Main reason why Dr Dray is my favorite skincare influencer is that she really is a "doctor" first that being healthy comes first - be it mentally or physically - rather than the aesthetics.

I don't know. I gave up aluminum deodorant a few years ago and no longer have underarm odor at all. It takes a year to adjust, but now I just use Megababe Sunny Pits because I like the smell (lemon). But it took at least a year to adjust.
I gave up aluminum because my underarm lymph nodes were chronically tender and swollen. That problem is completely gone. So it benefited me.

@@charlenevalentine5057 Because there is this trend to pat yourself on the back for thinking you are "outsmarting doctors who are just trying to make money off of you". For instance, I've seen reputable dermatologists warn against people trying to perform certain procedures on them self at home, because they come with serious risks because they could cause injury or serious infection, and you'll see someone in the comments say that the doctor "just doesn't want people doing it for themselves so they can sell more in office procedures." Ironically, the doctors are probably going to end up making more off of patients needing medical treatment after they hurt themselves with a DIY invasive procedure.

In my senior years, I developed vertical nail ridging. Not bad, but it bugs me. So, I bought a jar of Cetaphil Healing Ointment Skin Protectant. A while before I go to bed, I massage this on my nails and all around the nail, the cuticles, and sides. I also put it on my lips prior to bed. I gotta' say this has really reduced my nail ridges. Also, I take a good amount and rub it all over my feet after showering, then put my socks on. I will keep using this year round. Hope all are staying warm!

What I really wish more people understood is that a lot of content online is just ragebait, designed to elicit a reaction of whatever kind from viewers. The algorithm, and therefore, the creators don't care whether you are commenting in agreement or to say how wrong or stupid they are - a view is a view and a comment is a comment. So the more extreme and divisive the content, the better. I'm pretty sure many of the people making these videos don't even believe in their own recommendations or do the stuff they say they are doing - I can tape my face up, put all sorts of weird gadgets on it for the five minutes it takes to make the video, then I can take them off and laugh about all the people who think they really showed me by commenting how ridiculous I am when what they in fact did is generate income for me. With the majority of such videos it's best to not interact with it in any way - the dilemma arises when they're promoting something genuinely harmful or dangerous, and you have to decide whether to comment to warn people, knowing that this also drives up the stats of the video and it will be shown to more people...

I still argue that hospitals received financial incentives for diagnosing everyone who presented with flu symptoms as a c-19 patient. He admits that is true (as a hospital nursing administrator he should known), but still thinks the flu just disappeared.

My husband had a wart growing on his arm for many years. He would constantly pick at it to remove it. Being a nurse, I told him he needs to see a dermatologist and have the wart removed from the root. After years of (yelling) sorry he would only see his PA and his PA said if you put Vaseline on it with a band aid he will go away. After several years, he finally listened to me and went to a dermatologist. He removed the wart, and it never grew back. So, I feel this dr did not know the basis of medical knowledge. He simply could have written a referral when my husband first addressed this problem to him.

@Claudialupper I 1000% agree consumers of information bear responsibility, but until a little responsibility is held on both sides, the world gets crappier. People make all sorts of considerations on how and what they say every day just as part of being an adult and a decent human being.
If a person’s only concern is that they’re feeling good, despite any damage they’re doing, then have at it. People are also free to respond.

Dr. Dray, I have been using coconut oil (during winter months) to help moisturize my body skin as an alternative to store bought lotions. I thought it would be a more “healthy” and “natural” option. But I read coconut oil can clog pores. Would you recommend solely using coconut oil in winter months? Thank you for taking the time to read! I appreciate your perspective and time 😊

Thank you for making a clear statement about how one random theory should not be treated as fact. It should in fact go through basic scientific method. AND one random theory or experiment or study should not be held as scientific evidence. It should be peer reviewed. In today’s society of the enormity of content, proper peer reviewed research should be taught in high school. Thank you for clearly stating what should be called the actual truth until proven otherwise.

I got a dry manicure once, sort of by accident. I went to a new place and had no idea it wasn't a a regular manicure until she started. I asked about it when started with no soaking, and figured I would continue with the manicure. It was painful and ruined my nails. Never again!

I actually used to love that v-line jaw thingy. When my TMJ was at it's worst, I'd put little warm compresses on each side of my jaw and use the v-line band to hold it in place while I slept and again in the morning when my jaw was sore from clenching all night. 10/10 for that purpose...never got a v-line out of though lmao

Doctor influencers have a huge responsibility to their audience and not enough accountability. For every Dr. Dray there are a hundred docs out there only looking to profit off of their audience, and it's not always easy to tell the bad from the good. It's becoming depressing.

Growing up in the 90s, our parents didn't believe in sunscreen. I remember my cousin actually used to smear **butter** all over her skin before laying out in the sun for tanning. Even as a preteen, I was pretty sure that was a bad idea.

I was floored when I saw the video of the plastic surgeon disparaging sunscreen. He has so much influence and it’s so dangerous to spread that kind of nonsense. My parents have a golf retail store…we see people left in right who have had cancers removed. Sun protective clothing can help but it’s not a replacement for sunscreen. Don’t even get me started with the grounding for infants! Lunacy!

Could be the toothpaste. If the first couple of ingredients are artificial sweeteners that could be the cause? It was for me. Now I use original Colgate. It took me years to figure this out. Just a thought.

I’ve never tried it, but i understand mouth taping is supposed to be lightly taped so your mouth could break free in your sleep if needed. And knowing if your mouth broke through the tape it would tell you your mouth breathing is significant and something that needs more attention than tape.
