Some very nice shots and scenes from one of your playthroughs Commander. Thank you for sharing. I've had similar brutal kill counts in several of my runs as well :)
I think zeroes in particular did indeed employ steep climbs/chandelles after a firing pass to set up another one, taking advantage of their excellent rate of climb and handling at near-stall speeds. But, they wouldn't be able to without building up a decent amount of energy, i.e. after diving in for a pass. These planes are approaching at a seeming snail's pace! I also don't like the look of the ineffectiveness of the air combat, several zeroes getting in right behind the bombers here with none shot down is wildly unrealistic.
