Hey Ola, I wondered how and where you have learned so much about recording with plugins. It looks like you know everything if it comes to plugins and tweaking your sounds. You always have a great tone. Thankyou for all the great content. I've been following you for a long time now!
Seriously, #Ola14Days guys, this is amazing. More people have to do this and we’ve got to keep it on a roll, you’re missing out if you’re not joining in. It’s never too late- practice! I love this! (I mean WE love this!)
Ola, I love you. Thank you for having such an awesome channel. I sold all my guitars last year and never thought twice about it until I found your channel. I just recently bought a used Ibanez Prestige 2170 and plan on getting back into it. I don't know, man. You're just enjoyable to watch. People ask you bullshit questions and you're literally just like, "Hey, man.. I don't care about that...moving on." I wish more people would just get on with that type of mantra. If people want to be negative and trolly, go eff yourselves...I'm not wasting my time dealing with you. Kudos. Your channel is going to explode. I wouldn't be surprised to see you with 1M viewers/subscribers within two years. Mark my words. Respect.
The riff of the day @ 3:38 is KILLER. I love it 🤘Thanks for the videos, thanks for the Solar guitars (next one already pre-ordered), thanks for all the fun and positive vibes.
I don't know why exactly, but I love the way you say, "Riff of Day-uh" it just always gives me a chuckle. I've been following you for so long I can't remember if you've done a video for the heavy riff in "Lord's Resistance Army." If you have, someone help point me there, or I'll look it up on my own later. Ola, If you have not, you need to grace us with that riff more often. It's an effin deliciously nasty riff. Keep it up brother!
Will there ever be more body shapes introduced to the Solar lineup? I've really been into more metal takes on weird offset shapes like the RD, Jazzmaster, or Bill Kellihers sparrowhawk.
If you want a good architects album to get into I suggest you listen to “All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us” I don’t think you’ll regret it. Greetings from Leicester, UK
Regarding the question from Costa Rica; Ola did mention the "studiecirkel" and how it can give you some financial help for your band (or any other kind of art or learning) but I feel it deserves more credit. As a Swede I think it's easy to forget how spoiled we actually are. Our "förbund" gives us money for every month we play, has equipment we can borrow and can help us organize gigs, and so on and so on. When we were doing a preproduction with our band a couple of years back they lent us a case full of really good drum mics and a Macbook with all the software we could need, for two weeks, for free! When I was a lot younger, I paid 20 euros a year for our rehearsal room. It matters for sure.
My ever returning question: Why are you not ALWAYS using Evertune? Am I correct to interpret this as that there still are things you enjoy _specifically_ in a "normal bridge" guitar, from time to time? If so, what are some of those those things? For what specific tasks would you prefer a "normal bridge" axe to an Evertune guitar?
G`day ola!! Keen as buggery to see you next year in australia!! I only have 1 question.... will you be adding any more lefties to the solar lineup? really diggin the fluro yello type you have but its not available in lefty...keep up the kickass work mate!
Hey Ola, Do you ever set up your amp and really like the sound but when you turn it up you realize you liked it better when you could hear the sound of your strings? I love that fresh string sound
Just saw Behemoth and At The Gates. Noticed ATG had some awesome guitars which eventually led to your channel. Loved it so much that I became a member and got my guitar out of the case for the first time in 16 years. BTW my gf watches too and thinks you're hilarious she just doesn't have an account to subscribe with.

The game is horrible. Totally unplayable with those controls and jumping mechanics. Stop thinking with your nostalgia. I loved it as a child but now I detest it.

Hey, Ola. Do you have any advice for someone who feels like they are in a creative rut? I feel like every time I jam I am playing similar sounding patterns and riffs. Also, I am subtly playing your videos during the evenings with my wife and I think I am slowly turning her into a fan. I have no doubt that if you say hello to her that you will win her over. Cheers!
Hey Ola! Greetings from Canada. Question: I hope I'm asking in the right place. What are you opinions on string dampeners? Are they a crutch for sloppy players or do they serve a purpose? Cheers!
Hey Ola, I just saw At The Gates live and they were amazing! Do you think The Haunted will come to the USA any time soon? It seems like we don't get a lot of the good Swedish bands here and I was genuinely surprised when At The Gates came and played here in New York. Thanks and hope to see you guys soon!
