t need anything medicated at the moment, but I do like blue/purple shampoos to help cut down brassiness (it also helps my grays look bright and silvery, not yellowish from heat/styling products). They are more effective when you wait a few minutes before rinsing. - The bathroom where I shower is happens to be in the back of the house, where in Florida it’s common to have a door to the back patio in case the homeowner ever builds a pool. That shower is HUGE - over 3 feet by 5 feet - and I keep a bunch of topical houseplants in there (I have a grow light on a timer for them). - So…I water those plants while I’m in the shower to pass the time. Obviously I use cool water, so it also keeps me from using hot water for the entire shower. I used to only wash my hair every 2-4 weeks (sensory/energy/spoon related reasons, especially when I had long hair that took HOURS of maintenance), and washing my hair reminds me to water my plants. Watering my plants reminds me it’s time for the full shower. Now I do it every 7-10 days. - Plus, watering my plants in the shower is sooooo much easier when I don’t have to worry about splashing water everywhere. My plants are happier, especially since the shower retains humidity much better being fully tiled - even on the ceiling - with glass doors and only about 1 foot of open space on the front side. Win, win!!
Usually people wash their body while they wait the 5 min, I've never not had anything to take up that time 😂 you can also just turn off the water and stay in the shower while you wait
I worked in a salon that often held open days for the homeless. You can imagine all the conditions we came across. And we always diluted shampoo and applied to dry dirty hair and let it sit for a minute or two before adding water. It's really much easier esp for people who pile on oils or products or someone whose hair is extremely dirty for whatever reason. Clients who had psoriasis or dermatitis usually brought their own medicated products which we also diluted first. We found we used less medicated shampoo and distributed easier through the hair and scalp. We never applied condition near the scalp either but that's not always possible with textured hair
These are great recommendations. For me, MG217 is the best for a flare up and then I use Dermarest for maintenance. The MG217 definitely has a heavy coal tar smell but I dont mind it and my other hair products seem to overtake the coal tar smell. The Neutrogena products never worked for me. It seems like people who like Neutrogena hate MG217 and vice versa.
Between having crappy insurance and not wanting to take a biologic such as Humira or Otezla which gave me insomnia, alternating different medicated shampoos, and occasionally some clobetasol solution on my scalp for itch is about all I can do. When I’m having a particularly severe flare, I’ve been known to alternate between salicylic acid shampoo, ketoconazole shampoo, and a cold tar shampoo. I guess T Gel was taken off the market because people are afraid of it. Personally, I love the smell of cold tar. I know that sounds weird, but I really do like that fragrance. I will alternate the shampoo over period of weeks, but I only do that if I’m having a particularly bad flare. I don’t know why doesn’t take psoriasis more seriously. I also have it on my legs and I wear pants all year long. It’s embarrassing. I miss wearing dresses, but I’m stuck. Fortunately, I’m old nobody really cares.
Bah! You should be able to wear what you want no matter your age. The insurance situation is so frustrating. I’m sorry you haven’t been able to find more help. I hope some of her tips help.
Hey Hey Friday! 💙💜💖 I literally have 2 boxes of that exact Dermarest on my counter because my husband found them on clearance. He bought it for himself however, after your explanation of psoriasis I might have it on the hairline above my forehead. I will try it out for a couple weeks & see if it improves. Nothing like he has but I can't imagine it will hurt to try. Thank You for suggesting specific Brands!
I was prescribed Ketoconazole for my psorias and it seems to work. I always wondered as you speak about it often related to seb derm. I started alternating with Ketoconazole and happy cappy med shampoo and also use that on my face. It seems to work well and helps manage reoccurring frequency. Do you think it would help to also inude the salicylic shampoo? I really appreciate your videos.
Hi Jackie! Happy Friday!! I hope you had a wonderful day and hope you are doing well. It was another pretty day here. No rain in sight in the extended forecast though. I had a busy 9 hour day with lots of cute fur babies. Bean the dachshund and Forest the rat terrier to name a couple. Thank you! Spouse was really missing the Neutrogena TGel and has the TGel/Sal but found the MG217 tonight. I predict a happier spouse tomorrow and they heard the conditioner advice and will mooch mine until they find something better.
Could you review the Moogoo brand? I’m more of an Aveeno person but my dads recently purchased it, looking at the ingredients (of their moisturiser) nothing is alarming but I wanted a professional opinion I can't yet find about its effectiveness and safety as a “natural” brand. Best regards love you vids !!! ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this helpful information. Are you no longer recommending the t-gel shampoo? That one always worked for me but I can no longer get it in Canada.
Nizoral is the only thing that helped me. After every prescription available I was desperate. I saw Nizoral advertised and thought I have nothing to loose. The change was immediate. I still use it today and I can’t use any product so I keep my hair short. This was a life saver. 🇨🇦😱
The problem with ordering off amazon is you never know what you're getting. There are too many counterfeit and fake products of that site and I don't trust them for things I put on or in my body. I found everything listed here available at CVS, Walgreens, and/or Walmart for others who also don't want to deal with amazon.
I have psoriatic arthritis and plaque psoriasis. In the top of my scalp it’s more like single sores and at the back, near the neckline, it’s the plaque-which might I add hurts and itches so bad. Are these the shampoos I should be using? I have more of the rash type on my back, which is also itchy, but the plaque is so horrible. I’m on a new biologic so it’s not had time to hopefully work.
What really worked to remove all scalp plaques and plaques on the forehead next to the scalp and back of the ears was P&S Shampoo made by Bakers and Cummings. I had this applied to my scalp while in hospital. I have never found anything nearly as effective. The bad news is that it does not seem to be made anymore.
I used to use Nizoral which worked really well but then I developed a fragrance allergy and can't use it. Is there a fragrance free shampoo for sebopsoriasis?
Dr Dray I saw you video of your Costco run on your next visit to Costco can you review the ingredients on this shampoo offer at Costco it’s called Dr.for hair that claims it’s reduces hair loss and thinning hair, claims to have Folligen Complex which I never heard of.

How about shampoo for wrestler
Coal tar is medieval. Why would you put an industrial crude oil byproduct anywhere near your skin?? Madness
Because it works for some better than suffering and itching
Nonsense, see a dermatologist who will prescribe topical steroids as the first protocol.
