- It's been a while since I've hand-painted Gunpla with the brush techniques I learned from tabletop games (It's also been a while since I've had proper ASMR clacks!), so this video features another custom Gunpla kitbash for the game Gamma Wolves by @GuerrillaMiniatureGames. This project is the 3rd addition to the 'Protagonists' crew, which will eventually face the completed 'Antagonists' crew on the battlefield! | #mecha #scalemodel #tabletopgaming

All joking aside your comments about getting in the zone through painting and how calming it is really struck a chord with me. Having a hobby is such a great outlet for anyone who struggles with anxiety because it allows your mind to exist in the present moment. You become absorbed in the now and can let go all the worries about the future. Great content and I hope you inspire many others to take up a hobby.

Your hand painted gunpla are way more characterful/better looking than the airbrushed ones. I'm glad people like you or Lincoln Wright goes the extra mile to make something different than everyone else
man I wish everyone could see your videos. its such a nice departure from all the samey Gunpla content I see elsewhere. the model mayhem style is definitely something id like to get into for my own Gunpla. any resources you'd recommend for getting started with this miniature style painting method?
I want to make better instructional material eventually, but for now I recommend checking out popular mini painting-channels like Goobertown Hobbies, Duncan Rhodes, miniac, etc. for learning fundamentals (there are plenty of good tutorials for a variety of styles and models out there)

I did litteraly paint a Gundam (well, a "LBX") based on the color scheme of a Jak character (the Crimson Guards in Jak II).

those colors are what I was thinking of if I would ever Kit bash with the Gusion rebake full city and Liger Zero Schnider. It looks so cool!

Tip for painting Yellow and Orange! Paint a pink over the white first and those colors will pop!

I just really wanted to stop by and say that your content is fantastic! I came across one of your Gamma Wolves kitbash projects recently and immediately had to watch them all! Your work is inspiring and your attitude is contagious. Its really cool that you show your process of experimenting, and even sometimes failing. It's helpful to see someone with such skill also make mistakes and just learn from it and roll with it. It's very refreshing. I cant wait to see what's next!

Absolutely love this idea of using miniature techniques to paint larger scale gunpla, Gusion Rebake Full City was one of the first IBO kits I bought, and it does suffer from the wonky tolerances the earlier gundam frame runners had, I found a few techniques that help (such as painting the ball joints or using floor polish to thicken the joints and tighten them up).
Using IBO kits as kitbashing fodder is a great idea too, as most of them are just interchangeable due to the inner frame being mostly the same across different kits (I think this Gusion kit and Barbatos Lupus Rex both had some minor changes).
I will have to give this style of painting a go at some point, gundams can be taken apart for easier painting than the miniatures I own (a few necrons and a commander and some marines from one of the recent warhammer magazines), and your result looks clean af.

Great gradient work on this one, SUPER smooth. These videos have really reinvigorated my own love of the hobby - I always wanted to paint my kits, but every time I touch an airbrush something goes wrong. Since watching your first video of this particular method, I've taken two kits that were just sitting in a shoebox and turned them around completely.

I enjoyed this video. Its fun and i learned some new painting techniques. Ive never built gunpla before but have been playing with the idea for a while. I bought a barbatos from Target a while ago. Haven't touched it but this might be the push i need to get to it :)

I'm normally a wargame player and am putting together some koto kits for some fun painting on a larger surface. I started looking into gunpla painting and was surprised to see that all of the painting techniques and standards I have learned are mostly not used in the gunpla community. Usually some enamel/acrylic airbrushing with some topcoat effects at most. Panel lining and waterslide decals. There's no amazing freehand flex pieces despite the fact that a lot of these kits have large, flat surface areas that are screaming for someone to recreate the Sistine chapel paintings across the manly pecs of the mech. Not even a single tramp stamp on the waifu kits. Edge highlighting? What is edge highlighting? I'm going to be painting my kits like they're going on a wargaming table, and I might get disappeared by the gunpla police wielding their 100 fold Japanese steel katanas.