Hi Ola! My husband and I love your channel and want to know your opinion on European metal fests. We both turn really old this year and have been inseparable since he made me my first Metallica mix tape when we were 14. So, we want to celebrate our birthdays by going to a Euro metal fest. Where do you think a couple of metal-loving Texans would have the most fun? Thanks! ~~PanterA Forever~~
Hi Ola, I never thought I'd hear about Johnny Halliday here. He was an belgian plagiarist of 50s US rock stars who got immensely famous in 60s' France and who recently died. I somehow was sure you'd get to sexier mousepads from the start, hehe. On to the question, I wonder what you think of Vigier-style zero frets. The only one I've ever tried is the one I installed on the cheap BC Rich Warlock (some will say "cheap" is redundant, but I paid it €60 used at a Cash Converter type shop and souped it up with Irongear pickups) Warlock Bronze series thanks to the Zero Glider nut. It made the action FAR lower, enhancing ease of play, especially on complex chords and barrés, while eliminating the difference in sound of open strings, making the guitar more homogenous. Both those differences seemed significant enough for me to ask you if you'd do those on Solar guitars. This has made me think I need to file the Flod Rose lockers on my other guitars to make them lower, because they make bar chords more difficult than they need to be, and reduce the intonation adjustment range available, which always is a problem with fat strings. Please try, even with a Zero Glide, you won't be disappointed (Yes, the Zero Glide with their crazy shipping costs ended up more expensive than the guitar itself, lol). Cheers from Bretagne ! And FUCK YOU, GLENN ! ^^
Hej Ola, you said Tosin Abasi was the only one making something different with an 8th string guitar, check out Modern Day Babylon, a band from Czech Republic, i don't know if they are too "different", but i really like them.
Just wanted to say that I couldn't become a member using my mobile phone through my home's WiFi, but could after having switched to the 4G connection. That's weird, but now I am a member 🤘🤘🤘
Hey Ola, just wanted to let you know that i saw your HM2 video, where you mention Entombed, Ive always been into heavier metal, but my itunes was getting stale, lots of Cannibal corpse, Death, Skeleton witch etc, now I am Absolutely addicted to Entombed, At The Gates, The Haunted and 6FU, just wanted to say thank you for helping my music taste evolve, hope to see you at NAMM!
Hola again, Ola. I’m gonna make a basic question, sorry in advance. When you play through plug-ins, the sound comes from the speakers you have by your screen and we hear it directly through the audio of your camera? Or it goes to the audio interface right to the video we watch? (Or both?) Gracias from Spain
Hi Ola! What about Ihsahn? I think like Tosin Abasi, even he's not as technical, he's a very inspirated artist that got an 8 string in his hands. One of my favorite artist of all time.
Hi ola, quick question : What are the differencies between having the effects (in general, saturation, chorus, noise gate , compressor, whatever) from a pedal, from a Guitar Amp Head or from a totally digital amp (like the FX II) ? Is there still an interest of having tons of pedals if you can have all the effects and sound in the world with an FX II or III ? Cheers from cheese and wine country !
hi Ola which is more important for you, when choosing a new guitar playability or comfortable/feel? i have a custom made Liep Guitar, where the neck is HUGE. the guitar neck is really comfortable for me to play, but the size of the neck makes playing a bit difficult. Best Regards from Bornholm, denmark
Olahla :) Question, how do you do the artificial harmonics? I play with the pick just like you do and its a big problem for me. I usually have to swap "back" into the more normal pick-position to perform them in a song and it always screws me when trying to continue the riff in time. Thanks for your great stuff!
Howdy Ola! I feel like I may know the answer to this, but I’m still curious nonetheless. What is your favorite “standard guitar shape”? (S, T, V, X, LP, etc...) Love all your videos, they keep getting better! Have a nice day.
Greetings from Canada! I wanted to know, when you are writing a song and notice that your song sounds like a band you listen to, what do you do? I once wrote a riff thinking it was the shit only to realize it was very similar to a Rage Against The Machine riff I had heard once. When this happens, do you scrap the riff or try to modify it? Whenever this happens I feel the need to scrap the riff because I want to create something original.
Just out of curiosity, what pickups are the Solar Duncan pickups based on? I believe from your earlier pickup videos that you are a fan of the medium/high output, alnico based passive pickups by Seymour Duncan, like the 59/Custom Hybrid f.e. (I know that the Solar Duncan name is not related to the SD brand) I've also been in the market to buy one of the SD Custom bridge models (SH-5 or SH-14 in particular) for a Gibson Les Paul Traditional. Which one would you recommend for versatility? I want to go from classic rock to Lamb Of God-ish riffage! Tack så mycket på förhand! 🤘🤘
Howdy Ola! New subscriber from South Africa! We are of the same age and given how awesome you sound I am getting some new gear to get into playing again. Which brings me to my FAQ: Have you ever bought a guitar second hand? Which was you favorite (besides the Solar) and has someone ever tried to cheat you when buying a second hand guitar?
