Today we're taking a look at Task Force Admiral, a highly anticipated WW2 naval strategy and RTS game. In this video, we'll be focusing on a Japanese attack on an American task force / carrier group. We'll be looking at the opposite side in the next video, as well as a few other features and the fully cinematic mode. Enjoy!
This game will become the absolute king of naval WW2 games, without any doubt
Excited to share more gameplay with you guys this week! We're gonna be taking a look at a few more features and the IJN!
Thank you for your kind words & coverage Diplex, much appreciated!❤
You legit just sold me on this game, and it's not even out yet, not even "early access". Added to my steam wishlist and I can't wait to get my hands on this game! Thanks for sharing!
Not sure if I'll play this game myself, but it's certainly great to watch! Finally, a game that captures the cinematic feel of the old WW2 movies like "Tora, Tora, Tora" or "Midway"
Let me play as Japan and i'll be happy
I have been following this game for over a year, it's nice to see the first gameplay videos coming out
Follow camera is badly needed here.
Finally, a game where I can firebomb Japan.
Actually fairly little .50 cal weapons were retained as anything but point defense weapons, most of the weapons you refer to as .50s in this video are 20mm cannons, or are the triple mount "Chicago Piano" which is a 1.3"? I think? Cannon. but yes, that's quite a bit of AA Firepower coming off the US task force
Yorktown did keep the entirety of their pre-war .50 cal armament in addition to the 20mms they got right before Coral Sea and used them up until she was sunk at Midway. They basically stuck them wherever they had the deck space for it
Take it for what it is worth. But, you old game players: does the play seem just like "Homeworld"!!? I think they use the same engine. Set back in full view or focus on one unit.
this game. homeworld 3, and sea power. i genuinely cant wait. and the weirdest part is that im most skeptical about homeworld. dont get me wrong. i bet the story is going to be 10/10. i just dont know what the gameplay is going to be like, since they have been super stingy in releasing actual gameplay footage that wasnt in the calmest mission in the entire game. its like they released the astroid point defense mission while trying to build hype. i wanna see spectacle. i wanna sea big ships turn other big ships into space dust. i wanna sea salvage corvettes steal enemy carriers. is that too much to ask for?
Is this two player game
Have the Americans received zero maneuverability?) More than once I have noticed the unnatural maneuverability of American aircraft, the authors should watch the game il2-sturmovik.
I'm very excited, but a little concerned. It needs a cinematic camera, since those scenes chasing the action were making me a little ill, and that's a first for me in 45 years of gaming.
Also best look of the game in a single video! Great job watching every single view of the combat!
P r o m o S M
It looks very interesting.
I hope that there is a historical campaign in this game. With all the carrier battles and which carriers participated
No night no meteo (rain storm tunder) !!! 🧐
So excited for this game, gonna be watching every single engagement cheering on the wild cats, already doing it
Just gorgeous. ❤
Any idea on release date?
Im getting sime serious Battle 360 flashbacks.
Please take my money, Drydockgames!
Games like these require people on the ships, like in Empire Total War, else they look like toys. I want to see people manning the guns, running around, trying to repair damage, etc. Too lifeless without it.
The devs have said that having people on the ships is a very low priority at the moment, as it’s purely aesthetic and would be difficult for their very small team (especially if you want the sailors on board to actually move around)
Very nice video, well done Commander
Visuals are great, but it is difficult to have an AI that can operate under historically accurate, both in the air and ground, under different conditions. Different tactics, different doctrines, different technology, different culture all have a historical role, but games can seldom capture this nuance, replacing it either with rock paper scissors models, or a generic AI routines, and that’s why it seldom is possible to accurately present such a specific conflict as the naval war in the Pacific in 1942.
Graviteam but naval? Yes please
Will the Imperial Japanese Navy be playable by humans as well as the U.S. Navy?
Battle stations pacific but massive :D
Excellent. get a defiant in amongst those bombers, see them go down quickly ! :D
Been waiting for this game!
Wow that is some of the most impressive AA I have seen in a WW2 game in a long time. The black puffs of flak persisting instead of dissipating near instantly really adds to the cinematic feel, and it is something no game actually does, which is a shame because it looks fantastic.
Hey Diplex, hope you'll get a good sponsorship by this game because you just made me buy it ! (well as soon as it gets released)
This game really good. 🤔
How many models of ships there are? How they are made? I mean, they are historically accurate?
Stop moving the camera around so much. I'm about to seize out bro.
A second before watching this video appeared the commercial of Modern Warfare 3.
Jesus Christ these folks wants to sucks money out of people that in comparison vampires have more decency and morals. 😮💨
Wow, Enterprise's luck completely went down the drain with all those torpedo hits.
wow. i was hoping the cats would make a head on attack. can the camera center on a selected craft?
Love it! Cant wait!
Amazing game
oh my god ,the incessant camera pivoting.
Is this game for money or just free?
So can you actually fly the plane or just watch?
At the moment, you can just watch, though the devs seem to be leaning more towards giving you that control since it seems to be a popular suggestion
I will be all in if they do that. Maybe like that old classic 1942 Pacific Air War where you could take command of any plane (even the rear gunner) and felt you could make a difference...
thought this was arma 3 zeus at first lol
at sea level all planes equal
Looks great.
I'm thinking this game will have a heavy western bias.
Why would they? The devs are French and are only making the USN playable at first because they have a small team and want to get a working game out before focusing on other factions like the IJN and RN
It’s almost like they won huh?
Been a long while since I've been excited about a game. The developers should watch the beginning of Tora Tora Tora..that's what formation flying sounds like. 😊
When I seen the close of the planes my mind went straight to Sabaton's Red Baron
It’s kinda silly that the attacking planes are so static - including the perfect laser beam straight flight.
It would be great if some reactions were:
- pilots looking around
- tail gunners shooting
- shakier formation
Anything really
this was just sad to watch. one squad of interceptors taking out so many torpedo bombers. I'd think at least one squad would have broken off to defend the other groups.
This game is going to be in development for another two years minimum.
First view nice and first comment