Ola, how much fret buzz is acceptable? I love ultra low action but I find I can’t get rid of the buzz because I pick pretty hard. So I stay around 4mm on the 12th fret. How do you set yours?
I tried everything. If i set the neck with sufficient relief at the neck, the strings past the 12th fret are really high, if i lower the bridge and saddles, then the neck looks severely bowed. I also meant 4mm when not depressed with the two finger test. 4mm when just resting. The main issue is really with my Ibanez RGMS7. The multiple scale lengths are almost impossible to get even across the neck.
Still 4mm is really high then. Maybe try to measure the relief instead of eyeballing it. That way is really more accurate and easier to redo if the neck shifts over time.
Hey Ola ! My neighbour tries ( struggles) to play guitar. He plays the same riff for 6 hours straight ( veeery basic riffing, I, as a drummer can do what he does on the axe). Which song should I run into my sound system to make him understand he sucks and he needs to practice WITH EARPHONES ^^ btw your channel is great, keep on going Ola ! Cheerz from france.
Yo Ola! Where do you get the videogame footage on your Mac? Do you record it yourself? Is it an actual desktop wallpaper? You've got awesome taste in games!
What was that little sony camera that Ola used for riff of the day? Need one of those.... Also, does are there any videos on how Ola goes through making and editing his playthroughs. If not, it would be pretty sweet idea to get people on the member train...
Hey Ola, I recently watched the video where you used a Metal zone as a preamp and it sounds amazing, my question is, do you think it would sound great on an Orange Dark Terror with the Jim Root signature 2x12 ??? Here in my country even the used ones are expensive and I dont wanna waste my money, cheers, Love your channel
Hey ola, 2 part question. 1. Have you heard of yyrkoon? I believe they are french. Check out from the depths the riff style reminds me of feared. 2nd any chance of the pop. Burst being a perminent thing? Its sexy.
Nice attitude Ola. Keep on truckin Btw, checked out the Db-meter you have in the background (at Thomann), could be handy - but fakk! was it expensive, or what? 😲😬😩 Have you got it for free? And do you know of any, more reasoneable, alternatives?
Wassup Ola I think a cool video idea would be outlining different tunings for 7 strings, how and when to use them, and which you think are the best for chugging. I'd love to see this! Thanks
Hey ola i love your videos would you do a simple explanation of the correct way to turn on and off tube amplifiers with a standby switch? I recently purchased a Randall thrasher and am scared I will blow the tubes by switching in the wrong order thank you 😁
Hey Ola! I tried the demo of Fortin nameless suite before perhaps getting the full version. It sounds great but I seem to have some issues with "amp noise" in it and turning up the gate to much just doesn't do justice to the sound. Have you experienced anything similar with the program? Any solutions? Thanks for an awesome channel and great guitars! 🤟🏻
Hi Ola! Greetings from Norway! how are you feeling today? I was wondering, have you heard about the band Arsis? i love the song "We are the Nightmare". what do you think about it? :)
Ola, how do you get your distortion tone so clean from plugins? Every time I arpeggiate a chord with distortion there's always a lot of noise that masks the notes, whereas when you do it, you can hear all of the notes so clearly. Greetings from Ireland!
Hey Ola, what do you think of B.C. Rich guitars? In recent years they rebuilt their lineup from the ground up, but nobody seems to be giving them a chance. Have you checked them out?
will there be a Solar A2.7 but matte black? Btw, do you change strings often, use coated ones or maybe you clean your strings regullary? cheers from poland ♥
Hey Ola. You have life figured out pretty damn well it seems. Well done sir. Any chance of a headless Solar model in the future? I feel I cant go back to a headstock after using a headless for a while...
Hi Ola, could you explain the naming system behind the solar guitars? For example, whats the difference between a 1.6 and a 2.6 or the difference between the A and S models? I have no idea. Thanks. Also: What the heck, why did you not like infinity war???

hi Ola
which is more important for you, when choosing a new guitar
playability or comfortable/feel?
i have a custom made Liep Guitar, where the neck is HUGE. the guitar neck is really comfortable for me to play, but the size of the neck makes playing a bit difficult.
Best Regards from Bornholm, denmark
Olahla :)
Question, how do you do the artificial harmonics? I play with the pick just like you do and its a big problem for me. I usually have to swap "back" into the more normal pick-position to perform them in a song and it always screws me when trying to continue the riff in time. Thanks for your great stuff!
Hey you, would it be ok if I write Ouhla instead of Ola? I realize that "Ola Englund" is your professional brand, but I like Ouhla more.
Hi Ola. With all the impulse responses available now, do you still prefer recording guitar with a mic'd cabinet?
(I know that the Solar Duncan name is not related to the SD brand)
I've also been in the market to buy one of the SD Custom bridge models (SH-5 or SH-14 in particular) for a Gibson Les Paul Traditional.
Tbh 4mm action at 12th fret is really high. Maybe you should check the neck relief this can really help in getting a lower action without buzz.
4mm? What is it a slide guitar?
I tried everything. If i set the neck with sufficient relief at the neck, the strings past the 12th fret are really high, if i lower the bridge and saddles, then the neck looks severely bowed. I also meant 4mm when not depressed with the two finger test. 4mm when just resting. The main issue is really with my Ibanez RGMS7. The multiple scale lengths are almost impossible to get even across the neck.
Still 4mm is really high then. Maybe try to measure the relief instead of eyeballing it. That way is really more accurate and easier to redo if the neck shifts over time.
@@MilitantOldLady go to a local shop, sometimes things get fucky and a good tech can help.
Hola "Ula", I just got a Solar A1.6 ATG, great guitar btw, just wondering why you don't talk about this model in particular.
What's up Ola. Love your videos man! Lots o' love from South Africa.
What was that little sony camera that Ola used for riff of the day? Need one of those....
Also, does are there any videos on how Ola goes through making and editing his playthroughs. If not, it would be pretty sweet idea to get people on the member train...
Great video! stay positive Ola you are good at being positive but funny at the same time
@18:24 I hadn't thought about it that way until you said it... Well, there goes my peace of mind on something I didn't even care about 5 mins ago...
My wife said "You could have ironed your shirt". There we go!
Love the videos!!
Yes the talleywacker prodrums. Excellent program
the lead guitarist from wretched (steve funderburk) also plays for through the eyes of the dead, btw.
Hey ola, 2 part question. 1. Have you heard of yyrkoon? I believe they are french. Check out from the depths the riff style reminds me of feared. 2nd any chance of the pop. Burst being a perminent thing? Its sexy.
Nice attitude Ola. Keep on truckin
Btw, checked out the Db-meter you have in the background (at Thomann), could be handy - but fakk! was it expensive, or what? 😲😬😩
Have you got it for free?
And do you know of any, more reasoneable, alternatives?
Wassup Ola
I think a cool video idea would be outlining different tunings for 7 strings, how and when to use them, and which you think are the best for chugging.
You've toured with Revocation? You lucky, lucky boi
Ola, how do you get your distortion tone so clean from plugins? Every time I arpeggiate a chord with distortion there's always a lot of noise that masks the notes, whereas when you do it, you can hear all of the notes so clearly.
Greetings from Ireland!
What is that guitar wrapped around in the background? IS THIS SOLAR BASS? Or is this a gift for me?
14 days challenge is awesome ! Keep doin it !
Hey Ola, what do you think of B.C. Rich guitars? In recent years they rebuilt their lineup from the ground up, but nobody seems to be giving them a chance. Have you checked them out?
Im down for the challenge.Great idea dude!
will there be a Solar A2.7 but matte black?
Btw, do you change strings often, use coated ones or maybe you clean your strings regullary?
cheers from poland ♥
Hey Ola. You have life figured out pretty damn well it seems. Well done sir. Any chance of a headless Solar model in the future? I feel I cant go back to a headstock after using a headless for a while...
Ola, The Great Burp King, please do a video showing how you setup your guitars intonation and stuff. Thanks.
Hi Ola,
could you explain the naming system behind the solar guitars? For example, whats the difference between a 1.6 and a 2.6 or the difference between the A and S models? I have no idea. Thanks.
Also: What the heck, why did you not like infinity war???
Ola what kind of sony camera is that 😂 I'm just curious about it because the lcd screen flips up so you can see yourself so cool 😎!
Hola Ola, are we getting a new Feared album in 2018? Or early 2019?
Much love from Australia
